Went up on a recommendation from ATT in Augusta. Gentleman spent several minutes trying to resolve…read moreissue for us. Found out later it wasn't the phone but the hearing aids that went with it. The time spent here was greatly appreciated. Couldn't ask for better service! Thank you!!!

This has been genuinely one of the most frustrating experiences I have had with a business. I…read morebrought in my relatively new Xbox because it randomly just stopped turning on, and I couldn't seem to find out what was wrong with it. I brought the Xbox into Techy around March 20th, right as I was about to leave for Spring break for a little over a week, and I was charged about $50 for a diagnostic. I told them to keep the Xbox at the store for the week, thinking that would be more than enough time to find the issue and repair it. When I returned, I called the store and was told that the issue couldn't be resolved at that location, and that the Xbox was sent to Florida for some internal work. That itself was not the problem, as there was nothing Techy could have done but that in order for the Xbox to be fixed. The issue was that I called right at the end of March, either the 30th or the 31st, to inquire about the status, and that's when they told me it was in Florida. I was given a time frame of when it would be ready, which was mid April at the earliest, and the very end of April at the latest (in the words of the person I spoke with over the phone). They also repeatedly told me that they would call back with confirmations and updates, which they did not do a single time. April came and went, and I called at the end of April to get an update, and was told that it wasn't ready, and they hadn't even received any info from Florida. Again, they said they would call me back, and they didn't. I was very busy with school work from college for the next few weeks, so I didn't call back until mid May when my semester ended (they did not call at all in that time frame even though they said they would). They said it was still not ready, and that they could ship it to my home address. At this point, their estimates were already way off, but I gave them my info and told them to ship the repaired Xbox to my home when it was done. It is currently July 9th, and I still haven't received it. I recently called to inquire yet again, and they told me that the reason it was delayed was the 4th of July, even though over 3 weeks had already passed since the Xbox arrived back in Waterville. I live in Massachusetts, and I'm no expert on shipping, but I feel like 4 weeks to ship a single thing from Maine to MA should not take that long. Overall, this was just an incredibly frustrating experience with little to no communication from Techy. I will say though, that all of the employees were very pleasant, nice people, so nothing against their characters. I just wish that they were more realistic in their estimates, and also more communicative with their clients.

Short story: DON'T GO HERE. I should have just gone to the Apple Store in the Maine mall. I ended…read moreup there anyway and they were great. For the full story read on. I took my Mac Book pro here for diagnostic and hopefully repair. My keyboard and track pad had stopped working. The machine itself would work with either blue tooth or USB mouse/keyboards attached, but I wanted to see the cost of repairing the laptop keyboard/track pad. First off, it took them 3 days to give me a diagnostic and estimate. I had to call myself to find the status. They told me it was the top case and it would cost $380. I decided this would be worth it to me and agreed to proceed. They called 2 days later and said it wasn't the top case after all it was the logic board and that would cost a bit more $440. All the people I spoke with at this company were not good with people. They weren't friendly, or good at explaining what they there were doing. It was almost like they explained too much technical and not enough of what a client needed to know. The repair tech on the phone went on and on about parts and technical terms etc.. I don't repair computers. I had to repeatedly ask: How much will this cost and when can you get it done? He told me 1-2 more days and I decided for $60 more I'd move forward with the repair. I get a call. Now it's both the case and the logic board need to be replaced and the repair would be over $800.00. They have had my computer a week at this point. I said no to this repair, as I may as well buy a new laptop at that point. They said I would need to pay a 20% restock fee. I said I didn't feel I should have to pay a restock fee when they couldn't properly estimate or diagnose my problem. I never would have agreed to an $800 plus repair. I would pay their $75 dollar diagnostic fee. I asked them to put my laptop back together and return it as I gave it to them. When I went to pick it up, there was no conversation, no apology or explanation, nothing. I barely got eye contact. I tested that my machine was working. Everything seemed in order. When I went to use it the next day (with Bluetooth keyboard/mouse) the battery ran out. When I plugged the charger in, it wouldn't register the charger. I couldn't charge the laptop. I took my Mac book to the Apple Store in the Maine Mall. They diagnosed it free of charge!!! This is what they found. There is a simple plug in cable in the case that enables the charger to work. This cable was disconnected. They plugged it back in and it worked fine, and they didn't even charge me. So Unlimited Technology formerly Capitol Computers either directly sabotaged my laptop so it would appear to be in working order at their office but break later; or they are simply incompetent. Either way this is completely unacceptable service. The Apple Store diagnosed the keyboard issue free of charge. I can't remember exactly the full diagnosis, but they said it would be a little over $500 to repair. I decided to just use it with Bluetooth accessories until I upgrade. I should have just gone to Apple, as I have always had the great customer service at the Maine Mall store. I was simply hoping to save some time as Unlimited Technology formerly Capitol Computers was closer to me and I try to support small business. It was really disappointing how awful the experience was.

That was a week ago and I never heard anything. So they lost my business to Best Buy, who fit me in within 24 hours. ‍
