I see a lot of bad reviews here but we had a decent experience. We leased a MachE and the price/cost was good after all the rebates and such. The sales guy was attentive and the finance guy was pretty no frills - didn't try to talk us into anything that wasn't clearly beneficial, we just went through the numbers. They were a little slow getting it all cleaned and set up, but it was brand new so we didn't worry too much. When we bought a Subaru in 2017 the purchase process took like 2.5 hours just for the finance part, so this was much nicer. All that being said, we have not had to use any services yet, so we'll see how that goes, as a lot of the bad reviews have to do with that. read more

Customer service is subpar. Here are examples: 1. Parts not being in stock when appointment scheduled a week prior to 2. Their words "twenty minute repair" - I was there on site for almost 2 hours with no update 3. Salesperson Chris called me regarding my complaints - I returned his call and never heard back. 4. In purchasing the vehicle, there was a vibration which they said they would remedy. I found out it was a bent rim on my own. Todd's "olive branch" was for me to pay $550 on a new rim. I went in with a pull tab game sheet saying I won something. It had three red cars on the winning tab. It appeared I had won a snowblower on the prize legend on the left. A pushy salesman walked over and asked if I was ready to buy. I said I was not, I'm not a compulsive buyer. He punched the flyer number in the computer and told me to click the spin button to see what I won. Then he said to follow him, like he knew the prize before it even stopped spinning. And what did that have to do with the prize tab? He reached into an office with a bunch of salesman sitting around and handed me a $2 bill. He never asked me if there was a vehicle I was interested in, which there was. I told him I'd like to look at the new Bronco out front. He said it's open, which I did sit in and check out. I read all the bad reviews, and agree. Employees standing outside smoking, the sales room with sparsely scattered desks looked like a warehouse atmosphere, sales people not especially anxious to greet a potential customer. So I took my $2 and on my way out happen to catch a younger salesman Sam, more eager to have a conversation. I told him I checked out the Bronco and asked if it was available with a manual transmission. He enthusiastically told me no, but there is a bigger Bronco coming out this Summer with the manual TRA option. TERRIBLE PLACE! Went to look at a used car and left in tears. After asking many questions with no clear answers, Burke would only say "the car speaks for itself". After pointing out how bald the tires were he refused to accept that they were bald. The whole time he just kept saying "wanna buy it? .... so ya wanna buy it?" and when I said I wanted to think about how to pay for he said "it's only $9000 can't you just buy it?".... um I'm sorry, that's a lot of money and not for you to tell me if I can afford paying it all up front... After that and giving it some thought i said I was still interested in it... then Burke proceeded to say "well someone put a deposit on it so if you want it you have go buy it now".... so either there was no one that put a deposit and he was lying to me OR someone did put a deposit and if I bought it that day he would just be scamming the other buyer. After saying I would like to buy it he immediatly shoved a financing sheet in my face before I could say I wanted to take the day to consider how I wanted go pay for it... when I said that he ripped the paper away from me and said "good luck" and end of discussion. I financed with USAA and wanted to use my AMEX to add $5,000 towards the price. USAA sent an email to the finance person who was great. I was out the door in a new truck with a prepaid envelope that needed three signatures from my wife to mail back. This is how a dealer is supposed to serve people and keep them as future customers. Don't waste your time here (Yankee Ford-South Portland). This may be the worst Ford dealer (or any "professional" car dealership we've ever stepped foot into). The GM was extremely rude and condescending. He made us feel unwelcomed and acted unprofessional. We made an offer on a vehicle that was less than 4% under asking price and he rudely declined and turned his back on us muttering about us as he walked away. There were SO MANY other ways to decline the offer. We had done our homework on the pricing, so we were making a fair offer. To us this was so unprofessional and no way to treat a potential customer. I'm very glad this happened early in our experience so that we know because we would not want to do business with "management" who behaves in this manner. No thank you. We'll gladly make our purchase elsewhere. PS: we're not first-time car buyers. We have experienced incredible service in most interactions with other dealerships. What a shame. Beware! These people are scam artists, pure and simple. This past fall I noticed my car making a weird buzzing noise when I accelerated. Since I have a Ford and it was bought used, I figured taking it to a Ford place would be my best bet. When I was up visiting my parents this winter, I did just that. The people at Yankee Ford told me I would need to replace a part that would cost over $700. I didn't have $700 to drop on a car at that point in time so, as I tend to do, I went for a 2nd opinion at the mechanic's my parents have used for 10 years. He said that the noise was caused by the car just needing to warm up in the cold weather - nothing was wrong with it! Yankee Ford wanted to replace a part and charge me close to a grand just to screw me. Avoid at all costs! Real brief review, admittedly based only on an email exchange. I sent an inquiry to this dealership on a used car, and got the expected "there's lots of interest in this car! Come buy it quick!" I wasn't interested at their price, so I told them as much and left it at that. I got an email from them a couple of weeks later, and I restated what I was interested in, and told them the price I was willing to pay. I got a condescending reply back thanking me for my "ridiculas offer." Anyway, it smacked of old-school auto sales hucksterism, which I find a huge turnoff. Buyer Beware Yankee Ford South Portland Maine: On May 27th 2021, I went to Yankee Ford to purchase a white Ford Bronco. The MSRP price was $28,695. The sales rep said there might be a student discount but nothing else because it was a hot car and stock was limited. After speaking to the Sales Manager, he proceeded to tell me there was an upcharge of over $3,000 dollars and the actual prices was $31K before taxes. I want into the Sales Manager office and pulled up their web site where they were advertising the vehicle below MSRP at $28,303. He said he cannot legally post this price but that is was over $31K. I wonder, Is this standard practice or because I am female?? The sales rep said he could get me back down to the $28,303 but by that time, I had no trust in this dealership. the sales Manager would not come out and talk to me. My car has been in and out of the body shop all summer between a crash and some regular maintenance work and I just can't say enough about Scott and Brant. They both have clear communication and really make you feel like family. 4 times this summer I had to move my carseats between one of their loaner cars and my car and each time Scott was happy to help me mind the babies, carry diaper bags and generally help me feel supported though the bustle of a busy garage with babies in tow. Brian in the service department is always happy to chat up my little boy and point him to the donuts. I bought my 2009 F150 XLT at Yankee Ford. This dealership seems to operate a lot more like a job site than a retail business. Smokers lingering right outside the front door, loud dirty jokes, and a very disorganized showroom area - hopefully they had just had some sort of rowdy snack party. I got the typical sleazy salesman treatment right off the bat, which would have been fine if the salesman hadn't given me the wrong information on an important feature of the truck. I asked him to double-check because it was a major selling point for me and he came back confidently spouting false information. Because I had taken delivery of the truck without providing my down payment I was in a position to return the truck because of the false information that drove the sale. The salesman was no help, his sales manager was completely disinterested but their finance manager, Bill Rowe stepped up and made things right when I went back to return the truck. He even managed to save the sale by saving me some additional money. If you're going to Yankee it should be because they have an unbelievable price, and in that case you should request to only deal with Bill Rowe, the finance manager. You won't need a salesman over there, they'll just get in your way. read more

I really like this place. I've gone here for more serious things my regular mechanic can't handle/things under warranty. I have to say reading the other negative reviews was kind of scary. I don't see it as a bad place. I know for a fact they've been charitable to nonprofits in the area as well. I usually talk to Brant on the phone but Timothy is usually the person I see going in there. He's funny and knows what he's talking about and doesn't beat around the bush. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because their nice transport guy Willy got pretty bent out of shape (but was still going to drive me mind you) when I had said Brant said they'd drive me to work in Saco. I told him and Tim that if he said they could do it they better honor it or I would have gone elsewhere. They stopped after that-I was dead serious. Ended up only taking 45 minutes so I stayed to wait. Then Willy was really nice and got me a bottled water. I think that was his way of apologizing. Do what you say you're going to do or your word is crap. Didn't need that at 7:30am. Overall though they've been fair and decent. I'll be back. read more

I definitely don't recommend buying a car here. After finding a car that seemed like a good deal, my Fiance and I wanted to take it to our mechanic to make sure everything was alright with it. Our salesman kept trying to convince us that absolutely nothing was wrong with it, and to not even bother checking CarFax because their information is inaccurate. After a lot of back and forth, we ended up taking it to the mechanic who found that half of the car had been entirely replaced. We did end up looking on CarFax, which revealed that the car was in an accident. We also found the accident report online, that stated $4,500 worth of damage. Of course, our salesman acted like he had no idea. Aren't car dealerships supposed to disclose this information? I guess they don't have to if they "didn't know," but the information is right there on CarFax for anyone to look up. Obviously they did know about the accident, which is 1. why the car was so cheap, and 2. why our salesman didn't want us to get it checked by the mechanic. We didn't want to buy a car that had been damaged so heavily -- it was also clear that the previous owner didn't take care of it at all. It reeked of cigarettes and had burns in the fabric. The salesman then desperately tried to get us to simply buy a new car or lease one -- but that's not what we came for. Then, our salesman tried calling a week later to try to convince us that there's been a big mistake and that the car was never in an accident. We saw for ourselves at the mechanic -- the hood was entirely replaced (the original Ford factory stickers weren't there) and it was clear that parts were painted over. Just a bunch of seedy, tattooed salesmen who want to make a quick buck. read more

Briana in service is very rude was unable to assist me when I called. After talking to other colleagues it seems the wealth and publicity of her father is speaking to her to much. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone seeing family is more important to please than customers. for an example, I witnessed with my own two eyes, she denied a customer a loaner car. poor lady was crying all over service and what did she do? She kept saying saying no. I thought they were all about building relationships. However someone walked in and seemed to know everyone got a loaner no questions asked! I cannot believe how many positive reviews I see. Service department has the worst customer service I have ever seen. I recently took my car to Yankee for it's 100k service (timing belt, water pump, etc) because there was a special $30 off labor (all makes and models) during the Covid pandemic. It wasn't my idea to bring it there since I have a foreign car, but a friend of mine insisted these mechanics are versatile. Beware folks, DO NOT bring your car here if it is foreign!! They were so confused looking for parts for my car, which should have been a red flag right off the bat. My car was diving fine and was smooth and quiet until I got it back from these guys. I got it back and it makes this annoying buzzing noise every time I start it up and lasts for about 10 seconds. I was told "I wouldnt worry about it" by one of the service advisors as well as the service manager when I brought it back concerned. Yeah, BS! It took these guys weeks to try and figure out what went wrong until they got so frustrated they sent it to a Honda dealer to diagnose. Turns out it was a result of poor workmanship. The timing belt Yankee installed was cracked, which I never even received an apology for. Although, Yankee did pay to get it replaced it did not fix the problem. My car is still noisy. So the Honda techs are scratching their heads thinking it may be a water pump issue. Yeah, that'll be an all inclusive $700 job which Yankee refused to pay for and that I'll be stuck with! Talk about frustrating, it was perfect before any work was done, right? Sorry, Yankee does not seem to care about their customers and to also not care for their reputation. I have 2 vehicles that I always bring to Yankee for service. I have a Jeep and a Mazda, and they have great service on both vehicles. I blew a tire out by the South Portland Nursing home, and slowly made my way to Yankee, a few minutes past closing. They saw me limp in, and opened up - gave me a rental car for the night and took care of my Mazda in the morning, at a great price. I have sponsored a lot of fundraisers in the past and I can always count on them to give me a wonderful auction item. They are community oriented and the people who work there are great. read more

My wife and I put up with them when they withheld a rebate, kept forgetting a deposit we left when we ordered a new car and when they left a dealer installed options off of a new car. We accepted their corrective actions and even left good reviews. We decided to pay off the vehicle because of an extremely poor interest rate they gave us and waited for our title. 60+ days later, we find they never submitted the documents to Maine DMV, they assigned the financing to the wrong lender (Ally) and now they are holding our title hostage until we sign a new sales contract... at least that is what they told DMV. It is the Barbara / Brian show. The first has more versions of reality than Lewis Carroll, the other has more ways to separate a customer from his money than P.T. Barnum. A service agent , "Buzz," told me I needed work I suspected was not necessary and quoted me a sum for parts for the job that seemed ridiculously high. When I told him I didn't want the work done, he became irate. I'm sure he thought that, as an older woman, I was easy prey. I took the car to another service center and the mechanic told me the work was not necessary, and even if it was, the prices given by Yankee Ford for the repair and the the part I was told was needed were astronomically high. It's clear that service writers at Yankee Ford, like those in many unscrupulous dealers and other service centers, are salesmen who receive incentives to recommend service that isn't needed and overcharge for work being done. Short Version: Yankee Ford is bar none the worst car dealer I have ever delt with. Their salesmen are slimy con artists. They use bait cars to lure you onto their lot to sell you a more expensive car. Which in my case they didn't even have the car when I made the appointment to buy and ONLY TOOK DOWN THE LISTING AFTER I THREATENED TO CONTACT THE BETTER BUISNESS BUREAU Long Version: I visited three times over the course of a few months about the same car, a 2012 Chevy Caprice. Each time they found an excuse not to sell it to me but instead tried to sell me a new ford. The first time I looked at the car I test drove it to my mechanic nearly 20 miles away in Gray, where he found that the front drivers side brake caliper was completely unbolted with a brand new inspection sticker. He fixed it so I could safely drive back. I brought this safety hazard the salesman who was completely indifferent, offering no compensation. Stating only, "well its fixed, right?". Bewildered, I pressed on with the sale until I was told there was no way they could finance me. Instead they tried to lease me a brand new ford for $350/mo. It was leagues out of my budget so I declined. The next day I went to find a bank to finance the car myself and the very first one I visited pre approved me no problem for that exact car. So I returned to yankee ford with my paperwork showing my max loan amount and they added an extra $750 to the sticker price for "taxes and fees." Now I know taxes and fees are commonplace, but it just so happened to push the final price a couple hundered dollars over my loan limit. When I told him I could not pay that due to the limit and tried to negotiate the price he would absolutely not work with me and told me, "if that doesn't work for you, find another car." (I later found out he was the SALES MANAGER) Flash forward a month and a half and the car who's price could not be negotiated had dropped $2,500. I figured that was a good price and I liked the car enough to deal with them again. I set up an appointment Thursday afternoon to look at the car the following Saturday. I even preemptively applied for another loan (which I again, was approved.) The sales maganer texts me confirming my appointment later that same day. I visit the lot come Saturday ready to finally purchase the car and he tells me, "We sold the car this morning, his loan just cleared. But I can show you some other cars." I walked out. As I drive away the sales manager texts me some hollow "sorry to waste your time I hope you have a good rest of your day" so I text him back venting my frustration, also threatening to contact the better buisness bureau. Not 10 minutes after that message was sent, I recieved a notification from cargurus.com (the site I found the Caprice on) that the listing was just taken down. HERE'S WHERE IT GETS REALLY SLIMY: I tell my sister the whole story. She (rightfully) thinks something is fishy about it all. She calls them specifically requesting to test drive the 2012 Chevy Caprice. She confirms twice to two seprate people that she was coming to see the Caprice and they set up an appointment that day to look at it without a mention that it wasn't there. She goes in and talks to the salesman about is and he tells her THE CAR SOLD THURSDAY! THE DAY I SET UP THE APPOINTMENT TO SEE IT. The subsequent two days after it sold they never gave me any indication that it was sold. Not only that, but THEY KEPT THE LISTING UP FOR 2 MORE DAYS HOPING TO BAIT MORE UNSUSPECTING BUYERS! I went in for an oil change only. They came back saying I needed $450.00 worth of very necessary things done, it was very urgent that I get it done right away. I told them I was driving to Boston. They made me feel like I would get stranded down there. I know my truck, and know it's in excellent condition. This isn't my first time Yankee Ford tried to scare me into getting unnecessary things worked on. It was only an oil change! I didn't ask for anything else. I went to Boston, and when I was heading back home, my check engine light came on. I took it to another garage, and they looked under the hood, and saw the cap for the oil was never put on. It was just sitting there. Com'on Yankee Ford. Also the other things they said needed to be done urgency, I asked the other garage to look into it. and they said I can wait another 2 months! I finally went inside knowing I wanted information on a certain flat black F150. I go over to the brochures and look for what I need. I search for 10 minutes and I even go into the cabinets underneath and come up with nothing. Still no one to assist me... Looking around the showroom, I can't tell who works there and who doesn't. I decide to ask a gentleman who had papers in his hands if he worked there. He said yes. I ask if there is a James there and he said "yes, I'll go tell him you're here." A couple minutes later James comes up to me and starts to assist me. I tell James about a specific truck I saw on their website. We go look it up on his computer. He clicks on a red truck which seems to be the same model, but wrong color. I tell him that there is a similar truck on the lot but it's not flat black like I want and I'm not sure if it's the same model as the one I saw on their website. He says that we can go outside to look at it. I say "there is no point if it's not the same truck, is there anyway of telling which model or package this one online has?" and he has no answer. I advise him that there is a flat black one on their website and to click on it and see if he can match a stock number or figure out any details. He finally does and I ask him to find out how much that truck is. His answer was "I'm guessing it's around $44,000. I was like, "you're guessing?" I needed real numbers so I can do my own math and figure out what I need out of the deal and what I need for my trade. He knew about the trade right from the beginning because of a call I made a couple days before so he had an upper hand on the situation and knew to manipulate numbers. He asked me a basic question, "what do you want for a payment?" and I say "as low as possible." I asked him what the price of the truck is and all he can say is "I don't know, we can go look at." yet again I had to tell him that the truck I want was not on the lot. In the middle of our conversation a man (tall older man with a bump on his nose) behind me quietly was telling James to move on and that there was no deal here today. He made James get up and walk over to a couple who was there for exactly the same reason I was. TO BUY A CAR or TRUCK. This man, manager, supervisor, owner... I don't know (I'll research this later) comes up to me and asks if I had any other questions. I told him that I do and that James was assisting me. He said "There was no deal here today." I said "We don't know that yet, but you put this couple ahead of me?!" He says "Well he (James) told you the price and he told you the payment and you said No, but you cans stick around until he's free again." I said "He didn't tell me a price and he didn't tell me a payment." This man so sure of himself walks over to James' desk and picks up a piece of paper. He says, "This isn't your paperwork here?" and I said "That's not mine, but is this how your treat your customers?" This man turns red and says "oh it's not yours? I'll get James back here" I was so furious I loudly spoke "This is ridiculous, I'm out of here!" I've never been treated like that before. This man only cared about getting people in and out the door. Any slight sign of no deal he was quick to toss them aside. He even had the audacity to say I can stick around and wait till they weren't busy. Waste my time when they don't have time for me?! He couldn't even tell me apart from the previous guy James was helping! I've heard horror stories about Yankee Ford before but still decided to check out their sale. I even know someone who worked there who after 2 weeks QUIT because he felt morally wrong about how they treat people there. This place gives Ford a bad name and they don't deserve to be open. Went in on the weekend to get a quote on a truck. They did show the invoice as their commercials say and offered $1,000 under that plus other incentives. I was told on the phone twice that if I went in I would be given a "scratch ticket" for a chance to win something. At a minimum I would win something, who knows, maybe a pen. Regardless, I went in and was told that I had to already have the scratch ticket which would have come in the mail. The odds of winning would be near zero but it would have been nice to try. The thing that really made me upset and dislike this dealership is that my salesman described the scratch ticket saying people come in very often thinking they won $1,000. He said the tickets say you won the money but in very fine print say you didn't actually win. He then laughed it off and told me a few stories about people coming thinking they had won. Finally, the sales room was really gross and dirty. The sales rep I spoke with had an office and his along with many others were a complete mess and all had empty bottles of soda and gym clothes on the floor. ... To the person who said people are smoking right outside the door, this is still true and two people were smoking right outside of the front door. read more

Yankee Ford is a business that does not warrant one star. My daughter's car broke down in front of their driveway. She sat there for over an hour. Not one of the employees came out to help her. It was during business hours. An older gentleman, pushed her car into the breakdown lane. Shame on Yankee. I bought a vehicle from this establishment many years ago, they took us for a ride. I was willing to forgive and forget. Not today.. There was no commission involved. Maybe a business who should be aware of paying it forward. From all the radio ads you'd think this dealership can't wait to sell you a Ford! However in reality, this dealership is a complete dump and has horrible salespeople. Yankee Ford is like the dive bar of Ford dealerships. It's one of the worst dealership we've been to in the tri-state area. From the parking lot looking in, windows reveal old beat up desks, old wiring and dirt cluttering windows; it looks like a flashback to 1974. The lot has a bunch of used Ford trucks that are gross and stink like mold and cigarettes. When we asked the price of one of them, we were told "40K- firm". The salespeople were sloppily dressed, hanging outside, smoking in front of customers cars, which is a classy first impression of where you are supposed to want to spend 60K on a truck. Salespeople were rude; in person and on the phone. The guy refused to add up the price with the incentive discounts and told me to "get a calculator and add it up" myself. In person, upon entering 2 salespeople walked out through the door we were holding with their customer and never acknowledged us or even said hello or thank you- as if we were the door man. I seriously don't know how this place is still in business or how Ford wants anything to do with this place-its embarrassing. read more

I have bought several vehicles from Yankee Ford and plan to stay with them in the future,I bought a Fusion and after only a couple of months the transmission had to be replaced,I only paid 100.00 and the rest was on the insurance we took on when we bought the car.All my service is done by Yankee also and I plan to stay in the Yankee family kidding I tell them when I buy the car that I padlock the hood and give then the key! read more
