Hands down the worst treatment I've ever experienced at a bar. We were a group of 10 adults -- calm, respectful, and there to have a good time. Not drunk. Not rowdy. Not disrespectful. Just ordering drinks, talking, and enjoying ourselves. But from the second we walked in, it felt like we were being watched. Judged. Targeted. And then it happened -- every single one of us was cut off. No warning. No reason. Just refused service across the board. Bartenders wouldn't explain, the staff gave us attitude, and no one had the professionalism or basic courtesy to pull us aside and tell us why. Not one person in our group was out of control. So what was it? Too many of us? Not their "type"? Didn't like that we weren't regulars? It was humiliating and honestly infuriating. We left immediately and took our money -- and our respect -- somewhere else. They lost hundreds in drinks and tips that night. But more importantly, they lost ten people who will never walk through those doors again. And we're telling everyone. Came in on a Sunday afternoon from Galena. Wanted to eat outside overlooking the Mississippi, and this place filled the bill. Surprisingly, they had a band playing and we had to wait just a bit for a table, as we had a party of 13. Ended up at 2 picnic tables on the deck. Good drinks and everyone enjoyed their food. Server was attentive, but the kitchen is very small. Food came out in 'waves', with 15 minutes between our first and last served. Not cool. Outside of that, very happy we made the trip. read more

I am from out of town and got told my legitimate Missouri ID was fake. The bouncer then refused to return the ID after telling me that he cannot let me in unless I have a different proof of identification. I told him I don't have another form of ID and that he can call the police to verify it's real but he refused to do so and kept saying that he won't be returning the ID. I have been to hundreds of bars and have never been so disrespected. Luckily I was able to get my ID back after convincing so I went to Q Casino and they scanned my ID just fine. This was our first visit to The Yardarm and we were pleasantly surprised. We sat outside and had great views of the marina and mississippi. There is a very large outdoor area (per friendly) and it was quite busy. Servers were friendly and efficient. We had the full size nachos with taco meat. This place has the opportunity to be an amazing go-to place, but the last 3-4 times we've been here, it's been a miserable disappointment. I know it's bar food, but they just don't seem to care in any way to create quality. We haven't come for a meal since last year because we were disappointed, so we tried again today and it seemed even worse. Pizza with onion came with red onions that didn't cook all the way and was overloaded; the sauce is obviously canned, crust is very average. My daughters Mac n cheese came cold. Ignore the reviews form two years ago. Stuff was still weird from COVID. The Yardaram is a Dubuque summer staple, and particularly great for boaters. This place kicks out some pretty decent bar food, and has reasonably priced beverages. Sometimes the service can be hit or miss, but usually doesn't disappoint. The location is unique, and provides a pretty cool vibe. read more

terrible. I am 23 and yardarm denied me service. On the Fourth of July you would think they would have competent staff because of the crowd but they had no idea what they were doing. The front of house staff were so clueless that i was genuinely shocked when my friends and i were denied. so rude and abrasive. we paid the heavy cab charge to have to walk over a mile up closed road to get to the marina and they would not let us in without even checking our valid IDs. bull. read more

I ordered the chicken & bacon nachos and they were ok. Definitely could have used more sauce but the shredded chicken was ok. The onion rings were great. My wife got the fish and chips. One of the pieces of fish was cold and greasy. It was obvious the nachos and fish may have been left out for a bit. The cheese curds and burger was ok but the curds were accompanied by a strange fruity sweet sauce that was not ok. Our server was very attentive and great. There were several tables open but my party of 10 still had to wait to be sat. They are severely understaffed. Once we were sat it took nearly an hour for food orders to come out. Multiple plates came out cold, idk about you but I'm not a fan of cold tacos or a cold chicken sandwich that's intended to be spicy hot. Manager ended up giving discounts on the cold dishes with a discount totaling $27, however, the waitress already made her money since we were a party of 10 and the included gratuity was $35....sure glad we got the discount just to pay the waitress who wasn't attentive to our table. Decent little place. Nothing fancy but the food was good enough. I had the beer cheese prime rib sandwich which was good but a bit messy. The loaded fries were really good. My girl friend had the mushroom Swiss burger and said it was good. My main complaint was after dark the section we were sitting I had no lighting and you could even see the food very well. The other seating area had lighting. Would have gotten another star had we been able to see our food. The security actually was enforcing the mask rules fairly strict and made someone leave tonight. I love the atmosphere here! It feels like I'm on vacation every time I visit. I ate lunch here last year and the food was alright. I decided to give it another try today and I am so glad I did! The service was efficient and the food was awesome! I had the sweet potato burger and I recommend getting it! The chef came out to the deck to visit with customers to see how their meals were, I thought that was a nice touch! The service started out great, but went down quickly. We ordered drinks and an app. which came out right away! Bonus because we had two hungry little ones. We placed our order soon after and within a few minutes the waitress came back to say they were out of a menu items that we ordered. We found an alternative and kept enjoying our app and drink. 30+ minutes later we asked if our food was coming. She came back to say she had put in the wrong order for a salad and I was going to get something different. A couple more minutes later she said they hadn't even started the salad yet so I was indeed going to get what I ordered. At this point we asked for our food to go. It had been nearly an hour. Tables around us that came much after us had received their meals already, two tables were even finished. A different waitress came about two minutes later giving us our food to go. We asked to speak to manager about our wait time and explained to her the situation. She said it was the kids chicken that was taking so long. SERIOUSLY? It was FRIED chicken bites. those take 5 minutes, MAX. She was able to take off a portion of our bill, thank goodness because when we got home, my salad was NOT what I ordered, they just swapped out the dressing. My husband and I never leave a review but because we had such a bad experience and the place itself should be so cool, we felt we wanted to let the owner of this establishment know how terrible all of the staff that works here are. The whole staff was BEYOND unprofessional. We walked in and sat at the bar, the bar tender was an older guy with some tats and he barely acknowledged us because he was too busy chatting with a clearly drunk young lady sitting at the bar (who later was in the bathroom drying herself off under the hand dryer for 15 minutes). After we had to ask for menus he never came over to ask if we wanted to place an order, my husband had to flag him over. After our order was placed a group of young guys (who were also loaded and apparently worked there too) came in and proceeded to yell to the bartender standing directly behind us so we were in the middle of the conversation they were having about a party they were all going to. We also know that the bartender has five children, the female manager hates customers and proceeded to share with the whole group about how she had to kick a customer out and how he never pays his tab. While we were eating another group of young girls came in (who also worked there) and proceeded to make comments about how we were sitting at the bar and how they couldn't stand people. We finally went outside to listen to music and sit at that bar. At 10:15 they began to close things down....the place was advertised that is was open until 2. We went back inside to grab a couple more drinks and continued to receive death looks and comments. I asked the bartender what time they were open and he mumbled 2 but that if it was slow, they close down early and that he was annoyed about all the work they had to do to close because he worked another job.....not our problem dude. (the place was not slow either) We are a super laid back couple, we've both worked in the service industry and we own a business...we get it, sometimes you have a bad day and need to vent, but this was ridiculous. It's unfortunate because, like I said, the place itself could be great. Clean house with your staff and maybe you can turn things around. We are from the northeast, the planet of rude people, and we have never experienced anything like that here. You guys are doing a disservice to the people of Dubuque! read more
