Terrible company and the worst customer service. I have sent them a bunch of emails and they just ghost me. I was going with a friend and she couldnt make the reservation so I rescheduled on time based on their policies and then when I tried to reschedule to 2 different events, they cancelled due to low attendance. the artist then scheduled me without my permission to events on random days/times that I couldn't make. now they won't refund me the money. I tried to dispute with my credit company and waited for them to answer for 3 months and then they said something to them when they told me they'd refund me which was a lie. now they told me they'd give me a voucher with an expiration in 2 months but this event is no longer offered where I live and the voucher can't be used for online or on demand events so they stole my money and now are ignoring my emails. My recent experience at Mars Bar confirmed Paint Nite is not worth the money. It was a Tuesday night, not a weekend. It was supposed to start at 7:00, it started at 8:00 because the teacher was so disorganized. Another student helped him set up or we'd probably still be there! No paints nor water at each seat, my friend didn't get an apron because after going home for more supplies, he still didn't have enough. Who wants paint on their clothes? He kept blaming the lack of set-up on a group added at the last minute. There were 27 people on the patio with one heater. You were either really hot or really cold. There were technical issues showing us the picture to paint on the TV screen. He was busy vaping through the crowd giving feedback, instead of showing 27 people what to do next. You don't have that luxury when you start an hour late. We all lost patience. For some reason, the interior of the bar was freezing. It was warmer outside when we left. Every window and the front door were open the whole night. We met ahead for dinner but I also wouldn't spend more time in the bar at those temps than needed. After complaining, we were given a coupon to use another time. Thanks, anyway. Next time, it's friends at my house and youtube instructional videos (and maybe no vaping in my face). Yay! read more

I love Paint Nite!! I had previously done it before down in socal but wanted to do it with my friends up here because I had such a great time. For San Francisco locations, you definitely have to reserve your night around a month in advance... The paint nite reservations go fast!! So hurry up and buy your $25 groupon (compared to $45 regularly), clear your schedule for that night, and reserve a night for painting with your friends! I attended Paint Nite at The Empire Room on Golden Gate Ave yesterday night with 2 of my friends. We had Ashley as our artist and she was friendly and funny! She also really took her time and had some good tips along the way. She was really nice about helping people out, for example my friend accidentally got black on her light blue background (LOL), and Ashley helped her fix it! I also saw a girl come in late and Ashley helped her catch up. The two hours goes by relatively fast and by 9pm, you're asking yourself where the time went. Nonetheless definitely a fun girls night, or even a date night! We got to The Empire Room a little early so we decided to take advantage of their happy hour drink specials. Drinking while painting is fun, but don't let it hinder your painting skills.... hahaha! They also have small bites and entrees that you could order since it was around dinner time. Also, don't even worry if you don't have any artistic ability or haven't painted since kindergarten.. The artists really go step by step and make it so much easier than it looks! read more

Advice: When they say show up early, they mean show up EARLY. We were there 15 mins prior, thinking that would be plenty but like other reviewers, it really wasn't! Luckily we did have seats next to each other. Ordered some great wine and a pizza (Cibo Rustica in Santa Rosa) then got to painting. I felt like the instruction from Juniper Sweet was good, though inaudible at times because of the static/feedback of the mic. Combine that with the fact that we were so far away, I had to physically get up several times to see what she was doing. By the end of the night, I was reminded .... I'm. Not. An. Artist. Not only do they bring all the supplies you need to paint and do the set up, they make the whole process of booking them and figuring everything out super easy. Our artist was very friendly and patient with my group. Especially as the night progressed and the wine was catching up with everyone. Her instructions were easy to follow and she balanced her time well with teaching the whole group and helping individuals. I absolutely LOVED this event and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a few hours of fun! The experience lasted roughly 2 hours and took place at a winery in downtown SF. Painting while buzzed? What more could I ask for. Tip: show up early to grab food or drinks at the venue if so desired. And to ensure that you get a good selection of seats. My event was sold out, so I was glad I came earlier and got center seats. Started off by grabbing a rosé from the counter (just note that the price of drinks is not included in the ticket price). My instructor cracked endlessly funny life jokes as she taught us the steps to reconstructing (while still adding our own touches) to the advertised painting. My only complaint is that she went really fast, and I felt like I did not have enough time to keep up. The pace slowed down towards the end, so I had could at least add finishing touches. Another point to note (and this is specific to my event), was that the instructor didn't go into as much detail doing her painting on the spot than the advertised painting. Used a Groupon deal for this ($25/person for 2hrs--otherwise it's $45) and it was so much fun! You have to register online in advance and choose the painting you want to do, the venue, and the time. Some of the more popular paintings (ie. cherry blossoms, Van Gogh inspired starry night) quickly sell out so you might have to plan a month in advance. I went to the Cigar Bar & Grill for this. The only downside is that the painting instructor went through it pretty fast (or maybe we're just slow) and they ran out of aprons!! So some of us had to use either table cloths or napkins. What. How is that possible when there is a set amount of people that can register and attend the event?! Still fun nonetheless. Painting, snacking, and sipping on drinks, what could be more fun? read more

Who knew I was a master artist? I always thought I was the one person in my family who was not artistic. I took ceramics in high school, photography in college, and ikebana as an adult but painting and drawing were never my thing. Apparently, we are all better artists when we are a little tipsy. I thought my starry Golden Gate turned out fantastic. The instructor made it very easy to follow the steps and also explained that there's room for creativity and self-expression. The bridge did not have to be so precise and we had an amazing time. I'd recommend Paint Nite for a fun date or girls' night out. It's affordable with a Groupon or LivingSocial deal. I booked an event pre-COVID that cost 108$ for 2 people. Due to COVID, we decided to reschedule it rather than risk getting infected. We got emailed the reschedule codes but it turns out that each code is now only worth 25$ - this means that 58$ of value just mysteriously disappeared. In addition barely any host accept vouchers especially for plant night events (which is the original booking). Emails to yaymaker customer service just get ignored. Fun, fun and fun! Just clean fun night with bunch of friends and learnt how to paint! We had a great time! The instructor Carla was fun and she took her time to check if everyone needed anything and she made the Paint Nite experience fun and I will come back to try other ones! We painted pumpkin but mine turned looked like a giant tomato but doesn't matter it was fun! The food and drinks were reasonable we had the glazed chicken wings, meat ball plate and couple glasses of wines! Okay, Paint Nite was way more fun than I ever expected - I was not anticipating a 5 star experience but I would highly recommend it as a new activity. I won't lie - wine helped the fun, as did the bumping 90s pop and hip hop jams (they really pegged the crowd at 30 somethings). Our energetic host and instructor, Amanda, was cracking jokes and skirting adult euphemisms non-stop. She was over the top in the best of ways. The constant joking that drinking will make it more fun was almost a little too much, but not untrue. Conveniently, our beautiful event room at the Hotel Majestic was adjacent to the bar and also had a floating server (passive, not at all pushy) to make sure everyone's inhibitions and expectations were lowered. There was also a food menu but I'm not sure how you'd eat given all the table space is taken up by painting equipment. Plus, you're moderately busy and focused following along painting. Over the course of two hours, Amanda took everyone step by step in painting a nighttime sky, and from walking around the room even the presumably worst artists were able to salvage a decent painting (myself included, and the last time I painted was probably elementary school). But it's not really about the end-product, which you're probably not going to hang, but instead having a blast with your SO or friends. read more

We got late by 5 minutes and they were nice to take us in and helped us to get seats together. They also helped us all the time in creating the best possible painting that we could. I chose a class to attend virtually and the instructor never showed up. I sent an email requesting a refund. Two days later the response I received was that they dont give refunds, that I could request a code to choose a different class. Erin, who answered my email, never acknowledge their fault or the instructor's fault for not showing up to her own class. I understand no refunds if its the client's fault, but no even apologizing for your instructor for not doing their work and making you wait it's unacceptable. They should offer refunds in this cases. Erin's response was very disappointing and I will not be recommending anyone to use this company. I did use my ticket for a different class with another instructor and she was great, that is why I am giving this 2 stars, however my review goes to the unprofessionalism of the company handling workers who do not do their jobs and refunds. read more

So heres the deal: Apparently you send a coworker or two with everybody's crap they put it down on the chairs, then your crew roles in late and everybody wins... Except the people who don't know that, reserve their tickets, arrive an hour early, are patronizing the restaurant because the event staff aren't even there yet, and per instructions go over 30 minutes or so early to get a feel for the place. Sit anywhere you like! We were told. Except the places with personal items on them. Which was every seat except for or 5 scattered in the back. I was there on a date. We counted 20+ seats reserved, which was a real shock since we'd been there early when there were about 5 other people in the whole establishment. The worst part was the staff was completely okay with this kindergarten, bush league system and had the nerve to tell us to get their earlier next time. Oh we got there before them and over an hour before started? Well we should have known the system of throw everything you own down to save seats... I mean some were saved with scarves for christ's sake. The sweet waitress didn't believe we couldn't get seats together and went in there to straighten it out only to come back and inform us there appeared to be one seat maybe two in the back. F that. Leave the house on a Wed night to do what? PAINT? At Chevy's? For 2 hours?? This was my immediate reaction to ELC's invite. However, to my surprise, I enjoyed myself. 5 stars to our indomitable instructor Rachel Gold, who was personable, organized, available for individual help/questions, and made all of us feel like artists for an evening. Her playlist, by the way, was good - ranging from classic 80's to present day popular songs. Despite me never painting (unless you count my watercolors from age 5-10), I managed to follow her simple instructions and technical tips. At break times, I walked around and looked at others' paintings and was amazed at how good ALL of them looked. From my questioning, I gathered at least half the group were first timers. Also much appreciated from Rachel was her OPEN-MINDED attitude. From the beginning, she informed us that it was up to us to decide if we wanted to use the same colors and paint the same scene as the model painting OR we could do nothing but drink/eat/chat OR draw smiley faces on the canvas OR form a conga line and dance around the room. I wasn't in the mood for a dark blue background, so I chose red. Instead of stars, I painted flying birds. Instead of the aurora borealis, I painted a sun. I also liked how she took pics for her FB album and a pic of each attendee + finished painting at the end. Saved me the pressure of taking pics (though I took a few anyway). Before she took pics, she did tell us to let her know if we did NOT want to be on her FB page. Things I wish Rachel detailed in the beginning: 1. How to get a flat edge on the brush to draw thin lines - press sides of brush against paper towel to form a strong edge 2. Tell us how many times to dip the brush into water, then dip in color, then repeat. 2x? 3x? 3. After dipping your brush in water, dry your brush on the paper towel to make sure no water runs down the canvas. 4. If a drop does run, stop it be putting a piece of paper towel on it. DO NOT WIPE canvas (paint will come off). Regarding colors, there were other colors (like green) available upon request and paper towels at front and bathroom sink was nearby to get a fresh cup of water for brushes. Clothing/What to wear: Since the paint is acrylic, it is water soluble but nonetheless, I wore old clothes just in case. Turns out that it was unnecessary. The smock covered me and apart from getting paint 2x on my fingers (easily washed off in bathroom sink), I had no mishaps. Most people wore business casual or jeans. I was the only one in yoga pants. Seating arrangements at Chevy's in Eville: long tables - 3 ppl on each side; booths - 2-3 ppl per booth. At tables, chairs wooden - I have a back issue but brough a towel for cushion - between that and getting up frequently, I was ok. Arrive 15- 20 min early to pick out your seats. Food/drinks: Complimentary chips and dip. Order drinks and other food from waiter. With our paint easel and supplies, barely any room a drink, much less plates of food, though nearly everyone ordered something. I ate a salad around 5:30p before the event. Highly recommend eating before hand so you can focus on painting instead of a growling stomach. Noise level: very loud. there were at least 3 birthdays during the 3 hours I was there. Servers gather around the bday table and sing. Rachel cranked the music up, which was nice to drown out the sound of other people talking. If you are sensitive to noise, bring ear plugs. Start time: we started about 20 min late since at 7p there were still 10 ppl who hadn't arrived. Finished around 9:30p. This didn't faze me, it's the Bay Area after all and 580/80 is unpredictable. Parking: Main lot was packed with diners and lines drawn for small cars. There is a small additional lot next door. I originally parked in the main lot but moved my car later b/c I could easily see someone dinging my rear or doors due to the narrow lines. If you drive a Fiat you'll be fine. If you drive a Camry - you will feel hemmed in. Cost: To get the groupon price, you can use a PaintNiite discount code ($20 off): EastBay2014 and this way, Rachel will get more money (instead of sharing with Groupon). read more

Used Groupon for this event. Attended Paint Nite in Sonoma. We showed up 6 minutes late, and it seriously felt like the class had started 30 minutes prior to our arrival. Everyone had their wine, food had been ordered... the instructor said there were two seat left, and they were not next to each other. He stated, "I suggest you gently ask the women on the end if they wouldn't mind scooting down one seat". First of all... I think the instructor should have been the one to ask, considering he was guiding the class. (Kinda like what an airline stewardess would do). We asked the lady if she would kindly move over a seat, and shockingly.... she said 'no'... she didn't want to move. UHHHH... okay! So another nice person said, "Just sit over here, if you don't mind looking backward at his instructions". We didn't mind. We were there to have fun! I asked the hotel waitress how to order wine, since the class instructor didn't give any direction... she gave me a menu, and I purchased an expensive bottle of wine, and a burger. (Food at the Sonoma Lodge was just.. Eh... ok). My BF and I still had fun with each other, because it was about us being there together, and not so much about what others were doing. We were engrossed in our own conversation, and painting. :) Paint Nite is all about who you go with. No matter what else is happening around you, so long as you're in good company, you're good. It helps if the music is good, as well as the instructor... meaning, the instructor is engaging, and has a splendid personality~ but we didn't have that going on in this class.. so our fun was dependent on just the two of us... which was okay. I'd go again, and hope to God that the next instructor was more lively, engaging, and personable. Worth the Groupon rate~ certainly NOT worth paying full price. read more

The host never showed up and we never got an explanation. They credited us with another free event. So we booked a third event. The host was on for about 15 then kept disconnecting. She reconnected a few times then never came back. One good event out of three is terrible. I encourage anyone looking for a fun corporate event to look elsewhere. read more

I attended my first Paint Nite last night with one of my favorites at Cigar Bar. I used to frequent Cigar Bar for it's night life and salsa dancing so I was excited to be there for a different event. I unfortunately arrived late because of work and was concerned that I wouldn't be able to keep up. However, the instructor, Ingrid Wells, did a great job letting us go at our own pace and really allowing us to do our thing. The painting we had chosen was "Fireflies" and it was so fun learning the technique. My friend and I had such a great time letting our creative juices flow on a random Tuesday night. We also had time to snack on food and drink from the restaurant and catch up on some girl talk. Overall, the event was well organized and tons of fun. I would highly recommend this event to everyone for a fun and creative night out in the city! p.s. I'm already looking through the next months paintings so I can schedule my next class. We clicked on the link that shows today's date and time and the link said event will be held next month. No warning ahead of time that the date has changed or explanation why. I quickly messaged customer support and got automated message that I would receive a response in 2 to 3 days. My daughter is crushed as she was really looking forward to this I spent $50 on materials and just realized that there is no refunds with this company only rescheduling and no support Extremely disappointed. Feels like I spent $100 for something that was rescheduled multiple times, and that the host obviously did not want to do. You can tell these guys hate their jobs and their whole life and want the attendees of their events to feel like crap. Trying so hard to do things virtually in covid, so it sucks that these guys are so unhappy themselves that it results in cancelled events and vitriol towards attendees. Did my first paint night Sunday, August 11 at Taverna Aventine in The City. I have never painted anything in my life, and I'm 66 years old (male). Needless to say, I was the oldest (but coolest!) person in the place. I just discovered the world of art in the past couple months, and am totally smitten. Paint Night is the bomb! A smash! The group of painters was there to party, and everyone had a ball. Much smack talk among the groups, and even more laughter. One of the funnest groups of people I've ever been with at an event, all strangers except for the two women with me. The artist and her staff of 1 were wonderful -- warm and friendly and funny and down to earth, talked us through the process at a perfect pace, and helped some people who requested it. I produced an actual painting which, in the words of my main critic, "does not totally suck" -- a MIRACLE! The setup was great, and the La Crema Pinot Noir 2010 that one of my companions and I drank two entire bottles of was even greater! Guys, there were about 30 women there (all of them younger than my own four daughters), and all of them cute as hell. Only four guys that I remember, including moi. My point? If you're looking to have some fun and meet some fun-loving and playful women, Paint Night SF is the place to be, really. Too bad I've been married 47 years. So, so much fun. Casual, low key, and some peeps even painted something other than the assigned picture, which is OK. You'll leave with a real live painting, no matter how art-challenged you may be.
