My family and I have been fans of the Wynnewood, PA Yapple Yogurt since it opened. However, in the past several weeks it has taken a serious downward turn. The yogurt flavor selection is often empty and the grills that catch the yogurt overflow are dirty. The topping containers are also often empty. The fruit toppings have drippings all around them and maybe will contain one left over blueberry or piece of pineapple. The napkin dispenser was completely empty the last two times we were there and there were no cups for water. Today, 6/17/13, the person behind the counter, who said he was the manager, was behind the closed door with five customers waiting in line to pay. When he did come out, he was on his cell phone and did not come off of it while customers were attempting to pay. The music was playing excruciatingly loud making it impossible to talk or hear anything else. There were four or five young teens sitting at tables when we came in with nothing in front of them the entire time, taking up table space and using the table tops as drums so that customers couldn't sit down and eat. Is this now the new local hang-out? One customer was so frustrated that she ate her yogurt while waiting in line. As if all of this is not bad enough, the rest room was filthy and had no toilet paper or paper towels. With all the competition in this marketplace today, it's disappointing to see a business that has been so successful go downhill. read more

Went here today for some froyo after a few hours running errands. There are a variety of different flavors, pending they aren't out, so that was good to see. But I'm all about customer service and the environment...which is why 3 stars were lost. The girl at the register never acknowledged our presence and was on her phone the entire time (even while checking out). She did put it down for a few seconds, but someone started calling her again which distracted her from our order. Needless to say, she never made eye contact with me or even asked "how are you doing?" Just simple things. Oh, and the store for some reason was warm inside...weird for a frozen yogurt place. read more

Very small seating area with white furniture that looks like it has either been there too long, or isn't properly cleaned each day. Small selection of flavors, but all were very good. Particularly enjoyed the tart. Nice selection of toppings and drizzles, but poorly maintained and could really use a wipe down. My biggest issue was at the register. During a lull in check out, the young girl working the cash register replenished the spoons bare handed and without regard to placing the spoons eating side down. This is gross... all those little kids fishing with their dirty hands for the perfect spoon, and whatever may have been on the cashier's hand from handling money. Amazzzzzzing. The Salted Caramel Pretzel froyo is to die for!!.. It was worth every bit of that $6 I spent on it!

Wide variety of low fat and regular yogurts ranging from original tart, caramel salted pretzel, expresso, birthday cake and the usual suspects - vanilla and chocolate. The mango orange sorbet is different and yummy. The topping bar has over 20 varieties of gummies, candies, nuts and syrups. A nice hangout place during summer. It can get $$$ very quickly as everything is sold by weight! read more

I was excited to have a yogurt shop in the area. It was good, although not as good as what I've had at other yogurt shops in other locations. LOTS of topping options and yogurt flavors. The biggest turnoff for me was that the organization in this place is non-existent. I don't know if there just weren't enough workers in there, or if it was poorly set up or just too many people, but it felt overwhelming chaotic. read more

I was happy to see a non-dairy choice here! They have some good topping choices from Oreos to mochi! Their prices are pretty affordable compared with the prices downtown and I thought the stuff tasted pretty good too. First warm days of Spring... and a great excuse to return to Yapple. By now, they've implemented all of the suggestions that yelpers and other customers have made (sample cups, better organization, frequent eater card) and have added a flavor so great that I had to update my review... Snickerdoodle! The Snickerdoodle fro yo tastes just like the cookie and is an awesome summertime treat. It's now part of my regular rotation at Yapple, along with original tart, dark chocolate and espresso. read more

yapple is still great!! with all the new froyo places opening up on the main line, this one will still be my favorite. the levers have loosened, and the kinks are being worked out. there are jillions of toppings and a rotation of flavors. i have friends who live in center city who drive here to get a treat because its so amazing. beware though, it gets sooooo busy at certain times of day its super crowded and hard to get in/find a place to sit/get out. i went today and was the only one in the shop! i also got a frequent buyer pass, scan it every time and once you hit 90 oz, you get 10oz free!!!!! keep up the good work yap. read more

I love Yapple Yogurt in theory. My husband, on the other hand, refuses to go there (more on that later). I love the flavors (they have the best chocolate sorbet, hands down, of any of the local fro-yo places), and I like the happy, neon-pastel decor. My kids love it, and my youngest child is addicted to it. I probably took my kids to YY once or twice a week this past summer. I wish it weren't so conveniently located. I wrote a review of YY last year, to which the owners responded, which was great. They did institute a frequent buyer card system, and they can accommodate my peanut-allergic daughter by giving her toppings from the back room that haven't been exposed to the possibly cross-contaminated ones at the toppings bar. They did not implement my suggestion of providing a scale somewhere along the self-serve line so customers can gauge just how costly their dessert concoction is going to be before they end up at the register (and gawk at their daughter's $8 mountainous glob of gooey mess), but it seems none of the fro-yo places provide such a scale (I'm not an idiot, I know why...). Despite the improvements, YY can be incredibly annoying to frequent, especially in the summer when all the Main Line teens hang out there. And, they have these strange big, deep white seats that look cool but are hard and uncomfortable (and difficult for little kids to sit in). But I do like their cool ceiling light that changes colors. You know how I wrote they implemented a frequent buyer card program? Well, they shouldn't have. When they first offered the card, a few months after they opened, I was so happy because you could attach the little plastic card to your keychain, which I immediately did. The frequent buyer card would be a great if it actually worked. Every time I have given the cashier my card, she'd never knows how many points I have accumulated. She looks blankly at the computer screen and says "I don't know." And, the cashiers never ask if I have the card when I'm checking out, so it's like they don't really want me to have one. Oh, and they can't credit customers the points after they've bought their yogurt, so if you have your card with you but forget to pull it out until after you've paid, then you're out of luck. They say if you keep your receipt they can credit you when you return. I haven't tried it. Supposedly, you're supposed to earn a certain number of free ounces after you've bought 100 ounces (1 ounce = 1 point). With my family of six, that isn't hard to do. But after about 5 visits where I had given them my card and assumed I was being credited, when I finally asked how many points I had because I must be getting close, the staff person said, oh, it looks like you have about 5 points. I told her that was impossible because I've been buying about 15-25 ounces each of the past 5 visits. She noticed that I had transactions that showed I had bought that many ounces, but they were never credited towards my free yogurt. So there you go. Useless. She said it must be a defective card and gave me a new one. Well thanks a lot. My husband refuses to go to YY because he hates the decor and teen crowds. It's too loud and he doesn't like neon green as much as I do. He much prefers Kiwi Yogurt in Haverford, which is where we usually end up going these days. They don't have a computerized frequent buyer system, just the good old punch card, which works amazingly well. read more

I'm not quite sure what's feeding this frenzy of excitement among reviewers (friends/family of the owner perhaps?). This is a solid frozen yogurt place, but does not really do anything to differentiate itself from the myriad other frozen yogurt places that are popping up all over the place. Same sort of setup you see everywhere else -- a bank of frozen yogurt machines with various flavors and a buffet of add-ons and toppings. Same high prices for what you get. Frozen yogurt doesn't taste as good as ice cream or gelato but costs just as much or more. Somehow, it's gotten itself marketed as a "healthier" alternative even though the unhealthiest component of ice cream (sugar) is not reduced in frozen yogurt. read more

Now there is two left and Top This is for peasants so I have to root for Yapple. I even made a slogan that they can use to attract customers. This place is a real rip-off!! Yogurt is mediocre and toppings are fine except that after you add a few toppings and a small amount of yogurt you have a very heavy dish that costs more than you expected because they charge by the ounce!! I won't return to this store. read more

I don't mind the high prices, but this is now the third time that their allotment of fruit toppings is shameful. 6 remaining rotted blueberries all mushy. no strawberries except day old rotting remnants. of course the other non-fruit toppings are over flowing. Honestly, the main downside to Yapple Yogurt is that it's just not as good as Kiwi Yogurt in Haverford. Being from California and growing up with frozen yogurt everywhere, I'm very picky about my froyo, and this place is very good but not great. It's the same price as Kiwi Yogurt (a whopping 49 cents an ounce, which seems to be standard for the area), but the quality of the yogurt just isn't as creamy and delicious as Kiwi's. Add to that a smaller selection of flavors and toppings, and I'm usually going to opt to drive the 2 miles to Kiwi. However, Yapple sends out 20% off coupons on a fairly regular basis, and it is enough of a tasty treat for me to stop in any time I see one of those! As an almost-daily yogurt consumer, I would also love to see a frequent buyer punch card. read more

Management knows little about their product and less about customer service. Sure the yogurt is tasty, but... I inquired about whether the sorbet is "non dairy" as I have a severely allergic child. The person I spoke with checked with someone in the back and told me that it was "FDA Certified as dairy free." After my child ate it he had a severe allergic reaction. I called the store to inquire about the ingredients. When I called, the first thing that I was asked was whether I had spoken with a manager--as if that mattered. Then I requested that the person I was speaking with--the manager--check the ingredients. Lo and behold, the "dairy free" chocolate sorbet contained skim milk. Not quite dairy free. Well, while my child was having an itchy throat and difficulty swallowing, the "manager" apologized. When I suggested that he should be more familiar with his product and that under the circumstances his apology was underwhelming, he responded that there was really nothing more he could do--and that was that. The response--especially in a retail setting--and especially when the mistake is clear--and especially when someone's health has been endangered by thetheir ineptitude --that there is "nothing more I can do" seems to me to be woefully inadequate. Don't care how tasty the yogurt might be, we won't be going back...And given the magnitude of their error and the failure to appreciate that, it behooves their clientele to think twice about patronizing a food service establishment that seems not to grasp or take seriously issues relating to the health of their customers... PS to those with comments about the allergists across the street, or with opinions about parenting skills...this post was about management's response to a problem. Even if the problem is created by the customer (and anyone with a reasonable amount of insight would know that this is not the case here), it is management's job to address that problem in an effective fashion. read more

The yogurt it amazing, fruit is fresh, good staff, but one problem. When I walked in, the place was packed and there were billions of children. So as a result there is kids putting there fingers up the yogurt suspencers which is extremely disgusting. I was very disapointed when I could not get the flavor I wanted because of that. read more

Yapple Yogurt hits the spot on a hot day. Enjoyed sampling their wide variety of flavors. Agree with a previous review about adding banana as a possible new flavor - think it would be popular. My only complaint is the way in which people and children handle the dispensing machines should be addressed. Near the beginning of the line there is a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer, and on a busy day I did not see one person use it. Perhaps if there was a sign to "please cleans hands first," along with a LARGE bottle of sanitizer that is easily seen, this would help. Additionally I don't feel very young children should be getting yogurt themselves. An additional sign perhaps stating "must be over 10 yrs. old to operate" or whatever would be nice. The little ones literally have their hands all over the place, and that is neither sanitary nor appetizing. Additionally the cashier was eating yogurt herself while checking people out. Not a good idea, and am sure that shouldn't be permitted. read more

I would personally say Yapple Yogurt is an okay yogurt place. That being said, I like Yapple due to the fun and different flavors and also topping choices are a good selection (Mochi, real cookie dough, and more). Parking is easy, and service is pretty quick. I would not give it full stars because I've gone in multiple times when the store is not clean, toppings are messy, chairs/table is not wiped down and cleaned. I would also say the workers are alright I've experienced some very nice employees and others not so much. I would recommend to others but don't expect the store to be super clean. read more

Healthy Frozen Yogurt ! Most of the frozen yogurt is gluten free if it has gluten it is definetly labeled here so its definetly not a concern for those that have gluten allergies. I found that alone to be incredibly impressive. There flavors were impressive. There toppings bar had fruit and other goodies. I saw banana, kiwi, strawberry, blackberries, maraschino cherries & they had cookie dough, white choc macadamia cookie dough, chocolate sprinkles, crunch, heath, & reese's pieces to sprinkle in... Just to name a few !!! Everything is well stocked. The only reason why I knocked off a star is because the seating area didn't look to clean & looked like things could have been wiped down. But, I honestly can't complain and I will definetly be back. I think I just might have found my new summer ice cream spot. The frozen yogurt also has healthy probiotics in it !!! With a proliferation of quality yogurt places in and around the Main Line area, I have to say Yapple, in Wymewood, does not measure up. First of all, despite posted hours, they are not open on time. Second, don't plan on having Yogurt when they "open" because you will be told, as we were, "there is no yogurt now." Top This n Narberth, along with others nearby, are so much better, not as loud, better staff and much better management. read more
