The teachers are some of the best in their field. They are active and involved and teach and correct like you truly matter to them. Ms Sherese's ballet class left me with a serious workout and gave me opportunities for improvement along the way. This studio is my first choice for dance ! Try it, you'll agree!

The highlight of the summer was having the opportunity to learn from and dance with Lauren Anderson! I ended up taking dance at UH for the fall semester, so unfortunately I have not been back to dance here. The owner and founder, Sherese Campbell, taught the ballet class we were in. She's inspiring and really makes you want to dance better. The students are awesome, some of them are City Dance Company dancers and they are just as inspiring. Our summer intensive class ranged from teenagers to adults in their 30's-40's. The summer intensive classes are cool because you do (for example) ballet one week and hip-hop another week (for the first 1.5 hours) and then like yoga or tap for the second 1.5 hours. Intensive classes are usually from 9 AM - 3 PM, but I only went from 9 AM - noon and it was $150/week vs. $250/week. Currently don't have time/money to take intensive classes again, but would love to go back soon. It's pretty convenient if you live near Rice/ West U. If you are unsure about anything or have reservations, Sherese is always willing to help and encourage you!

We signed up for a package of 5 classes to prepare for our first dance at our wedding after hearing about their company at a wedding expo. Paul was our instructor and he was so helpful in creating a choreographed routine for our song and preparing us for the big day. He recommended classes 1-2x per week leading up to our wedding which was a good schedule. With lots of practice in between lessons we were able to keep up with the learning and it was a big success! Paul was really great in assessing our dance capabilities (as neither of us have a background in dance), and creating a routine that was suited to our level. I appreciated the time he took with each of us to make sure we had our steps down. He was very kind and flexible as were all the staff at the studio. We even stopped by to practice on the hardwood floors when we didn't have a lesson scheduled and they were kind enough to let us play our music overhead on the speakers. This is a great studio for anyone learning a wedding dance or looking for dance lessons in general. When we have some more time we are thinking of going back for Jiving lessons!

As a former dance teacher myself, I couldn't dream of a better place for my child to dance. The Lab is spacious, clean, and bright. Both of the studios have viewing windows, so parents can observe their child's classes. There are even 2 locker rooms for changes between classes. When I first saw the schedule, I thought the classes were long in duration for the 6-8 year olds. I was wrong, the teachers are so amazing that they keep them engaged for 90 minute ballet lessons! The classes are longer than most that you will find in the area, because of the individual attention they give to each student. I can't say enough about the instructors. I have had a pleasure to observe all of them. They are all professional, and have great choreography. The best thing is that they all make great corrections to technique and posture in a positive manner. They do not lazily overlook things that can lead to injury. Also, the most important is their is no favoritism. Everyone gets the same amount of love and attention. From talking to other parents in the studio, my daughter isn't the only one practicing everywhere we go (even the grocery store). Most importantly, all of the girls beg to come to The Houston Dance Lab, every day of the week. As if 5 hours a week isn't enough. All in all, he instruction tops the charts and the Lab is a HAPPY place. We love it here, and are so excited to watch the Lab grow.

Don't lose heart, parents, this journey requires you to let go and let the teachers do their job. The dynamic of the class varies, but the teachers are consistent. Observe the more advanced classes, the dancers probably grew up and looked just as confused as your 3yo does. But they will get it, and they will be better for having been a cookie joe dancer.

My initial impression was good because they have a lot of good morals and they are actually teaching the little girls good technique. However, after a few months, I started to notice that there was a lot of distraction happening, especially in the little girls class. The instructors focus was to try and convince even younger little girls maybe two years old and younger to try and come in to take the class. The instructors attention to the girls sitting on the floor with their parents Was more than 50% of the class this really distracted my child. I had my in-laws and my husband also take my daughter when I could not and they did not have any nice things to say about the class. They mentioned that expectation was way too strict for little girls And my husband did not like the atmosphere that was set by the owners-- he said that they were not friendly toward him at all as a first time parent parent taking his child. As a dancer, myself with a degree, I also understand that temperature is important in the studio, but in the summer months it was way too hot almost 80°. I don't think this is an appropriate temperature. I don't think they carry themselves in a nurturing and comforting way. We have found the climate to be very militant as opposed to relational. They are diplomatic and do nice things for the community, but not enough to keep us here. We will not return to take class.

There are 2 locations for this studio, with most classes being held in the evenings at the Sugar Land location, and Friday and Sundays being at the Stafford studio. They offer 1 class each evening usually and on Saturday mornings. You'll find yourself dancing to all the latest hits (but there's a good musical variety). They also have regular workshops and monthly events such as line dancing, bachata and lyrical work shops, and different dance class formats inclusive of yoga (Dance RX or Zumba like--Dance nonstop). The community here is amazingly supportive and the instructors are all fabulous. I love a workout where it doesn't feel like a workout, and that's what this is for me. I enjoy the challenge of learning a new routine and I'm never bored which I often find happens to me with other workouts or studios. My confidence as a dancer has improved drastically since joining last year. Give it a try if you're interested even if you are like me and never thought of yourself as a "dancer", you might be surprised to find your rhythm!

During the class, you learn step by step choreography to go along with a song of the day. The location is tricky to find because there isn't a big banner: it is the LAST (far left/back corner) suite facing Settlers Way Blvd, before the shopping center ends and turns into a neighborhood of houses. I've only done Zumba classes before, so I'll compare/contrast to DivaDance: In Zumba, you do 4-5 moves per song and do about 15 songs per class In DivaDance, you do 1 song per class and learn a music-video-like choreography routine with many moves. It sounds like a lot, but they break it down for you and you learn it bit by bit I couldn't stay for the full hour because of a schedule conflict, but overall I'd say it is fun and a mental workout to learn the routine. It wasn't much of a cardio workout because we weren't jumping and running around. I would say the cardio level is low to medium and definitely beginner friendly.
