I'm gonna tell you right now. This is a delicious pizza well worth waiting for I drove by and noticed it decided to pull in. Ordered the uptown special the perfect blend of vegetables, cheese, marinara sauce, and meat. I was told it would take about 35 minutes but trust me as soon as I've been in that pizza I don't even remember how long it took all I know I went straight to heaven. This pizza is delicious. They have so many others to try but they also offer sandwiches here. Parking is good and I don't regret a single second stop by or even find out if you can call Dean but when you bite into it, you'll feel the same sensation I did... Before Uptown Pizza Co. existed, this was the location of much loved but much misunderstood Lamppost Pizza, which was(/is?) a chain in name and logo only--I believe every single Lamppost location was franchised. I know this one was. I'm not going to bore or bedazzle or befuddle or bedraggle you with (too many) stories of Uptown Whittier's Lamppost Pizza, mostly because most of those stories are my brother's and his friends' and his former coworkers' (sometimes the same people) stories to tell. I'll only mention Big Frank (RIP) and Tim and Jason and Louie ("Yeah!" "yeah!")--yes, that Louie (RIP). But Lamppost is in Uptown Pizza Co.'s DNA, or at least Big Frank's special, super secret sauce is baked into the walls of this place's pizza oven, because all these years and decades later, the pizza from Uptown Pizza Co. tastes very similar to the pizza from Lamppost Pizza in the 1980s and 1990s, which is to say that it's very good. "But John S.," you're probably shouting from your easy chair, "if the owner(s) of Uptown Pizza Co. bought the business from Big Frank, then he probably gave the owner(s) his recipe!" And there, my dear, intrepid, and sadly all too impressionable readers, you would be dead wrong. Frank never shared his recipe with anyone. Not with Tim (his most trusted manager), not with his two sons (whom he hoped would take over the business), and not even with his wife. It was such a secret that Frank refused to make the sauce at the pizza place, lest someone should see him and reverse engineer the recipe by sight. No, he assembled the sauce packets on the kitchen table in his house on Mollyknoll Avenue way on the eastern side of Whitter, loaded the packets into his truck, and brought them to work each day. Perhaps unknowingly, Uptown Pizza Co. pays a kind of perverse homage to Big Frank's secretive sauce packets by giving away its Parmesan cheese in little plastic dime bags. The pizza is very good. Every time my brother is in town and we're talking about ordering pizza, he's the first to volunteer to drive all the way to Uptown to pick it up. If these walls could talk, they'd get an R-rating for bad language alone. And don't even get me started on what transpired in the alley behind the pizza shop. Came here looking for a slice deal (didnt have), but left ordering a personal pizza. Pizza was good, crunchy and pretty tasty.. i ordered with Pepperoni and mushrooms. At first, when i got it, i was like wow, this is small, but its actually quite filling. Not to thin, and not too thick. Sauce i thought was really good. I was going to pay using my debit, but the total for the one topping personal was 9.45. There is a charge for anything under 10 if using your debit card, so i just added another topping. The place itself is small.. Had one table in the front of the shop, that would probably seat 3. Its more of an order and pickup place than sit down. Doesn't matter when I come or who is working, service here is always great. I usually order over the phone and opt for pickup, but they do offer delivery too. Unless they're super busy it usually doesn't take more than 20-30 for the pizza to be ready. Their pizzas are always perfectly topped and the crust is incredible. Easily my favorite pizza in whittier. Their salads are awesome too! read more

Best pizza in Whittier in my opinion. We love the Uptown Special Pizza and we add jalapeños to it. Since it has about 6-7 toppings they have to leave it in the oven a little longer so it all cooks evenly and the crust comes out nice and toasty!!! Such a great hole in the wall place. I love there pizza but it's just that male delivery guy is rude and you see him messing with his privates when behind the courter. He in my opinion should be fired due to the fact he is inconsistent. I ordered a small pizza, veggie for delivery. While ordering I asked pricing for the pizza it was 15.99 I asked price for gluten free crust they stated it was the same price. ( 1 st red flag) . The pizza took an hour. I love right down the street. It came out was burnt, small, they delivered it I opened it up it was burnt even the cheese was burned I ran outside to Tell them and there was two people and they both got out of the car and approached me and became rude I had already paid for it he had the $20 in his hand and I told him I wanted my money back and he could get his pizza back the girl came out of the car very aggressive stating that I will not get a refund and that I have to have the pizza I told her to call her boss she didn't want to and said that I would only get $15 back because it's a $5 service charge for delivery I grabbed my 20 bucks and gave her her pizza and told her goodbye. I immediately called her manager or his manager and explained it he did nothing acted like he didn't care I would never ever go to this place or recommend it. Hole in the wall with really good pizza. The people there are very kind and polite and make you feel welcome. Pretty much pickup only except for one table for 3. The pizza dough is not thick or thin and is cooked perfectly. The bottom of the crust allows you to hold a slice without it flopping over and the outer crust if flaky outside and soft baked dough inside. It's a bit pricey for a pizza so hopefully it doesnt go up or it will be time to search for another spot. read more

I was in the area and thought I'd bring some pizza back to treat a couple of my coworkers to lunch. I'm glad I chose this place. I got a large pepperoni pizza and a large half "uptown Italian" and half "meat lovers". The toppings, sauce and the ingredients tasted really fresh and of high quality.
