Their customer service is horrible. I've sent many emails to get someone to help and have heard nothing. I would never go thru them again.

SHADY!!! I purchased tickets from this company that were advertised on Groupon as a 40% off "deal" which translated into paying $27 for a tickets that was supposedly worth $45 but went I attempted to redeem the vouchers on their website and register for the event they only gave me credit for $35 and required me to pay an additional $10 "experience fee". I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first and thought it was a mistake but after numerous attempts to get it resolved through both groupon and YayMaker I think it's an intentional SCAM so BEWARE of this company. I was very clear that I wanted them to either honor the deal as advertised OR refund my money and after a week of going back and forth with them they have not done either one. Closest they came was offering as a "one time exception" to refund the additional fee if I would just go ahead and pay it at the time of registration which, of course, is ridiculous and not gonna happen. read more

My event got canceled without any notice. I traveled across the city for the event, only to hear from a barista that the event won't be happening. Yaymaker didn't send a cancellation email whatsoever. When I got home disappointed, I emailed Yaymaker asking about the canceled event and they took FOREVER to respond. read more

I found a groupon for 25-/person. They had it at west of pecos in the mission. You have to show up to these things early if you have a group of friends and all want to sit together. It was just my boyfriend and I so we didn't have a problem finding 2 seats next to each other. Each person gets a good size canvas 16 x 20" I think, a palette of paint and a couple paint brushes. I kind of wish they had a smaller paint brush. They were both kind of big and harder to do the smaller details with them. Overall a very fun night. 2 hrs long. They don't care of you paint whatever you want but we followed along with the instructions for the painting of the night. It moved at a good pace. You end up with a finished piece which is really good for 2 hours. It was fun with good energy and I loved the food and drinks at west of pecos, so I'll have to head back there for dinner soon. Just a word of warning; they give you aprons but there is a risk of getting paint on yourself as you carry your painting home because its not quite enough time for them to dry completely. read more

My first experience was the best. The artist Kevin, was very energetic and funny. He was very engaged with the audience and everyone had a great time. He talked the entire time and really kept the atmosphere alive. He was also very skilled and was very good at instructing the class and giving very clear and direct steps for beginners. My second experience with Rogelio (Rolo) was disappointing. While he was fairly 'nice enough', he simply was not a very good artist, he was not energetic, did not engage very much with the audience. There was a lot of down time, where the crowd was silent and bored, he was not very entertaining at all. He also did not give any first timers a chance to learn, was not able to instruct or give helpful hints on how to achieve the painting properly. I was looking for a good time like I had the previous time, but was let down. And this was also a treat for a family member who had never been so I felt bad that I told her how exciting and fun it would be, only to have a boring, un-engaged artist hosting. I actually feel bad because it seemed as though maybe he was having a bad day and was preoccupied on his phone, maybe there was something personal going on. But it was a very disappointing experience compared to my first. read more

To reschedule my event for another day I have to pay $20 reschedule fee. Such a waste of money! The ticket itself was $40. I either have the option of paying EXTRA $20 to reschedule or LOSE my $40 if I don't show up. I find it ridiculous. read more

Since Paint Nite was taken over by Yaymaker, it has gone downhill. I used to like going and had a great time. Last 3 paint nights I scheduled were cancelled and rescheduled at the last minute (twice on the day of). So if you are doing a special event for someone (birthday or have a friend in out of town) you are out of luck. They apologize but when you are looking forward to doing something you've planned and they cancel at last minute, it is NOT COOL. Also, you need to review the artists before you decide on a painting or location...some, like a guy named BINDU, are terrible. Last event I went to I was unfortunate to have him as instructor. 7-9 event didn't start til 7:45; He didn't show up until around 7 to start setting up. He played x-rated rap so loud you couldn't talk. And he kept taking multiple breaks to drink and smoke pot. He was wasted by 8 pm. I finally left at 9:45 without having finished. Again, company "apologized" and said they'd talk with the team, but they need to know even though this is 21 and older, most people take offense at such behavior. Plus, it is a reflection on the company -- they are hiring these artists. So.....if you want to plan a nice, fun evening out and don't mind having things cancel at the last minute feel free to try Yaymaker. Unless things drastically change with them and they start acting like a professional company don't bother wasting your money. read more

This was my third time painting and quite possibly my last. I bought two tickets directly through Paint Nite's website for City Beach in Fremont. It was the Glowing Lotus painting. We thought it would be a great mother-daughter afternoon, especially before she leaves for UCLA. We had Nicole "Pinky" yesterday at City Beach in Fremont. -Awful lighting. Dark in our section. -Not enough oblong tables. Sat in round tables. Difficult to see instructor. -Speaker for her mic was terrible. Tough time understanding what she was saying. Didn't feel safe to say anything because she would've swore at us. She should've traded her mic speaker for separate music speaker. -Did too much of "singing." Felt like she was promoting her voice and waiting to be discovered. Also threw in the idea of having a karaoke paint nite. She needs to work on her paint nite skills first. -Took way too long to instruct. Session was supposed to be 3-5pm but we didn't get out until 6:30pm!!! To make a long story short, she was not professional at all. Her mouth needs to be washed with soap and water. It seemed like every other word coming out of her mouth was foul!!! She told us that was only her 2nd class. She has a long way to go but I don't know if she would last long. I sure will not go to another class with her instructing. It's sad that this bad experience has put a bad taste in my mouth for Paint Nite although my previous instructors in the San Jose area rocked- Gabriel and Shari. Felt like we were treated like elementary school kids because she had a board up with rules. Were told to sit down when we were trying to see the painting better. Wouldn't give more paint if we needed it and were told to get it from someone else. Just didn't get a happy feeling when we left. It was more like "Yeah, it's finally over" feeling. I have been to paint night before and I enjoyed it so much but my second event was terrible. I had an instructor named Elizabeth and she was so rude and disrespectful to everyone including the restaurant staff, I am surprised this company would keep her on staff. She may be a good artist but she is a rude and disrespectful person. I won't be attending another paint night. This was a terrible experience. read more

My friend and I decided to try out a paint nite event since we've seen so many other people having such a great time! We went to the Paint Nite at Bijou Restaurant in Hayward and our instructor was Kevin. Honestly, this was such a fun day! Kevin was absolutely hilarious and made the time pass by so fast! He guided us through the steps to our painting in an easy way. I didn't think that I would be able to paint something as beautiful as the sample but I was so happy with the results. It was just an absolutely awesome time! The only thing that I didn't like was that it was extremely hard to eat or drink while painting since there wasn't that much room next to the painting. I mean you don't really wanna drip any paint into your mimosa right? So that was just a little inconvenient. But overall, my friend and I had an AWESOME time. I would maybe come back one more time but probably not more than that since I don't really have anywhere to hang the painting. HAHA. read more

my firm brought in 2 artists from paint nite yesterday and hosted the event in the office. it was so much fun! the artists are so energetic and made us all laugh, and realize our inner artistic selves - we're a bunch of accountants and consultants... sooooo it must have been challenging for them. anyhoo - would be totes down to do this again! we did starry night and painted the TRANSAMERICA bldg in it... that was hilarious! read more

I did this the other night with artist Torrey Delaplane. Hands down one of the most fun nights ever. She took us through everything step by step and interacted with us to make us as comfortable as possible. I already signed up for another one of her classes because of how much fun it was! I am bringing my parents this time and we are all so excited. This is going to become a new tradition of mine and it's a great way to add artwork to my home and I can say that I painted it! I've done Paint Nite several times on the Peninsula (at TasteVin Wine Bar & Bistro in San Carlos - cute wine bar - and at the Deseo Tequila Lounge - great margarita's, but a little rustic). Great fun and an awesome social event! The artists are really nice and very helpful. Whether you are a beginner or an art student, you are sure to have a fun night.
