You enter into a broad space with merchandise and tables with a counter of breads and dessert treats. The idea is to order and pay at the counter and to receive a number for your table. We didn't know and went straight to outdoor seating, which worked out because we got a table and about a minute later we figured out the ordering process. I ordered the chicken salad croissant for my wife, then the California club for myself and then I had to order quiche Lorraine for the table. I had filtered tap water for my drink and my wife had a can of Diet Coke with a slice of lemon and ice in a cup, provided. Service was pretty quick, between our order placement and table delivery it was 7 minutes. The quiche was custardy inside with a delicious hint of caramelized shallots to go with the bacon and cheese/egg filling. The bacon did not overwhelm. The crust was perfectly baked and a nice flakey crust. The accompanying arugula and onion salad dresses with oil and vinegar and seasonings was an excellent pairing of freshness with the richer quiche. This is a big hit, as expected when advertised on the menu as "available until sold out." The California Club was on 6 grain toasted bread with an avocado spread and aioli, bacon, turkey, tomato and lettuce. I really liked the balance of each component in this sandwich, such that nothing dominated the flavors and each distinctive was individually identifiable in the contribution to the whole sandwich. The portion was just right. The chicken salad was also good, but was the bronze medal winner compared to the other two. The croissant was flaky, but not too much. The chicken salad had just a hint of lemon and was not overwhelmed with aioli, just the right balance. This was a fantastic meal. We liked this so much, we chose to buy two loaves of bread to go, a Chattanooga Sourdough and a garlic Parmesan and also a 5 lb bag of in house ground bread flour. I need one of these in Greenville, SC, my hometown. Last thing to note, you bus your own table and there is a dish basin nearby the outside dining area in which to place your dishes. Stopped in because of all of the great reviews I saw about this place. We stopped in a little after they opened on a Saturday morning, and they were already busy. Parking wasn't too bad since we were there so early but there is only a little bit of paid street parking nearby from what I can tell. The woman who took our order was very efficient. We ordered and were able to get our pastries and coffees within 5 minutes. I got a chocolate croissant (my favorite), my partner got a cinnamon roll (his favorite), and then we each got one of their seasonal scones. I got the blackberry lemon lavender and he got the raspberry pistachio. We also ordered some of their seasonal specialty coffees. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the flavor of mine but I know I enjoyed it. My partner got one that almost made me think of an orange creamsicle - he was very pleased. I've been here only twice but the food and aesthetic never disappoints. When you enter you're greeted with neat merch and a wide variety menu with lots of coffee options and pastries. The staff is always so friendly and even though it tends to get crowded because the food is so good, you can usually find a spot to sit and enjoy your treats with both indoor and outdoor options. Everything is prepared with care every time we've been. We went early, and the line was surprisingly shorter than the last time we were there, which was around the corner the aesthetic both inside and out is charming. I was in town for a work trip, and this bakery was very close to my hotel. Stopped in the first morning and got a pastry, biscuit sandwich, and a hot latte to go. That was so good, I went back the second day and ate in. That day I tried their breakfast plate, and that was excellent. High praise for the bacon, which comes from the butcher shop next door. The fried potatoes were also great! I opted for their sourdough toast, and enjoyed it so much I got a loaf to take home when I left. Their coffee drinks are very good - I enjoyed my latte both days. Service was very prompt - you order at the counter and they will bring food to your table. I was there mid-morning on a Friday, and it was packed! It's a really nice vibe, with an outdoor patio and the indoor seating area. After eating here, I can understand why they were nominated for a James Beard award. Stopped in on a weekday afternoon while visiting Chattanooga. As mentioned in my Honey Seed review, I learned that I am not a fan of Montreal bagels, but I think I liked this one a little more than the other. I also got a chocolate croissant, which was yummy. I was a little concerned when I couldn't find the chocolate inside, but it was there!! My gf got a gingerbread cookie, which smelled so strongly but she said didn't have a strong taste. Niedlov's is such a great spot in Chattanooga! The space is cozy inside with lots of light and has an outdoor patio as well. It gets very busy (it's popular because it's so good!) and there's often a line, but at off hours, there's often seats. Here are some of my faves: Apple caramel danish (seasonal): amazing! Whipped cream and caramel on top, stuffed with apples and apple cream cheese inside Raspberry pistachio scone: perfect balance of pistachios and raspberry (to me, that means heavy on the pistachios!) Very natural flavors with big pieces of pistachio within the scone. Gruyere bacon chive scone: buttery, savory, delicious Pistachio stick: laminated pastry, light with a pistachio frangipane and cream inside Cruffin: I tried the cookies & cream one--moister than others I've had and delightful. They change the flavor every week, I think. Brussels sprouts: This became a regular lunch for me (bacon, Brussels sprouts, ranch); tossing it in ranch dressing is genius English muffins: So plush and fluffy! Soaks up butter really well. Delightful! Miso kale and shiitake skillet- delicious, savory, and cheesy! Loved it--great depth of flavor The sourdough bread is also great! The Friday night pizza was delicious as well, although quite oily. Honestly, you can't go wrong with the menu here--I only wish I'd tried even more things. On my recent adventure to Chattanooga, my friend told me that I had to try Niedlov's Bakery, and it was truly everything it was described to be. I was hesitant when we arrived, seeing a line out the door and around the corner. However that line moved so fasts Nied did amazing getting people in and out. They had a huge selection of merch that was themed perfect to their mission and goals. The "We're all bread inside" design was probably my favorite. For meals, I got the Niedlov's Breakfast and my friend got the Ham and Gruyère Skillet. I loved what I got, but when I go again I think I will try a skillet because they all smelled amazing! I also got a Gruyère Bacon Chive Scone and a Orange Pan Suisse to take on the road. Both were outstanding. For my drink, I got one of their Blueberry Basil Matcha. I was a little nervous about the basil, but I can genuinely say it was my favorite drink of my entire trip. Lastly I want to say a special thank you to the staff. We thought we weren't going to be able to find a table, but when we found one at the last second, they actually offered to switch my meal to a skillet since they can't do those to go. Absolutely loved this cafe to bits! It had been on my list for a while now and I finally got a chance to visit. There was a wait because it was a weekend but it wasn't too bad. I ordered the seeded sourdough, a sourdough sandwich, chai, a cookie (whose name I'm forgetting) sweet and savory scones. Everything was was crazy delicious! So glad I had time to go to this bakery on my way out of Chattanooga after the Ironman. I loaded up on pastries and by far my favorite was the raspberry croissant. I got the last banana monkey bread, almond croissant, and chocolate croissant. Croissants are soft and easy to bite into...if you like those kinds of croissants (my husband). I prefer crispy outsides and more filling - there could definitely be more almond paste and the chocolate batons were only on the left side if the chocolate croissant - wished it was even/there was another baton on the left side. Texture of croissants reminded me of the texture of Costco croissants rather than from a french bakery. The banana monkey bread was good, but didn't get any banana or cinnamon flavor. I'd read wonderful things about this place and I was very close by, so I thought I'd pop over to grab a treat for later since I'm not in Chattanooga too often. Parking is a little challenging but I managed to find fairly cheap street parking (though it did require me to back my car into the spot and I couldn't stay for longer than I wanna say an hour - that was an adventure lol). This is a busy part of town with a decent bit of traffic, limited crosswalks imo, and some new construction obstructing some of the sidewalk, so the walk over was a little challenging too. I was rewarded with a cozy cafe atmosphere. There also appears to be a beautiful patio outback. It was fairly loud inside so if I'd stayed I likely would've chosen the patio. Service wasn't unfriendly but it wasn't super warm either; you order at the counter. No one was ahead of me and so I walked up. The employee said hello and I greeted her back and said I was sorry but that I might need a minute to decide. Her only response was a smile I can only describe as pitying, which is kind of funny in retrospect. I decided I didn't really care for the sound of any of their coffee drinks, so I settled for some pastries. Unfortunately, the selection was quite limited. I understand that's partially on me as it was fairly late in the afternoon (I wanna say around 1-1:30ish), but I was still a little bummed. I got a peanut butter and jelly pastry and, on a whim, a rye chocolate chip cookie. I took them both home to share with my husband for dessert after dinner. I was most excited for the PB&J number but it was only okay. I loved the creativity of the idea but it just didn't hit the mark for me flavor-wise. The pastry was light and flaky and had lots of nice buttery layers, but there wasn't much jelly at all and the peanut butter notes had a very...not burnt, per se, but kind of earthy and dry vibe, which I didn't love. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't order one again. The sleeper hit, however, was the rye chocolate chip cookie. I was skeptical because I'm not huge on rye but I'm glad my whim was rewarded because this cookie was delicious. Soft and chewy, slightly crisp edges, rich chocolate, and the rye gave it an almost banana-bread like nuttiness. It was so good! Would definitely get this cookie again. The miso-kale and shiitake skillet was outstanding--deep umami flavor, a beautifully melted layer of cheese on top, and perfectly toasted crostinis on the side. It's one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. The coffee was bold and flavorful, and the cranberry pistachio scone I grabbed for later was excellent, packed with real pistachios and lightly iced for just the right touch of sweetness. The only downside is that the parking lot is paid and runs you $3 for a two-hour minimum, but the food more than made up for it. A fantastic visit all around. read more

We also had a bacon, chive, Gruyère scone and a raspberry pistachio scone. Both were good but would have been better a little warm. Husband said his latte was decent but not the best he'd ever had. We didn't realize they had complimentary coffee by the waiting area. We went at about 9 on a Tuesday morning and the place was packed. Staff was moving at a good pace. I'm not sure about the other ones but the rustic salami sandwich was enough for me to go down to 3 stars. Good soup but bad sandwich so idk. Unfortunately, we came by in the afternoon when they were completely wiped out so we decided to try again the next morning. When we arrived around 10:30am - on a weekday mind you - there was a line out the door. We didn't wait too long and boy were we glad we braved the cold. The staff and the food were phenomenal! We got pastries to take with us (almond croissant and rye cookie for the win!) and we had the most delicious egg sandwiches. The coffee was perfect - and served in a real mug. Our only complaint would be for other patrons... when there's a long line... don't sit at a table before you order - it mucks up the whole system and leaves people with food with no place to sit when you haven't even ordered yet. (Places like this in other cities - like NYC - have staff who coordinate using table markers to ensure you don't wind up with people sitting before they've ordered while people with food have no place to go.) read more

Did an overnight in Chattanooga and we loved this place!! We went for their Friday pizza night and ended up coming back in for breakfast the next morning. All their food was amazing! The pizza was solid and had such a nice combo of flavors. The meatballs were delicious as well! In the morning it was hard to choose between pastries since they all looked delicious so we tried 4. We especially loved the Cruffin pastry!! All the staff were so kind and friendly and with our 2 kids, made it a wonderful experience all around. There's indoor and outdoor seating. In the evening there is a host to seat you, but in the morning it was a seat yourself style. We were there around 8:30 and there was a long line but we only waited 20-30 minutes. There is some street parking and a small parking lot to the side. There was one open table inside (dirty), and a few were open outside. I wasn't sure how long they'd take to make a breakfast sandwich (I saw a lot of people waiting around), so I opted to try their ready-to-go baked goods instead. I got the bacon scone and a oatmeal chocolate chip cookie for later. I had originally planned to ask for recommendations since it was my first time, but the person helping me seemed very uninterested in being there. I didn't want to bother. After paying and adding a tip, the worker grabbed my items. I kindly asked if my scone could be warmed. The loud sigh and eye roll was shocking! The worker seemed so inconvenienced but begrudgingly put it in a toaster. It was very off-putting. I also ordered a mocha to drink, which was average. You can stand by the side as you wait for your order. The lady who gave me my drink was not friendly either. It was very odd how unwelcoming and unkind everyone was. My scone surprisingly was not warm (even after the awkward encounter of requesting it to be), and the inside seemed underdone. The main flavor came from the buttery & salty layer on the outside. Overall, it was lackluster. My cookie was nothing special. Nothing bad but not one I'll crave to go get again.
