Yellow Dog Brewing is another Canadian brewery that Steve and I got to try on our recent trip up north. It was long overdue that we knocked out some Canadian breweries on my list so it felt quite accomplishing trying out some. For Yellow Dog we had the Chase My Tail Pale Ale which was quite good! Flavor features in this beer are hoppiness, floral and with a clean finish. The beer is smooth and is light bodied. I'm not 100% how I feel about this brewery. They had many high top tables, mostly on wheels, with stools. Allowed for people to share tables even though they were from different parties. We ended up getting food either from the food truck outside or from a different brewery and bringing it back here to eat. Some decent decorations but most of the walls were bare wood. The cleanliness of the place wasn't the greatest either. read more

Took a turn on Brewery Row and stopped first at Yellow Dog. This place can get crazy busy but wasn't too bad this afternoon. I love that they offer a lot of dark beer choices, Vancouver seems to love their IPAs so sometimes the stout choices are slim. Not today! The Smoked Porter was amazing! read more

The heat was broken so it was pretty cold inside. The beers were ok and atmosphere pretty fun and lively!

We tried to get in Saturday night. They told us they had one table for people with dogs. One end had someone with a dog and the other end did not. I wished they would have reinforced that you must have a dog. Since that is the only table you are allowed to sit with them. A little disappointed we couldn't sit in the backyard patio. But they do not want dogs in their turf. Which I understand, I wish they had more than just one table to accommodate us and our two dogs. We did find a spot here Sunday afternoon after trying a couple other breweries first. Meet some really friendly people. Plus for that. We ended up taking home some beer and getting a shirt in honor of our yellow dog we recently lost. read more

Best brewery on the strip, great staff, great atmosphere and amazing beer! Nice that they have added some cocktails to the mix

**Review is for my indoor experience in March, prior to indoor dining closing** I came here post-hike with 3 other friends Saturday evening and it was pretty crowded. We got in line a little after 5:30 and didn't get seated inside until close to an hour later, around 6:30. They don't serve food here, unless you count some small snacks, like chips. Luckily, there were a couple of food trucks parked outside, and they let you bring outside food in. On the day we came, there was a food truck serving pizza as well one serving poutine, burgers, sandwiches, and tacos. We ordered the food while waiting in line. There was a long wait for food as well, we didn't get our pizza until almost an hour later when we were already seated inside. The space inside is quite large. Most of their tables are larger ones that are good for groups of 6-7. I believe there is some outdoor seating as well in the back, but I didn't check as we got seated indoors. The beer menu is quite extensive. The other 3 folks in my group all opted for beer flights (any 4 beers of your choice for $8), while I tried the two ciders on their menu ($6-7 each). Both ciders were refreshing and went well with the meatball sub I ordered. We were here eating and drinking and chilling for almost two hours. It's a great hangout spot to come to with your friends! One last note - they sell a lot of their beer to go as well. We noticed a lot of people buying packs as they were leaving. My friend really enjoyed the Retriever Golden Ale from his flight, and got a 4 pack to go for $12.65. read more

I finally made it to this brewery. I had tried the dead dog ipa prior to visiting and I knew it was good .I ordered a flight of 4 beer - squirrel chaser hazy pale ale, high 5 hazy ipa, coconut porter and the botanical ipa. They all were good; however, my absolute fave was the squirrel chaser. It was slightly hoppy, not too high in alcohol and crisp. The service was good, efficient and friendly. They also have four-packs you can purchase (no single cans). If you don't want a 4-pack, you can order beer to go in a growler. They are very reasonably priced - $4 for a one liter growler and $4-5 to fill based on what you get. You can buy snacks in store, like bkh jerky or salami n cheese packs or chips. Outside the shop you can get food from a food truck. Tacofino was outside, so I got the fish taco and fried chicken tacos from them for $6.50 each. They both tasted good, but I especially liked the fish taco. It hit the spot. They are good-sized/large tacos, so one is enough to fill you up if you're drinking beer with it. read more

This is definitely an eye opener for me. I always thought this is a pub but its not. Its a beer tasting place/venue. They have a different license than pubs and that means that you can bring kids, grandma, grandpa, babies, husbands, boyfriends, wife, girlfriends, dogs, cats and etc. The list can be super long. I came here along with my Yelper friends and I did have a sip of the beer. It was quite refreshing. The place is so lively. I highly recommend this place if you are a beer drinker. Also they do have 1 non alcoholic drink on the menu. Unfortunately on the day that I showed up, they ran out. So sad. Oh well. The location of this place is very convenient. Its close to a skytrain or walking distance to a skytrain. Also there are many parking spots out front. Only thing is that its in Port Moody! read more

This place just keeps getting better and better. They've now expanded and are now twice the size as before, after taking over the adjacent space. There are now even more brews available, and so far everything has been very good. The space behind the building really is something special, especially during the summer evenings when they turn on the strings of (Christmas?) lights. The only thing to watch out for back here is the occasional train that passes by the property. Those things are loud. This place is my go-to for the area, with Parkside as runner up. My absolute favourite brewery on the strip!! They always have polite and hard working staff, an incredible inside AND outside decorated with whimsical lighting, games, the occasional live band and oyster bar, the best clothing attire and most importantly the best beer. Does that get any better ?! It is always a super fun and social environment regardless of what day of the week or time of the day. They sell bags of chips for snacks, and usually also have a food truck outside if you're craving something heartier. I'm a sucker for the pop up oyster bar. This is also definitely one of the liveliest breweries on the strip later in the evening, try to check out one of the live bands if they are playing! My favourite beers are the chase my tail pale ale, take a walk wit, and the golden retriever ale. Regardless though, they are all good and the flights are great if you want to try more. Highly recommend if you are in the area and the wait is worth it if there's a line out the door!!! read more

If you're looking for a good beer and a place to fit a larger group, you've come to the right place. Yellow Dog was bustling at around 5pm on a busy night, but a group of 5 of us still managed to snag a table in the back. The music was a bit quieter in Yellow Dog than other breweries, which made for good conversation. Partway through our stay, they opened up an oyster bar in the back, which was surprising. Next time we'll have to try that. Anyways, enough of the atmosphere, how were the beers? I had the "Shake a Paw" smoked porter and my girlfriend had a coconut porter, and they were both solid, but nothing to write home about. The smoked porter went down very smooth, and had a pleasant taste (that wasn't all that smoky), and the coconut porter had just the right amount of cocounutty sweetness - noticeable, but not overpowering. I wasn't as much of a fan of this brewery as I was of Twin Sails, but I would come back to find seating if I was with a larger group. read more

Rocky Point park's parking lot is right across the street and there's some other street parking at walking distance. The skytrain is also at walking distance. This is one of my favourites on the strip for local brews. Always a good time. Been here a number of times. Maybe it is the neon Labrador sign? Ambiance is simple low budget type construction. Looks like they spent the big bucks on the neon sign and menu displays. No harm, it works. Warm comfortable interior. If that doesn't suit you and you want a tan, you can go to the outdoor patio. 9/10 Da beer. This is personal. After having couple of flights later, I know what I like from their collection. Fresh and good flavouring. 9/10 Price is average. Seems everyone on the strip charges exactamondo. 7/10. Just average value. Service is okay. Not all staff members are created equal. Some are great, some are terrible. On their social media or in scratchy cat-like moods. For god's sake if I want to warm up to a cat, I would go to Black Cat Brewing (not that it exists.) 6/10. Fantastic selection - the High 5 Hazy IPA is one of the best I've had! The tasting room gets really busy as they have a 110 person capacity in the main room. Service was incredibly friendly - from the bar service to the the folks at the front, monitoring capacity. They have light snacks available for purchase at the bar (chips, jerky, baked good). However, for something heartier, there were two food trucks (Mexican and pizza) out front where you can bring into the tasting room at your leisure. There are a few board games available to play near the self-serve water station. There's one washroom near the entrance and two more just around the corner (to the right when you enter). Walkable distance to and from the Moody Centre Skytrain station. read more

I was never a fan of Yellow Dog in its first few years in Port Moody. Location was cramped, and beers were pretty standard. I would have given Yellow Dog 2 stars back in 2015. Fast forward to the present, and Yellow Dog has created a wonderful Craft Beer environment. Spacious and fun area to try a Flight of Beers. New Collaborations keep things interesting, and there are some fresh selections in case you get cravings for Snacks. Service is friendly and prompt. Place can get packed on weekends. Parking can be a problem immediately outside the location, but there are many nearby options. Highly recommended. read more

It's been a minute since I've been back in Vancouver, so I decided to visit yellow dog brewery. located just off Rocky point among other breweries along Murray st in Port Moody. The space is includes adequate seating inside and out. The beer selection was great and I highly recommend the blonde ale.. so light and so good. I tried their sours and their IPAs that were on tap during this time. All were distinctively different and were priced decently. I haven't got much to compare yellow dog to, so my opinion should be pretty objective. The day was fun and the staff were lovely. We were here on a sunny Monday in July afternoon and we were immediately seated at 6:47pm. Menu is on their website. We were asked to refrain from walking around as much as possible. Takeouts are allowed. The flights are chosen and priced by each beer. Table service only. The place has a lot of outdoor seating in the back and we were fortunate to sit outside and tan on the final hours of the day. We waited until 6:49pm for our server. She came by with a tablet to take our order. Since we know their core taps well, we decided on a guest tap and a seasonal tap. Server came back with beers in 2 mins. Beer notes as follow: - Take a Walk Wit ($5 for 12oz): light wit with a medium hop. Not much else though. - Passion Project Passion Fruit Wheat Ale ($5 for 12oz): passion fruit can be tasted - not so strong that you are just drinking juice, but strong enough that you can taste it throughout your sip. 1st Yelp review! A small family owned brewery in Port Moody. It's not like your Main Street type place... It's an open warehouse and seating for the tasting area is either in front of the serving bar or *** in their beer garden, out back!!! *** Bonus points for the outdoor seating!!! Good beers, very well priced. You can openly see their tanks as you walk past them to get to the back garden. Extra bonus points: I didn't see a single bearded hipster or hipster wannabe. Have to admit tho, the tasting area is not as 'interior designed' as the Main St places. Why only 3 stars? Had to get the gentleman a attention to serve me a the bar even though it was plainly obvious we just walked in + tasting room was not as trendy as some other breweries. We will be back! read more

Went there on Saturday afternoon. Luckily we got in early so didn't have to wait for the line. It was getting packed around 2-3 ish. I asked for taste four light beers, 6$ which is fine. Personally prefer WIT. Although it's called yellow dog and they have a big wall that picture a dog, dogs aren't allowed to get in. Cool brewery in Port Moody. We really enjoyed the beer tasting flights we tried! Loved chillin on the spacious outdoor patio, complete with live beer hop vines and umbrellas on the picnic benches. One of my favourite breweries along this strip! The theme is absolutely adorable! As you guessed, I love dogs :) The beer have punny dog related names, and the serving flight racks are bone shaped! Okay, I'll stop raving about the decor. The beer is very tasty! I'm very into dark beers, especially during the winter. Something about them gives me comfort! The smoked porter is an absolute must try, one of my favourite smoked porters by far! Also check out the nitro one, smooooth beyond words!!!! Great place to unwind after a ruff day. Came here on a friday night to meet some friends to try some local brews. When we first got there it was super busy and there was a line up out the door. When we finally get into the building the girl at the door was saying how the building is at "max capacity". Yet our friends already had a table and were waiting for us with a few empty seats. Once we get inside there is absolutely no ventilation so it gets quite hot in there. There are also no waitresses so you must help yourself with a self served bar. Each of the breweries here in Port Moody have their own personality and reasons why I return. For Yellow Dog, they're the original but they also do great porters and sour beers which are my favourites. Their smoked porter has won awards but their coconut porter is also really good. Their gose this summer was something to remember but this winter they've followed it up with a great cherry bruin as well as two raspberry porters. One by Brett and one, not. I got mixed up but one has a stronger porter taste while the other has the dominant raspberry sour taste. Really depends on your taste what you prefer, for me I would say it depends on my mood as it's a blend of two of my favourite types of beer. To me this beer was like eating a fruit filled chocolate. Again some people hate these and others love them. They recently opened their new tasting room. It's open and airy. I love the look. It's always super busy so I know the neighborhood and beyond love it too. One of the few places that stock BKH jerky (the best!). read more

They have no problem keeping dogs in the small area outside at front and I consider the neighborhood safe. I often buy yellow dog beer at the liquor store, so I knew I would like things here. I had a delicious sour, on a sunny patio. Despite the view being of the train tracks, it has a great patio vibe, string lights, corn hole games etc. of Brewery row, we spent the most time at this place. Saw an oyster bar, props for offering something no one else is, big props we are tired of pep sticks and chips haha! I couldn't ding the brewery for this, but honestly, the patio was mayhem with unsupervised kids literally running amok. Our table was in a far corner and toddlers as young as 3 would run past and we would cover the corners of the table as they toddled and sometimes fell (thank goodness for mulched covering!) 10-20 feet away from their parents tables. There were parents absent mindedly getting sloshed everywhere while their kids ran around with swords nearly taking out people walking with flights from the interior. It's not the breweries fault, but it was joked that this place was a licensed chuck e cheese. I'll come back, but sit inside as there weren't random kids running and screaming inside. read more

Yellow Dog Brewing Co is one of the microbreweries in thePort Moody (Tri-Cities). Across the street is Rocky Point Park. Next to it is Twin Sails Brewing and Parkside Brewery. Port Moody really is the place to be. This area is finally growing up with local beer, food trucks and a common hangout area for adults. This strip on Murray Street is now hip yet still very family friendly. At the park you can still order fish n chips, ice cream cones at Rocky Point Ice Cream, kayaking and green grass to play on. There isn't a lot of seating inside the tasting room however there are picnice tables in the back. It's like hanging out in your own back yard. Yellow Dog Brewery offers a variety of selection both on tap and for growlers to go. There are conventional brews and seasonal flavor blends. My favorite stays true to their Sour Gose and the Apricot Saison. The Sour Gose promises refreshing tastes with bold flavors. The tartness is more vibrant and sharp. It goes so well with a bag of Hardbite Jalapeno chips! read more

Yellow Dog Brewing is my favorite brewery in Port Moody. Located across from Rocky Point Park, it's a fantastic place to enjoy a pint. Yellow Dog Brewing offers a great variety of beers, ensuring that everyone will find something they like. My absolute favorite is the Sit and Stay ISBA. I also like their Chase My Tail Pale Ale, and their Play Dead IPA. The brewers also make a lot of limited release batches, so there is always something new to try. In terms of beer servings, you can get a tasting flight of 4 beers for $5. The tasting flight comes in this adorable bone shaped paddle. You can also get a glass of beer for $5, or a growler fill for $12-13.50 (depending on which beer you choose). There's also a few fridges on the left side containing a bunch of cans and bottles of beer available for purchase. The bottles range in price from $4 (1 L) or $6 (1.89 L). If you're hosting a party, you can also rent a keg. My husband and I rented a 50 L keg of the Sit and Stay ISBA for an open house, and for $300 ($200 for the keg + $100 refundable deposit) we got all of the equipment we needed. There was also no rush to return the keg, which was appreciated. We only had to request the keg a few weeks in advance. There are a few sitting areas to enjoy your beer at the brewery. There are a few tables next to the counter, a few tables by the brewery entrance, and (my favorite) a huge outdoor sitting area in the back of the brewery. The sitting area is full of huge picnic tables and faces the train tracks. You can enjoy the sitting area at all times of the year, since the brewery has umbrellas, blankets, and heat lamps available. Overall, I really like Yellow Dog Brewery. I have to say that I'm pretty excited to FINALLY have a microbrewery in my 'hood! This facility is right across the street from Rocky Point Park and on pretty much any commute to/from my house, so it's an easy place to stop for a growler fill on my way home/out for the evening. The owners are SO nice and the few beers they're producing so far have been getting better and better as they progress in their brewing. Also, they've put a lot of thought into their brand, with all the beers having fun dog-themed names and even offering tasting flights in fun bone shaped holders. There is a cute backyard area with some comfy chairs and picnic tables where you can enjoy a beverage on a sunny day (and even bring your own snacks, if you feel like it) and the inside area has a cool/industrial vibe. Currently they have three beers on tap (an IPA, a Pale Ale and a Wit that's perfect for warm summer days) and we've gotten to enjoy a few casks at local establishments as well. Their brewer is formerly from Parallel 49 and he certainly knows his stuff. Highly recommended and how can you not want to support a cool new local small business?!? read more

The outdoor seating space full of picnic tables and adirondack chairs is magical. Beer garden bliss if you will. There are always dogs back there doing a bit of chillin' and illin' too. This place is also right along the railroad tracks which adds a little je ne sais quoi, AMIRITE? The beer is very tasty, the inside has a great industrial vibe, you can get beer to go, and they have a lot of swag if you're into that. The names are adorably dog related and the beer bats are in the shape of bones. SHUT UP IT'S SO CUTE I DIE. But damn. The service both times has been teetering on the side of dickish. I was in a good mood so I dicked back, but sweet jesus. I am here to buy your beer, if that displeases you, maybe you shouldn't go to work. Or out in public ever.
