I tried the Mandarin and Blood Orange sorbettos, both of which were really nice. My friend got the Cookies n Cream gelato, which was equally delicious. The customer service was friendly too. After paying CAD4.99 for a bland froyo, I headed to Yaletown Gelato as a means of revenge for having an unsatiated appetite. (You should have seen my tummy and I. Man, were we both laughing. Scratches head. Wut!) The damage? A measly CAD4.75 for a piccolo size that consisted of two generous scoops of gelato. (Froyo, who's laughing now. Mwa ha ha!) The staff behind the counter was helpful. She was willing to let us taste, but after two trials I just stopped her already. I got Pistachio and Espresso. The pistachio didn't have the unnecessary green colouring. While the Espresso had bits of ground beans for added flavour and texture. Both were really yummy and flavourful. The cafe itself was warm and inviting. Apart from gelato, they had a variety of espresso and other hot drinks on the menu. As for the gelato, the left side of the display were milk-based, while the right side are the fruit and water-based sorbetto variety. However, as authentic as the flavours were, it's consistency was not as thick or sticky as it should have been. A typical gelato should have not much air making for a denser product than typical ice cream which the ones I had were not. Whether or not it was an off-day, they should not skimp or short-cut on the process at all. Because of this, I am only giving 4 stars. read more

I went to this place to have a quick lunch and I actually liked it a lot. I had a turkey panini with pesto sauce (we can choose the sauce from a fair list of options they have there). The panini was really good, the bread was very crispy and it came with a very fair amount of Turkey ham and cheese. My friends had soup and they loved it too. Really like this little cafe tucked at the corner of Davie & Homer. The gelato is excellent; rich, creamy, deliciousness! The waffle cones are also great. Nice, casual, European ambiance. A nice spot to have a coffee and catch up (only around 4 tables though). I love their hazelnut gelato. It's smooth and the right amount of sweetness. The service is excellent and their recommendation is valid, with a lot of sample spoons given to you. Also, they are willing to do 2 different flavours for a single scoop, which is great for me since I love mixing sweet and sour gelato but can't finish 2 scoops. read more

Oh wow! This place is so good! They're the best summer treat - just get a gelato and then walk down to the waterfront and along the seawall. A couple of points of interest is they are constantly rotating flavors, and be sure to try samples while you are there! They have a bunch of other stuff on offer too so take a look around. As if a trip to the baker's market AND Cafe Medina is not enough, we decided to try Yaletown Gelato as our final culinary destination of the day (while planning to do yoga tomorrow). And how we are glad we did. The gelato was the perfect ending of the afternoon. As others have said, the owner lets us try as many flavour as we want, even more. We had one scoop; white chocolate and gianduia, ( as our stomachs are still digesting 2 waffles, 2 cupcakes, and two brunches) poured with espresso (Affagatto style). YAY! Yaletown gelato FINALLY!!!! Everyone has been saying how good this place was and today was finally nice enough to get some! It was fairly empty on a Sunday afternoon and the owner so SUPER nice and helpful. He let me and my bf try as many flavours as we wanted and gave some good suggestions - including the toasted marshmellows which tasted exactly like that! I wanted to try different scoops but was afraid it was going to be too much... but behold there was a solution! - you can actually get one scoop of gelato split into TWO FLAVOURS!!!! whoohoo! I decided to get half a scoop of forest berry & white chocolate... complimented each other very well! The owner gave me a quick tasting of the two just to make sure I would like it before I made my finaly decision. BF got french vanilla with some sort of caramel crunch that was super rich and creamy. The overall text of the gelato was sooo goooey (I'm so bad with words).. unlike gelato I've tried at Mondo's which is hard and stiff and when you try to scoop it, the gelato flies out of the bowl. The portion you get is very gracious and there was a moment when I was eating that I thought this cone would never end. Good prices and will definitely come back for more flavours! read more

No luck at this place. I love gelato; when I lived in Italy, I indulged several times a day so I was excited when this place opened. Three times I was overcharged (in their favour). The last time we ordered a double, two singles and were charged for three doubles (register issue?). I realized it two blocks down but we were with two small children and my husband didn't want to go back. After a long while, decided to try the place again, figuring if I only order doubles, wouldn't be an issue. As attendant scooped green tea ice-cream on my cone I saw a huge brown, slimy dried ice-cream scab, I politely asked if she could remove it. She didn't understand -- language issue. A young guy came up and while I tried a few times to explain, he waved me off with a "don't worry about it, they're all fresh". Fine. What could I say, if English was understood, it wasn't going to be listened to. We decided to eat our cones there. I repeatedly picked out huge pieces of brown, crusty goo from my scoop. The guy passed our table, decided to apologize, explaining that "she was new and in training". Fine, but my issue wasn't with her, who clearly didn't speak English it was with you not letting me replace this stupid goo that I am now forced to pay for and pick out of my mouth. Figuring he was actually listening to me this time (as he stopped at the table) I politely explained, pointing to the yuck on my plate. He gave a "yikes" look and apologized sympathetically but never offered to replace the crappy scoop. What is up with this place??!! How I heard of this place: My friend Bayan introduced me to the gelato shop up the road when the "Gelato Nazi" in West Vancouver had not opened. Type of cuisine: Cafe fare, with gelato, pastries and espresso beverages. Ambiance: Cafe-esque with a limited number of tables and chairs inside and outside. Dark wooden floor and walls, with a large, glass, display for the gelato. Not overdone or underdone, simple decor creates an uncluttered and easy space. What I ordered: We arrived, eagerly anticipating the toasted marshmallow gelato and were sad to find that it was not one of the days flavors. After sampling a number of flavors from black sesame to Reese, lemon, to coffee break, truffle and ...I ended up with one child-sized scoop ($3.25) of coffee break and my dining companion ordered one child-sized scoop of cookies and cream (with chocolate gelato). What I loved: I loved the chocolate chunks in the coffee break and the decorative waffle triangles placed into each cup of gelato before being served. Why I loved it: The proximity of the cafe to other shops and amenities is great! A good spot to stop for an afternoon sweet treat as you run errands or entertain a friend. This review is for the choccocrema drink, not for the gelato or coffee. I was in search for some really rich drinking chocolate (not hot chocolate made with syrup or hot cocoa mix). I thought that the choccocrema would fit the bill, but I was wrong and sorely disappointed. This ended up being akin to hot chocolate pudding. It was clear that they used corn starch, cocoa powder, and milk to make it. This lacked chocolate depth and sweetness. It was kind of gross, really. So, if you go, definitely don't get this drink because at $4, it is a rip. Their baked goods looked fantastic, and perhaps I should go for that next time. read more

Decent gelato. Worth a visit and handily located a stone's throw away from most of Yaletown's culinary delights. The salted caramel and roasted almond were good, as well as the white chocolate truffle. The price is way better than Bella Gelateria in Coal Harbour. The only downside is I have a soft spot for Bella Gelateria and I (can't help) but compare them as I'm writing this. The flavour variety and creativity can't be beat at BG and I'll take that over comparable quality any day. Otherwise, the gent at the counter was superbly patient and friendly. This is a great spot to go and get some gelato in Yaletown. They have wide selection of flavours and their prices aren't too bad considering it is located in Yaletown. Had NO idea this place even existed in Yaletown, as it's kinda hidden with a mini-plaza of other various smaller businesses, almost like a cul de sac. And to have an European flair to it, kinda nice away from the Yaletown usual scene. In here for one of my daily 2-3 coffee meetings, and surprisingly and unsurprisingly, didn't get a chance to partake in the gelato, as who would eat gelato in front of a client lol, but the $4 special for an americano and cookie too good to pass up. Not as strong for me personally but most ppl would find this espresso good enough lol. But the bonus star is for the tranquility; though I haven't been to Europe yet, since enough movies lol, that this place is worth many more visits, esp. in the summer. Their 'patio' is worth coming back for, and of course, gelato. read more

This lovely little shop is often overshadowed by Bella Gelateria which is just a few minutes away, but I have to say that Yaletown Gelato serves the better scoop. Firstly, BG doesn't even have hazelnut gelato. But that's enough comparing. Furnished like the cozy café that it is, I found it a nice hideaway from the cold and miserable Vancouver weather. It has great lighting and windows and very kind staff. I got a small mocha and a cup of hazelnut gelato for under 10$, which is steep for my minimum-wage wallet, but fine as a treat. In conclusion, I love it here. I can't afford it, but I love it. And if I have to spend a bit for the experience then so be it. read more

Came here twice in the past week for coffee and gelato. Honestly, the gelato was not the finest I've had - it should be a little more creamy but perhaps the mixing process was rushed so there was an icy texture like grains of sand but enjoyed the Espresso gelato (espresso is definitely better than their Skor flavor - the espresso had a strong espresso taste and creamier while the skor was a little icy like it had water mixed in.) With this said, the service was quick and friendly. It's a nice little cafe in Yaletown and would surely visit again when walking along Homer. Generally prefer walking along the waterfront by David Lam park :D so grab coffee from Urban Fare. (no gelato unfortunately) read more

Excellent housemade gelato. They have a wide variety of flavours, very friendly service to let you sample and find the one that's "just right." (Yeah, go ahead and play Goldilock's to try them all!) They also offer a small selection of Italian pastry and coffee.
