I decided to write a review because the service that we had could not have been any better. We were seated right away, but, they were still quite busy. Someone was there right away to take our drink order. The drinks arrived shortly after and we ordered our food. I ordered an omelette. Before my hot tea was done steeping, our food arrived. The food was good and our check arrived promptly. My credit card was picked up promptly and processed promptly. I've only been there once, but, our experience was very pleasant. I came in here just about 15 minutes after opening time on Sunday morning and the place had several people already dining. I was seated immediately and my drink order taken. After asking the waitress for suggestions, I decided on Florentine Benedict and was not disappointed, however the *possibly microwaved* poached eggs were a touch odd, though the yolks were still runny. The dish came deconstructed- the sautéed fresh spinach and mushrooms with chopped bacon were on the side, basically a hot greens salad, while the eggs sat on their English muffin halves, covered in perfectly crafted hollandaise. This all came with a side of grilled potatoes which weren't as crispy as I usually prefer, but were flavorful and satisfying. The fresh-squeezed OJ was a nice change of pace for me, and the coffee hit the spot, just the way I like it. If you're in or near Hammond, do yourself a favor and give the Bird a try. This is an excellent and cheerful breakfast and lunch cafe. I have only had breakfast there but can say that the service has always been good and the "Two to Tango" is delicious. It is two eggs on a tortilla with a different salsa on each egg and beans in the middle. If that isn't to your liking, the pancakes and waffles other members of my table had looked wonderful and fluffy and everyone enjoyed their food. My buddy and his wife and I stopped at the Yellow Bird Cafe for breakfast on the morning of Saturday, September 24th. I ordered the Florentine Omelette which consisted of spinach, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese. The order came with a side of toast and hash browns (cubes of potato versus shredded). When our waiter first brought my plate out to me, the hash browns were less than luke warm. I ate a couple of bites then communicated to him about what I had. He then brought me back an order of hash browns that were hot off the grill. I do not recall our waiter's name, but he was very good and attentive to our needs. The omelette was very tasty and gooy (but not too much) with the cheese. Big chunks of mushrooms, just the right amount of spinach. It was a very good omelette!
