While signing up, it says the subscription will then automatically renew after expiration at a rate of $4.99 per week, but that I can call if I need to make adjustments to or cancel my subscription. I immediately found this sketchy - why can't I do this online like all other subscriptions I have ever had? - but, whatever, as long as I'm able to cancel. I checked my account and it shows that I have no subscription and that my old one (which I never had) expires today. I called them the same day to get help and cancel my subscription as I'm not even getting what I paid for, and I was told that I cannot cancel it until it expires. I wasn't asking for a refund, just to cancel so that it doesn't renew. I was then told that it will automatically charge me $19.96 10 days before my subscription expires. How is this a legal business practice? Are they so desperate that they have to resort to such sketchy tactics? The people I spoke with said that they can't cancel it, but I'll get refunded the $19.96 on May 6th, the day after the subscription expires. How can I trust this, and why can't I cancel before it automatically renews, again, like every other subscription I've ever had?? Why can I not prevent the charge from happening in the first place? My account still shows that I have no subscription and cannot access the content I paid for. Absolutely horrible organization, one that I will no longer support in any way. I was excited to support a local paper, but I am incredibly disappointed with the customer service. The last person I spoke with was a gentleman who said he knows that the subscription model is ridiculous and feels bad that this keeps happening to people. I have been trying to resolve a charge on my account for a subscription that I didn't order…read more I know this may seem petty, but it is important to me. I've contacted your customer service, and the people were rude, unprofessional and unhelpful. My subscription was ordered April 4th, 26 week special for .99. I was advised I could cancel at any time prior to the end of the offer period, and as a result I took the offer. My credit card was charged 15.96 on Sept 22, which is earlier than the end of the offer period. Expecting this was a mistake, and wanting to resolve it, I contacted customer service, both individuals advised me that I signed an agreement to have my account charged 10 days before the renewal. I find NOTHING that states that. Additionally I asked them to point me to the place on the website that states that, and when I attempted to find it (with the person on the phone) I was unable to. I asked to assistance and both times they disconnected the call. Legitimate terms and conditions should NOT be hidden and should be easily identified when asked. I should not have been charged and deserve a refund of the 15.96.

I actually got a large amount of Christmas gifts from here, toys, books, journals.. you name it. It's one of my favorite places! (that's the bookworm in me talking). My only complaint is the bathroom is kinda shoddy, one sink didn't work last time i was there. And there was paper towels all over the floor and i do wish the store itself was larger. But all in all its one of my happy places & i love to frequent here.
