We immediately attempted to call JES Towing at 2:37 a.m., but no one answered. At the time, Google listed the business as closed on Sundays, with hours resuming at 12:00 a.m. Monday, so we waited and called again later Sunday morning. When we reached an employee by phone around 10:45 a.m., we simply attempted to clarify the operating hours due to the discrepancy shown online. Instead of calmly explaining, the employee immediately became argumentative and accused me of having an "attitude" for asking a reasonable question. That accusation was repeated multiple times throughout the entire interaction. We arrived at the towing lot shortly before noon. The employee recognized us based on the vehicle we requested and initially began unlocking the gate. Before any payment was made, we calmly and reasonably asked for two standard items that any consumer is entitled to request: an itemized receipt and documentation authorizing the tow of my specific vehicle (vehicle release/tow authorization records). The moment documentation was requested, the employee's demeanor changed entirely. He became visibly agitated and stated, "She was being a smart ass on the phone, so we're closed Sundays," referencing the earlier call. He then shut the gate, walked back to his truck, partially got inside it, and threatened to withhold my vehicle unless we took it "now or tomorrow." This threat was made solely because documentation was requested, not because we refused to pay. Throughout the interaction, the employee repeatedly called me a "smart ass," spoke down to me, belittled us, and used profanity, including the word "fucking," directed toward us. This behavior was constant, hostile, and completely unprofessional. Despite this, we paid the $250 towing fee in full in order to retrieve the vehicle. After payment was made, the employee still refused to provide the towing authorization or vehicle release documentation and repeatedly told us to "read the sign" at the apartment complex. A general tow-away sign posted on private property is not vehicle-specific documentation and does not provide records tied to an individual tow event, such as the date, time, location, or authorization basis for my specific vehicle. On video, the employee contradicted himself by stating that everything is "done digitally," while simultaneously claiming the apartment complex sign served as the documentation. Directing a customer to a sign does not satisfy a request for records associated with a specific tow. When my friend stepped in to support me due to the increasingly hostile situation, the employee's behavior escalated further. He dismissively referred to my friend as "buddy," told him to "back up," stated he was not speaking to him, and attempted to shut him down entirely while continuing to argue with me. This shift in demeanor was noticeable and uncomfortable, and the interaction felt increasingly unsafe. After payment had already been made and documentation was still being refused, the employee threatened to call the police simply because we continued requesting legally required records. At that point, we had access to the vehicle, it was cold outside, and the situation had become unproductive and intimidating. We left and went directly to the police station, where officers confirmed they already maintain a system for tracking complaints involving this company due to ongoing customer service issues. All video evidence and information were provided to them. We do not dispute that towing is enforced at the apartment complex, and we accept responsibility for parking there. The issue is not the tow itself. The issue is the intimidation, verbal harassment, refusal to provide documentation, contradictory statements, threats, and predatory conduct--particularly toward college students. Additionally, we were charged $250 when the legal maximum should have been $210 under state law, and we were never provided a vehicle release/authorization form, which creates further issues regarding proof of lawful vehicle release. This entire interaction is documented on video. Do not support this JOKE of a "business".

We were driving on 81 north to Manassas when the air conditioning started blowing warm air. Then the low battery light came on. Then some dash lights went out. We knew something was wrong and were just before the Christiansburg exit, so I quick looked on yelp and saw Ashton's Place not far with a 5 star review. So I started calling and Ashton answered and as I was on the phone explaining, the car stopped completely and we just made it into a little store just down the road from Ashton's. He said stay there, I'll walk down to you. He came with a portable battery & got us started. We drove to his shop and he took a look right away, and told us what it would cost and how long he estimated, which would put it past his closing time. He asked if we had somewhere to stay overnight; he assured us he would try and get it done or if he couldn't that night, definitely the next morning. He even recommended a hotel (which we loved!) and asked his coworker, Joe, to drive us there! Near the hotel was a restaurant we were eating. Halfway through dinner he called to say it was ready! They had stayed after closing to finish it. He even brought it to us at the restaurant! I don't know about you, but I've never had better service than that! Not many would go the extra mile(s) he did! Fair prices, outstanding service, honest, friendly... treating you like family. Can't recommend more highly!! Thank you Ashton and Joe. You made our breakdown into a easy, and stress-free experience.

He was completely taken advantage of and LIED TO regarding water damage to the truck. Unfortunately I was working when my s/o was dealing with this trashy place, and he bought the truck for more than what it was worth as he was desperate and in a hurry. They are terrible negotiators and terrible business people. I'd buy a truck from a monkey before buying from this place again. A business that lies and manipulates an individual who is in a hard spot and genuinely doesn't know any better is a business that deserves to fail. I'm sure in continuing like this they will surely find their own demise, but if I can help even one person from getting stuck in a bad situation with money hungry people, the time to write a bad review would be worth it.
