Dr. Johnson visited with us about the diagnosis and available care. She was helpful and assisted with our goodbyes. Our pets are our family like in most other homes. Our pup will be missed. A surprisingly good first visit! We recently moved to Amarillo from Dallas and the hardest thing to do was find someone we could trust with our 3 dogs. The other day, my oldest pup started whimpering in pain for no apparent reason. She seemed very stiff and wouldn't eat or go outside with the other dogs. I started to get worried and asked a neighbor about what vet he takes his dogs to. He recommended Dr. Yarbrough and gave us his number. We called and 15 minutes later, we were signing in at the clinic. There were a lot of other people there, but believe it or not, this place is fast! This is probably the most efficient doctor I've ever seen at work. We had 3 people ahead of us and they were in and out in no time! We walked in with no appointment and waited for about 15 minutes before they called us in. I told Dr. Yarbrough about her symptoms and he immediately took her temperature, determined she had a fever because of an infection, and gave her two shots and prescribed some medicine. We were out of there in half an hour! The exam is $45. The shots and the medicine were a bit pricey and costed $100. Still, it's been three days later and my dog has fully recovered. She's back to her old self! They don't charge for "re-checks" so if her symptoms develop again, we can bring her back in for FREE. It was a great experience from the initial phone call to the moment we paid the bill. My dog is healthy again and we're happier for it. read more

My Husband and I just got a 7 week old chocolate lab. We took her to see the bet the day after bringing her home. She has had *a lot* of ticks and licking at her pee pee area. I told the vet what was going on. I was unaware of what a first puppy exam should look like, but knew it wasn't right by how quickly the vet came and went. The tech was nice... Took my dogs temperature. The vet failed to tell me to bring a stool sample (or, lady who made the appointment for me). She also did NOT thoroughly look at my sweet puppy. A quick two minutes in the room, a hand shake, and a few words that seemed like she was in a hurry is all I got. No ear exam, no check for worms, no checking out her skin for harmful ticks. She advised me to just keep pulling them off. My puppy is also still licking at her peepee. The vet said this could just be because of the ticks. She prescribed amoxicillin but it hasn't done anything for my poor baby. A few days later the ticks are still there. Now, I am finding larger tan ones on my puppy. She's still itching biting and licking. I'm aware my pup can't be without problems but after researching and reading about a puppies first exam I am aware that the vet didn't do her job. Next week I will be going to animal medical center for undevided attention and care, even if their busy. read more

Dr Wendi is so caring and knowledgeable. She and the staff do a great job and I'd never use any other Vet.

Currently under review from the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for malpractice which ended up killing our dog. Some staff can be rude and twisted and was called a liar by the doctor himself. Have nothing redeeming to say about this practice. Beware leaving your animals in their care. I learned this the hard way twice. read more

I called to question a charge for the $50 office visit since my dog only received one shot and heart worm meds for 6 months. The total was $114.00. I told David who worked there that I would possibly shop around for next year since I thought it was kind of steep. He rudely replied with, "Do you want me just to take him off the records?" I told him no since I might need them if he gets groomed and that I didn't appreciate his reply. He told me the $50 was to keep the shots low and that's the way it was all over town. I didn't mind paying it. I just didn't like the attitude. I will shop for a new vet and at this point I don't really care if it costs more. Thanks David another unsattisfied customer I'm sure for you. Bottom line, other people probably care more about your pets than this place. Customer service sure can take your business a long way is the lesson learned here. I am very suspicious of the negative reviews since one is a duplicate. I have been going to Yarbrough and then to Dr. Wendi for a loooong time with many different 4 legged children. I have never met a more caring, compassionate and knowledgeable vet as Dr. Wendi. We had to put down a dog which was more like a child to us than a pet. Dr. Wendi got down in the floor with us covered her with a blanket before starting the procedure. I saw tears running down Dr. Wendi face and knew she cared as much as we did. We have NEVER felt rushed but rather the opposite. I have recommended her to many people and they all have had great experiences with her. read more

Dr Yarbrough and Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and understanding in squeezing us in at the last minute. I had found a one week old kitten, and had started taking him to Dr Yarbrough, rather than my normal vet. The kitten and I would go there at least once a week because he was always sick-eye infection, ear infection, vomiting, diarrhea, not eating, not gaining weight, etc. All we had to do was call, and they squeezed us into their busy schedule at the last minute. From now on, I am bringing my other 4 "kids" to him for future prevention. His Staff and him are very professional and their prices are way better than other vet clinics in the area. And, for having to go see him once a week, low cost office visits and meds come in handy. I recommend him to anyone I know and/or am acquainted with. read more

We have been taking our pets to Yarbrough Vet Clinic since 1995 (first Dr. Yarbrough & now Dr. Johnson). Our fur babies have always received fantastic care. Most recently we had to make the difficult decision to let our beloved dog go after an injury from which he would not recover. Dr. Johnson was kind, compassionate and upfront about his condition. She and her staff truly loved him, almost as much as we do, and they demonstrated this during every visit. We will be using them again in the future. read more

This office is great to work with and Dr. Johnson has been great in treating all my dogs. The dogs have not fussed at all every time I have taken them. Dr. Johnson was so kind when it came time to put one of them down due to an inoperable liver tumor. I had an emergency with another on Thanksgiving eve last year, and despite having a full day of surgeries scheduled Dr. Johnson worked him in and took the time to explain everything. It was well after 6:00 PM before we left the office that day. Can't thank them enough! read more

I have taken my dogs to Yarborough Veterinary Clinic for approximately 5 years. Dr. Johnson has always treated them with competence and compassion. She has treated several of my pets since they were 6 weeks old. As a result she has learned each pets specific health issues and struggles. During a recent crisis with my dog I was very disappointed that she was unable to provide follow up treatment as recommended by the vet that I took my dog to at an emergency clinic over the weekend, as Yarborough clinic was closed. Given that she knows my pet and his specific struggles I hoped and expected to be able to work with her to take care of him in a manner that was best for my dog and the clinic. After my unsuccessful attempts to clarify my concerns with her staff Dr. Johnson spoke with me on the phone. I was very grateful and relived to be able to speak directly to her, believing that as the person who knew my dog best she would understand my fears and desperate need for follow up care. Instead my dogs needs were dismissed and I was told that in taking the time to speak with me I was taking time away from other from animals that needed her attention. To her credit, she did not say I was wasting her time, only that speaking to me took time away from others. Dr. Johnson appears to have such a busy practice that accommodating individual needs is not possible. My need for timely follow up care could not be accommodated. I have therefore chosen to leave her practice and accept her referral to another vet. I am now receiving services from a practice with multiple vets on staff who immediately responded to my request for immediate care. I am saddened to leave the dr who has known my dog almost since birth. But despite that history with him, his need for immediate care was not honored. read more
