I ordered in person and it took less than 5 minutes for the food to be prepared. I got the paneer tikka masala wrap and asked for it to be made mild since I can't handle spicy unfortunately. The tamarind chutney that came with it is nice if you prefer a sweeter flavor. I thought it was a pretty good wrap, savory, and it was mild like I'd asked for. I look forward to trying their food another time and possibly the lassi as well.

They have great food and for a very reasonable price which I really appreciate. I ordered a CHICKEN MALAI PLATTER with medium spice, highly recommend. They have great quality chicken that is cooked soft, their rice is the perfect texture, their salad was fresh, and their spices are a perfect blend. I also highly recommend their CHICKEN PARATHA WRAP! The sauces on this were SOOOO GOOD! Plus, the sauces they have on the side: tamarind sauce, mint sauce, and spicy ketchup are all good. I drowned my chicken platter in a mix of tamarind and mint. Also highly recommend their French fries that are tossed in some spices. Their MANGO LASSI and CHAI are also perfect. That's how you can tell this family knows what they are doing. I would go out of my way to come back here if I had to. I look forward to trying their other chicken platters, paneer dishes, and their curry French fries. This is a great small business with caring business owners. Thank you for having such a lovely business near the UC Berkeley campus. It's perfect for us students and I'm so glad I found them!

I'm talking about a tiny Middle Eastern kitchen inside the Berkeley Organic Market. I just happened on this spot as I was walking and feeling peckish in the family-friendly Elmwood neighborhood. One woman was behind the counter, so I assumed she was not only the face of Badan, she was Badan. I ordered the $9.99 Falafel Plate with three freshly deefalafel balls, hummus, baba ganoush, and a salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, turnip, pickles, and feta cheese (photo). It came with a fluffy pita quartered for easier scooping. The market only has one table out on the sidewalk which I shared with a young mother and her daughter. I can say unequivocally that everything tasted fresh. I believe the woman who prepared my plate made everything that morning, and it made me want to come back and try the shawarma, the lentil soup, and the wraps. Great balls. You're welcome. FOOD - 5 stars...truly fresh combo plate with standout falafel balls AMBIANCE - 4 stars...not much room here but a relaxing to-go option SERVICE - 5 stars...she was great TOTAL - 5 stars...psss, it's in the market RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Order at the counter, grab a seat at orange cafe seating outside. Their puffy flatbread is made in-house daily with whole wheat flour and finished on a plancha. It's the base of an excellent falafel sandwich with flash-pickled purple cabbage, yogurt, hot sauce, and a top layer of fresh mint, parsley, and dill. (They also have lamb and chicken versions of this sandwich.) The line moves fast, the staff is warm and genuinely friendly and engaging. The mango lassi was delicious. Of course, I also had to order a tahini chocolate cookie, which ended up being the star of the show. The braised lamb itself was tender and juicy, but to be honest there were way too many herbs on top (dill, parsley, mint). I enjoyed the wrap and purple cabbage. The chicken plate was just okay...the chicken was a little dry and the rest of the ingredients didn't feel the most cohesive. Tahini chocolate cookie was thin but massive in surface area. Great nutty flavor, enhanced by the dark chocolate. It was the perfect in between of slightly crispy exterior and soft, dense interior. Would come back just for this cookie.

And I like spice! But it was labeled 2/5 chilis and that was a vast understatement. I guzzled 5 glasses of water. I started to hear colors. The flavor was nice from what I could taste, but it was so spicy my sister couldn't finish her wrap and I suffered through mine. Even the owner said she would classify it a 4/5 chili dish, but it was her husband who decided it would be 2/5. It will burn a hole in your insides and humble you. - the vanilla cardamom panna cotta didn't have enough vanilla or cardamom flavor. The texture is also a bit...firmer and bouncier than others I've had. The caramel and nuts on top were a nice touch.

The food is authentic, absolutely ZERO canned food used, and the spices are blended in house! The owner, Aravind Pochiraju, helped us choose the best meal that satisfied our cravings and hunger. The flavors are still lingering on my tongue!!! I was extremely surprised to see the restaurant empty which made me pretty bummed...There's perfect outdoor seating with pet accommodations and beautiful lighting! I was expecting to see more people at dinner time, especially since the food is outstanding. Next time you're craving indian food or you don't know what to cook/eat, go here! Visit date: 4/19/2026…read more We came about an hour before closing on a Sunday, so unfortunately many of the items I wanted to try based on other people's recommendations were already sold out. We ended up getting three things: * The cheese twist was soooo good! The cheese was flavorful and the pastry itself was perfectly done. * The apple pastry was interesting. Unlike many places where the pastry is either bland or overly sweet, Acme's pastry had a slight saltiness to it, which I actually think is genius. I almost always prefer a hint of savory flavor to balance out the sweetness from the filling or topping. My only issue with this one was that the apple topping was not sweet at all and leaned more tart, so paired with the salty pastry, it was not quite the flavor combination I was hoping for. * The mini raspberry pastry had the same issue for me. The raspberry topping was just a bit too tart and sour for my taste. Even though not everything was a hit for me, I would definitely come back and give this bakery another chance, especially since we arrived so late and missed out on many of their most popular items.
