I am writing this with a broken heart as the Rosslyn Hot Lola's which is walking distance away from me is closing soon. THIS IS MY FAVORITE FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH JOINT The service is always immaculate. The ambiance is clean, modern and bussin' This time around I got Tender Loving because sometimes you just want to eat tenders. These TENDERS were tendering. They were the best. Eating them is better than making out with your partner. If you have one. The fries, the waffle fries are SOOOO ADDICTIVE! I am still sad though that the Rosslyn branch is closing but I am also glad for the Ballston one. 2025 took so much from us... But this is 5/5 call me biased I have 0 effs to give.

    Level 4 spicy

I've heard all the buzz about hot Lola's and I decided to give it a shot. As someone who's cried from Sichuan spice, I played it safe with a level 4 dry rub. I can tolerate a mild spicy, but 4 was definitely too mild for me. Number 6 (aka the OG) was the winner in terms of spice - not too spicy, not too mild! The waffle fries were a great addition as well as the pickles. Food came out relatively quick - great service! The price is a bit high but that's to be expected in ballston quarter. Lots of seating down at the food court depending on what time of day you go. There's lots of places to choose from at the food court, but hot Lola's is definitely tempting me to come back... dare I try the level 10 spicy! Would you dare?

I initially wanted to give this place one star because the chicken I was served was dry. This was my first visit and it happened to be Tender Tuesday, and I suspect that since it was Tender Tuesday, they were pre-making large batches of the tenders and waiting for customers to come in. Unfortunately, I happened to be one of those customers, and the tenders and bread that I received was completely dry and flavorless. However, I chose to give them a better rating because when I went back, they immediately re-cooked my new order of wings and replaced them without any complaints. I was very impressed with that level of service, especially since many people today don't admit to their mistakes. As for the chicken tenders, the new batch were juicy. However, my issue with them is that they definitely need sauce. You really can't eat them on their own. I'm not sure what's in the batter, but it makes me want to dip them in sauce.

Big portioned, fried chicken sandwiches seasoned for flavor and elevated by spice! Sharing space with a whole lot of unique eateries in this shopping center, Hot Lola's fried chicken sandwiches is a local favorite as you'll see plenty of folks visit their electronic kiosk to order their signature chicken. If you're a spice seeker, this is the place to go to test your tastebuds as their various levels of spice all consist of a unique blend of peppers, chilis and even curry. For the ones seeking more of a mild experience, their Shy Guy spice level has all the flavor without the heat. If you do end up getting spooked by the spice, grab one of their ice cool lemonades which are tremendous thirst quenchers. They have free refills so you won't need to pace yourself when it comes to these, although, you may want to in case of the sugar content. They aren't too sweet - among all the flavors we tried (strawberry watermelon, blackberry, and yuzu), the strawberry watermelon tasted the least sweet but my favorite was the blackberry with its great balance of tartness and sweetness. Upon placing our order, we ventured around to find a spot to sit. The dining room is a shared space with all the eateries here and can be seen filled with patrons of all ages. Tables were plentiful and the bathrooms were just around the corner. It was super convenient and a well ventilated place to eat. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be ready and the staff were great about packing up the drinks in a carrier for us. They were friendly despite the lunch rush. We ended up ordering a shy guy and an OG, and they were both packaged nicely in a paper box in the event that you can't finish and need to pack it up for later. The sandwiches are big and meaty enough to definitely fill you up by the half way point! Each bite into the chicken was met with a crunch and then the juicy center, and the zing of the spice (if you had any) which may linger for a bit. The OG spice was just right for me; I'm not sure if I could handle any of their higher spiced chicken without hurting! Paired with a pile of waffle fries, this meal was hearty yet didn't feel too indulgent despite everything coming from a fryer. The sandwich had a good mix of ingredients including vegetables and sauces to freshen up the meal. Overall, Hot Lola's does a fine job with their fried chicken sandwiches and all that complements them in a meal. The unique spice mix found in their shy guy and spice levels above is certainly worth a try. The price point is reasonable given the location, quality and quantity. The common dining space can be overwhelming with the hustle and bustle of all walks of life but it does give off a lively energy as you chomp down your food. And to top things off, this shared space is home to a variety of dessert and drink shops - perfect to cap off a quick meal, that is, if you still have room in your stomach for it!

I was hungry but not up to a full sandwich so I ordered a "tender dog" and was surprised by how big it was! For only $8 you get a sizeable chicken tender sandwich, complete with coleslaw, sauce, and pickles. It was the perfect size for how hungry I was and moreover it was really good! I went with the shy guy level or spice which is accurately described as flavor more than spice, but it did have a little heat which I appreciated. The tender itself was big, juicy, and well fried - not too much batter and not soggy or burnt. Overall I was impressed and will be back to try an even bigger sandwich!

I went to Hot Lola's for a quick lunch, and was so pleased with this meal. I got the chicken with flavor but no spice (the chart is great for figuring out what you want). The chicken was super crispy, delicious, and piping hot. The fries were also great- they were waffle fries, possibly beer battered and also really crispy. It came with a sauce which complemented the chicken perfectly. I'll definitely return!

So I have been hearing about this spot from both friends and co-workers for the longest time now. I decided to give it a try and man oh man was I in for a treat! I ordered the hot lola's chicken sandwich with waffle fries, a yuzu lemonade, and the spice level that I chose was 'OG HOT'. The spice level was just right and not too spicy (more detail on this later). This location is in the middle of a mall eatery, so the ambiance is very hustle and bustling. You order from touch screens and once your order is done and paid for, the staff works their magic. A few minutes later, my meal was called out by my name! The yuzu lemonade was delicious! Super refreshing and it had a natural feel/taste to it. The fries were golden crispy and coupled with the ketchup they had a nice rich and soothing feel with each and every bite! Yum! The chicken sandwich was comforting and juicy! The heat, coupled with the slaw and brioche bun! My goodness! Do not get me started! This meal was so delicious and also filling! Check this place out! Cheers to good eats!

I was feeling lazy to either cook or go out to eat. So I decided to check for fast food options via DoorDash app. I found Hot Lola's as one of the most highly recommended in my area. I love spicy food. I ordered Nashville hot chicken sandwich with waffle fries. This was my first time trying waffle fries from anywhere other than chick-fil-A. I was very impressed by the quality of food. Nashville hot chicken had the right amount of spiciness to it. Bun was so good. I think it's a potato based bun. Very delicious.

Every time I read a review for any local hot chicken joint there's a review indicating Hot Lola's is the best in NOVA. While I wasn't able to conduct a true side by side comparison but have a few notes: Customers have to order at a kiosk, but the kiosk will only let you make one modification. The chicken is a decent size and was juicy. However I ordered a Lola's sando (no spice) and that was a mistake. The outside breading had no seasoning (not even salt) and the only flavor on the sandwich was from the comeback sauce. My husband ordered the Seoul King sandwich and it was much better than the non-spicy Lola's sando! The sauce was tasty, but my husband said there was a bit too much of it. Maybe it was the under seasoned chicken, but I don't consider Hot Lola's to be the best.

    Chicken wings. SO CRISPY!

Unfortunately, Hot Lola's isn't in DC and I don't often get to the burbs, so I haven't had it in a looong time. I decided to order it for delivery during lunch and it was a reminder for me to get it more often! Juicy juicy juicy YUM! While I enjoy hot chicken sammies, I still prefer to just get wings and theirs don't disappoint. They're sooo crispy and juicy. I got the OG spicy level and that was a good spice level to enjoy it and not be in pain (I enjoy Thai chilis for spicy level reference lol). Despite being delivered, it wasn't soggy and I was in crunch town. Now what surprised me most were the chicken tenders. I'm not a chicken tenders guy, but these were juicy af! Just as crispy as the wings, and perhaps the only time I enjoyed chicken tenders a tad bit more than the wings. As for the fries, can't go wrong with seasoned waffle fries! I ate them all in one sitting and I have zero regrets

    Chicken sandwich

Such a yummy spicy chicken sandwich!!! It was actually huge. I got a combo with fries & fountain soda but the waffle fries were kinda lame. The sauce that came on the side was delicious though.

Seoul King, fries, and ginger pear drink
    Ellie D.

I came to the mall for something else and had to wait for a while so decided to grab lunch. I was feeling a spicy chicken sandwich but didn't want Chick-fil-A. Google led me to Hot Lola's and the "discovery" of this awesome food court I never knew existed. While my experience at Hot Lola's was average at best, I do look forward to coming back to try the other restaurants if. Ever in the area. What I got: Seoul King - 3* the chicken is huge and I loved how big & fluffy the bun was, but that was about it for this sandwich. The flavor wasn't anything praiseworthy and the chicken, while moist, was also occasionally stringy which was off-putting to me. Ginger pear drink - 3* it's not bad it's just disappointing. Very pear-y, barely any ginger, and basically sugar water. It's located in a self-serve container outside the vendor and they have a syrup you can pump into it. Fries - 3* waffle fries and crispy. A little more greasy than I wanted. There were also a couple of big clumps where the fries had all stuck together. I ended up throwing away about half the fries because it just wasn't worth the effort (nor was I enjoying them that much) to eat.

The Italian Store has so many Italian subs to choose from, but I went with the Milano, their most popular sub. The combination of the sweet and spicy peppers really made this sandwich stand out. There was just the right balance of flavors, and I can definitely see why it's one of their most popular choices. A heads-up when ordering: They typically have several sandwiches pre-made and ready to go, but if you want something made fresh to order, you'll need to order by phone or online. At least at the Lyon Village location, you can't order a made-to-order sandwich directly at the counter. So if you have your heart set on a freshly made sub, plan ahead! Of course, no Italian sub is complete without chips. They carry Route 11, a Virginia-based chip company, and they had several varieties available: lightly salted, dill pickle, Chesapeake Crab, Mama Zuma's Revenge, and salt & pepper. I went with the lightly salted, which was the perfect pairing with my Milano. Unfortunately, the Lyon Village location doesn't have fresh gelato, so I had to settle for the pre-packaged variety. I went with the caramel gelato, and it was delicious! It wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated, although it was a little on the expensive side. The store was pretty busy when I stopped in, with several people inside and a few others enjoying the outdoor tables. They also sell pizza by the slice, or you can order a whole pizza to take home. I saw several people leaving with whole pizzas, so clearly I need to add that to my next visit. Between the Milano, Route 11 chips, and caramel gelato, this was a fantastic first experience. Definitely coming back -- next time, I'm trying the pizza!
