I've been going to Yanni's since they were at their old location off Tamarac in Denver. This location is much larger and like most restaurants in this part of town, the prices have steadily risen. The good and welcoming attitude of the Yannni's staff is still fantastic though, which is why I keep going back. My recent visit was for a HS graduation celebration. Four of us had apps and dinner and all thoroughly enjoyed it. The lamb kebabs are never a let down, the saganaki (flaming cheese) always had a "wow" factor, and their complimentary Ouzo for the adults is always enjoyed (mainly seeing my wife's face when she tastes it, as she always seems to forget how much she disliked it the last time we went to Yanni's! But... it's a tradition and traditions should be adhered to!). If you're in the area (Landmark), give Yanni's a try. I do think you'll be disappointed! read more

I want to preface my remarks by saying that I do not enjoy writing bad reviews. I know how hard running a good restaurant can be and do not often write one star reviews. In this case I would have wanted an option for no stars. Our meal at Yanni's was the worst meal we have had in our ten years in Denver. From the bread service to dessert, nothing was done well. We started with Tarama and Kolokithia. Insipid examples of both. My wife ordered Lamb Souvlaki that was so tough and over cooked that she could not eat it. I tried to bite through it and could not so we had to send the order back. She then ordered the Mussels. Hard to mess up. I do not know where they source them but they were tasteless...mostly uneaten. I am a lover of Octopus. Had it in Denver many times and in numerous other countries as well. Worst preparation ever. We looked forward to having Baklava. Awful. Just awful. One bite and left it. As we looked at the table next to us we saw that they too were disappointed. Their food was mostly uneaten. They did not ask for doggie bags. The final insult was the charge for using a credit card. $4.22 to use one on a $110 check. As I said in the beginning, I did not enjoy writing this, but we rely on yelp reviews when dinning out and feel an obligation to do so for others. read more

I stopped by Yanni's and had lunch after running errands. I ordered a Gyro sandwich with a side of fries and a Diet Coke. The Diet Coke tasted great. Not the usual toned down taste one can often get from the bar fountain soda gun. Fries were excellent. I could tell they were hand cut and fresh. Gyro sandwich was average. My server was polite. He could speak up and more clearly. Other than that, he was fine with me. Ambiance is mellow. Place is clean and service was good. I would stop by again for lunch. read more

After a business meeting that ran late, a colleague and I were looking for a place that was open for lunch. We saw Janni's had decent reviews and we both like Mediterranean food, so we gave it a shot. It was mid afternoon so it wasn't very crowded. We were seated right away by a very friendly server. Always amazing! I normally get the gyro plate to go but yesterday I got the chicken souvlaki and it was phenomenal! The chicken was so tender and had a lot of flavor. My fiancée had the lamb souvlaki which was also very good. I recommend getting their spicy red pepper sauce (I can't remember the name of it) because it is yummy with this dish and tzatziki. We also had a bottle of Greek wine, also very good. Service was fantastic, and as always the owner was there and gave us a little shot! Ordered a takeout order when I walked in. Nice little restaurant. They have a big, true Greek, menu. These chicken kabobs are gross, I dunno if all the liquid on the bottom is water from the rice or dressing on the salad, the rice is awful, the veggies are good and crisp, and the chicken is good. The tzatziki sauce I got in one cup was good and the other cup was super watery and gross which I don't understand. It's like they had one good scoop left and then dumped the rest into the other sauce container. They messed up my order also. I paid for lamb and chicken and got all chicken... Also paid for Dolmas, no Dolmas... I paid over $60 for chicken and veggies... Absolutely NOT worth it... I'd avoid this place for sure! Greek To Me is 1000 times better and way less expensive! The food was amazing! Loved the tatzaki, lamb souvlaki, rice, and the salad was really fresh. I have had better baklava. We went the same week few days later and I had the chicken souvlaki. Again delicious. Only found it because we had two separate appts for dog eye appt. Would definitely go back and recommend it for lunch. So this evening my husband and I met our friends here at Yanni's Greek Restaurant in Greenwood Village area. The service was EXCELLENT and the food was THEEE BEST!!!! It was so fresh and absolutely delicious!!! We definitely will be returning to this restaurant. Our waiter was excellent and always checking on how we were all doing. The manager came by out table and was talking with us and making sure we were happy with our dinners. Which we absolutely were. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone that likes Greek food. It was ever so fresh and delicious. Also I must say it wasn't crowded at all. We got there a lil after four in the evening and it was t crowded at all on a Sunday evening. People that were there eating seemed very happy with their meals as well. Everyone seemed very happy with their food and like I mentioned the staff were excellent. If you love Greek food, Yanni's is a must try! Everything I ate was wonderful. The gyro meat flavorful, the tzatziki rich and creamy, fresh onions, tomatoes and cucumbers; I was in heaven. The portions of all the plates coming from the kitchen were huge! Yanni himself also came around with little plastic shot glasses to try a Greek liquor on the house! Our server kept us entertained the entire night as well. There's also paintings and wine scattered throughout the entire restaurant. A welcoming environment to create a delicious dinner. At around $30 a person, Yanni's isn't cheap but won't break the bank either and it is well worth it in my opinion. read more

I went for a large party. I don't know why they set us up on the outdoor patio. It's winter (new year's eve). They have a back room they could've put this party in. Instead we were under heaters. As we entered the patio, we were hit with a really cold blast. As it was New Year's Eve, people were dressed fairly nicely. And not in winter clothes. I ordered two appetizers. The fried zucchini was very good and I like the tzatziki. I ordered another appetizer that was overpriced and mediocre. The Village Sampler. Maybe because I'm used to great Greek cuisine in Chicago, I was under impressed. Also many of us were done eating when others first got their food. I don't think I've ever seen spaghetti at a Greek restaurant before. And a number of people ordered it. We sat at the bar after dinner. As we were leaving, we passed the room we had been seated in. There were almost full plates of spaghetti, not finished. Many people had to go containers that they had left behind. That says something. read more

I was driving during a fairly long road trip, and got hungry towards the end of my drive; it was late in the evening and not many food options were available. I did a search and found this restaurant nearby. I was promptly greeted and seated. I ordered the Lamb Souvlaki kebab. I was first provided bread service, which was very good. Soon after receiving my breast service, my meal was served. My lamb kebab was absolutely amazing. The lamb was cooked perfectly, it was extremely tender and very flavorful. This was my first time coming here and we came for Mother's day. It was phenomenal and one of the best Greek places we have around us! Our group got the swordfish skewer, lamb shank, lamb skewer, and the veal. It was all amazing and the portions are perfect and you'll definitely leave with leftovers. The meats were all tender and juicy and full of flavor. The owner came by every so often with a shot of Ouzo as well and he is so nice and welcoming! This place has such a great atmosphere and everyone working here was bright and fun! They all loved being there it seemed and made it such a great experience! Yanni's is a wonderful establishment, a truly family oriented atmosphere and delicious menu offerings. Wonderful, fresh food and a welcoming ambience. We started with the Saganaki and wine, a definite must have to open any meal. They serve it with great flair (flambé style), most entertaining and with such statement. Opa!!! Our lunch ran into dinner and we had a need to sustain our bellies so we enjoyed the Athenon Salata, Swordfish Souvlaki (so tender), and Spanakopita. Mission accomplished! If I wasn't so full I might have entertained seconds! It was wonderful to meet Yanni as he helped top off our evening with a fiery drink of Ouzo and good cheer. Takes reservations but can't guarantee outdoor seating. Food: we ordered a bunch of things and split which was def the perfect approach. Lamb chops were the table favorite. This is a difficult review, as I believe in supporting good local restaurants, and have eaten at Yanni's several times over a span of decades. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, the staff seem happy and trained. The food, historically, has been solidly good. Tonight, my wife and I ordered 2 of the half dozen or so specials. Both seafood. They looked great on the plate. Hers was on a large bed of mashed potatoes, mine on a large bed of rice. Hers had very few pieces of actual seafood, my cod was small and undercooked. I related to our nice waiter that I wasn't going to send mine back, but he should give feedback to the kitchen that it was marginal. He apologized but made no attempt to make things right. When he cleared my plate with a piece of poorly cooked fish on it, he said nothing. So bottom line, we had a $100+ dinner with a marginal experience. I seldom write reviews, and only for exceptions on both ends of the spectrum. I'm sad to have to write this one, but I rely on this community for quality evaluations and am obligated to return the favor. read more

Friendly staff. However, the food left a lot to be desired! The lamb was dry and chewey, possibly the worst we have ever had. The Gyros were also very dry and tasteless. The corfu chicken was mostly phyllo dough with little filling, but the filling was tasty, so was the green bean veggies. They could have done so much better by using better cut of meet and better marinate. Overall, it was very disappointing, especially after spending over $250. Extremely overpriced for the quality! There's not too many upscale Greek restaurants that I know of in Denver and Yanni's is certainly worth a visit if you're craving Greek. They have a pretty extensive menu in addition to 6-7 daily specials. They start you off with bread which didn't look like anything fancy but was piping hot and butter melted right in. My husband ate almost the whole basket of 6. We tried the village sampler which consisted of hummus, spicy roasted red pepper feta dip and an eggplant dip. My favourite was the red pepper dip but wouldn't recommend if you don't like spice. I didn't love the eggplant one and the hummus was good but definitely on the garlicky side. For the main we tried the veal daphne which was breaded and stuffed with kasseri cheese and spinach. I liked the sauce it was in, the potato's were seasoned wonderfully and the veal was cooked perfectly and easy to chew but I didn't really see the point of breading it since the breading got soft in the sauce and I wasn't a fan of the cheese (that's on me for not asking for a description of kasseri cheese though-it was a very strong tasting cheese and I prefer milder ones). I wish I would've ordered the lamb kebabs as they are known for these and they they looked great from what I saw at other tables. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The owner greeted us when we came in, seated us right away at a table for 4 (even though we were only 2) which I appreciated for the space, and came around with free shots of oozo. The restaurant has a fun decor and there is the option to sit "outside" in a covered area that is heated. Overall, a good restaurant but I don't think I did a good job picking a meal that was right for me so I will have to try again next time read more

A neighborhood staple. For years, Yanni's has always brought home the taste of authentic Greek food. Tonight's entrees were the Swordfish and Mahi-Mahi. Both dishes were served with saffron rice and we enjoyed the dishes thoroughly. Be ready for Yanni to offer you a shot of Ouzo to start off your dining experience with a smile and a toast of Opa! We had asked to be seated fairly late and felt bad coming so close to shutting down for the night, but Yanni would hear nothing of it. It's been over 6 years since I posted a negative review. I always post positive ones, but I will let you choose what you would do in this situation. We made a reservation for Yanni's for 6:30 and we arrived a few minutes early, it was for a party of four. We sat outside on the patio by Yanni the owner. He did warn us about two large parties there and they haven't even ordered. So we looked at the menu and watched other people sit down. We had several tables come in after us and got their drinks in before us. Then finally Yanni came over with Ouzo which is disgusting, all four of us drank it out of respect. The waiter finally came over to take our drinks and eventually our order. They provided bread and butter. It took over an hour and a half to get our food, by that time we were full from eating the bread. The only reason I'm writing this is because I spoke to the manager before 12 noon and she was very rude. I told her the situation and she asked if I was comped for our food, I said no. I didn't want a discount, I even told her the food was excellent. We even tipped our server 25%. She kept raising excuses about staffing, I own multiple retail businesses and I don't have that issue. I know that restaurants are having a hard time getting help, but they knew about the two large parties because you have to book them. If she knew they would be understaffed, Yanni and management should have stepped in to help. My family owns restaurants and delis. Like I said the food is excellent, but not worth waiting for over 90 minutes. I never raised my voice, it was more of letting them know that I will not ever come back and I liked their food! read more

I've been looking for Tarama in Denver, which is hard to find. I found it on Yanni's menu so we headed there. We ordered lots of mezze -- tarama, meatballs, fried zucchini and avgolemono soup, and the gyro platter. I was NOT disappointed. Everything was DELICIOUS. I was so happy and in my happy place.
