From the moment we walked in, it was cozy chaos (they were busy, of course!), but Rebecca made the whole experience absolutely fabulous! We picked our scents, jotted them down, and chose our candle jars. Picking a candle name is always my favorite part! Rebecca was a total pro, giving spot on recommendations for which scents paired best together. I wasn't loving my top three picks at first. We actually ended up swapping scents from each other's selections, and it turned out AMAZING! The value is great for the experience. Our jars were just under $40 each I believe, but they have a variety of jar options starting at $25, plus a larger, higher value option for those who want it. Penn and Beech is perfect for a GNO, date night, or even a team building event with work. Fun, interactive, and totally IG worthy, definitely a Valentine's Day win!

I especially appreciated her interest/participation in smelling the combos when mixed. Would love to have her help again next visit! Looking at all the scents in the store, the selection could seem overwhelming! But you are encouraged to take your time as you pick out your favorites. It is worth the time to evaluate and see what 2-3 scents you want to mix up. Value: The experience is priceless! But to make your own candle and have a drink could run about $30-$40, and I think it was worth it. This place is perfect for a slow chill day when you need calming, or even a date night! I'm definitely coming back!

The staff that was there when I visited was pretty young, which could explain the laid back vibe--but they were all very nice, helpful, and super knowledgeable, which was awesome. Starting with the not so great: - A downside to this particular place is that instead of choosing different scents to mix, they already have them pre-mixed. For example, champagne and clean linen scents are already combined, rather than letting you choose and mix them yourself. Since it's structured this way, it does speed up the process, but I will say there are still a few pre-mixed scents you can mix together that would probably turn out smelling great. - When I went to pick up my candle a few days later, I was disappointed to find that it was damaged. Not sure how it happened, but I was shocked when I unwrapped it to discover it was chipped. Even more disappointing was that the staff wrapped a damaged item without mentioning it to me. On the positive side: - It's BYO food and drinks, which we loved. My friends and I brought a bottle of prosecco, charcuterie, and quiche to enjoy. Our server let us eat, drink, and chat before starting the candle pouring, which was perfect for catching up! - Parking is easy - Gorgeous vessels to choose from - Reasonably priced They also have a little gift shop with an assortment of trinkets!

They have a wide selection of vessels to choose from for pouring your candle. You first choose a vessel and the price varies. Then you choose your scent from the scent bar. As you wait there is a small shop to browse, as well as photo opportunities. Once we understood what steps we needed to do then it was simple and they walked us through the quick instructions. We return in a few days to pick up our finished product.

Has Richard lost his mind you're asking? He's not only reviewing a chain retailer, but he's…read morereviewing a mall retailer? Yeah, I may have lost my mind. But hey, Maya started it! The truth is that I'm a fan of Yankee Candle and I visit this particular location on a fairly regular basis when killing time before a movie - this means at least once a week. I've yet to find a candle that works for me as well as Yankee Candles do. I feel the same way about most of their secondary products like air fresheners (home, car), etc. Yes, they're more expensive. They're also very good. So, if I were to rate Yankee Candle solely on the basis of their product I would most likely be looking at a 5-star rating. LOVE their products. Here's the thing. I really, really, really hate shopping at Yankee Candle. While I've always found their sales approach a tad over-the-top, over the last few months it has almost gotten to the point that there are times I simply don't go in because I don't want to deal with it. Seriously. Here's the experience I have had almost every single time over the past few months at Castleton, including last night. I go in. I check out their specials and check out a few tables. I don't begrudge them the fact that within a couple minutes, someone is going to swoop in and offer service. That's fine. I'll typically decline unless there's a specific need. Yankee Candle has a challenging layout for strollers, wheelchairs and pretty much anyone with a big butt. While I've not broken anything in Yankee Candle, it's taken a conscious effort every single time I'm in there and I've sure had some close calls and have tipped over smaller items before. I realize inventory is important, especially in a high profile location like Castleton, but it would be nice to have some room to get around. A few months ago, they really began pushing their e-mail advertising and their rewards club. How do I know this? They push it every single time. When you buy at Yankee Candle, you're not just committing to the sale but committing to the journey toward the sale. Seriously. "Do you want a wick trimmer?" "No, thank you." "Five minute lecture on why wick trimmers are awesome" while they casually roll your candle up in tissue paper, a courtesy that these days feels more like a sales ploy. "Can I get your phone number?" "Phone number given." "Can I get your e-mail?" Silently thinking "You can't look it up by phone number? This is 2016, after all." I've asked. They apparently hired an IOT department straight out of their local community college (Sorry to all you community college grads - no slam on you intended). If you decline an e-mail, you get a five-minute lecture on why their e-mails are awesome. Because, after all, EVERYTHING is awesome. "Are you a member of our rewards club?" "I have no idea. You've lectured me into a drunken stupor now." I'm sitting here thinking "Why didn't I go to White Barn? They actually sell you candles without the lecture." "Three minute lecture on why the rewards club is awesome - $5 gift card after $100 spent. For the record, that's not awesome and it's not worth the amount of my time you kill with every sale. If you're lucky, your products, even if you only have one, will be ready to go by the time they get through all the lectures. If not, you get another lecture on an upcoming sale or changing products. EVERY single time. I mean, heck, last night they even acknowledged that I was a regular but felt the need to give me every single lecture. There are now times I don't go in simply because I don't have the time to commit to the entire journey. OH sure, I could probably be rude and cut them all off (and have). I've also simply left if it got overbearing (Do you hear that Yankee Candle? You've lost sales because of this current dreadful sales approach). The painful conclusion, at least for me, is that I love Yankee Candle products but hate the experience of shopping there. While I've been hesitant to switch over to shopping online, it may prove to be the best option because Yankee Candle, at least this location, crosses the line from good customer service into the realm of almost stalkerish tendencies with a hard-sell approach that betrays the very essence of what folks like about Yankee Candle.

The thing I really remember from Things Remembered is that everything is a little more expensive than I would hope, so I will have to remember to bring more money if I want to buy my girl anything from here. The price is the only thing keeping it as a 3 star.

The staff was very friendly when i cam into the store and talked to me about what i wanted. They did kind of leave me to fill out the engraving form by myself and didn't explain to me the fonts and what they look like on different surfaces but i managed. While waiting to checkout i decided to buy a new flask and have it engraved as well. I can see spending a little time walking through there one could easily spend a lot of money buying nick nacks and what nots and having them engraved for gifts. Not all the items in there were quality made and I'm sure none made in the USA (but what is anymore). I think that was my only downer was the quality of the items. But not everyone is buying the items and may just be getting something engraved. The engraving is done digitally and you are warned about the possible damage of your item. (this is done because the machine could malfunction and damage your item...if you don't want to take the chance i would recommend having someone do it by hand, which is also much more expensive) They can do them in a 24 hour turn around but i chose to wait until after the weekend rush to get up to Castelton. My items were done just the way i asked with no damage and were ready when i came to get them. I would definitely come back here for any future engravings.

It's…read morenot that people don't have good experiences - it's that the bad reviews are passionate and the good reviews are seldom good enough that you ever feel like you have to rush and write a review of it. Furniture reviews, it would seem, fall into this description. When you have a bad experience, you want to share it because someone has been messing with your home. While you may want to share a good experience, for the most part when it comes to furniture we "expect" a good experience and giving us one feels like it's just the way it should be. There are several national furniture brands that have scathing ratings yet they are "popular." Clearly, those having good experiences simply aren't writing the reviews. Bob's Discount Furniture and Mattress Store is exactly what you expect - a discount option for home furniture and mattress needs. I'd visited a couple of times before, however, had never actually bought here until recently when a friend visited the Castleton Bob's while helping me get a guest bedroom set up to help support me as I recover from recent health issues. This is located in the same strip center as Castleton's Ale Emporium. It's a huge, brightly decorated location. As I'm a bit older, Bob's makes me think of Value City - a place where I bought a lot of my affordable, moderate quality furniture when I first started out independently. It's not a great place. It's for the most part not an awful place. It's the place someone goes who has to be budget conscious, or who wants to, when getting furniture. My friend visited here while I was in the hospital and she and I and the sales person consulted back and forth. While my friend is a lifelong friend, shopping to meet the needs of a person with a disability is somewhat different and Bob's adapted well each time I would provide feedback on needs. We were looking primarily at beds for a small bedroom. We considered a few options, however, kept things very simple. Because the bed could end up being mine at some point, we also considered accessibility. So, the basics of the experience: The sales person was friendly, helpful, and honest about limitations (for example, at one point we were looking at a reclining option with my new limitations. This sales person would acknowledge when that feature would and would not be available). We eventually found what we wanted, made the sale, took part with us, and had the rest delivered. We were assigned a delivery window and instructed that an adult with ID had to be home. Additionally, they will wait 15 minutes upon arrival - after that, they leave and you will need to reschedule. This is no-nonsense, however, it's also explained up front. As I'm limited to home right now (I just got discharged from the hospital), it was easy to ensure someone would be here. I got an e-mail the morning of delivery giving me an expected window. That said, it could be earlier. Our delivery arrived a bit earlier. I had my ID, though it was never checked. The delivery people were friendly, efficient, and set everything up (we'd signed up for this). They took packaging with them. The set-up is a solid, entry level bed. It's moderate quality. I sure don't expect it to last long-term, however, it meets my need now. 5 star? Oh heavens no. I initially thought a 3-star was fair, however, I honestly can't think of anything that was truly wrong here. I really just consider this a solid experience with solid sales, a decent price, on time delivery, and good communication. For those needing a budget option for furniture with an experience that matches, Bob's offers it. I have not dealt with customer service post-sale as I've not had the need. However, given my recent stress around health I really appreciate that Bob's offered a low-stress purchase experience.
