    Steak 1.5 order

We found this from Yelp and came for dinner for party of 3 without reservation. Love the animated decorations. Food and service were great, so glad waitress recommended ordering one and a half order on the popular dishes ( chicken thighs, steak and beef tongue) which turned out to be our favorites!

Food Rating: 8/10 Price: 8/10 Ambiance/Service: 10/10 Overall Rating: 8.5/10 It is a super cozy spot with standout service and a welcoming, intimate vibe. It was especially heartwarming to see regulars chatting with the staff over drinks. The restaurant is also accommodating with their skewer orders since they normally are served as a pair, but they'll adjust portions and pricing if you have an odd-numbered party. Negima (Thigh w/ green onion) - $5.50/skewer Rating (10/10) Very juicy and flavorful Bacon Enoki - $5.50/skewer Rating (10/10) I really enjoyed this skewer. Great flavor and cooked perfectly. Harami (Wagyu Koji Steak) - $8/skewer Rating (10/10) Super tender, juicy, and well charred! Zucchini - $3.50/skewer Rating (6/10) Nothing too special and the top pieces came out a little too charred. Eringil (King oyster mushroom) - $3.50/skewer Rating (8/10) The mushrooms were so juicy but needed a bit more salt to pop the flavor. Kiri Mochi - $6 Rating (10/10) I loved this dish. It was light and well fried. Yaki Onigiri - $7 Rating (5/10) It was a strange charred rice ball. Potato Croquette - $11 Rating (7/10) Good but would have liked it to be a bit more creamy. Yaki Ramen Stir Fried - $15 Rating (7.5/10) Tasted good but was nothing too special.

Got the harami -koji wagyu steak, eringii-king oyster mushroom, okra, spicy tuna crispy rice, sake tataki-salmon, and butterfish ceviche! Everything was so delicious, perfectly flavored, and so fresh. The butterfish ceviche was so unique and so good - never had that combo of flavors before. The spicy tuna crispy rice was so satisfying, and the Wagyu steak was a perfect mix of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Service was great and friendly, and the ambiance was a fun divey experience.

Teriffic yakitori skewer joint, good drinks, good food, most importantly good people Ordered a ton of skewers: tsukune, enoki beef, chicken gizzards, clam, okra, beef tongue... As well as a bunch of tapas (small dishes) hamachi collar, grilled rice ball, agedashi tofu, croquette, to name a few Eveything came pretty quick though it was all freshly grilled or fried in front of us. Service was lovely and attentive, definitely feel the izakaya feels here Definitely recommend and will come back

Came across Moku when looking for a little afternoon snack. The food was so good the snack accidentally turned into a whole meal! The restaurant is very cozy and focuses on bar seating where you can see your food being cooked in front of you and some other small tables. Ordered the following: - momo chicken thigh - negima chicken thing with green onion - chicken karaage - buta bara pork belly - smoked salmon - spicy crab Everything had a yummy charcoal taste and was super flavorful and cooked to perfection. Definitely coming back for another afternoon treat

This yakitori hole in the wall is such a cozy neighborhood gem! We came on a rainy Friday around 6 pm and were seated immediately. We liked sitting at the bar to watch the chef cook all the skewers, and the stickers, surfboard decor, and music created a chill "underground" ambiance. Everything was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, and the smoky flavor from the charcoal grill was nice and aromatic but not overpowering. The meats were so tender with my favorites being the Hokkaido scallop and chicken gizzard. The beef tongue, squid, chicken thigh with green onion, and smoked salmon belly (it was cool to get this cut) were great too! From the non-skewered part of the menu, we loved the fluffy and chewy kira mochi and crispy maitake tempura. We sprinkled some matcha salt, pepper, and Togarashi spice for additional seasoning. Our server was so kind and gave us a fun complimentary skewer of candies for dessert. I can't wait to come back and try the pork belly, octopus, and more!

What an experience! I came with a group of 4 and we opted for seats at the bar/counter instead of waiting for a table. My partner and I ordered together so we could try one skewer of everything we ordered and we shared appetizers with the group. We loved the harami-koji and the hamachi yakitori and the yaki ramen and karage were our favorite appetizers. Sitting at the bar isn't optimal for conversation across the group but it was fun to have a front row seat to our food being prepared. It's a small space and service wasn't the fastest but we all enjoyed the experience. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Excellent service, delicious food, great company. What else do you need? 10/10 is my rating and i'd come back again! The environment is super chill and it's very cozy sitting at the bar!

Came back recently and it's still delicious. They are back to the yakitori menu instead of the set menu. Always get the kiri mochi!! Kiri mochi Tori kaarage Dengaku Butabara King oyster mushroom Negi ma Momo chicken thigh Small cozy intimate seating. They expanded next door and will be opening up a sake bar. Mentioned they'll be open later too so a good late night eats option. Exciting.

Literally the best hole in the wall spot you'll ever experience. My partner and I have been going to Moku Yakitori-Ya for over 3 years and their food, sake, hospitable service, and overall ambiance just gets better and better overtime. RUN, DON'T WALK......and get the stir fried ramen and hrami. You won't regret either, just trust.

Cute and cozy yakitori place that mainly consists of a long bar and two tables that seat 6 each in the back. My friend and I ended up sharing a table with another party since we were 2 and 3 people. The food was good overall and very filling with just a few skewers, although some items seemed a bit too burnt. I did find that I kept wanting water, needing to flag down the waitress a few times to ask for more. I would just end up drinking the small cup of water in just one big gulp, so I wished they could offer a bottle to just refill on our own.

While the ambience felt an homage to traditional Japanese culture in a comforting way, the service was really slow and they misplaced or forgot multiple orders. We waited 30 extra minutes just for a side of green beans. Definitely would reccomend checking them out earlier in the day when they are not so busy, but the food is worth a try.

We were sat at the back of the restaurant which had a nice wood aesthetic and mood lighting. The service was great. They gave us some mock aperol spritz to start since neither of us drank. Definitely the juiciest chicken breast katsu I ever had and the cheese was good addition. The hojicha panna cotta was also yummy with a nice bold flavor and syrup on the side to adjust the sweetness. The sashimi and oden soup were also very good and refreshing to balance out the more greasy items on the menu. The skewer, udon and mapo tofu don did not standout as much in flavor and heaviness. They allegedly have a few limited reservation slots but a majority of their service is first come first serve. You stand in line and wait. I would not recommend coming in large groups. In fact, I'd go as far as to say groups larger than 4 are basically contraindicated. The space inside is quite tight, think narrow, barstool-height seating and tiny tables. When my friend and I were seated after about a 40 min wait, we had spent so much time perusing the menu that we basically knew what we were going to get. Service was really kind and quick. My thoughts on the food below: Kabocha croquet: these were freshly fried and served PIPING hot. The perfectly crisp exterior and soft, non mushy interior were just the perfect textures contrasted against each other. The sweetness of the pumpkin meant that the vinegar heavy house dipping sauce was a requirement not a suggestion. The side salad also provided some freshness with each bite, not that the croquets were too greasy at all! They were well drained so just the crunch remained without the oil. Tori Tsukune: these Japanese chicken meatball skewers were HUGE and DELICIOUS. Perfectly grilled with a charred taste, relentlessly tender inside. Dipped in the accompanying soy sauce and egg yolk mixture it was simply heavenly. The yolk added a mild richness to each bite. Hotate carpaccio: this was the most unique take on scallops I've had in a while. The flavors seem strange at first glance (and first taste, if I'm being totally honest), but it took no more than two chews for me to change my tune. First off, the scallops are plump, crisply sweet, and buttery soft in the way that high quality scallops are. Next, the onion and yuzu provide a sharp yet floral aroma to each bite. The floral taste was initially jarring but became addictive. The drizzle of cream sauce on top tempered the sharpness and gave the dish a smooth finish. Truly a memorable scallop dish!! Midori udon: a scallop and pesto stir fry udon dish. This was unexpected combo when I read the menu, but it was so good! The briny and sweet little scallops were cooked to a perfect tender texture and they paired well with the mild, herbaceous pesto. The udon provided the perfect slurp. While I'm more of a soup noodle girl myself, this was an addictive and unique Japanese-Italian fusion! Niku Ramen: Taniku has a lot of inventive ramen offerings but the niku ramen stood out to me. I've had and enjoyed niku udon before, though I usually find the broth to be too sweet. This dish took all the best parts of niku udon - the mountains of tender, marinated beef, the soft boiled egg, the tender onions - and put them into a richer, heartier broth with thin ramen noodles and the outcome was fantastic. One of the most memorable bowls of ramen I've had in a while. The broth was seriously delicious. I'm such a big soup person so I keep coming back to that. It wasn't too sweet or too salty in the way that a lot of noodle soup broths are, but still managed to impart a ton of flavor. The meaty, fishy flavor was so drinkable. For the quality and quantity of food vs the price you pay, I was incredibly impressed by Taniku Izakaya!!!! Just banger after banger after banger. I saw that they have some good happy hour deals as well so I will definitely be coming back for more of their delightful apps and skewers. I cannot recommend this spot enough, there's a reason people queue for it.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. Anyways, they said they could swap out any of the soy soups for salt (but soy can encompass a lot of things so I still wasn't feeling super confident but we're going to give it a go). We go and I asked which 4 of the soups I was eyeballing don't have soy - the staff said they can accomodate and replace any of the soy soups with a salt broth. After we ordered, the staff came back and checked in to make sure that my partner also didn't have an allergy. And my dish came out, they told me there was no egg as its marinated in soy - perfect to me. I'm glad that was caught as not every establishments can account for everything. - Now I have a spot to (more safely) eat ramen! - I advise that if you do have an food allergy, do talk to the staff, and address your concerns such as cross contamination etc. I had a great experience, but I do find that because its not so regulated or understood and there is lack of education amongst the food/resturant industry - you always need to advocate for yourself and there is always a risk. I'm very apperciative of the staff here.

The skewers were a bit pricey- 5-9$ each. But the quality was really good. Chicken heart and thigh were ultra juicy. Beef tongue was so soft and tender. Meat ball was ultra soft. Loved everything- no misses. Really surprised me. I highly recommend folks stop by for the skewers. Other than price I have no gripes at all! Just be prepared for the wait- with an empty restauraunt I waited 30 minutes.

FOOD: 8/10 Every roll I've ordered has been good. I love getting their nigiri or sashimi combo and enoki mushroom skewers. I believe the nigiri combo with spicy tuna roll is only for takeout orders. SERVICE: 10/10 The staff is always kind, attentive, and welcoming. I appreciate how, for the most part, service is always quick here as well. AMBIANCE: 9/10 The atmosphere is cozy, calm, and inviting. It has that relaxed neighborhood feel that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. It's perfect for a casual dinner or even a low-key solo meal. My only small note is that I wish the tables were slightly bigger, especially for a table for two. Overall, I absolutely love dining here or even grabbing it to go. Shokudou is one of those places I'll keep coming back to whenever I want comforting Japanese food done reliably well.
