The food was good but seemed very overpriced. If you want to pay an extra $10 of what a roll would usually be for some art on the plate, then this is your place. I liked that this place is byob but that is about the end of the perks of it. The restaurant is extremely small, tables are maybe 10 in apart, and makes it feel like you're on top of the party next to you. The food was brought quickly but it also seemed like they wanted you to finish it extremely quickly. At one point, we were being stood over by the employee waiting for us to finish our gyoza so she could take the plate from under us. The gyoza was actually delicious but again, we felt rushed and uncomfortable with how quickly we were expected to finish it so we could order our entree rolls. Both the rolls were good but again, while we were still eating, someone asked us if we were done & ready to order more & or get the dessert menu. I sincerely enjoyed the meal but the rushed experience of it all didn't leave a good taste.

Fun designs seem to be the priority and focus here - and it's definitely creative and fun! It adds a little something to the food. The sushi itself was solid. The service was attentive and the vibes inside were cute. Good for a low key night out or a date night.

Stopped by Yama on a Friday night. The place was small, crowded, and pretty loud. The ramen was really good and the sushi was decent, but the prices were a bit too high. The staff were super friendly and attentive, which made the visit more enjoyable. Overall, it's a solid spot if you're in the area, just maybe not on a busy night.

    Black Garlic Ramen Chicken dumplings

The black garlic ramen is one of my favorites as well as the spider roll! My sister introduced me to this place and I've loved it since. I usually go middle of the day and it's never busy, I get my food pretty quick and the servers in there are super sweet and attentive and constantly check up on you to make sure everything is okay! The setting in there to me is very calm and friendly.

Basically writing this review as a reminder to myself this place was amazing. Ingredients are fresh and the rolls are creative and delicious. It's also a very nice touch how they draw on your place with the sauces - which adds to the creativity and if you don't like your rolls overly sauced - it's perfect as you can dip as you go. Server was so friendly as well. Will be back!

We dropped in to try some sushi and were absolutely delighted by the staff, ambiance, and the presentation of the food. We ordered two salads to start, and truly we could have shared one. They were pretty big! Their ginger dressing was fresh and balanced - not the average creamy ginger dressing. We ordered a roll each and the fried chicken appetizer. The chicken was fantastic! Super juicy, crispy, and fresh. The rolls were presented so beautifully! Not only were they stunning, but they were delicious and FRESH. Super impressed. Overall, the quality of the food and the service will have us coming back for more!

Delicious sushi with a cozy atmosphere! Our service was prompt and attentive. I got the Megatron and my sister got the lunch special which included 3 roles.

Yama Sushi Bar is new but I'm glad we came across it in our visit to Chicago. Oak Park was nice and this spot was great with great service. The food was great deal for its price and amount of food and artistry!

Small place. Service was nice! Food was okay. Menu was small. But the creative art behind the food was cool.

    Dragon roll

100% recommended! We ordered miso soup, gyozas, tempura udon and a dragon roll. Everything was delicious!! Ambience and service was excellent too.

Possibly my favorite sushi place ever, and I *love* sushi. Everything is super fresh and delicious, and the way the plates are decorated are ADORABLE. I highly recommend anything with the honey mayo, it's so so so good. My favorite is the ChiTown!

What I love most is the versatility...you have the traditional sit-down dining area, and then on the other side (toward the back/left), there's the hibachi grill. Whether you're in the mood to relax and be served or want something fresh off the grill, you've got options. Now, I'll be honest, the line can get long, especially on Sundays right when they open at noon. But it's absolutely worth the wait. Everything is fresh and made to order, and I've never had a bad experience here. Some of my go-to favorites include the egg foo young, Mongolian beef, spicy egg rolls, and spicy crab rolls...but honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is always friendly and welcoming, which makes a difference. The atmosphere has a little bit of buzz to it, but it's not overwhelming, you can still enjoy your conversation without feeling like you're shouting over noise. Overall, this is a five-star go-to spot for me. Consistent, flavorful, and reliable every single time. If you're in the Chicagoland area, especially near Elmwood Park, New Star is definitely worth checking out.

First, I was told they were waiting for a table to open up. Then they were waiting on a cook. Finally, a staff member said the people at our reserved table were still eating and they were waiting for them to get up. When I asked when our table would actually be ready, she laughed, threw her hands up, and said she didn't know. What made the situation even worse was watching other customers walk in and be seated while we continued to wait. From what I observed, Black families were waiting extended periods of time, while White and Mexican customers were seated much more quickly. A party of 15 that arrived well after us was even seated before my group. I am deeply disappointed and disgusted by the treatment my family received on my mother's birthday. This would have been her first hibachi experience, and instead it was ruined by poor customer service and what appeared to be unfair treatment. I will never return and would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

The Alaskan cod sandwich was served on a bed of cabbage covered in a sweet teriyaki & brown mustard sauce with maybe a squeeze of kewpie sprinkled in between. The Berkshire pork eggrolls had microgreens & shaved radish on top of a crema type of sauce that balanced the heat of the kimchi nicely!! For the main attraction I ordered the spicy garlic ramen that was such a delightful mouth experience it really hit all the taste buds! The noodles were perfectly bouncy with the right amount of chew. The jellied egg was perfect and rounded the soup very well! The red chili threads enhanced the spicy miso broth just enough to slurp all the delicious goodness down! My husband ordered the Sapporo miso soup which had more of a creamy type of broth vs the spicy garlic. The noodles were also thinner than regular ramen & had a bouncy springy texture that just hit the spot! Since it was kinda chilly outside we also ordered hot green tea to accompany our spectacular ramen dishes. This place also offers delicious seasonal cocktails on the menu or hot sake if that's what you are hankering for. Definitely try this ramen joint if you are in the Logan square area your tummy will be so happy that you did!!
