Bad service. We waited an hour to not even get our food, waiter barely came around to check on us after waiting 20 minutes to even order drinks. We had 2 toddlers with us that were waiting along with us. He said that the food was downstairs on the table but 4 other tables that came after us got their food, and when we went down to leave after waiting so long there wasn't any food waiting to be delivered. We had a great lunch here following a hike. The decor on the inside and outside is precious and very well done. Really love this unique atmosphere. I was so excited to bring my Tolkien lover friends. There is a very "hobbit Shire" feel to the plants, furniture, and overall aura. The workers are very friendly and kind. They are excited to share their faith, but do so when asked and with understanding. They are also very kind to college students that live and attend school nearby. All of this and really exceptional food. I love the atmosphere - it's so homey with plants in every corner, calming music, friendly staff, and quirky wall art and tables. I notice something new every time I visit. There is never a wait due to the abundance of tables and rooms. I love that this place is open 24 hours 5 days a week - now in saying that, it should also be said that this is not a typical restaurant. When you walk in you sit wherever you want and the waitress takes your order and brings the food and then after that they tend to leave you alone. This is because they get a lot of college kids who come and stay for hours on end. It's not hard to flag down a staff member if you decide you need something else though. I personally enjoy that they give you space after you've been served. I like to come here to relax and paint or read. For all my fellow vegetarians out there, PLEASE do not miss the opportunity to try their veggie burger. I swear up and down it's the best I've ever had. Everything I've tried is really good ! The Deli Rose is my favorite ! My friend said their hot dog was the best she'd ever had. The smoothies are good - the different teas too. Fresh baked banana bread & sweets are good. There are individually wrapped pieces to take with you. The chips may be made by them - not that excited about chips. The food here is soooo yummy! Loved the sand which I got. The decor was also really cute! It looks like a little fairy cottage on the inside. If you go definitely ask to sit on the deck- it's super aesthetic. It's a great casual place to eat and chill. I absolutely LOVE the Yellow Deli. All through undergrad this was my go to place for those late night study sessions. It's perfect due to it being open 24/7 and the restaurant having some amazing sandwiches and drinks. first things first-- the service is very slow. it took about 15 minutes to get our waters which was a little bit upsetting, but the food came back pretty quickly afterward! My friends and I were passing through Chattanooga and decided to stop here for lunch and we are very glad we did! The inside reminds me of an adult's tree house. Really cool, great vibe. I can definitely picture myself spending hours in there studying doing work on my laptop. The food was awesome. I had the Deli Pesto sandwich which came with a pickle slice and a side of chips. The sandwich was awesome. I loved the pesto and I really like that they top the sandwich with sprouts. I feel like not enough sandwich joints use sprouts! I also took a brownie to go which was the best way to end this meal. It was probably the best brownie I've ever had. It was fudgy and rich but not too rich. It was chocolate chips and walnuts in it. Hippie! Now there's a word you don't see very often anymore! However, that is exactly what word comes to mind in this self described "Hippiecrit" environment. They are still living out the days of Woodstock here, complete with a nationwide church that follows the values of the hippie lifestyle. They even have pamphlets to take with you explaining their particular beliefs and an open invitation on their front door to come fellowship and worship with them on days the restaurant is closed. INTERESTING NOTE: They are open 24 hours a day 5 days a week. This is just another faction of the human experience looking to find their truth. FYI, you don't have to be a believer to eat here. I'm grateful they allow outsiders in, because it's quite the experience. ---------- THE EXPERIENCE This may be one of the most unique restaurant experiences you'll ever get to enjoy. I don't think I've been to a more interesting restaurant in my life. Nearly every aspect of this space has vast detail and well thought out quirky touches. You learn about their motto and lifestyles from the murals on the wall and I dare say many of the things posted are thought provoking. Seating is masterfully done. Each area having a unique feel but still being cohesive and connected. At first glance it appears to be tight, but I found our space to be quite roomy once we were seated. Rustic wood and hand-crafted furnishings abound, as well as a nice homey touch of indoor plants. The lower outdoor patio is perfect gathering space and the upper patio feels like you are having lunch in your favorite local gardening center. It is truly impress just how they have divvied up the space. All you bathroom freaks will find the non-gender specific restroom here a real delight. The iron work on the doors, windows and stairs will surely catch your attention, but by far the coolest thing EVER is the dumbwaiter that carries food via a pulley system to the servers on the second floor. I was just too tickled for words when I saw it was not just a novelty, but actually used several times an hour. ---------- THE FOOD So much food, so little time. I had to make an impossible decision and went with my gut which lead me to order the Reuben. BEST.DECISION.EVER. This corned beef classic was soul satisfying. I not only highly recommend it, I dare you to find better in the South. Included are chips. I'm not sure if they are house made, but if they were, they are the best house made chips I've ever experienced. The house made root beer is good, but has a aftertaste similar to diet soda. They also allowed us to sample their Green drink, loaded with all kinds of healthy stuff. Good, but not exactly what I was looking for on this day. It would have probably been outstanding if not for the grapefruit juice add as an ingredient to this drink. My wife had a Cranberry Cashew Salad while our other friends had Deli Pesto Turkey sandwich and the Garden burger with Tomato Basil Soup. Nobody in our group (except me) raved over their food, but all thought the overall experience was between 3.5 - 4 stars. ---------- FINAL THOUGHTS This was our last stop before hitting the road home after a magical visit to Chattanooga, Tennessee. I have little doubt we'll be back to this quaint little city and even less doubt we will be eating here again during our next stay. The simple, rustic, cabin-like atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The corn bread was sweet and buttery with a kick of jalapeño. I've always loved yellow deli, ever since my freshman year of college. I think that the study environment is great, and the customer service is pretty decent. Everything that I try on the menu, for the most part I like. I typically get the deli pesto and it's made my heart warm every single time. As far as drinks, I love to get the whole common ground. I think that they're pricing is pretty decent, you'll need about $10-$15 for a really good meal. The inside looks pretty nice but I also love the outside seating, especially on a nice summer is there. I recommend everyone in the Chattanooga area to at least try this place once. read more

Was visiting from California since it was late bout 12 midnight we were directed here. Wow, what an interesting place. Like you just dropped into a 70's Stevie Nicks video. Wood carvings, macrame plant holders carvings of wood elves. Very cool. And its run by a christian sect that fit in with the decor. As for the food...We ordered chicken sandwiches....probably the one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had....We sampled each others dishes and they were all great!
