I found Catherine on Yelp, called her, left a message, she called me back and squeezed me in. She sent me a reminder text the day before my appointment. I went in the salon as a platinum blonde with few low lights. I showed Catherine pictures of myself from a few years ago. I wanted more low lights and a subtle bob cut. Not only did she nail the cut and color, but she made me feel good! (See picture for her stellar work). I've recently gone through a personal crisis, so I needed a pick me up. Not only did Catherine make me feel pretty, she shared some of her personal life, as she empathized with me. That meant the world to me to have one-on-one time & girl chat. Before leaving, she insisted I contact her if I had any questions about Kingwood living, shopping or the area in general....knowing I don't have many friends here yet. Not only did Catherine do her job, she excelled on a personable, outgoing, friendly level!!! I'm so thankful I didn't have to go through 5 stylists to land in Catherine's chair!

Not a huge fan of the baby light technique so I asked for chunky-er pieces. I've never had issues in the past as I've had money pieces, etc. I was under NO impression that it was a "color correction" or that it needed a multi step process. I know little about color so I followed who I thought was the "expert" For almost $400, I received a five hour gruesome appointment, two hours which I was stuffed at the wash bowl and when I went to the bathroom I saw my hair was actually orange, where my stylist told me "it's not done yet". I'll post photos, but the after was not at all what I was wanting. The salon light was super deceiving and I was trying to be nice and respectful so I even shared a filtered photo to make my stylist feel better. After I washed it I was absolutely horrified. I genuinely don't think my hair had ever looked so bad. It had a weird yellow tint with a little green and there was patches EVERYWHERE. It looked rushed and honestly like I tried to do it at home. After trying to be nice, I went to the owner to fix it. After an in depth conversation, we agreed on a darker color to blend the yellow on top. After I drove (almost an hour there and back - spent a whole tank of premium gas on this experience) and getting dirty looks from the other stylist on the way to my second appointment, it looked the same if not worse and more washed out after. And I paid almost $400. After missing one of my good friends birthday on a Saturday after crying all day about how bad my hair was, I reached out to the owner politely asking to fix it. She refused unless I paid for MORE bleach and then ghosted me. No refund, no nothing. Now I have to pay even MORE for a color correction after my hair has been completely ruined. I really tried to be as nice and respectful because I completely understand that things happen, but I was beyond screwed over on multiple levels. I would highly recommend against this salon and will be sharing my experience within my circle.

However, this spa has EVERYTHING I needed all in one place, so I decided to try again. I am glad I did, as yesterday I had a great experience. First of all, the person at the front desk (Ashley, maybe?) was very friendly when I called and when I arrived. I scheduled some waxing and hydra facial with Emily. Emily is AHMAZING, and I will return for a regular facial soon. I appreciate her knowledge of the products, and she tells you everything she is doing. Plus, she was very sweet, but not too talkative (I hate small talk and like to RELAX at the salon). Bailey gave me a haircut. As far as technique, it was ok. I wouldn't say I have found The One (I have been shopping for a regular stylist for 3 years since my long term hair stylist chose to be a stay at home mom). Overall I liked that Bailey was quiet and the end result was great. I would go back to her for a trim, but I will keep looking for my forever stylist. Which probably won't be at Salon M since there are only 3 stylists here. I liked the August discount for teachers, but according to the flyer, I should have gotten $15 off both facial abs haircut services. Ashley only gave me one discount, which is a bummer. I do like their rewards points program!!! That is a cool incentive to get you to return. You earn $1 for every $50 you spend.
