How nice is it to find Nepali food in Indy? We were so excited to try a new cuisine and Yak & Yeti did not disappoint. The traditional momo and jhol chicken momo was very aromatic and filled with flavor- the curry sauce for dipping was a nice spin on dumplings. Oh, and big portions! You HAVE to get the Kashmiri naan. 5.27.26 back again! Hubs ordered his favorite - the chicken thali (dat bahl) and I tried something different than my usual - this time, I got the chicken chowmin. Like everything, it was Huge and Delicious -- and I had enough leftovers that we had it for three more big meals. I usually order take-out but did dine in this time. We made reservations and were immediately seated. Our server, Ranjita was very attentive and helpful with our selections. Appetizers: steam paneer dumplings. The dumplings were steamed and soaking in a pool of a tomatoe chutney sauce that was amazing. Stopped here for an early lunch around 11 am with a friend and were the first people there! I highly recommend visiting for lunch if you want to be seated right away and enjoy the calm ambiance of this restaurant. The space is beautiful and I love that they have a tv by the front door showing stunning videos from the Himalayan region. I got the Masala chai and it was perfectly sweetened and warm for the cool weather outside. My friend and I ordered the chili yak momos and I am still thinking about them days later! We then wanted something that would give us a bit of everything so we ordered the non veg thali with lamb. I was ambitious and ordered a spice level of 6. I can handle spice pretty well but next time I would take it a notch down to 5. There was so much food included in this ordered and we barely made a dent by the time we left. The lamb was tender, the lentils tasty, and the cauliflower was the perfect addition! I love gulab jamun and was glad to see it was included with the dish! Our waitress was so kind and brought out a lot of carry it dishes so we could pack everything away neatly. I was happy to share some with my housemates and gave the rest for leftovers for myself! Located in a strip mall this restaurant looks like it might not be amazing, but inside it is very well appointed with dark wood furniture and comfortable atmosphere. The service was impeccabl, of course it wasn't very busy when we came, but the waiter was there with anything that we needed. We tried an appetizer with our lunch entrées, and it proved to be way too much food. The Himalayan spices from Nepal are very complex and full of flavors. I was extremely excited to try Yak and Yeti. I want to start with the good. The restaurant is very clean, we were immediately greeted. The menu is large and there are lots of options. My friend and I both ordered appetizers I went with the chicken momos and she ordered the chili chicken. The chicken momos comes in a sweet and sour broth. The broth was flavorless. I ordered the spice level 10 and it was missing spice. The momos were watery and needed to be seasoned. The chili chicken was tender but again lacked substance we were disappointed lack of seasoning everything so far was bland. For entrees she went with the butter chicken and I got the lamb curry. The chicken was disappointing and again lacking flavor. The lamb was again underwhelming not as spicy as I'd expect. All in all we left unsatisfied we barely ate our food and it felt like a waste of money. Service was fine but I'm not sure I'd go back. read more

Yak & Yeti is by far, hands down, the best Indian food in the county. We get take out every time we want indian and we have never had a bad meal. The service is amazing. Kind, and helpful. One time my door dasher left 2 bags of food at the restaurant, and I could not get ahold of him. What a delicious dinner experience! We've lived nearby for 3 1/2 years and sad to convey we're just trying this restaurant for the first time. Everything we tried was delicious. The service was excellent and we even tried a dessert which unfortunately was inhaled before I could snag a picture. (*Yelp informed me this location needed more pictures as we browsed the menu). The pics of the menu on this page are still accurate as of this post. So many items to choose from it was hard to decide! We selected spicy level 6 for our entrees, which was perfect for my palate and even my son & husband. Although they're much more tolerable of spice than I am, it was great for everyone at our table to share and eat family style with all selections. The dining room is quiet, clean and offers lots of booth or table seating, along with space for larger groups. They were flexible to accommodate my need to elevate my cast while dining, and one important but often overlooked issue is a clean (non layered greasy floor) while using crutches. Bravo! I'd rank 10/10 if it was an option: 1) no waiting to get a table on a Friday evening, 2) close parking, 3) quick service for a hungry girl, and 4) delicious! It really sets the tone for a relaxed meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the overall dining experience feel pleasant and welcoming. Also, the Thukpa was a standout! Rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying probably one of the best I've had in a while. Highly recommend ordering it. Now, a few areas that could use improvement: I ordered the non-veg thali, but it didn't quite live up to the name. It came with just one chicken curry, and the rest was vegetarian dal, gobi fries, achar, and rice. While everything tasted good, it felt more like a veg thali with a chicken side dish. I expected at least one more non-veg item maybe a second chicken curry or even a small chicken appetizer to make it feel more complete. Also, there was no roti or chapati, which seemed like a strange omission for a thali meal. Some kind of bread would've really tied everything together. Holy portion size! Yes, I had to lead with that because I was able to get about 4 meals out of my dinner. WOW. A friend (Erin Q. - check out her awesome review!) and I met here for dinner and got a smattering of ALL of the things - and nothing was subpar. The masala tea to start was perfect. The dumplings looked hand made (and were tasty). The samosas were HUGE and delish. I ate on my Veggie Biryani for 3 days. Also must mention that prices were very reasonable! Highly impressed and we will come back! Service is quick and friendly. I like the interior, it seems upscale but also hints of authenticity. I'm not sure what the crispy bread was that was complementary, but it was a great start- we loved the two dipping sauces. So fresh! I had the butter chicken and was highly impressed. I love that they let you choose your spice level on scale of 1-10. I opted for 4 and it was what I was looking for. My husband has the shrimp copper pot. He really enjoyed it especially with the yogurt sauce. He did say he wished there was more shrimp in it. We also enjoyed the bullet naan. Honestly- this was a great dining experience! There are several menu options at this restaurant and everything sounded delicious. I could not choose so I ordered a traditional Nepali thali vegetarian platter. We also ordered vegetable samosas. The food was plentiful, fresh, and excellent. The server did an excellent job of making sure that my friend and I had everything we needed and explained the menu, as well. This restaurant has excellent service and a quiet, soothing ambience. Everything was extremely clean and comfortable. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed my experience so much that I bought a gift card for an end-of-the-year gift for a teacher who enjoys trying new cuisines. I look forward to going back in the future! read more

Phenomenal food! Something I've never tried before! We went for Christmas dinner and it was great. Its a great place to go with a group of people and get a lot of apps to try different things. I don't remember the specific names of everything we got but I will do my best... we started off with the salmon it was soooo good! It came on a bed of veggies which were also delicious. Next we had the Palak Chat which is fried spinach I think. Wow! Never tried anything like it but it was so good. Next we tried some lamb, so tasty loved the seasoning. We also tried some Momos stuffed with yak which was delicious. Not pictured, we tried some fried rice and some curry. To end our meal we had Chai tea. One area for improvement would be the service. Now I will cut some slack with it being Christmas of course but it took forever to get a server to our table to order, get the check etc. I will definitely be returning! read more

What a unique experience!! I was looking for something other than burgers and pizza, which is hard to find in Indy, and I found it!!!! I walked in and was greeted with a polite smile that took me to my table. Surprising, as it was about 6:30 on a Friday night. I was immediately impressed with the beautiful restaurant, which is stylish and cute. The menu is vast, but also repetitive, which showed me that they can do what ever kind of entree you'd like, if you have the imagination for it. I ended up getting the samosas, which were a lot lighter and not so greasy as others I've had before. The little sauces that came with it were super delightful. The garlic naan was good, not the best I had, but good. My partner got a lamb curry, oh my god. I wish I had gotten that. So so tastey, light, and flavorful. He got level 4, and it was perfect. I got the lamb biryani, which I've never had before, and I'm glad I did. Every bite was different, and the bread that encased it was so soft and squishy. Loved it! I probably will get a curry next time, cause my partners was just so damn good. Bathrooms were spotless. I WILL BE COMING BACK. Can't wait to share my new discovery with the rest of my family. So cool having such a unique restaurant right here in Fishers! I've never been to a Himalayan restaurant before so I was excited to try this. We came for the momos and they were amazing! Fully stuffed with chicken and so tender and moist. We also got the lamb sheekh kabobs which were perfectly flavored. The chicken chowmein noodles and the curry was also really good. Their menu is huge with so many great options! Warning, if you come on a weekend for dinner be prepared to wait a while. We came in at 7pm on a Saturday and just stood at the entrance in a crowd of people for 30 minutes before someone greeted us. Lots of people started walking out because they got tired of waiting with no idea how long it would be. Once we were greeted, we sat down after about 10 mins after some tables cleared. But then we had to wait another 30 minutes to put our order in. So the whole process of dinner here took like 3 hours. It's understandable being busy on a weekend, but hopefully they work out some of the service kinks as they get more popular! read more

Similar to beef comes with a spiced sauce and a non spicy one. The service was great. Lots of refills on water. We ordered masala chai, navrata korma, naan and a vegetarian thali. Nepalese Vegetarian Thali was comprised of dal makani, saag paneer, and aloo gobi. Included were basmati rice, shoe string French fries, lime pickle, cucumber and pappadum. It also included a golab jamon for dessert. Prices were comparable with other specialty restaurants we frequent. Alcohol and lassis are available.
