Between the lighting being a little lower and the TVs being removed, it's made music more of a central part of the atmosphere. I've dropped by a few times to experience some amazing DJs! It's also nice because you can come in dressed up or dressed down and no matter what you won't feel out of place. Additionally, the drinks are so good! But be aware - some of them are stronger than you may realize. My favorite drink to order at the moment is the Pandan Painkiller. I can only drink just one though since it tastes like a vacation and a sippable dessert all in one! Also - I gotta shout out Ademir and Adrian! They are both so kind, fun and really take care of their folks. If you have been here, but not recently be sure to give it another spin in the near future!

So we're getting ready to leave and only then realize there's also a basement door. If you come from downhill, you don't pass the basement door first so you don't see it. They should have a sign upstairs indicating entrance is downstairs. They offer guests public wifi? I'm sorry I don't know a single restaurant in DC that does this, every single one has a password. Public wifi isn't safe. I've been here twice now, first time they were out of the Dirty Banana. Second visit I sat at the bar and ordered it but they don't make it in front of you, it's made off in the back kitchen even though they have a blender on the counter and wall of liquor. It's a frozen drink made with Jamaican run, kahlua, baileys, banana puree, and dole soft serve vanilla. Took me an hour to drink it, it was so strong! Sitting at the basement bar somehow smells like a toilet even though it's at the back of the bar. The front door is open to the street so it's not cool from a/c in the middle of the bar. By 10:30pm music is cranked up. Bill has 20% tip auto included.

A pre-wedding reception took place on the back patio area, with the wedding on the lawn adjacent to this. The venue set up folding chairs on the green. The green is surrounded by stone paths and gardens filled with pretty flowers- and it was so peaceful to walk around and explore. My kids ran around, finding 'secret' spots. The bride and groom love the outdoors, so this spot made so much sense. The reception afterwards was in one of the main rooms, a beautiful room, which accommodated us all comfortably. After dinner, we were asked to move to the opposite room for a dj and dancing. I wish the staff had told us that we could return to the dining room- to just leave our belongings there. Or perhaps I misunderstood this. Our host eventually shared that they had rented the entire property for the night- that we could gather anywhere that we wanted. We ended up chilling in the dining room as well as another smaller room where there was coffee (also not communicated well).

The grounds are beautiful, but the view is lacking. With balconies along the perimeter and short walks under foliage among well pruned botanicals to please the eye, the Meridian House is a historical and aesthetic venue that presents a tasteful backdrop for a charitable or celebratory event. The grounds have room for a lawn game of croquet beneath glorious and majestic trees. They flank the verdant lawn with vintage styled couches and armchairs to allow attendees to lounge and relax while viewing the players. The pebble carpeted area just outside the main doors to the outdoor portion is quaintly located beneath more arboreal decoration. These trees are well groomed to allow for beautiful hanging lights and the natural foliage to provide a canopy beneath the stars or daytime sky. The indoors are just as appealing, but in my opinion, much more traditional and expected with the architecture, lighting, stairs, materials and decor. Appropriately decorated for this historical venue, it also provides a charming, romantic and/or sophisticated theme to your event. Fabulous venue!

I don't even know how to describe the energy in this place, but you can just feel it the moment you walk in. The restaurant has a dark aesthetic that gives it such a cool, cozy ambiance. My daughter and I ordered the Dan Dan noodles and spicy wontons. Everything was so filling that we ended up ordering another bowl of the Dan Dan noodles! And honestly, I still crave them. The Dan Dan noodles were SO good. The sauce was the perfect combination of creamy and spicy, and there was a generous amount of minced pork that balanced everything out really well. The wontons paired perfectly with the chili sauce that came with them! They were spicy--my ears turned red and my nose started running--but I literally could not stop going back for another bite. Even the wontons alone were incredibly filling. I don't live anywhere near this place, and I genuinely wish I did. I traveled pretty far to get here, and I'd absolutely do it again. This was one of those meals that stays on your mind long after you've left!

From start to finish, I have absolutely no negative feedback at all. 1. The Food Everything we ordered was completely divine! Here's the rundown: -Sandwiches: My husband got a Bogan Bun. My son a Mumbo Bun chicken sandwich and listen, he didn't speak a single word the entire meal because he was enjoying it so much! I ordered the Lucky Bun made with an Impossible patty. It was everything! Best I've had at a restaurant! In fact, my son, who loves beef burgers and claims he doesn't like plant based meat, ended up eating the rest of my burger! He tore that plant based meat DOWN! -Thick cut chips & Queso: The waiter let us know that their portion of fries (chips) could easily feed 3 to 4 people. He was not lying at all. The three of us shared one basket. I don't know if the sandwiches or the fries stole the show. These fries were seasoned to absolute perfection!!! SERIOUSLY! Not the typical sprinkle on top, but seasoned on every single side like someone picked up each fry and hand sprinkled each fry. Think I'm fibbing look at my pic. We ordered a side of queso for dipping and it was so good I wish I had some right now. If you're reading, hear me out Lucky Bun....add tortilla chips and queso to the menu please!!!! I would buy it just to scoop up that delicious cheese. -The Garlic Aioli: why am I highlighting a condiment???? Because!! lol!! It wasn't just standard mayo mixed with garlic powder. You could tell someone actually finely minced fresh garlic and herbs into it. It was so good I couldn't decide whether to dip my fries in the aioli or the queso! So that's why it's in my review! 2. Service The service was exceptional. There was no wait time at all. We walked straight in and were seated immediately. The food came out extremely fast which surprised us since we all ordered completely different proteins. They were speedy but all of our food arrived perfectly warm. The host, a slim gentleman, and our waitress, a lovely young lady rockin locs, were both incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. I'm telling you good service makes the food even better! 3. Restaurant Look and Seating The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but they maximized the space with multiple tables and a full service bar. They also have outdoor dining and a front waiting area with outdoor furniture, which would be perfect for a nice summer day. You don't even have to ask me because you already know the answer. YES!!! The next time I am in DC, I will specifically make time to go there. Even if I'm not staying in the immediate area, I would gladly take an Uber just to eat here again and so will my family! Make sure you get there too!

The patty melt was perfectly cooked, juicy, and hit all the right spots, and those fries were crisp, seasoned just right, and seriously addictive. Service was great. Young bartender Noah with braids held it down. Young man was raised right! Go Commanders lol. Go Wizards! Restaurant was comfy, dark and chill. Inside and outside dining options. The mosquitoes aren't out yet so enjoy the patio. But honestly, the real star of the show, the one that truly stole my heart and taste buds, was the Antigua Bound drink. It was so good I had to get it twice! Seriously, this drink is a game-changer. It's got that perfect balance of refreshing and delicious that just makes you want to savor every sip. You know a drink is special when it outshines a stellar patty melt and fries, and the Antigua Bound definitely did that. Do yourself a favor and get to Lucky Buns DC (18th Street location) for some amazing food, and whatever you do, do NOT leave without trying the Antigua Bound. You'll thank me later! You're welcome!

Personally, I've visited Tryst more time than I can count, and at literally all time of the day. I've definitely taken full advantage of Tryst's extended hours to fuel many, many late-night study and work sessions. I love how cozy the space is, with their slightly worn but super comfy couches and armchairs, dim lighting, and ambient cafe music. The staff is super friendly; you can either order from the counter if you're taking your order to go or just snag a spot and wait for the servers to make their way to you.
