I was so impressed with Milk Jawn! We visited on a Saturday afternoon, when they weren't too busy. Immediately, I was obsessed with the flavor selection and needed at least 4 samples. My friend and I decided on the Earl Grey with Honeycomb and Lemon Curd with Blueberry Basil Swirl (although the Key Lime Pie was also fantastic). Both of these were awesome! The workers were very nice and accommodating, gave us tons of samples so we knew which to get. I got the vegan mint stracciatella which was a perfect thick texture and mint flavor. There are several excellent small batch ice cream makers around Philadelphia and Milk Jawn is one of the best. Their newest micro shop is on North 2 Street in Northern Liberties. It is next door to Pera Turkish Cuisine, making for a terrific 1-2 punch for a meal and dessert. That is how we planned it. After a delicious late lunch of roast lamb and gyro platter, we ambled next door for a cool ice cream. We were able to taste samples of the flavors that appealed to us with those tiny wooden spoons about the size of my thumb. Ultimately, I chose their Cookie Butter and ended up taking a pint home for the family. It was a creamy vanilla base with a mix of Bischoff's cinnamon cookie dough and a crispy crumble of same laced throughout. Absolutely loved it, as did everyone who tried it at home. The $12 price reminded of the cost of food inflation across the economy, but was still worth the splurge; even if such things will be happening less frequently until we come to our senses. Went there around 615 pm and worker there was extremely rude. I tried mint and asked to try the vanilla flavor. He said I just basically the tried the vanilla flavor and didn't let me try it. Obviously mint and vanilla are different flavors. He then impatiently asked if I was ready. I haven't encountered this at any other ice cream place. While the ice cream is great, I'm disappointed that they would hire someone like this. read more
