With a mixture of indoor and outdoor seating, this diner located just off Main Street in Beacon has an expansive menu that will leave anyone's appetite satiated. We decided to get a table indoors, and the staff (everyone was wearing a mask thankfully!) allowed us to choose which table we wanted to sit at to avoid sitting too close to other diners. Each booth had plexiglass attached on top of the dividers as well which was a nice add-on. The menu has everything a diner usually has, with food options for everyone. I ordered the eggs with Virginia ham steak, which came with potatoes and toast. The ham steak was moist and delicious. This was a VERY filling meal and I struggled to finish (doesn't happen that often). The toast was perfect and came with a touch of butter. I LOVE eating here! Always kind waitresses and food comes out fairly quick. I haven't had something I don't like here, i try something different almost every time. I last tried their penne ala vodka and since it's a diner, i wasn't expecting it to be as phenomenal as it was! They care about you here and you can truly feel it. If I could give the Yankee Clipper more than 5 stars for this review I would. Let me explain. I placed on online to-go order for two pulled pork sandwiches, one with fries and one with onion rings. We love their pulled pork sandwiches! I arrived pretty quickly after placing the order but still only waited a few minutes. They were very busy with people picking up to go orders. I should have checked my order before leaving but I didn't, thats my bad. When I got home we opened our orders and found a BLT and a veggie burger. We obviously realized we had someone else's order so we called them and they said they were trying to find our number to call us but since I had placed the order online they didn't have my number. I told them I would drive back and pick up our correct order but they said no, they wanted to deliver our order to our house. Within a few minutes a car pulled up, it was a gentleman who I believe is the owner or manager and he handed me our correct order. I tried to give him a tip for driving out so quickly but he wouldn't take it. I walked back inside and realized we now had dinner for tonight and lunch for tomorrow (the BLT and veggie burger) and when I opened the bad with our correct food they had also added some free desserts! I understand that mistakes happen, and this mistake caused us nothing more than a minor inconvenience, but when a business goes above and beyond to make things right, that is a business that has won me as a customer for life and a business that I will tell everyone else about as well. Yankee Clipper is in a great location and plenty of parking in their lot. The ambiance is old school, clean and cozy. Though every table was occupied, service was prompt and spot on. In town for Hudson Valley Brewing and after getting our wrist bands for the can release later in the day, we needed food in our bellies after our long drive north. We were told about this diner by another individual at the brewery and luckily we located it and got seated right away. I ordered the Copenhagen Benedict which is basically eggs Benedict but has corn beef hash thrown under the eggs. It was very tasty and the portion was worth the money. Yankee Clipper hasn't changed its appearance since I was there last, more than a few years ago. It has a small but efficiently laid out seating area with a lunch counter and is clean and well lit. Cutting to the chase - the service was excellent, the food was (gosh I hate using this word but here goes...) nasty. Ordering a tuna sandwich yielded the darkest, fishiest tuna I've ever eaten. Worse, it had three times the amount of tuna than there should have been. All I could think was why not use a quality tuna and use less? The tomatoes were unserveable. Making their unripe hardness worse was the fact that the slices were a quarter of an inch thick. The cream of tortellini soup was unnaturally thick, like it was loaded with food starch. A turkey sandwich ordered had the same indestructible tomato planks along with turkey that also was cut in chunks rather than slices. Caveman style. A cheese quesadilla and fries was just OK. Again, service was great but not so the food. We were surprised when we arrived and it wasn't busy at 12:30pm. After eating it made perfect sense. read more

The Yankee Clipper Diner is one of the few places in the heart of Main St in Beacon that's open before 10am for brunch, so we decided to check it out. One aspect I love about the aesthetic of this diner is it's old school exterior. Upon walking in, we were greeted and seated immediately. For breakfast, I decided on the chocolate chip banana pancakes with eggs and bacon and my boyfriend got an omelette with hash browns. The food is inexpensive and the portions are GINORMOUS! I was thoroughly impressed with my pancakes; light, fluffy, and buttery stuffed with fresh banana and chocolate chip, topped with fresh whipped butter. The eggs and bacon were about average; my over easy eggs were more like fried eggs and lacked yolk. I had a bite of my boyfriends omelette and found it to be very tasty; it was stuffed to the brim with extra meat and cheese. The hashbrowns were also nice and crispy, which I five major kudos to this diner for. Was my first time in the area and looking for a place to grab some food. All of the restaurants along main street appeared to have great ratings on yelp so I decided on this diner since there was seating available. Ordered the chili cheeseburger which is essentially a burger topped with chili and cheddar cheese. Sounds like a great combination of course, but what I had was mediocre at best. Beef pattie wasn't seasoned at all. A little salt and pepper can go a long way for a burger! The chili on it was also lackluster and didn't have much flavor to it at all. Food was overall edible, but is what you expect of diner food. Mediocre grub that will fill you up, but won't leave you raving about it. Again, it wasn't horrible, but seasoning can go a long way to elevating the food. read more

The food, my wife's corned beef and my burger, were both very good. We went with my son and his family, making us a party of 7. They had no problem accommodating us at noon on a holiday! And we weren't the largest party! Very impressed by the comprehensive menu that is not full of IQF entrees. Everyone's food was freshly prepared and even the picky grandchildren ate it up. Good if you are starving Ir if you have an enormous body to maintain; After driving by here several times I finally understood why people come here: the locals like it cause it's fast, cheap and has huge portions. It's not bad, but it's not great.Their salads are fine and some egg dishes too. This area has a big problem with weight control and diabetes and when you see the people consuming here you see why; huge portions of fatty, salty high carb food. There are some healthy options but the majority of the customers are Impressed with eating massive amounts of this diner food. It wouldn't hurt if they limited or reduced the portions.
