Birria (8x10) pizza with consume and also medium spicy chipotle sauce

First experience was more in 4-4.5 star range but I'll round up to 5 with the hopes that next visit will be a saucier pizza. Overall great experience, and if you like this I suggest you also check out Fuji and Vi's in Pasadena. Ordered ahead by phone for take out of the small Birria pizza. I was quoted 20 min and it was in fact 20 min. This is Detroit Style deep dish, and there was delicious and crunchy cooked cheese crust all around. The birria pizza comes with consommé broth, and the staff also gave me some medium spiciness chipotle sauce. The pizza by itself has some robust flavor from the marinated beef, but it was also dry and salty. Dipping the crust in consommé fixes the dryness but now the broth flavor dominates (and I preferred the birria over the broth). The chipotle sauce didn't pair well with the Birria marinade. I was told that the Birria was the most popular, followed by 7-Cheese and Street Taco. I'll try a different pizza at next visit, and hopefully the street taco will be saucier, or pair better with the chipotle sauce. Or maybe a typically pepperoni with tomato sauce would be the right choice for me. Maybe both

My family and I went for lunch for the first time today. The first thing I noticed was how clean & organized the restaurant looked and how kind the staff was. Now the food- WOW!! This spot puts an unexpected twist on classic Detroit deep dish by adding a Mediterranean flair that really sets it apart. We tried the Detroit deep dish and the Mediterranean pizza. The crust is perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with toppings and spices that give each bite amazing flavor. We also tried three types of wings and their AMAZING garlic bread cheese dip (which for THIS alone I will be back for!!) and everything was sooo good -- super tasty and satisfying. If you're looking for something different from your usual pizza night, this is the place. It may become your new favorite like it did mine!! Xtra Cheese is a MUST TRY!

Great pizza spot but be prepared for a hit in the pocket. 40.00 for a large friends. Okay that said. Pizza was very good. Great CRUSR. SOME OF THD BEST I HAVE HAD. Tons of toppings and Great customer service. We ordered half and half...Chipotle shrimp and Mediterranean. My daughter loved them. I was not a fan guys. But I loved the crust. I will opt for pepperoni if I go back. MEAT toppings were frozen and tasted frozen to me. However...I am very picky. BOTH my daughters loved the pizza. I will definitely come back and just have pepperoni.

Not super amazing, nor bad. I liked the texture of the crust; nice & crisp on the outside with that cheesy chewy dough as you bit and chewed into it. Got the Detroit Pepperoni and I think for me, it was just too much marinara for my liking. Pepperoni was large so I thought it was good proportion to the pizza and tasted delicious. Service was ok and just overall quiet. The place is quaint, super casual, clean, and had plenty of seating area options. Nothing above average, nor anything bad to say about this place. They have other food options on their menu besides pizza; like Pastas, Salads, Wings so in case anybody was curious if they served anything else but pizza. Forgot to do a before and after picture but here is the after lol had there street taco pizza and man it was delicious the blend of everything is amazing and the crust is so cheesy and burnt it blends in perfectly with the asada reminds me of getting a queso taco and then I had the Detroit pizza and added ricotta cheese to it if you live close by and haven't had this place i definitely recommend it both pies get a 10/10 for me

I got a chipotle shrimp pizza and it was so filling. I loved the burnt cheese crust that was so flavorful. We were treated with great care and service. It gets loud when full but luckily it was only a couple tables occupied when we ate. I'd come back again for sure.

We tried this place out and were not disappointed in all three items. Everything had a different taste to it than what we normally are used to. Came out pipping hot and customer service was spectacular. Garlic parmesan wings: one pound to share amongst the three of us. The flavor was awesome. I could eat this all day every day. You could actually taste the flavors. Fettuccine Alfredo pasta: again the freshness and quality was great. I could taste the garlic in this dish as well and it was great. I actually warmed up next day and ate as well to find the taste stayed. Sometimes you lose the ump, but this kept it. Taco pizza: I think this could use a little bit more meat on top, but the flavor profile was amazing. We used the jalepeno ranch with this and the pizza and sauce were all amazing. We will be back to try other items on the menu as we were highly satisfied with all three dishes. One star dock for more meat on pizza, but flavors were on point.

Just tried the Detroit Pepperoni and an order of buffalo hot wings! First up was the hot wings, served piping hot and perfectly smothered in buffalo sauce with just the right amount of crunch they give you the clinch of ranch, jalapeño ranch or blue Cheese for dipping, I went with the jalapeño ranch and it was thick and tasty! The pizza was served immediately after and was outstanding. The crust is crispy and crunch with a nice buttery burst of flavor. The cheese was falling off as I bit the pizza. Perfection

My friend and I came and tried this place today. We got here right when they opened at 12pm . The owner and chef very nice and welcoming. She asked if it was our first time there and named some of the popular pizzas and went over some of the menu items. We shared the 7 cheese pizza and a Mediterranean salad. The salad came out first and it was very fresh and it was very good, with some bell peppers, olives, feta cheese. Then came our pizza and we were not disappointed! It was delicious! The crust is light and fluffy and not greasy at all. We got a small size , which is 4 pieces so it was perfect for two people. The pizza reminded me of Pizza Hut but better. The crust had crispy edges and the right amount of sauce. Someone ordered the wings while we were there and they smelled so good!The place has about 5 tables with benches. It was nice and clean. I would definitely be back and try some of their other menu items.

Omgaaws this pizza. Saw this on my IG feed from couple of fellow foodies. I had the Detroit Pepperoni, so good. Legit Detroit style pizza, which is toppings & cheese then the sauce gets out on too. Workers are nice and helpful. Be prepared to wait as its made fresh. Pro Tip: Get the Garlic Cheesy pull-apart bread. Fire.

Found this place because of tik Tok and it did not disappoint! We ordered the bbq wings, garlic cheese bread and the Detroit style pepperoni. The star of the show was definitely the garlic cheese bread, it was cooked to perfection and flavorful! Tip: order the hot honey for the pizza, I'm not sure why but it just works so well together! read more

The idea of these pizza's are great. The execution, not so much. The pizza cheese is quite rubbery and the dough is a little on the tough side. Toppings however are good. Pizzas photograph great, but miss the flavor mark, unfortunately. We tried the birria and bbq chicken, definitely opt for birria tacos elsewhere if that's why you're getting it. read more

Found this place on Instagram. Decided to make the trip from Fontana to Whittier to try it. It was delicious!! It is small, only 4 tables and we did have to wait awhile for our food. But in their defense they were extremely busy. We we're able to get a table so we could eat it fresh. We ordered the Detroit Pepperoni and the Chipotle Shrimp pizzas along with the cheesy garlic bread and lemon pepper wings. Everything was excellent. I am not a wing person and I loved the wings. The meat fell off the bone. My 8 month old grandson loved them too. The employees were all very nice. The place was clean. I would definitely eat there again. It's pretty cool how a post on social media can blow up a small business. Hopefully they will be able to expand and get a place with more seating and a restroom. read more

Man this place was 6/5 stars. After they reopened though nothing tastes the same. I gave it two tries just in case it was a fluke but both times it was just... different. I haven't gone back in a couple months. I don't mean to be harsh, they work hard and are super nice. The pizza is still good but not amazing. And the garlic bread cheese dip which was the best thing ever was now kinda meh. They must have changed recipes or something. I hope it is a temporary change. ***This change may have been to covid supply shortages I don't know. All I can say is I hope they go back to their old recipes. I will be back on day 1 if they do. Please let me know if it was just a bad couple months of supplies! read more

Just tried the low carb crust. Sorry but no. Terrible. Mushy, heavy, tasteless. The regular crust is thick but delicious. We'll stick with that. Also tried the cheese bread. Amazing. Definitely new fave! read more

Ordering was easy and food was ready as promised. I ordered a small Detroit pepperoni, being that it was my first time here along with a 6pc order of buffalo wings. Overall, both items were good. They use beef pepperoni, being that they are a halal establishment. I must say, it does not have the same taste as with pork and it took away the 'sparkle' of what I like my pizza's to taste like. However, the toasty cheese and buttery crust were good. The wings had a nice spice with the sauce, however, there was a cinnamon taste to the sauce, which I don't believe goes well. The 3* rating for me is just my preferred taste wasn't there. But if you haven't tried them, by all means, please do check them out. You might love them, as many of the reviewers have here. read more

I came in with 3 friends on a Friday night and it was 8:30. Tables filled, and people ordering after the 3 of us ordered separately. My 2 friend's get their order and we're sampling the food while we wait. We're in there for nearly an hour before they first, turn the light off on us because it was 20 minutes passed closing, but here I am waiting for my food that I ordered. I walk up to ask about my food, and they looked lost. An order of wings, an order of cheese bread, just forgotten. They started scrambling, but I was already over it and didn't want to wait. I asked for a refund and the cashier gave me a full refund. They tried to give me an old pasta, but it wasn't what I ordered, too much time had passed and I just wanted to get out of there. The pictures looked good and I wanted this place to be good. It fell flat for me, the bread is fresh and you can taste the garlic but the cheese was minimal. Their pizza was crispy and good flavor, but way overpriced. Can't say anything about the wing's because my friend's didn't order them. That was the only way I got to try their food. I don't think that I'll come back again, bad experience. read more

New pizza spot! Delicious, thick crust, Detroit style pizza! Halal too!! Hubby and I tried the cheeseburger and pepperoni pizzas (small size). Each pizza had 8 square slices. 2 slices were more than enough for each of us! The crust is thicker but they also add a lot of toppings. The crust is crunchy and delicious. Overall, the pizzas were sooooo good. The cheeseburger pizza actually tasted like a cheeseburger and the pepperoni pizza had 2 layers of pepperoni. Can't wait to try this place again! read more

This place was a great find!! Had the summer bbq pizza and it did not disappoint! The outer crust had this crispy cheese lining that was simply delish and went well with the picked onions. Also had the garlic parmesan wings. It seemed like a different take on the classic wings, it wasn't crispy with sauce on it but had this layer of spicy marination on it that was packed with flavor. And the jalapeno/garlic ranch dip (forgot which one it was) was amaaazing! Would definitely visit again to try the other items on the menu. read more

We tried Xtra Cheese on a recommendation- I'm so glad we did!! The staff was super friendly and welcoming. They asked if it was our first time and helped me order. We had the Birria and a pepperoni pizza. Omg! Both were amazing!!!! The crispy cheese on the outside is perfect! Both pizzas were full of flavor. The consommé for the Birria was flavorful. Wow! I brought 2 pizzas and some pasta home for m family today and everyone was blown away by the smell, look and then the taste. Not your average pizza place. Detroit style pizza. Starting with the crust, it was amazing. Not greasy, not hard, it was crunchy and baked to perfection. I got the 7 cheese pizza and it was delish!! Perfection in every way. My sister and mother loved the Mediterranean pizza. So many fresh toppings on it. Unbelievable. Pasta was a hit with the little ones in the house. Good portions, no skimping on the toppings. New favorite pizza place. Can't wait to get again. Check them out, you won't be disappointed. read more

This Detroit-style pizza is sooo good! It's thick, crispy on the sides, pizza sauce is delicious. I love it! They have a small portion with only 4 slices but 1 slice is very filling! AMAZING! Outstanding Detroit Style Pizza with the crusted cheese edges. So good. After being extremely disappointed by another establishment last, Xtra Cheese made up for it ten fold. This place is a MUST! Everyone in the area needs to know about Xtra Cheese! Tucked away in a little strip mall if you were just driving by you probably wouldn't stop but do yourself a favor and go get yourself a pizza at Xtra Cheese. You won't be disappointed! read more

Oh my. YES!!! My partner and I were feeling a little adventurous and thought we'd try this new place. A bit intimidated first by the price but we went for it. And I'm SO GLAD we did! Food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the carne asada pizza and my partner the burger pizza. Both exceeded our expectations. So many unique flavors and it JUST WORKED. The smalls were plenty for us. If we would've ordered just one pizza, lunch would've been less than $8 each (and it would've been more than enough). We'll probably share one pizza next time but, for now, we'll enjoy our leftovers for dinner. read more

Excited to try this place. Ordered 1/2 7 cheese and 1/2 cheese burger pizza to go. Taste was mediocre. Cooked pickles do not taste as good as fresh pickles. Pretty bland cheese burger taste. 7 cheese was better but taste was mild. Maybe other types are better but we did not like these two types. Good concept and interesting but flavor has to come out more. read more

Wow the pizza here is so good that you can't stop eating it! I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. Very great versions of Detroit style pizzas. We did half and half so my boyfriend got pepperoni and I got the chicken shawarma. I wish we had gotten more of the shawarma he ended eating my side too haha! read more

I came here for the first time today as I happened to be in the area and I was craving some authentic, quality pizza. I noticed Xtra Cheese and decided to give it a try. Upon entering, I was greeted by a very friendly staff as they were already hard at work making pizzas. The environment was clean and open with the cutest wall art depicting pizza ingredients on one side and unique "pizza wings" on the other - great for that perfect instagram photo op. Xtra Cheese particularly caught my eye due to their selection of unique pizzas, and the one that caught my eye most was the cheeseburger one. I love anything cheeseburger and pizza so this sounded like a fantastic combination. Additionally, I wanted to try the Mediterranean as well for a more authentic feel. After placing my order, I got a nice view of the pizzas in making as they have an open kitchen view, and I could see them making them with what looked like fresh ingredients and from scratch. This was confirmed later when I took my first glorious bite, but I'll get to that in a moment. When my order was ready, they kindly handed me my very warm boxes of pizza and I could instantly smell the delicious aromas seeping through the box. The car ride home was very pleasant as the aromas filled my car and I could not wait to try them - and wow!! I was not disappointed. Let's start with the Cheeseburger Pizza. This is honestly the best pizza I've ever had and I was so impressed by how perfectly proportioned all the ingredients were together - I loved that beefy cheesiness with the juiciness of the onions, tomatoes, pickles, and sauce to balance, and on top of that deep dish pizza dough! It's very clearly hand made with a lot of care as it is so soft on the inside and crispy to perfection on the outside. My mouth is drooling just talking about it. Like I said, they got the proportions just right, and when you think of a perfect Cheeseburger pizza, this is it. The Mediterranean Pizza is also very delicious as well and unlike any I've ever tasted. I'm a huge veggie lover so I loved all the different veggies paired together with the stronger tastes of the garlic, olives, and feta cheese. I felt pretty fancy eating this one so I definitely wanted to take my time enjoying every flavorful, unique bite. Both pizzas also had the perfect amount of "Xtra Cheese" so they definitely hold true to their name! I can honestly go on but I'd rather eat another slice now from my almost empty boxes. 10/10 would definitely recommend, try it and you won't be disappointed. They have been marketing all over social media and from social apps it looked like the pizzas and pastas will be adorable. I liked the variety in flavors among pizzas especially like some types of pizzas you can't find at any regular pizzerias. I personally found their taste average or below average. The pizza's crust was bit hard and ground meat in pizza was not properly grounded. I feel like they need a better cook. read more
