When Sara announced her new service, Right Hand Gal, I couldn't wait to try it. My past experiences with Sara were stellar, and I thought the RHG concept was great. I am a super busy working mom and my to-do list is never done. I booked a session with Riley/RHG and I was not disappointed. Riley was prompt, professional and efficient. I had a long to-do list that we went through and prioritized knowing it everything could be done in one day. Over the course of two sessions Riley helped me purge my office of old paperwork/bills, organized my year-end expense receipts, took bags of papers to be shredded, untangled and sorted my necklaces and other jewelry, did a Goodwill drop-off, picked up items for me at The Container Store and Aaron Bros, took my shoes to the shoe repair, etc. She asked great questions, was very thoughtful and focused, and worked fast. I am EXTREMELY difficult to please. Notoriously so, in fact. And that's just for unimportant stuff like work, gyms, airport lounges, etc. So when it comes to paying someone to come into my home and create order from chaos, my level of expectations are off the charts. When I booked my first appointment with Sara, there was a slim to none chance that she would even meet my expectations, let alone exceed them. Exceed them, she did indeed do, however. I'm still blown back by the whirlwind she came in on, with her impossibly energetic, enthusiastic attitude and ridiculously capable skill set. For my final session, I knew enough to take some B vitamins in order to keep up with her...but do not get the wrong idea, in that she never once overwhelmed me or stressed me out during this whole process. I called Sara at the recommendation of a cabinet designer I used for a remodel in our home, she simply raved about her services. I waited nearly 2 years before calling Sara simply because I thought I would one day get around to doing the things I needed to get "organized." Well, given I have 2 little kids, all the time that comes along with sports, school, play-time not to mention a full time job and a love for yoga/getting a workout or 3 a week, I soon came to the reality that that "free day" to really gut and organize wasn't going to surface. I initially texted Sara to request a visit/quote for the things I needed to get under control. She asked me a few simple questions relative to what I was looking to accomplish and what my goals were. I rattled off that the garage was busting at the seams as well as every room in the house and basically just needed her to come and assess the situation. She gave me her short term availability of which I did nothing with (overwhelmed at the entirety of what needed to be done.) Several weeks later when Sara hadn't heard from me she followed up and I simply responded that I hadn't come up for air to be able to schedule an appt. She suggested we chat about what I wanted to accomplish, she was friendly and bright, but I could tell she was at the same time super efficient. She accommodated a weekend appt date to accommodate meeting with everyone in my family which was amazing. I'd expected a 30-60 minute consult but she was so generous with her time to ensure we had all bases covered. She assured me that everything I wanted to accomplish was doable and we would chunk off bit by bit in an easy manageable manner. The first appt far exceeded my expectations. I opted in for her "calendar class" which I initially thought I didn't need. What it did was help get me grounded on a process of keeping what felt like an insurmountable amount of projects planned out in a realistic and timely manner. This helped me prioritize what was important, who knew re-approaching how I managed my time (from electronic only to an actual planner) would be so enlightening and take a few things off my mental to-do list that never seems to quit! Sara's strategy for organizing life is something that adds value and time back into my life while lessening the constant stress of feeling under the gun, it's much more than simply jotting down your to-do's onto a calendar page. I HIGHLY recommend Sara's calendar class! The second and third meetings involved the actual organizing. We tackled my home office, a couple downstairs cupboards and the dreaded garage. My husband and I have moved 4 times in the last 8 years, from the east coast to the midwest to Southern California, each time downsizing our home. I found Sara on Yelp and hired her because she had so many 5 star reviews. My task was to pack up Aunt Phyllis and move her into assisted living. We had to downsize her 3 bedroom 2 bath home to a 1 room apartment. Not an easy task to ask an 82 year old woman to give up her lifelong possessions and to choose only a few items to take with her. We had a 2 week deadline, due to the sale of the home, so we worked to a short time schedule. Sara was very patient working with her elderly client. She listened actively when conversations sometimes didn't make sense. She realized that moving into assisted living was hard for Aunt Phyllis, as she put herself in her shoes. Sara (and Diana) worked non-stop each day they came to the house. Sorting things so that all we had to do was look in each box to say Yes/No to any item. The rest of the stuff was donated. It was hard work but it all came together at the end of the week. If you are looking for someone with great organization skills AND elder care skills, then give XOXOrganizing a call! You won't go wrong with Sara! My sister and I always joked that we were organizationally impaired. I'm visual and tend to stack and have piles of stuff. I called with a couple of smaller projects in mind and never dreaming that we could get my whole office organized, create a supply closet and a complete re-do on all of our files. Sara just sat me down to go through one of my piles at a time and then took the trash, donate or keep items and started finding homes for them, so I could focus on sorting. Normally about that time I would start moving piles around and get stuck. There was a lot of old stuff that I wasn't using at all or that needed to be tossed. Sara helped talk me through why I wanted to keep certain things and she helped me to work through how much was enough (I had a bit of a box hoarding problem!) I never felt pressured! It just felt so nice to get done. I had made attempts in the past and my husband took a stab at it when I was out of town as a surprise for me... It made things worse, because it looked better briefly, but I didn't know where things were. My husband is organized, but we have really different styles. A lot of what Sara did was to coach me on systems that worked for me and my style, so that when she left I knew it was something I could use and maintain. When you look at the before and after photo's what you don't see is how nice and organized it is in the files and drawers. My whole office feels so much better! Words fail me when I try to describe what a godsend Sara has been to me and my family. My life was in chaos as a single working mom with a young child living back at home with my mom. I had a permanent "living out of a suitcase" mentality there, and had personal items in boxes and bags as well as in storage. I reached a point where I realized I needed to "unpack" and couldn't do it alone. I wanted a partner to help me get back on track, not, as many other organizers appear to provide, an assistant. I'm a big believer in the idea that clutter comes from a deeper place than "busy-ness". And for me, boy, is that true. Cluttered space = cluttered mind. So I contacted Sara and she called me back really quickly. She is very confident and also understanding. I told her about my needs and my concerns, and she set up time for us to organize my home space that coming weekend. She came in excited to work. EXCITED. I was overwhelmed at the prospect, but she made it fun and engaging. We accomplished a lot in a few short hours, and set up some things for me to hold myself accountable to keep things the way they are. Next, we did the Calendaring class. Holy wow, I got a LOT done in the month after that, because she gave me the tools to accomplish the tasks that we all keep rattling around in our brains, as "to do's". The ones that never get done, because we don't think of them until super inconvenient times. It's hard to keep up the program when you don't have as much to do, but she's so great at checking in and helping you get off the ground with your goals. Finally (for now - I have other issues I need to tackle), we went to my storage unit and went through EVERYTHING I owned there. Boxes, bags, etc. I mean, she's pretty much my hero for that day alone. It was at the end of the summer, crazy hot, no A/C... Ugh. And I get bogged down in the little things. Big stuff, I'm good. But all the little tchotchkes and baubles... Ugh. So she helped me go through everything and organize what I decided to keep vs. donate, then helped me figure out what to do with everything. I was discouraged when we left, because I felt I had kept more items than I wanted to, and we left the unit still full of stuff, because I didn't have a truck to take it. Sara was so great and stayed and talked to me and wanted me to be encouraged by all the progress I'd made. So the next day, I realized I'd done it. All the things I wondered about were located, all the crap I've carried around with me through moves across the country because I wasn't sure what to do with - a lot of it got donated, and hopefully people elsewhere might appreciate it. I am impressed! I knew having help organizing my master bathroom and living room built in cabinets would be helpful, but I did not realize what a difference XOXOrganizing could make. Sara came yesterday to speak at my Moms Group in Tustin. Her presentation was such a gift for all the ladies in attendance. Sara had the whole group so engaged from the moment she started to speak. I loved how engaging, sweet, genuine and funny she was. She is clearly very passionate about what she does and her enthusiasm was contagious throughout the room. It was wonderful for her to include all of our questions and topics of interest into the workshop so that we all walked away with answers and solutions to our biggest organizing obstacles.
