Pretty decent taste and value, but save your money for a more premium establishment that uses binchotan. I went here on a busy Saturday night and had a fairly good experience considering pricing and relatively rarity of finding an outstanding yakitori place. I was initially impressed by the value factor, but when eating yakitori, I ultimately would prefer to pay more for better quality. * yakitori edomasa set The skewers were decent. The wing was pretty salty due to the miso glaze but tasty (and would have been fantastic with a beer). The tsukune was a little dry for me, but at least it was huge. It was also lacking the egg for the classic combo, but given this is basically a "value set", it makes sense that it's not included. The paitan in particular stood out and was rich and full of flavor. It might feel a little heavy to some, but I really enjoyed it. Hatsu was pretty good, didn't have a strong offal taste. The veggie dish and rice were also nice and appreciated as being somewhat novel to me. * bonjiri Tasty but the pieces were smaller than average. I prefer bigger plump pieces, but I realize that it's also difficult to remove the bone and cartilage during prep. * asazuke More strong and salty than the lightly seasoned vinegary type. While I would have preferred some sour and refreshing crunch, this was still pretty tasty and paired nicely with the rice. Would get again. Overall, the food was fairly good, somewhat cheaper than other places but also somewhat lower quality. Aside from the paitan, there also wasn't much "wow factor" like "this is really juicy and perfectly smoky". Upon doing some research, it looks like Edomasa uses electric grills and not binchotan. Malls have different fire codes and ventilation so that makes sense. Given that the restaurant had a busy dinner service, the quality dipped a bit while they were preparing skewers en masse compared to a less hectic weekday lunch service. While I still stand by the food being pretty decent, the chicken was a tad overcooked across the board and not as hot as I'd like. One last thing to add, some other places will advertise what farms they're getting the chickens from or the breed e.g. Jidori which also serves as another quality indicator.

30min wait for 3pax on a Saturday 8pm, spent ~$55 per person but we didn't get any drinks. Loved all their dishes, especially the chicken liver toast and saboro (minced chicken rice bowl)! I preferred ordering their yakitori with their house sauce instead of just sea salt. Super fast and nice service.

Small and cozy spot for skewers in Japantown. On the second floor of the west mall, so plenty of space to wait though the wait wasn't too long on a Friday night. Overall I thought the skewers were pretty good and reasonably priced! For 9 dishes it was $30 pp. I liked the chicken meatball, the scallop, miso cod, and the chicken thigh skewers we got. I wasn't a huge fan of the pork belly ones (too salty) or the steak (too chewy). Salmon was okay but didn't wow me. The chicken wings were good! I liked how it wasn't too fried. Ambiance inside is pretty loud and lively (seems like a spot to drink & eat). Service is very quick and efficient.

The plaza has so many options for dining and I'm slowly eating my way through! It was my first time having Japanese skewers and I must say I'm a big fan. The ambience inside was so moody and intimate, which is a nice hideaway from the many busy things to do/see inside the plaza. As soon as we sat down, I immediately felt relaxed. The servers were very attentive, making sure to clear the plates immediately to not clutter the table. We ordered what the server recommended which is 4 skewers or their popular meats which comes with soup, rice, veggies. Really really good!

We put a reservation on a Saturday night and were seated right away. We ordered: - Edomasa's favorite: this one was disappointing to me. The chicken meatball was tender and good, soup was not bad, but all 4 chicken skewers came out dry and tasteless - Chicken tail skewer: this one surprised me and was really good!! - Scallop skewer: this was my favorite of the night. Ended up ordering another skewer after! - Chicken cartilage: decent amount and it was good to snack on - miso glazed cod skewer: not bad but not a must - gizzards skewer: skip - shiitake mushroom skewer: ok The food came out at a decent pace. However, we chose this place to celebrate a birthday and the whole experience was a bit underwhelming.

I can always go for some yakitori. I ordered a small don to satisfy my cravings and it was the perfect amount for an early dinner. I come to japan town often to grab some food and drinks with friends, and I wanted to order something I hadn't tried here yet. It was quick to order take out online and I just walked around to some stores while waiting for my order. Here's my food review: Mini Kushiyaki Don, 9/10 - It has a little bit of everything, so delicious. I can't comment on the ambiance since this was a to go order, but looks cool from the outside haha. Hoping to visit again soon to sit down and try other menu items

I always appreciate a restaurant with a kids meal - making their tummy full and a mom's worries nonexistent. O R D E R E D - Yakitori Set - Kids Set - Ika Squid - Chicken Gizzard - Hamachi Kama - Beef Tongue - Marinated Quail Eggs V E R D I C T All of that for 3 people [2 adults and a toddler] and we did multiple orders of the ika because it was so good! The service was friendly, attentive and quick - Yona is amazing. She was able to help us figure out what my mom wanted to eat without knowing what my mom likes - superwoman powers! It's giving cozy vibes, there's booth seating and regular tables, along with bar top.

Truly excellent! The restaurant is in the Japantown mall and has simple, clean decor which I enjoyed. We also found service fast, friendly, and attentive. Everything we tried was also high quality and really delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Yakitori Edomasa set and their karaage. We also loved their specials that we tried - Wagyu, cuttlefish, scallop, and the cod (SOOOO tender ... wow!). The unagi skewer was delicious too. The rice was so good I had another order to go at the end If I am in the city and have a hankering for yakitori I definitely will be coming back!!

It was a busy day yesterday in Japantown for the annual cherry blossom festival!! Every restaurant was packed, but luckily this restaurant had a reasonable wait time of 20-30mins. At first I thought the menu was pretty small but then I realized I'd be getting a bento box full of food. I came in with a party of 4 and we all ordered the same thing, and each of us ate everything! The rice was perfectly soft and fresh, the soup was subtle but delicious, the salad was refreshing, and all the meat was cooked perfectly. I never order pork belly because it's too fatty, but this one was slightly crunchy and grilled. The steak was a perfect medium rare, and the chicken was also grilled nicely. Even though you only get three small skewers and two pieces of karaage, it's the perfect portion. We also enjoyed the high quality matcha iced tea.

Food was good! Just a little too small size of the skewer but overall is good. The unagi skewer was actually the best of all. ; very saucy and tasty! The soup was okay. Could be better when more tasty broth :) The service was good. Great welcoming. We were seated at the bar and only one downside was we were often overlooked by when we wanted to call for a check. The ambiance was okay. We were seated at the bar close to the entrance, so not really got to enjoy the ambiance inside but inside looks nice. Proper lighting! Th ventilation could be better though since it was a grilled food based :) Overall is good! We enjoyed our food and our time. Thank you!

Came here for lunch and joined the Yelp waitlist upon arrival. It was a Saturday afternoon so there was a little bit of a wait, but not too bad. We didn't realize it was in the mall before we had arrived, but being able to walk around helped pass the time. We were super excited to try out all of the different Yakitori options, but in order to do so, you do have to get a set at lunch, and then can order extras a la carte. We hadn't planned on getting all the extras because we really wanted the skewers, but we were able to share one meal, vs having to each get our own, and then could order all the extras our hearts desired. We went with the Deluxe teishoku, which came with rice, slaad, choice of appetizer, and 5 skewers. For the app we went with the chicken Karaage. We ordered double of some of the skewers so we could each have our own, and then shared a couple too. The momo and pork belly skewers were my favorite, and my boyfriend liked the beef and pork belly. Unfortunately my beef one was cooked a little more than his. Neither of us were a huge fan of the salmon one, it was a good portion, but the others were better to us. Service was very friendly and the spot has a nice lively feel to it.

My second visit here. People here are truly nice and friendly. The food is good as the last time. We ordered two sets and we absolutely loved them. The place is cute. Will be back again.

Yakitori Edomasa offered a great variety of skewers that had me wanting to keep ordering more. The restaurant is small and cozy, with a cute izakaya vibe. Service was fast and responsive, and the food came out quickly. Some of the skewers really stood out, while a few others were simpler but still enjoyable. Tara (Miso Cod) 7/10 - The miso cod was soft and tender with a great texture. The lemon added a nice acidity, but the overall flavor didn't stand out much, making it slightly underwhelming. Miso-Ra Buta (Pork Belly w/ Chili) 8.5/10 - The pork belly was very tender and not chewy at all. The miso and chili oil combo gave it a rich, savory flavor. I would definitely order this again. Shiitake Mushroom (6/10) - Nothing too special here. A typical mushroom skewer with light seasoning. Unagi 9/10 - One of the best bites of the meal. The eel had a sweet, smoky flavor and tasted very fresh. Sagari (Hanger Steak) 8/10 - A nicely cooked, smoky bite that tasted like a solid piece of steak. Very good, not crazy Yakitori Set Menu Edomasa 7/10 - We ordered the set menu toward the end since we were still hungry, and it did the job. It came with a good amount of food, though the soup and vegetables were average. The soup was clean and refreshing, and the vegetables were cooked nicely. The chicken skewers all tasted fairly similar, and while they were flavorful, I preferred most of the individual skewers we ordered. The chicken meatball was pretty different than everything else which made it stand out. Overall, I would definitely come back. The Edomasa set menu offers a solid amount of food for the price, but for more flavorful bites, I'd focus on ordering individual skewers.

Okay.... Waited an extra ten AND THEN ordered food. Got the nigiri sampler and added the uni and toro. That was a mistake, because for a whole $20 addtl., the sampler was so lackluster. The tamago was oddly colored and the rice was... chewy? We left the crab one because... unsure what kind of frozen crab that was. Meanwhile, this whole time we're waiting for our HH drinks while other people are receiving theres. Mind you, we ordered first. Also, I ordered a Sapporo which was a CAN. Had to bother multiple staff to get my can. Also... $5 HH special from regular $7 price? Idk... We also ordered the HH karaage and gyoza which came with a curry sauce that wasn't too bad, and some agadashi tofu that I actually liked. Ordered the chicken skins or Tori Kawa, and those were mediocre. Tried to order more HH items but the wait staff almost completely ignored us. Soon enough, HH is over! Worst happy hour experience ever. Never coming back to this place and recommend others to find another spot for sushi since there's waaayyyyy better spots in the city than this.

We went on a Monday night and were surprised that there was still over an hour wait, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation if you can. Thankfully, we were able to grab some drinks while we waited. The Yuzu Chu-Hi was probably my favorite drink of the night, it was light, refreshing, and easy to drink. For food, we started with the Teba No Karaage, which had a perfectly crispy exterior and juicy, flavorful meat. We also ordered the San Ten Mori, and the fish was very fresh. We especially enjoyed the yuzu wasabi that came with the dish, which added a nice kick and complemented the fish really well. We also tried the Chiizu Tori Katsu. The chicken itself was juicy, but I wished both the chicken and the cheese had a little more flavor. Most of the flavor came from the sauce on the side. I was also a bit disappointed by the snowy cabbage dressing, although that may just be because I'm used to the dressing being on the sweeter side. One thing that really stood out was the warm and welcoming service. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back to try the skewers next time.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. Anyways, they said they could swap out any of the soy soups for salt (but soy can encompass a lot of things so I still wasn't feeling super confident but we're going to give it a go). We go and I asked which 4 of the soups I was eyeballing don't have soy - the staff said they can accomodate and replace any of the soy soups with a salt broth. After we ordered, the staff came back and checked in to make sure that my partner also didn't have an allergy. And my dish came out, they told me there was no egg as its marinated in soy - perfect to me. I'm glad that was caught as not every establishments can account for everything. - Now I have a spot to (more safely) eat ramen! - I advise that if you do have an food allergy, do talk to the staff, and address your concerns such as cross contamination etc. I had a great experience, but I do find that because its not so regulated or understood and there is lack of education amongst the food/resturant industry - you always need to advocate for yourself and there is always a risk. I'm very apperciative of the staff here.

Okonomoyaki tater tots - 8.5/10 from a potato lover!! This does have some sort of cheese on it so beware if you don't eat it Hamachi Hand Roll - 9/10 SO GOOD. I think the rice is mixed in with soy sauce. It was super flavorful which I wasn't expecting Scallop Hand Roll - 8/10, the yuzu on top was absolutely delicious & scallop was very soft. Kobe Skewer - 7/10, it was good but nothing extraordinary. It'll hit the spot if you like meat skewers Yuzu Tori Skewer - 7/10, same as the kobe skewer, but the yuzu on top was delicious Niku Ramen - 8/10, good portion & very very flavorful. I'm glad that they gave a lot of meat in this. I shared this & they provided an extra bowl without me asking :) It's also not super spicy. Hokkaido Milk Pudding - 8/10, the pudding itself was so good but the sauce was a little too sweet for me. However, my partner has a sweet tooth and loved it :) Will totally come again, everything was so yummy and so glad to have tried it!

They have a simple menu that has a selection of small bites, yakitori, and other dishes to enjoy and you basically circle the ones you want and hand it back. Service was fairly quick and attentive, friendly, and helpful with figuring out the ordering. We enjoyed each item, especially the short rib and chicken thighs. ----TL;DR---- Pros: easy to get to location-wise, fast and friendly staff, good selection on menu, fresh and flavorful meats Cons: none Bottom Lind: if you are craving Japanese pub food like Yakitori, come here, it was great. The center literally was a bar and I could tell it was meant as a nighttime eatery. Their menu is composed pretty much of some izakaya type items and yakitori. I ordered only yakitori. The skewers were a bit pricey- 5-9$ each. But the quality was really good. Chicken heart and thigh were ultra juicy. Beef tongue was so soft and tender. Meat ball was ultra soft. Loved everything- no misses. Really surprised me. I highly recommend folks stop by for the skewers. Other than price I have no gripes at all! Just be prepared for the wait- with an empty restauraunt I waited 30 minutes.

Ambiance was so cute very intimate but not much conversational privacy. Ordered the chicken, wagyu steak, beef tongue, okra, eel, scallop, and pork belly skewers. Also had the yuzu cheesecake. All skewers were juicy and delicious 10/10 every item was a hit. Wagyu was soft and not too welldone, scallop was flavorful and soft, chicken was so juicy, tender, and had strong flavor. Yuzu cheesecake - small light fluffy with a light caramel like sauce - emptied the plate 10/10 Would definitely come again.

Okay back to the restaurant itself. Two words : hella cozy. We were jammed in this tiny corner next to another table of three. So much so, that we may should've just considered combining our space. And that would've been totally fine. Why? Because the food is super worth it, and the vibe is friendly and welcoming. Moku is totally cool and whatever the kitchen is grilling will have your mouth watering. Grilled chicken thighs - yup. order two. pork belly - that glaze. yum. bacon wrapped mushrooms - of course it's gonna be good. it's bacon wrapped for goodness sake. croquette - deep fried mash potatoes? yes, please. chicken karaage - much like the croquette but chicken instead. I regret not ordering the chicken meatballs. Although, it does give me another reason to return. Great spot. Good fun. You will mostly likely devour whatever you order at lightening speed. And don't sleep on their beer and sake selection. Lastly, tip your servers well. They're ninja-like service will make it seem like the food and drink are magically appearing while the empty plates and glasses are simultaneously disappearing.
