Frankly, they are the best vet I have ever been to. Sadly we have moved away. When we first got to Amarillo from Colorado we found a dog roaming around our neighborhood, we took him in to see if he was chipped. He wasn't.... beautiful young Great Dane, anyway they looked him over and he was in great shape and we found him a good home. They did'nt charge me a dime. Turns out Amarillo has a problem with spaying and neutering its pets. I would see a lot of abandoned dogs and stray cats all of the time. Sad. If you get to the Vet early you can get right in, but there usually is a line. You get the feeling the staff is underpaid and overworked but it is a kind of God's work. I wish them the best and hopefully, they will be around for many years to come. They truly give hope to the animals in the area. By the way, thanks for the free cat Bix, we renamed him Milo. Our 17 year old cat suddenly could not walk & was peeing on herself. We were able to get an appointment the next day. The vet & the entire staff was professional and kind. The vet went over the costs of all the testing. We controlled how much we spent. The cat had several issues that needed to be addressed. The cat is home & doing better. All I can say is genuine life savers. I was involved in a head on collision from a sleepy driver, with my fur baby in the truck with me last year. She was rushed to them, while I was air lifted to a hospital. They took the best care of her for 3 days, updating me through out the day on her condition and care. She had around the clock care, and they treated my dog like one of their own. She had slight internal damage and was kept a close eye on. Before they sent her home with me, she was given last ultrasounds to insure she was stable enough to make it back home to a local vet. If I was from Amarillo, I would not go anywhere else. When something is right, you just know it. The same goes if something is not right. When I was discussing any problems that Sasha may have been having, the doctor made me feel at ease and took my concerns seriously. when the vet had to take Sasha to another room and then returned after blood work was taken, Sasha was not in any distress whatsoever! Hope Vet is amazing!! They are always available for our 6 dogs when we need them. They are friendly, and very good at what they do. Sarah Faulkner goes above and beyond by allowing us to come in before and after hours, even going as far as to giving us her personal number to make sure our pets are taken care of. We love them!! Headed X-country with the dog who developed kennel cough and was suffering. Pulled in here without an appointment, and they saw the dog in about 45 minutes even though the place was crowded. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The dog received a full exam, was given a couple of shots for the cough and a whole regimen of medications, pre-cut, for a week. Dog promptly got completely better. Entire show-full examination, shots and all the pills cost a grand total of $78 bucks and the dog feels great!! Best vet she has ever been to. Don't know if you are going to Amarillo as it is a bit remote, but if you do and need a vet, even without an appointment in an emergency, GO HERE. read more

My brother took his 11 year old dog to Cadillac after she stopped eating and began throwing up. They kept his dog for 6 days, and could not find an issue. My brother picked up his dog on a Monday, and she has lost weight, had foam around her mouth, and had been laying in her own urine. He took his dog, who still would not eat, to an emergency vet, who did one x-ray and found a large cancer mass. He had to put his dog to sleep on Thursday morning. The time she spent being neglected at Cadillac/Hope was crazy. It took three days for the emergency vet to receive her records from Cadillac/Hope. My brother asked for an itemized bill twice and still does not have one, even though he paid $1,200. I called and asked to speak with the owner, and they took a message but the owner did not call me back. read more

I am shocked by the service my mother had at this clinic. She tried it for the first time and will never go back. She waited an hour with an appointment. The front desk ladies ate lunch in the reception area in front of clients. The doctor didn't introduce himself when she finally was seen with our dog. Worst of all, wait for it...the front desk person was vaping during my mom's time in the waiting room! What!? I've never heard of such rude and inconsiderate behavior. The staff is much friendlier than at other clinics that I've been to and seem to be knowledgeable. But, my dog was there over the weekend with kidney failure, I went to visit him twice a day. I noticed he was not eating his food which can be normal for his condition.On Saturday morning they gave a different food which he did eat, that evening I told the girls that the stew looking food he will eat, well they still have him the food he would not eat. Sunday both visits I told them again but they still fed him what he would not eat. So basically he was fed one meal that he would eat in three days being fed twice a day. I don't think he was let out to go to bathroom enough either, which I know they can get busy. When I would visit I would take him outside to the designated area, I must say this area was very disgusting with dog poo that you could tell some had been there for awhile. It should be picked up daily. I couldn't help but wonder what the area for the dogs with parvo look like. Which most definitely should be picked up daily. A friend said Dr Ryan was really good, Dr Zimmer was the Vet we seen, I noticed when talking with myself and with others he seems to get side tracked maybe. I noticed he doesn't stick to the subject your talking about he bounces back to what you already covered. I'm unsure how I want to rate him at this time. I will say my dog did seem to be more alert while he was there after being home he has stayed in his bed asleep which could be meds. Brought my 5 month old Frenchie in to get a mole removed from his eye that was irritating the eye. They did a vaccination before hand and a few hours later went to cut the mole from his eye. They never touched him with the scalpel he died before they got started good. A simple procedure and it left him dead. The clinic is not well staffed, rude staff and have only one veterinarian who is new graduate, passionate about his work but not well experienced. You should also expect drama while waiting for hours in line so take a vacation or send someone who is a retiree or available to sit at the clinic all day waiting for your pet to be seen. Our friend and canine son needed serious care. We went to 2 vets before finding Hope. I was extremely trepidatious to bring him here due to the reviews but when your desperate to save your friend you'll try anything. I am so glad we made the decision to bring him here. I realized that the reviews were from so long ago. And today as my heart hurts because we lost our dog I find it important to say that Hope Clinic and Dr. Faulker truly deserve 5 stars. They tended to our boy with love and compassion. The Dr knows exactly what needs to happen and is very intentional about doing the best for your animal. Even though the cancer ran its course and there was no remedy left I thank Hope for everything they did to keep our Kobe alive. Prior to this we went to 2 different doctors - The 1st who wouldn't treat him because he was a bit of a handful. The other whose price proceeded the treatment. I can't believe how much care our dog received for less than half of the other place. Pros: great care, great price, great staff Cons: always, always busy (that should tell you something). read more

Took our dog in because his paw is very infected from a fox tail. Right off the bat we weren't really told anything. The vet came in and wanted to muzzle him and hold him down. We suggested sedating him because it would be a lot more effective to remove the fox tail splinter from his foot, rather than trying to keep him still, and the vets assured us that they only wanted to muzzle him. After 3 of us held him down the vets "thought they saw something fall on the floor" and walked out of the room and left us to clean him up. Our dogs paw is now worse than before. We won't be coming back here ever again. It was honestly a waste of time, only hurt our dog more, and a waste of money. read more

I visited Hope Road Vet Clinic for the first (and last) time today. I have a long time vet who I always use for anything important, but Hope Rd was much closer to my house, and since it was just for vaccines I thought we would take a chance - big mistake! I called the clinic a couple days ago to schedule an appointment to bring in my dog for his shots. I was told that the clinic was a walk in, and an appointment wasn't necessary. Today my 100lb Doberman Pinscher and I arrived at the Hope Road Vet Clinic at about 2:50. I had a bad vibe from the moment we walked in, as the "clinic dogs" who roam the area behind the counter began barking at me. There were a lot of people in the office, so I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes while the girls sitting at the desk did their best to pretend they hadn't seen me. Finally I cleared my throat to get their attention, and one of the girls absentmindedly told me to put my name on the sign in sheet and someone would be with me as soon as possible. I wrote my name, and sat down. After waiting about 20 minutes, the same girl from the front desk came over and took my information and asked me to fill out a contact sheet. I did as she asked, and I waited. During this time, one of the "clinic dogs" who had been barking at us escaped from behind the counter and approached my dog, which made me very nervous since my dog is particular about who he has in his bubble. I would also like to mention that the staff was VERY unfriendly. I smiled at everyone who walked past me, and I don't think even one member of the office staff bothered to make eye contact with me. At this point I realized we had been waiting well over an hour, approaching an hour and a half. At least 3 or 4 people had been taken into the back, even though they had arrived AFTER we did - it seemed like the staff were in the business of serving their regular customers first. The girl from the front desk walked by, and I had the intention of asking her if she knew how much longer the wait would be, but she wouldn't even look at me. So, I did what any consumer would do, I grabbed my purse, and we left. I drove the 25 miles to my regular veterinarian, got my dog his shots, and we were headed home all in less than the amount of time I sat at Hope Road being ignored. I'm traveling to Austin and needed to take my dog to the vet. He did such a great job with her and I feel blessed there is an experienced vet that looked at my pup. You can tell he knows a lot and cares about his clients. It was also the cheapest vet visit I've had yet, especially considering the medication was included in my charge. Be prepared to wait, I'm guessing because of the quality and low expenses it's always as crowded as it was for me today. It was definitely worth the wait but count on being there for a few hours. Not super pleased with our experience :( I took my 10 week old kitten to get her first round of shots. My appointment was scheduled for 11:40, and we didn't get called back until 1:50. Once we were back, the male veterinarian doctor was preparing her vaccinations and I noticed there was blood all on one of his hands from a previous pet he had just worked on. He proceeded to give my kitten her shots without washing his hands, nor wearing any gloves. We didn't leave the place until 2:30, nearly 3 hours after our appointment time. Because I can't give 10 stars! This place is amazing! The vet I had normally used opened an after hours office. When I came home in the afternoon my dogs ear was bleeding. She was in obvious pain. I called my previous vet and requested to be seen in after hours clinic. They told me that it would be double for an office visit from what I usually pay. Even though my dog was a patient there and I had paid them thousands of dollars over the last few years, they would still charge me a hefty office visit. They couldn't get us in for a regular appointment until Monday. I fired them. I looked on yelp and found Hope Vet! They certainly did not disappoint! I saw the vet, my dog got the best check up she has ever had, she got very good treatment and medication for less than the after hours office visit would have cost without meds! I now have a new vet!!! I certainly understand why they get best of Amarillo every year!!!! Well deserved!!! read more

Our regular vet is closed on the weekends so we picked one close by. Hope Vet was our choice due to the hours. We will not be back there ever again. Worst customer service. The ladies at the front desk were rude and made everyone feel like a nuisance. 2 hours later got to see the vet. He insisted on putting my 125 pound lab on the exam table to look at his toenail. It was split. As I was helping him lift, my dog slid off table and hit the floor. The vet didn't care at all that he just dropped my dog that already has hip issues. I used to have a lot of confidence and trust in Hope Road Vet. Times in the past were plesant experiences with a friendly staff. But this time was different. My 12 year old Dauschand had developed an extremely swollen throat and her mouth was filled with bloody saliva. I woke up the next morning and it was worse so I took her to Hope Road Vet ASAP before 8 which was opening time for them. Waited in the waiting room for about 30 minutes before they called us back. They pointed to a room and we went in. No one bothered to come in to check her vital signs or check her temperature or anything. A few minutes later a woman walks in and starts looking at my dog. My response was "Are you the vet?" she replied that she was and that she forgot to introduce herself. Her name was Dr. Viddera, looked like she must have just finished vet school....maybe mid 20s. She tellls me that my dog has an infected salivary gland and to wait in the waiting room while she looks at her. So I did. She returns and tells me that they need to drain her neck and keep her for a few hours. I agreed to come back to pick her up after a few hours. So I left and went to work. About 3:00 she calls me to tell me that they need to keep my dog for 3 days to continue to drain her neck. At this point I asked her what they had done and she told me that they planned to drain her neck. So basically at this point NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE!!! I called her back and told her that I would not leave her for 3 days unattended over the weekend at their clinic and that I would pick my dog up in the morning. She told me to come no earlier than 11 that Saturday morning. I asked her if she could please check my dog's teeth as I felt it could be an abscess. She agreed and would let me know. About 8 that night she called to tell me my dog died when they started working on her. According to her she stopped breathing when they sedated her. I was devistated!! My dog was 12 but by no means was she an old dog nor a sick dog for more than that day. The Dr. repeatedly called my female dog a him over and over again when she called to give me the sad news. Then she wanted to know what I would like to do with the body. I was too upset to even think about that. The next morning I got up and made a visit to the clinic to talk to her and get my dogs collar. After waiting for about an hour in a half full waiting room my husband gets up to ask the staff how much longer we would have to wait. The receptionist went to the back and returned with the Dr. They took us to the operating room and Dr. Viddera nervously spoke to us about my dog. I pointedly asked her why the neglected my obviously sick dog all day and her response was because they were too busy to even eat lunch!! How sad! My poor dog suffered all day in their hands. She figited when I told her that she had the responsibility to tell me that they were supposed to let me know that information so I could have taken my dog elsewhere to get the needed care for her. I am so upset! I will NEVER EVER return or recommend them to anyone. read more

We've had some difficult medical problems they have helped us out with and done wonders. I have not seen any problems with infection control, and my dogs have not had any post-surgical infections. Hope Vet is staffed with ultra-compassionate techs, headed by the wonderful Dr Faulkner and his wife Sarah. We have brought both of our dogs to Hope, and have been overwhelmed by the kindness, thoroughness and thoughtfulness of the Hope team. It's certainly not the fanciest-looking animal clinic, but I am a physician myself and I know very well how much they really fight for their patients to do well, and that matters much more than a glossy-appearing clinic. The staff and vet is often there long after closing hours, even on weekends, because they are so committed to caring for the animals. The thing to know about Hope is that they do not schedule appointments, and so everything is walk in. As a result, wait times can be quite awhile. However, since I have an unpredictable schedule, this works for me. I generally recommend that if you want your animal to be seen, go before they open and wait in line. read more

I wrote a positive review of Hope Vet and David Faulkner about four years ago. For some reason the review was never listed in the area with ordinary reviews but was immediately sent to another area where they list "not recommended." I am now down to just one dog and I continue to use Hope Vet. I stand by what I said last time, "Unless I move again, I will always take my dogs to Hope." On my last visit, my dog was examined by his new Vet, Sarah Vierra (Not sure that I got her name right.) She is not as talkative, folksy or open as David Faulkner, but she did a first class job of giving my precious mutt his annual and telling me what she was and was not finding. When it was over I left feeling confident that he is not having any unusual problems and that we should be good for another year. I still standby Hope. I have no doubt that these folks are pet people and that my dog is getting the same quality of care that they give their own. PS - My dog did not need all of the usual shots because he got one or two the last time that I boarded him at Hope, and my bill was less than $30 for his exam, heart worm test and shots. Terrible place of business. All the workers at the front counter have terrible attitudes. The business is never organized or has their act together. I was a customer for 10 years and put up with the disrespect until they diagnosed my dog with a chronic illness, causing me to buy medication once a month. I figured once I started coming in once a month and spending over a hundred dollars each visit they would treat me nicer but in fact it got worse. Never had my medication ready and never even knew what medication to give me unless I told them. I thought I would try Hope Vet because they help a local horse rescue that I'm involved. I started with getting my dogs' teeth cleaned there, and the price was far less than anyone else. I learned that they sedate rather than use anesthesia, which I really appreciate for many reasons. First, you don't have the dangers of the anesthesia. And they can be dropped off/picked up same day. I live 100 miles away so it makes it much more convenient. From there, my fondness has grown. My sister has switched to them, as well as my aunt. Sometimes, well most times, there is a long wait. But it is well worth it. Both vets are very compassionate and personable. So for me, my sister, and my aunt, we all think a 2 hour drive and possibly a 3 hour wait is worth it. read more

People, please don't let these angry reviews sway you. Always remember, there are only three types of people who write reviews; those who were so impressed they wrote a review, people who have one bad experience and blow it out of proportion, and people who try to save the businesses they love from the second type of person. Hope Vet is an AWESOME vet. I will admit that you do need to show up early because they are busy. But they're busy because they're AWESOME. Wouldn't you want to go to the same bet that everyone else seems to go for a reason??? Dr. Faulkner is the best. He's gentle and caring, and actually remembers YOUR animal, even with all his patients. His wife however is one of his assistants and she can come off as very "this is a waste of my time". I do think she actually cares, she's just busy. Now, if you need an inspirational story to motivate you to go to Hope, I'll tell you the same story I tell everyone else when I suggest Hope Vet. We used to have a total mutt named Harley. He was sweet and loving and a TOTAL goofball. One time we were walking him at Medi Park and some total jackass apparently left their fishing line on the sidewalk, complete with hook and leftover hotdog. Of course Harley snatched it right up before we even saw it there. All we saw when he turned to look at us what just fishing line hanging out of his mouth....sigh, silly dog. ;) My husband stayed up with him all night and took him to the vet as soon as they were open. They gave him an X-ray and saw the hook at the bottom of his stomach (a nice big triple hooked one!). They told us that if it got into his intestine it would pull them together and rip them to shreds. We told them to go ahead an operate immediately. Now, at the time, our only income was my husband's pizza hut delivery job so paying hundreds of dollars for a surgery was absolutely out of the question. Dr. Faulkner told the surgery would run at about $800. When we told him originally that we may to think about to putting him down instead, he immediately said he knew that we were doing the best we could and offered to pay for some himself. He took us to the front and wrote a check for $450 (to his own business), and let us pay out the rest in small monthly payments. Harley came through surgery fine and after a day was back to his happy, goofy self. I will NEVER go to another Vet in Amarillo. We've also had our male Cocker neutered there, our cat neutered and declawed, our female Cocker's Cherry Eye fixed, and we've taken numerous puppies and strays in to get their shots before we re-homed them. IF you do ever have call and ask to be put on the schedule for surgery, just know that it depends on the surgery. If you're calling to get a spay/neuter you'll probably be on the waiting list for about 3 months. However, if you do have another surgery that needs to be scheduled just make sure to TELL them! When we called to get our girl Cocker's Cherry Eye Correction Surgery they told me originally like 3 months, and once I said it was for her Cherry Eye they corrected it and schedule her in a week. Don't let silly people get you down. And trust your instincts. A caring vet that has good prices? Sounds good to me. :) read more

We've used Hope Road Vet clinic for over 10 years. I've got 3 dogs, two house cats and we used to have numerous barn cats (have since moved into the city). You can't find a more caring doctor than Dr. Faulkner. The rest of the staff is great too. Theirs is a walk-in clinic so wait times are long, but when it's your turn, you see a very caring and concerned staff. Their prices are also reasonable. read more

This won't be a long statement because all I have to say about David and his staff is that they have always been kind and considerate to me and my animals. I have been going to Hope Vet since 1996 and would not take my animals to anyone else. They have helped me thru a death of one of my old cats...and anyone that's an animal lover knows how hard it is to lose an animal due to age. They've help me with a life saving surgery for my Grand dog when I thought I would have to put her down. Guess some people just have their opinions about how long you have to wait or the animals that they rescue who stay at the office until someone will adopt them...I would recommend Hope Vet to anyone. read more
