    Vegetable Tempura Roll Avocado Roll
    Alyssa F.

I just ordered this. I ordered the veggie tempura roll (which I have never had from anywhere before) the avocado cucumber roll (which I am very familiar with) and veggie spring/ egg rolls! we are going to go through this one by one. veggie tempura roll: when I opened my plate, I was honestly scared. the roll was huge. and what was that substance inside. it was im assuming some kind of mayo . It makes sense thinking about that now because how else will all the veggie tempuras stick together, but at first I was shocked. I took bite. apprehensively. but, to my surprise it was actually my fav thing from my order. only complaint would be that they are too big to do a one biter, but I can't really imagine any solution to that and I appreciate the big portions. good bang for your buck. the avocado cucumber roll: this was good. it is not my favorite in the city, but it is definitely by far not the worst. it's good! only thing, when eating it, something tasted sweet. i'm not sure if it's the vinegar from the rice, or maybe the cucumbers were pickled, either way slightly through me off, but it def didn't ruin it. I will say I appreciate that these rolls were also bigger than avg. The spring / egg roll things were okay. flavor was interesting, not the crispiest. I will say they give like 6 tiny ones for $8 which is better than some places. overall ! great place I tried something I didn't think I would like and ended up loving it! win for me!

The food was incredible. Sushi was so fresh! The service was great. The host and waiter were very attentive.

    curry udon

The restaurant serves basic rolls and other Japanese fares, including curry/ udon. We ordered the agedashi tofu, sashimi platter, and curry udon. We came here on a Friday night, and it was pretty empty, with only two other tables besides ours. The ambiance was quiet and relaxing, with the restaurant's sushi bar in the back. Service was quick and attentive. (4.5/5) Agedashi Tofu: perfectly fried with an extremely flavorful unami sauce. The only disappointing thing was that it was supposed to be served with white radish (as mentioned on the menu) but wasn't added to the dish! (4/5) Sashimi Platter: $31 for 15 pieces, a decent price for sashimi. The quality was ok and fresh but could have been better. The platter came with a side of miso soup and rice. (2.5/5) Curry Udon: The curry was severely watered down with minimal flavor, and the udon was overcooked to the point where it was mushy and falling apart.

I have to update because I crave this sushi all the time, it really is the best. The prices are just so high but I keep coming back

Miso soup was great! The food came out fast and this portion was so fun to share at a decent price. Staff was nice and the inside was cute and calm.

Spicy Salmon, Roll Seven Seas Roll, & House Salad

This is THE sushi spot on Main Street in Manayunk. Yanako is my go to!! Tonight me and my fiancé stopped in to split rolls as an app before having a home cooked dinner. He got a house salad since the house-made ginger dressing is his favorite. We split the spicy salmon roll and seven seas signature roll. Although I think their rolls are slightly over price they are by far the best in the area. Always fresh and always delicious! Bonus point this place is BYOB!

Yanako is one of the better places to get sushi in Philly! The quality of the fish is fresher than most sushi restaurants in Philly. There's also craftsmanship when each nigiri is assembled. The fish is sliced delicately and pair with complimentary flavors in each nigiri. My favorites were the salmon and yellowtail. The complimentary miso soup was delicious! It actually tasted like miso and not just salt. Yanako has great quality regarding their sushi! The yakisoba was not impressive. The noodles were over cooked & soggy. The sauce wasn't as flavorful. They messed up on the dish the first time. When they brought out the remade dish, they forgot the pickled ginger which is necessary since yakisoba is a fatty dish. Yanako is one of my favorite places for sushi and I was curious to try other items on their menu. But I think I'll just stick with ordering their sushi.

Steak wrapped scallions amazing. Pork belly buns 8/10

Classy dinner spot, would recommend making reservations as the restaurant has limited seating and fills up quickly particularly on the weekends. Minimalist decor and lovely ambiance. Great date spot. Would recommend trying the steak wrapped scallions if you're looking for a savory umami appetizer. Also had great quality sashimi platter

    All this was $140.

Absolutely overpriced. Their specialty rolls are not the size that you're thinking, but closer to a 6 piece basic tuna roll. Quality of the fish was fine but rice was too hard making the rolls difficult to eat and a little dry. Super disappointed and feel like I got GOT.

    Manayunk Roll
    Angeline N.

Overpriced and underwhelming. Trying to explore more of the eateries in the Manayunk area and was craving sushi. I placed a pick-up order for dinner time and was told an estimated wait time of 20 minutes (no big deal). + PARKING: A nightmare on a Friday night! Normally this area on a weekday isn't too bad, but come the weekend and this little strip of restaurant and shops is crowded. If you're willing to walk a little bit, it's easier to find parking in the residential areas and walk to Yanako. Will save you the grief/cash of using metered parking. + INTERIOR/EXTERIOR: Since we are in COVID times, the dining area of Yanako is closed (which is actually Chabaa Thai Bistro). All dining is outdoors for the time being. If you want to order from Yanako, you'll have to do it at Chabaa Thai Bistro next door (same owners I believe). Was off to a bad start when I came to pick-up my order. Low and behold, my order wasn't ready and it seemed like the roll I ordered was never made! In 20 minutes....making a non-baked roll should be doable. So I waited for another 10 minutes awkwardly on the crowded sidewalk for my full order. + FOOD: Possibly one of the biggest sushi disappointments I've had in a while. I'm willing to pay the price for good sushi. But, give me expensive prices for no-so-good quality/size and I am livid. Nothing makes me madder than spending money on bad quality food unless it's McDonalds because I know what to expect. - The MANAYUNK ROLL ($17) I ordered from Yanako was the saddest eel roll I've ever had in my life. The roll was laughably small and the amount of eel was inconsistent/borderline non-existent. PICTURES INCLUDED. The Manayunk Roll is a roll made with crab, cucumber, and avocado topped with eel and wrapped in seaweed. Finished off with tempura flakes and eel sauce. The serving size on this roll is fit for children! Not grown-ass adults. Stingiest roll I have seen for a hot minute. They use real crab instead of imitation, but the eel was so miniscule. Why are you rationing out eel?? - MINI PORK BELLY STEAM BUNS ($5): The only thing that saved my Friday night and is keeping my review from going into 1-star territory. The meat was moist, not too fatty. Nicely braised pork belly. The spicy aioli is basically a sriracha mayo. Not Momofuku-level pork buns, but a very good pork belly bun all the same. + PRICE: Not worth it. Overall: Still on the hunt for good sushi in Philly. Unless I'm really craving Japanese food in the Manayunk area, I'm passing on Yanako.

Sweet Potato Roll and Avocado Roll
    Carissa L.

Went here today during the Manayunk Arts Festival and sat in their sister restaurant's dining room. I love that they combined for indoor dining - plus, we got to order off of two different menus! He was feeling Thai and I was craving some veggie sushi, so it worked out perfectly. I included a picture of the sweet potato roll and avocado roll I ordered. They tasted fresh, and the sweet potato roll had some really nice crunch from the tempura and sesame seeds. The staff members were attentive and kind, and the prices were fair. What more can you ask for? :)

    Jose P.

The place was great! The food took a bit longer than expected, but considering that the place was full, it was understandable. The staff was welcoming and attentive. What really amazed me about this place was the food. From the pork gyoza, to the chicken yakisoba, to the sushi. Everything was on point with flavor and plating. Definitely recommend it. A great touch at the end was the chef coming by asking to see how the food was. Seeing as there was no food left on the plates, I am pretty sure she understood our feelings towards every single bite.

We sat in a cozy corner booth and could easily hear each other although we could not read the menu or clearly see what we were eating the lighting is so dim (and consistent with the gothic theme). Now onto the food. We ordered 9 dishes (waiter suggested 8) and it was way too much for us and I'm a big eater! Edamame dumplings - 4/5, may be just me, but I don't really enjoy mushy fillings to my dumplings. The broth they came in was amazing though Tuna rice cracker - 4/5, not really a cracker, more like a crunchy mini loaf of rice topped with tuna and a slice of jalapeno - delicious and much more filling than what I was expecting. I only gave a 4 instead of 5/5 for taste because of the unexpected presentation of the "cracker" Shishito pepper small plate - 5*/5 outstanding! I could eat these all day they were so delicious. I'm not sure how they flavor these or what light crunchy sprinkles were on top of this very generous portion of peppers (I would estimate maybe 30 peppers?) I'd go back just for this dish Black cod fried rice - 3/5, I should know better that a miso black cod will be somewhat fishy, and with it spread in chunks throughout the fried rice I'd say this was my least favorite dish. Crispy brussels sprouts - 4/5, a solid offering, not much to write home about Crispy tofu - 3/5, not particularly unique although it sounded amazing when described - cubes of deep fried tofu drizzled with peanut sauce on a bed of cilantro pesto. But not that tasty and not that interesting Scallop robo - 5/5, excellent with a kick from the spicy powder on these, note these are very small portions, three slices of scallop (not even a full scallop or if these were full scallops they were very thin) on a stick Ribeye scallion robo - 5/5, also excellent, with three chunks of tender grilled beef Mochi ice cream: passion fruit, matcha - 4/5, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of mochi ice cream, I'd rather just have the ice cream or have it with a brownie or between two cookies So overall, service was great, not overly attentive. And the food was very solid with an outstanding exception with the shishito peppers. I'm not sure I'd go back as it is very dark in there and if I was seated on the first floor I'd not be able to have conversation with my dinner mates.

I had the rainbow roll because it had a BOGO offer, making 2 rolls only $16. However, the rolls were SMALL and basically just a California roll with a tiny sliver of fish on top. Two was the perfect amount for me and I don't eat that much, so I would've been quite upset if I'd paid over $30 for that. Aside from the price and size, it wasn't very good. There wasn't much imitation crab inside (which is relatively inexpensive anyways) and the fish on top wasn't very fresh so I ended up taking it off. The salmon sashimi pieces were also half cooked? Super weird... Maybe the food would be better in person, or if I didn't order sushi for takeout, but I probably won't be coming back here :(

We were a party of two and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The Highlights: Quality: This is hands-down the best quality "all-you-can-eat" (AYCE) sushi I've had. Unlike other places where the fish can sometimes taste frozen, everything here tasted fresh and high-quality. Service: Our server, Jordan, was incredibly attentive and made our lunch even better. Menu: The miso soup was delicious, and the salad portion was generous. The fried calamari was also great, though the pieces were on the smaller side. While the chicken teriyaki was a bit disappointing, the rest of the meal more than made up for it. Value: At approximately $33.85, the AYCE price is a great value for the quality you receive. They also have an extensive ramen menu--while it's not included in the AYCE price, it looked delicious and is something I'm excited to try next time. Overall Thoughts: The restaurant was very quiet during our lunch visit, which made for a relaxing meal, though I imagine it gets lively during happy hour. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for fresh sushi and great service!
