I booked a 3 person table for myself, my sister, and my grandmother to do something memorable, and I really wanted to try the location I hadn't booked before. Upon my arrival, we found that I accidentally booked for Saturday, June 13th, instead of Sunday the 14th. I was very distressed as my grandmother does not live in the states, so I was not sure what other time we would have to take this class together. Not to mention, it was completely my mistake so I did not expect a refund. I fully expected to walk out with no refund and no class booked, having to tell my little sister and my grandmother we couldn't make candles today. The worker there, Henry, definitely read it on my face. I didn't have to explain much, he immediately assured me mistakes happen and that he had space in the next session for us if we were willing to come back then. Of course we returned; I was so grateful for the amazing customer service and the understanding. All three of us had so much fun with Henry in the 2 PM class. He was very personable and funny; I was very happy to see he was leading our session after he was so helpful to me. He was also patient with my grandmother, who definitely needed some extra help during the class. I would 100% recommend this business. We had a great time and we would return.

The hosts for the candle-making class were Atahya and Jennifer. They both did a fantastic job of facilitating detailed instructions on how to craft candles to our liking. They also welcomed bringing wine bottles to sip while making candles. First, the group and I were able to get up and smell different candle scents. My top four favorites were the Espresso, Strawberry, Cupcake, and Fig. I proceeded to grab one of the medium-sized golden brown jars from the wall and then sat back down. Atahya directed us to stir the scents in two separate little beakers. Then, we poured the mixtures into a big candle jar and a little candle jar, along with the hot candle wax liquid. Finally, we stirred everything for about 2-3 minutes to let it set. Jennifer was able to come over and finish the candle product for us by cleaning it, solidifying it, etc. In the interim, while the candles were being set, Atahya led engaging, interactive activities. We did a candle-themed trivia and sang songs, karaoke style. Both opportunities made the time go by so much faster. We all had a great time! Overall, the experience was totally epic. I highly recommend coming to ReWax and UnWine to craft good-smelling candles while having a blast!

However, when we arrived, the door was locked and no one appeared to be there. We waited outside for about 20 minutes, trying to contact the business by phone and through their Instagram page, but received no response. Eventually, we left and walked over to McCormick & Schmick's a few blocks away to get drinks and hopefully hear back. After an hour with no update, we decided to stroll around Center City and make the most of our day. Around 5:45 PM, I finally received a call from a staff member who apologized and explained she hadn't seen our messages and she was actually at home at the time. She offered to reschedule us for the next day at 3 PM. We accepted, but since we were still in the area, we called back and asked if we could come "now". She agreed, and we walked back over for a 6PM session. Once there, we were offered wine for purchase and water which we accepted. We got to make two candles each. She walked us through the process and told us to pick out our scents. The music playing added to a fun, laid-back vibe. Despite the earlier miscommunication, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I would definitely consider going again.

We got to pick from the opaque traditional wax or a clear liquid and from several types of glassware to put the candles in. You can make an aquarium with sand and little fish and shells inside which was neat and you pick your own scent or even mix up a couple and invent your own scent. The cost was pretty high at $35 and $40 but it was a fun experience. I think it would be neat if they started a "bring your own" glass jar program at a lower cost because we have so many empty candle containers and glasses at home it would be nice to be able to recycle them! Also, I somehow managed to get red dye allll over my clothes so I recommend wearing clothes you don't care too much about! I do wish they had had aprons available for open studio. And check the hours ahead of time before going in because sometimes they close early if there's a class scheduled.
