I chose KO flooring after seeing samples of their work, responsiveness to my inquiry (Nick answered my message immediately and made himself available to come to my home asap), family run business, and their willingness to accommodate my needs as a pregnant mother with a toddler. Nick and his father are both lovely people and practice what they preach when it comes to the "old school" mentality of delivering quality work and ensuring client satisfaction. There was one thing I was unhappy with upon delivery of service and he sent a worker back to fix it. This act speaks volumes, not only to his character, but his dedication to ensuring a happy client for years to come. Being a part time designer I've had dealings with plenty of craftsman and can assure you this was an excellent experience. If I had to do it again, I'd hire KO Flooring.

I contracted with Nick at KO floors to install Red Oak hardwood but he installed White Oak instead…read more He did this without my consent. Red Oak was clearly in my contract and Nick knew the rest of the house was Red Oak. Now it does not match the rest of my Red Oak floors. When I asked him what happened he lied and told me it was a mistake by his distributor however I was informed by one of his employees that Nick used the White Oak wood cause he had it in stock and saved money. Not a nice thing to do to your customer who spent close to 20k with his company. So I would not recommend KO Flooring or Nick to anyone.

Backstory: we moved into a new home, hired another flooring company to re-finish our hardwood floors (sanding and polishing). Our original floors had 1 section of plywood, which they replaced to match the rest of the hardwood floors. However, upon replacement, there was a huge hump (7/8 of an inch). The first company claimed it was due to the floor beams being "uneven". The first company had put down that new section without giving us the option to hire a second company to evaluate or rectify the issue. They then told us if we wanted to fix that bump, we'd need to rip up all of our floors (hardwood floor, subfloors) and hire another company to either "shave down" the floor beams significantly (damaging the integrity of the floor) or - more costly - hire a company to raise the floors in the rest of the house. We reached out to NUMEROUS companies who would not even consult with us given the scale of the issue. In came Mike: He agreed to take a look and provided a reasonable estimate for the project. His crew came in to fix this section. Upon lifting the hardwood floor, they discovered a long 2x4 that ran the length of our floor causing the massive bump (pictures attached). While there was a slight difference between the beams in the room, it was mild and easily fixed by only slightly sanding down the new hardwood to have a seamless transition between the old hardwood and the section that was previously plywood. After fixing the hump, he replaced and refinished new hardwood in that section. Since the issue was much less significant than the first company had claimed, Mike even adjusted our price estimate to a lower fee. More importantly, Mike's repair was completed in January - February 2020, and you can't tell the difference regarding which floor section was replaced. When we took the first company to small claims court, Mike was willing to help provide an affidavit. The affidavit ended up not being necessary and we went to arbitration/mediation with the first company and won. However, I want to stress Mike's (and Goodfella's flooring) professionalism and kindness during a stressful home renovation project!

If you asked me six months about Goodfellas Flooring and Mike, I would have recommended him. Mike…read morehad refinished wood floors and later applied a light coat of polyurethane to maintain my wood floors. No problems. They were reliable, knowledgeable and good. When we decided to move, I called Mike and asked him about refinishing. He said he wanted to see the floor in person first. That made a lot of sense. He gave me an estimate and I wish I could say the job is history. I won't bore you with all the details, but he did a flooring job that required replacing the wood floor that was very thin with a vinyl lux floor. I don't have a problem with that. The reason, I'm giving him one star is there were some issues. We paid him on time. There are some things he needs to fix as well as drop off the leftover planking. Well, I'm still waiting. No phone calls, texts or responses. I am willing to pay for any additional work that was not anticipated, but that doesn't seem to matter. DO NOT USE GOODFELLAS or MIKE for your flooring needs. I'm not sure why, but he has become an unreliable and a poor businessman.
