Turns out, I have 6 fractured ribs, 2 compressed vertebrae and need a breathing device to avoid pneumonia. Sure glad we decided to get a second opinion. I really thought when he said prednisone I was starting out with it in a shot and getting a prescription for the rest but they are all oral. I liked how fast I was in & out but I wished there would have been a bit more relief as I am in a lot of pain & not able to sleep because of the pain It sucks because this is an illness you can't see & I feel it is misunderstood for that reason. They pinched my nipple for an EKG, refused to let me talk to my doctor as well as telling me it was my fault I tried to kill myself and was there. They left burning IVs in my arms for 12 hours while I was screaming and crying for help because the nurses hung up on my calls repeatedly. They tried to outpatient me despite telling me that I would be released and only reverted that decision when I was alone. They harassed me with bills after the fact and when I tried calling to talk to them about the mistreatment and lack of care I received, they pushed me around for an entire whole year since then, lying saying they'd investigate while denying the investigation and pushing it to collections repeatedly. I've called 10+ times and they all lied to my face saying they'd help me but instead lied saying they sent mail to my house to get "proof" despite a previous comment they replied to showing proof and me never receiving this letter. You guys have ruined my ability to get proper medical attention as I am terrified to step foot in any hospitals since and you can hear it in my voice Everytime I call crying about what had happened to me. Now I am forced to pay even though I have no money despite them repeatedly faking in my face that they'd work with me. I can't think or even talk back to that day without shaking and crying in fear of being traumatized by the people that are supposed to save and help you. Its unbelievable that I've been calling trying to resolve this, you guys have been lying and avoiding me but you guys said to call and resolve this. This isn't resolved I can't afford to pay but I have no choice as you guys have forced me into collections when you have lied for an entire year about an investigation. 30% off for being told it's my fault I tried to kill myself, getting my nipples pulled, and having my doctor withheld from me for 5+ hours. I never got anything in the mail asking for proof, only bills and they lied saying they did while internally telling their people to continue collections on me. This is honestly just unbelievable how they force me to be a victim again while they repeatedly lied to my face. $900, $600, even $400 is crazy when you blatantly refused me help and told me it was my fault and it's still happening.

From the moment I arrived, every single person, receptionist, nurse, doctor, radiology tech, and transport, treated me with incredible kindness and respect. They made me feel comfortable, took my concerns seriously, and never once dismissed my pain. Special thanks to Gladys, Lacy, Dr. Paxon, and Haley, my care team that day. You were compassionate, thorough, and incredibly professional. You ran every test necessary and ultimately diagnosed me with acute appendicitis, quickly arranging for me to be transferred to Wesley for surgery. If I missed someone that was involved that day, I appreciate you as well! What I didn't realize at the time was just how life-saving that visit would be. During my appendectomy, a tiny cancerous tumor was found in my appendix, so small it never would've shown up on imaging. Because I'm over 40 (and appendicitis is less common at my age), that finding led my doctors to do further screenings. They found and removed a precancerous polyp, and I later had another preventative surgery for something else -- but never would've been addressed if it wasn't for my care on February 20, 2025. The proactive, attentive care I received at Derby ER set everything in motion. You very likely saved my life. I will forever be grateful for you. If there were others on my care team whose names I didn't catch, please know this gratitude extends to you as well.
