Bento #2 with edamame and spring rolls.

It's your standard Chinese owned run of the mill wannabe Japaneish steakhouse. The food was not bad. But the service was a bit lacking. English definitely not a strong suit for restaurant in a deeply southern area.

    Boom. Great casual sushi joint!

This joint is the highest rated Yelp in town. It's not bad at all. The quality of food was great. The presentation was stellar too. The atmosphere is very casual. Hated the TVs in the dining room. The TVs and stereo music all bled together. Had the very filling and fattening Fried Superman Roll (must-have) and also got the eel and yellow tail sushi.

    Chicken hibachi and Mississippi rolls

The food was great! I really liked the fact that they use salmon on their Mississippi Roll. Also, their yum yum sauce is a different color than most; but it tastes awesome! The only thing I didn't like is that I felt rushed. They really push the check on you. I enjoyed the ambiance and it was like an hour before closing time. I would have been happier if I had to request my check. Lastly, I like that you can see the chefs working but just be prepared for a typical sit down dinner. It's not the type of hibachi that they cook at your table. All in all it's a cute place (especially for that area).

Staying at the Hampton nearby and wanted something that wasn't soooo unhealthy so I ordered the hibachi chicken which was quite tasty. The onion soup was ok.", but I should've ordered the miso instead. They didn't have a website or menu posted so I'll add a pic of the menu I grabbed.

    Sushi bento box

I've eaten a lot of sushi in my day and I have to say, the sushi bento box was phenomenal! Each piece was very tasty, and the fish was very fresh and tender. I was very impressed to find this out in Batesville! Last time I got the udon because I was worried about eating sushi so far from the coast but never again.

This Huddle House wasnt always on the ball with online orders a few months before the Covid hit but now they're really on the ball. Online ordering and curbside were options advertised on their signs and in the app as well as safety precautions so thats reassuring. I checked my order and everything seemed to be in order. They even labeled the two different steak sauces we asked for online which was very appreciated because they looked too similar in their cups. My steak had a nice healthy pinker center and seared seasoned surface, tender and flavorful. The ribeye was so good I almost forgot to try some steak sauce but I love experiencing different flavors. The Mac and cheese was creamy but thicc and not flavorless like I imagined, absolutely would order that side again. The loaded baked potato was decent, bacon and shredded cheese on top. If I could change anything with the loaded potato, maybe split the spud more for more topping space. Also wish I was asked if I wanted sour cream and/or butter with it, never had to ask McAlisters for that, so Ill remember next time I want a spud. I checked the app and ordering online automatically adds to the rewards program Huddle House offers so that was really convenient too, even recognized the special online coupon code I found and would highly recommend. Overall I enjoyed my meal particularly and will return for more grub.

We were quickly seated and enjoyed good service. We both had large traditional breakfasts (lots more choices on the revised menu!), and apart from biscuits being a bit dry, eggs, sausage, and pancakes were very tasty. Coffee was especially good and our cups were never allowed to run dry.

The country store attendant visited the men's room ahead of me, tidying up after he used the facilities himself and then washing his hands. Nice! The restaurant was mildly busy but not so much that we had to wait for a table. Rainbow trout for Mrs. K. with fried apples and carrots. Meatloaf for me with mac & cheese and green beans. A good mix that we shared between ourselves. The sweet tea was not too sweet. We enjoyed our meal! Normally, we'd be parking up and staying the night but it's only 4pm and there are a couple more hours of daylight driving. Yes, Cracker Barrel tolerates the RVers using their parking lot for overnight. This time, dinner without staying. [Review 2292 of 2024 - 113 in Mississippi - 23307 overall]
