    pistachio ice cream
    Kaitlin L.

Wow. It was my first time here but after trying a few flavors, I knew it was too good not to get a pint. I tried the pistachio and the strawberry rhubarb crumble and they were both phenomenal but the pistachio BLEW me away. What I noticed right away was that the ice cream was not outwardly green, I knew immediately that they invest heavily in natural flavors and it shows. From the creaminess of the ice cream, to the authenticity of the flavor, just the right amount of sweetness and a heck of a lot of pistachios mixed in, this may be the best pistachio ice cream I've ever had. Super nice staff as well! Would definitely come back.

Philadelphia has a lot of good ice cream. BUT if you want great hard ice cream it has to be milk jawn all the way. It's just so good every time. The staff is also great and doesn't make you feel like asking for a sample is annoying.

Their mint chocolate chip ice cream is to DIE for!!!! I come here semi-regularly, and the last few times they've definitely come down on cone quality. It wasn't crisp, it tasted like it was a few days old. If you tried to break it, it smooshes instead of breaking off. Pretty disappointing. The ice cream itself HITS though

cute ice cream shop with bright spunky colors and fun ice cream flavors! my friend and i stopped by for a post-dinner sweet treat and absolutely loved the ice cream. i've been wanting to check out this place for a while, i'm always tempted by the booth at rittenhouse square farmer's market. i had the key lime pie ice cream flavor which was delicious! i really enjoyed the graham chunks which added the perfect amount of crunch. my friend ordered the lemon curd with blueberry basil swirl which she has been raving about since. the workers were super helpful and friendly with letting us sample flavors. can't wait to go back to try the other flavors!

There are several excellent small batch ice cream makers around Philadelphia and Milk Jawn is one of the best. Their newest micro shop is on North 2 Street in Northern Liberties. It is next door to Pera Turkish Cuisine, making for a terrific 1-2 punch for a meal and dessert. That is how we planned it. After a delicious late lunch of roast lamb and gyro platter, we ambled next door for a cool ice cream. We were able to taste samples of the flavors that appealed to us with those tiny wooden spoons about the size of my thumb. Ultimately, I chose their Cookie Butter and ended up taking a pint home for the family. It was a creamy vanilla base with a mix of Bischoff's cinnamon cookie dough and a crispy crumble of same laced throughout. Absolutely loved it, as did everyone who tried it at home. The $12 price reminded of the cost of food inflation across the economy, but was still worth the splurge; even if such things will be happening less frequently until we come to our senses. That's not on Milk Jawn or the other screamers, but it may land on their bottom line. 5 Creamy Stars

I had heard amazing things about Milk Jawn and have been curious to try for awhile. I'm so glad I found time to try this spot. They allowed us to try a few different flavors before making a decision. I got their Lemon curd with blueberry basil swirl and it was the perfect amount of sweet and sour. I would definitely come back!

The ear grey honey comb and the toffee crunch whatever that one is was the best flavor combos!!!! So good

The most divine ice cream! Milk Jawn is a must-visit! I've been a fan of Milk Jawn for years, and their new NoLibs location doesn't disappoint! Their unique ice cream flavors are all delightfully creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. The Malted Milk Toffee Crunch I ordered was simply incredible--imagine a smooth, malted base with crunchy toffee pieces that add a perfect blend of texture and flavor. TL;DR: Absolutely worth it! Try the Malted Milk Toffee Crunch!

Milk Jawn just opened a location is Northern Liberties. It was pretty cool to see the same friendly ice cream flavors like in their south Philly location. Just like the other Milk Jawn this place has a nice store front to buy your ice cream loving friend a special treat that isn't ice cream. There is a nice long window to sit at to enjoy the view of northern liberties as well. Ended up getting the birthday cake which tasted authentic to its natural taste.

Pistachio (9.1/10) and early grey with honeycomb (10/10)

Whole place smells like fresh made waffle cones Early grey with honeycomb is probably the single best scoop of ice cream I've ever had This place rocks

So glad to have this open up. Tried 4 flavors - pistachio, vanilla, strawberry rhubarb and chocolate. All the flavors were great and I super duper loved Pistachio. Coming back for it!!! Single $5.50 and Double $8.50. The scoops are really big.

For a limited time, they have a "Biscuits with the Boss" flavor as a collab with Ted Lasso. I was feeling something fruity so I went with Watermelon Taffy and Goat Cheese with Red Cherries. The half scoop needs to be a thing at more ice cream shops because it is the PERFECT portion! I loved that I could try two flavors without feeling stuffed. Goat Cheese with Red Cherries - very rich and creamy with just enough of the tart cherry to balance out the goat cheese. Watermelon Taffy - almost like a sorbet with watermelon flavor. So refreshing! The little waffle cone piece on the side was a great way to add crunchiness. Every flavor at Jeni's is so fun and interesting. I can't wait to stop in again!

I sampled five flavors and my top three were the Hibiscus Chili Punch, Summer Berries + Passion fruit, and the Watermelon Taffy. The staff member that helped us was very kind, informative, and enthusiastic. He was very open about the flavors and was not shy to tell us what might be too sweet. I wish we came earlier in the day because we got there 30 minutes before closing and they were already in the process of cleaning up. The store still had a super cute color theme going on and it was very clean. We sat at the window barstools while we finished out single scoop. One unique thing about Jeni's is that they serve each flavor by the half scoop, so one scoop automatically defaults to two different flavors!

The restaurant has a great two-level layout: a bustling coffee bar and small Italian market on the lower level, and a wine bar restaurant upstairs. It was a beautiful day, so outdoor seating was available, but after the hostess explained that the full menu is served on both levels, we opted to sit upstairs in the wine bar. Our server was fantastic--friendly, immediate, and quick to offer sparkling or tap water while handing us all the options. They offer a main lunch menu, a specials menu, and a great lunchtime deal with a limited $20 per person fixed menu. We started by sharing the mussels in a white garlic sauce. They were delicious, and the table bread dipped into the leftover garlic juices was absolutely delightful! For our main courses, my daughter got the spaghetti carbonara, and I ordered the chitarra pasta with red chili. Both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente and came in very satisfying portion sizes. My daughter's carbonara was even served with a savory bacon-flavored gelato on top! My only minor critique of my dish was that the pork was a bit fattier than I prefer and wasn't cooked as crisp as I'd like, but the flavor was still great. We couldn't leave without dessert, so we both got gelato. I had the amaretto and salted caramel, while my daughter went with dark chocolate and salted caramel. Both were insanely good--super creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Overall, the bill was surprisingly reasonable given how much quality food we enjoyed. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu, but especially for that unbelievable gelato!
