After reading about famous Beef Jerky, I had to get some. Not to hate but what a disappointment! I've had many jerky's over the years and this is not very good. Kind of a strange flavor. Mahogany Smoked Meats in Bishop, CA is still the king and best I've ever had. They do have a nice selection of meats although my wife noticed the grey color on some of the steaks. This place is a gem. Moab is so lucky to have them! Very good quality meats (especially when compared to what the local supermarkets stock). The ground beef tastes great. It's always been a woman named Pat whenever we come in, and she's absolutely wonderful. Super friendly and helpful. Talks to my 6 yo like she's a real person. I was shocked to find that Pat was familiar with a rare allergy to amines, a by-product of protein deterioration. Their meat is hung to age the old fashioned way which I would think would produce more amines, but surprisingly, I had no ill effects from eating it. Whereas supermarket meat causes problems for me. They have all kinds of great products, like homemade and local bacon, sausages, yogurt, cheeses, nuts. And they give me beef marrow bones for my dogs, for free! Unheard of where I come from! My only (tiny) complaint is that they don't carry chicken on the bone. But they do sell whole chicken parted. And of course boneless chicken. Take a peek in next time you're in Moab, you won't be disappointed. read more

If you want to know where the best places are in a tourist town, all you have to do is find out which ones are open in the off season, that the locals support, and this is one of them. Not only do they have the best beef jerky I have ever had (if you buy Jack Links while you are in Moab, you are making a huge mistake), it is one of the best beef and game meat shops I have ever been to. Don't be fooled by the looks; you should stop in here for trail jerky, and if you are cooking back at where you are staying, you should looks at this place. I never miss an opportunity to stop by a butcher / meat shop in the middle of nowhere - aka huntin' country. My prime objective was to get some wild game to bring home. I got elk sausage, elk loin, and ground buffalo. After talking with the lady who runs the place, she asked if I wanted to try the jerky that she cures herself. Duh. yes! Had some samples across the board and had to leave with a 1/2 lb. If you are a road tripper or backpacker - you understand the value of beef jerky. This stuff KILLS anything you'd buy at a gas station and break your teeth on. It crumbles in your mouth and turns into a nice piece of meat. read more

Stopped by and picked up some steaks to cook while camping. I saw in the counter a tri-tip steak. I opted to try the tri-tip and my daughter opted for a rib-eye. Both were fantastic. Had a wonderful conversation with the owner about potato sausage (some thing from my childhood). Highly recommend anyone to stop in.
