Yafo Ballantyne OK folks, as you can tell, I got the same as last time and yes, it was incredible! That chicken schnitzel? Hands-down, my favorite. I cut the chicken cutlet this time so you could see thick, tender. The outside crust was so lightly crispy and even if it sits? It doesn't lose the crisp! This time I tried the kids meal lemon chicken fresh hummus on the side. First of all their hummus is excellent. The chicken was generous for me personally? A little dry but dipped in the hummus. It actually was very good. Their seasoned beets are very good. There's no vinegar in them, not tart. They are fresh beets. I did the chickpea salad, which was very good and of course healthy hello lol! Got the red cabbage again, which is excellent and the tabouleh salad, which is one of my favorites. I missed getting the cucumber, tomato salad again. Oh!? Yes, I tried the Greek yogurt mac & cheese? Wow! It's a winner! It's not like you would think - watery yogurt? Honestly, it was like cream cheese, it had a wonderful flavor. It was hearty not light. Very savory - an excellent side!

Yafo Kitchen has super fresh, flavorful food that always hits. The ingredients are high quality, portions are solid, and everything tastes made-to-order. A great spot when you want something fresh and satisfying.

Loved it! The bowl is huge! You get a base, 4 cold dips and 8 toppings - then you can add your protein. We got all that and a side of cauliflower which was delicious and a fresh pita for ~$18. You can definitely split a bowl and be very full. So glad we got a Yafo in ballantyne. Our new fav quick food spot.

Love this place! Service was so helpful and friendly, and the food was very fresh and delicious. I tried the build-a-bowl with Greek lemon chicken and allll the toppings and it was fantastic. It was so large I took half home. I don't know where else you can get a meal (or two in my case) this healthy, plentiful, and customizable for $15. They also have a great patio.

AVOID THIS LOCATION!…read more My family that resides in Clt started coming to this location because of the proximity to their house, but after this past visit on June 20th, none of us will ever be back again after the absolute awful service! And, as anyone knows, you can have amazing food, but if the people and service are terrible that can ruin any dining experience! We were sat in an almost empty restaurant just after 8pm; the waiter came to take our order and was very engaging initially. We were a party of 6, so we were going to order 4 diff apps prior to the mixed grill which is what we always get. We ordered the hummus, falafel (2 orders because only 6 come per order), baba ganoush, and beef sambousa. We were told they were "out" of the baba ganoush & sambousas cuz they would have to make them and it would take like an hr...this sounded odd cuz umm, don't you make all your food to order?? This immediately put both my stepmom (who is Moroccan) and myself off and we were actually going to leave, but we were introducing my brother's GF to this ethnic food style & him + my dad convinced us to stay, so we just added salad and lentil bean soups). We ordered drinks (the GF & I were the only ones that didn't order sodas; she ordered a pot of Karak tea for her + I to share & I ordered a sparkling water). After 10mins no drinks in sight we were like "ummm?" then at just over 15mins they brought us the apps but no drinks?!? The drinks came separately a few mins later...all except the tea. For $3 on the menu I expected a bottled sparkling water, instead I got flat water from the soda fountain. I told the waiter this and he said he'd try again and if it wasn't "sparkling" then what did I want to drink instead...I said just a filtered water w/lemon. We were missing an order of falafel (were told they only had the one order and would have to wait for the 2nd, so we just canceled it; again whyTF did they not have anything on the menu at 8pm on a Sat!?) and they only brought one basket of pita for the hummus; we asked for a 2nd basket. The lentil soup (my stepmom makes better at home) + salads were mid at best. 20mins later they bring the main course, but we still had not gotten the pot of tea we ordered nor did the guy ever come back w/my "sparkling" or plain water...we'd had enough of this horrible service & I went in search of someone (the place again was empty & I could not find our waiter or anyone anywhere). Finally I see this lady who had attitude (I have a sneaking suspicion she pretended not to understand english when convenient) when I asked WTAF was up w/my water & the tea! Again, another 10mins w/neither showing up at the table...we were also still waiting for the 2nd basket of pita, but it was moot as we'd already begun to eat the main dish...my stepmom went to the lady & spoke to her in arabic and was like "where is her water and where is her tea!?" the lady said she was sorry she didn't know we didn't get them (BS btw) that's when my stepmom asked to speak to the mgr. We also wanted to order Knfa for dessert, so my stepmom told the lady we were ordering 3 now since they were taking forever to get anything to us, and if they didn't bring them when we were done eating, we would not be paying for them. THAT part seemed to get through at least! Halfway (almost an hr at this point) through the meal they finally come w/my water and the pot of Karak tea. At this point we hadn't seen the male waiter who took our order initially; he shows up & is acting huffy (the audacity tbh!) & tries telling me he never said he'd bring a 2nd sparkling or reg water & when both me and my stepmom (cuz she was sitting next to me & heard the exchange called him out) he got all defensive & said "well I guess I misunderstood" so then we are like "why an hr for the tea?" "Wellll, that's how long it takes to make!" I called BS & told him if that was the case he should have told us that expectation when we initially ordered! He then goes "Well I had to go to storage to find it cuz we were out!" K, howTF is that OUR problem!? Just tell us that so we know what to expect!? No apology was made and we were not credited for the tea nor the $3 sparkling water which I never received. Also, received the Knfa (shockingly, right after the meal) but it was served w/o the pistachios it was supposed to come with. When asked for them, we were told they were "out"...because of course they were! Absolutely HORRIBLE staff and service here; the food was good tho, but when u have an experience like that it still leaves a bad taste!

I didn't want yellow rice, so I ordered the potatoes and cauliflower as my sides. The sides were $9 each, and the portions were very generous. However, both needed more seasoning or salt. The chicken, on the other hand, was a little too salty and had several burned pieces. I understand that some people enjoy charred chicken, but this was too much char for my preference. I also strongly prefer white meat and assumed the kebabs would be made with chicken breast, but they contained a mixture of white and dark meat. Garlic sauce is usually my favorite part when ordering from similar restaurants, but I did not enjoy the garlic sauce here. It tasted more like sour cream mixed with garlic, which was unusual and not what I expected. The cauliflower was also different from what I anticipated. I expected battered, fried cauliflower, but it appeared to be a large piece of plain cauliflower dipped directly into hot oil. There was also a significant amount of oil pooled at the bottom of the container. Overall, the portions were generous and the delivery was timely, but the flavors and preparation just weren't for me.

I got crab rangoons for my appetizers. They were good but a lot more breading than I would like. My meal was the chicken and waffles. Boneless chicken for chicken and waffles is always a negative for me because it's not my thing. They were also thighs too which I wasn't expecting. The waffle itself was good and came with a hot honey type of syrup. I had to get more syrup because it wasn't enough for the portion size in my opinion. It can be hard to find if you are coming in from the main street as it is located inside a building that has other restaurants and stores inside. But it is rather spacious inside with lovely minimalistic and neutral vibes. The service was pretty great as we were given recommendations and our water was continuously refilled. My friends and I got the Crab Brik, Wagyu Burger, Shakshuka, and Avocado Toast. The Crab Brik came in little triangular wontons that were fried to perfection. I think real crab meat was used which is always nice. There was some aioli on the plate, but certainly not enough to dip with meal in. The Avocado Toast was recommended by our server and it was a top tier choice! It had chili dukka on it so everything from the eggs, sourdough bread, and avocados tasted very seasoned, despite the dish sounding a bit plain. They do not skimp out on the avocado here. My friend said the Wagyu Burger tasted good and I tried the Shakshuka (for the first time in my life) which tasted very tomato-y but still yummy with the bread! I think this is a cute place, especially for brunch. I would rate this place 4.5/5 stars if I could. I want to come back and try their dinner menu which has more food options.
