I rarely add reviews unless it's something awesome so hats off to Ricardo @ Yea!Mac in Burlingame. I had another appointment on Burlingame Avenue and walked by Yea!Mac on the way to my parked car. I cracked my screen the ONE time I took it off to clean my phone and case while gardening and it fell on the cement in the backyard. I walked in without an appt in the early afternoon and Ricardo was able to fix it in under 30 mins! One of the best things was that he took the time to test it to make sure it worked before handing it back to me to walk out the door. It's like having a brand new phone again. They also buy your old or no longer used Apple products so I plan to check the iPad I don't use to possibly sell depending on the prices offered. I did the unthinkable. I spilled my cup of lukewarm tea onto my open MacBook Air (purchased 9 months ago, brand new). A quick google search prompted me to power down and flip it over for 24 hours. I thought I might have miraculously escaped any problems when lo and behold three days later I notice my computer won't fully charge when plugged in. After charging overnight, it was stuck at 44%. So I book the first Apple genius appointment I can get and rush down to the store where they run some diagnostic tests on my computer and charger and tell me everything is fine. No problems with the battery and an SMC reset is allegedly all I need. Once my computer hits 50%, the apple genius is confident I can head home worry-free. WRONG. The next day, I notice my computer stops charging again after being plugged in for a while. I called Yea!Mac and explain my situation on the phone and ask if I need to make an appointment (answer: nope, just come down). I arrive at the store and the owner (I think?) tells me he will take it apart and look for water damage and clean it up within an hour. One hour later, I return to the store and he tells me he found minor water damage (not even on the battery either), cleaned it up and fixed a wire that was affected by the water damage. I plug my computer in after getting home and it charged to 100%. The price? $25! I am so impressed and grateful for Yeah!Mac for fixing my computer. Although Yea!Mac doesn't have parts for computers until they are about 1 year old (because people don't have apple care anymore), they told me that if my computer still had issues to bring it back and they would try to work on being able to replace the battery if Apple refused. I have a dead 2016 MacBook pro. No power. I took it to the Apple store and they did a diagnostic, including bringing it into the back, opening up the computer, and disconnecting the battery to snoop around to see if they could see anything wrong. They even did diagnostics in front of me using another Mac connected to mine. They said it was most likely a dead logic board. Approximately a $700 repair. I didn't want to put that much money into a such an old computer, but I also didn't really need the features of a new one, so I decided to look for other options and came across yeamac. I brought my computer in and the man working the counter greeted me right away. I gave him a rundown of what I just said above about what the Apple store did. The man offered to take it in and do a diagnostic for $75. He said the $75 diagnostic fee could be applied to a repair if I decided to repair it. I was hoping to get a free diagnostic, as I didn't really want to put any money into this thing if I wasn't going to get it fixed, but I understand that a smaller shop needs to charge for such a thing compared to a giant like Apple. I chatted with the guy a little bit telling him more about the troubleshooting the Apple store already did. He offered to look up yeamac's prices for a logic board repair and replacement for me, which I appreciated. The repair was $400 something and the replacement was $700 something. After he told me the prices, I decided that it wasn't worth fixing and was getting ready to pack up. The guy at the counter said I could let him do some tests on it, that the issue could be the battery, which would be a much cheaper repair. I repeated for a second time that the Apple store had unplugged the battery and plugged the computer directly to a power source and it still didn't turn on, so that it was very unlikely that the battery was the problem. The guy said that he doesn't know how they could have possibly done that, because in order to disconnect the battery on this model you have to take the logic board out. At at this point, either the Apple store lied to me about what they did to troubleshoot it, or this guy was lying to me or simply didn't know what he was talking about. He was trying to convince me to leave the computer with him so he could confirm whether or not it was a battery or the logic board or something else. It's worth noting he wasn't being pushy or rude, just persistent. Keep in mind I would still have to pay the $75 diagnostic fee if I let him take a look. By now, I had gotten a little turned off to the whole situation because I didn't really think the Apple store would have lied to me about something so simple, and I wasn't really ready to part with $75 just to have them tell me the same thing the Apple store already told me. So I packed up and left. The first thing I did after leaving the store was go to iFixit and look up the battery repair for my particular model. Keep in mind I said multiple times what model my computer was and the guy had it in his hands so he could see it as well. Lo and behold, you do not need to remove the logic board to unplug the battery. So the Apple store was telling the truth about what they did. Do I think the guy at this place was intentionally lying to me? No, probably not. Do I think he should have confirmed what he was saying before asking me to pay him to look at it? Most definitely. Had I listened to him and given him my computer to diagnose it, I would have wasted at least $75. I know how a bad review in a sea of five-star reviews looks. I'm sure this place does great work and that they're generally an honest group. However, in my particular experience, I was given verifiably wrong information and was recommended to spend money for them to give me information that was already known. I worked professionally repairing Macs for about 5 years. It was a while ago, starting around 2010, but I still have enough experience to know what the right thing to do for the customer is. The folks at CleverTech were awesome today. I had dropped my old phone in such a way that half of the screen no longer responded to touch. Eep! I was lucky that I already had a new phone to transfer data to, courtesy of my partner giving me his phone once he upgraded. But I needed help getting my data from the old phone that I couldn't even log into now to the new phone. The folks at CleverTech got the job done, and they even were able to use a "temporary screen" to port the data over, so that I didn't have to pay to fix the old phone. All they charged me was $55 labor which is way reasonable! And they got it done fast - I brought it in at 12:30pm and it was ready and waiting by the time I came back at 4:00pm. They were friendly and quick and efficient and I am very happy with their service. I hope I don't have any more phone issues for a long time but if I do I know where I am taking it to be repaired. This is the place you're looking for for computer repair -- my water bottle leaked in my backpack, so my MacBook was basically sitting in a puddle for an hour before I discovered it. Dried it out over a couple weeks and even tho it was still working, just wanted to make sure the insides were ok (eg corrosion damage). Brought it in, and for the $75 diagnostic they took it apart and closely examined it for corrosion. In the process they also cleaned the computer's insides of dust and cleaned out the headphone and usb c ports which had some minor water damage. I had an issue with my phone pretty much dying on me while I was at the gym. I tried doing the usual restarting method and plugging it into my computer, but there was no luck there. I didn't have a recent back up so this was really stressing me out. I even went as far as downloading and paying for a software called "REIboot" to try and get at least my photos back (I was stressed...), and again, no luck there. I guess the next solution was to make an appointment for the Genius Bar with Apple as they were my last hope. All the did was run some tests and told me it wasn't turning on, and without AppleCare, they said they would replace it for $530 and all my stuff would be gone. Even the employee said he wouldn't recommend it if I was spending half of what I'd be paying for a new phone already. They recommended I go to a place called File Data Savers in Fremont, but that location was no longer there. I went to the one in Santa Clara. There was nothing they could do either as the phone wouldn't charge or connect to the computer. They were the ones who recommended me here! CleverTech was the only place who helped me, and the only ones who opened up my phone to check what was wrong! They found it was the display, and got it fixed really quick. Total time from drop off to phone fixed was probably less than 24 hours. Screen replacement for my iPhone 12 Pro + installation was only $210 total! Honestly, couldn't recommend them enough now. Update: 2/14 - I found out that they put an LCD display in instead of the usual OLED because I noticed the quality difference and such. I found another spot that was doing it for a better price and they ended up price matching them too because it'd be easier to finish the job with them! Paying and extra $40 to change from LCD to OLED! Not bad. read more

I'm going to go ahead and give this place 5 stars for being my mac data-retrieving savior. After spilling nail polish remover all over my Macbook Air and going through all the phases (shock, denial, anger, acceptance I was getting a new macbook), I came here after my Apple Genius Bar appointment. While the staff at genius bar at the actual Apple store are pretty helpful, they don't really help much with data retrieval if your computer doesn't start correctly and the keyboard was all messed up from the damage. They gave me a business card to a number that said retrieval would cost somewhere between $700-2300 (basically the cost of 2 new macbooks).That's when I came to YeaMac to see I could at least retrieve important documents. I basically just stopped by on a Friday afternoon with my computer. For $200 (if they are successful; free if they cannot retrieve the data), they literally saved my life and retrieved my files within two hours. I just had to pay extra for a portable harddrive to obtain my files in (which I will def use to backup in the future to prevent this whole mess). So with all my data back and my new macbook now, I'm giving this place 5 billion stars! read more

My iPhone 6 was having connection/charging issues so I requested a quote from CleverTech. I received a response from Ricardo in 25 minutes. Once again, YeaiMac (Will) to the rescue. I tried updating my 11" MacBook, and it got stuck on a grey screen everytime it tried to restart and update the computer. Anyway, brought it in and Will was able to get it done in less than a few hours. He also had time within the same day to fix my sister's MacBook air screen that was cracked. Super friendly staff and they are very informative when it comes to problems with the computer and even how to do certain things on these macs. For my 15" touch bar MacBook, Will told me to have Apple check it out because they would be able to fix it for free without me having to pay Yeaimac to do it. I went to apple down the street, and sure enough, they told me it would free of charge to replace my keyboard. How honest can you get? The Genius told me that my computer would be made obsolete in nine days, so when the problem reappeared, I thought I would have to buy a new one, which I could not afford. So, I limped along until one day one of my students told me she has her computers repaired inexpensively at Yea!Mac (this business's former name). I went to the website, filled in the problem description, and received a reply within an hour. I brought the computer in the next day. Not only did the technicians fix my computer, but they also noted and fixed some missing screws and loose parts that were causing other problems with the Bluetooth and videocamera. Topping it all off, they put my computer in a protective drawstring bag, which I got to keep. The techs respond quickly and are both friendly and thorough. The prices are fair. I recently moved to Sacramento; and started having battery issues along with the fan continuously running on my MacBook Air. I had plans to come back out to the Bay Area for a few days, and I decided to bring my computer with me to have Yea!Mac take a look. I had used them before and my overall experience has always been top-notch, especially their customer service. This time around, I'm especially grateful for their HONESTY. They did some trouble-shooting and explained that I might need a new battery which would have been $200. My laptop was old enough where I was probably due for one. This was news I was dreading as I'm currently on unemployment (like so many others). I got a call back and after a few tests with a new battery and then putting my old battery back in, my laptop was brought back to life! No new battery needed! Generally speaking, I assume companies like this would be honest, but I certainly don't take it for granted, as I've been burned before, from car dealers and other businesses. They could have easily just said that I need a new battery, pop it in, and then charge me the $200; and I never ever would have known. It's sad to have to call it out, but these days it should definitely be recognized when a business actually cares and does the right thing for its customers. In August, 2020, my Macbook started acting up and after a couple of days with Apple techs, I decided to go with Clevertech. They promptly picked up the Mac from my house, kept me updated on the progress of repairs, and dropped off the fully functional MacBook at my house, per the tight schedule. In April, 2021, after 9 months I had another issue with the same Mac, not their fault... they again picked up the Macbook and after repairs dropped it off at my house in 48 hours, with no additional charges. I was expecting an invoice. The 2nd service was after a gap of 9 months!!! The team's commitment to pick up and drop off per the schedule, be technically competent, provide polite service with no intention to overcharge  - compels me to post a positive review for them. read more

Understand that you will be charged a $55 fee regardless of if they are able to repair your computer or not. If they are, the fee is applied to the repair cost, if not, you will simply lose this amount. Unfortunately in my case, it was "sorry we tried our best there's nothing we can do" for my 6 year old Mac mini. In all fairness Apple does not make these machines easy or cost effective to repair, but as much as I don't care for the service at the Apple store according to them if they cannot repair the computer there will be no diagnostic fee, so that's something you may want to consider before bringing your repair in to Yeamac. read more

I brought my 2014 Macbook Air in last Wednesday (4/15). When I woke up, my laptop wouldn't take a charge and it wouldn't turn on. Tried SMC reset, didn't work either. Thank goodness YeaMac is still open during this quarantine! I called (they're open 10-4 PM weekdays), brought it in and they tested the charger and batteries and unfortunately it wasn't either of those issues. They said they had to test my mother board and it would take about a week and a half. I ended up getting a call only a half a week later and it was fixed! Turned out my SMC chip went bad and they replaced it. For work on the motherboard, it cost about $350. I'm happy to support places that fix existing products vs. just throwing things away that don't work and buying new consumer items. I'd definitely come back again.
