I really enjoyed the tuna taco, and both my partner and I had pork belly as our top choice. The server was excellent. The place itself has a nice vibe, but I have to say kudos to the bathroom - haha. I've been to Taps & Tacos twice now and had pretty good experience both times. It's a small space but has tables downstairs and upstairs for seating. Food: very delicious and good portions as well. I love how they have some GF/DF/Vegan options as well so this makes it easy for those who need it to still be able to enjoy the cuisine. Service: wonderful service. I had order 4 tacos (1 not pictured bc I ate it): Ahi Tuna, chorizo, pork belly al pastor, and cauliflower. This place isnt what I would call authentic but their flavours were quite innovated. The tacos were very yummy. There were 2 sauces on the table: a salsa verde (green) and a hot sauce (red) . The hot sauce was VERY spicy so please beware hahah. We got some tacos and a burrito. The tacos are 4" wide and they have a variety of toppings/meat that you can choose from. They have option of 3 tacos ( $13 ), 4 tacos ( $17 ) or 5 tacos ( $21 ). They have some tortas and burritos. We got the korean bbq burrito. It was packed and a good size. The roasted pineapple gave it a nice and different flavor which was interesting as I never seen pineapple with korean bbq meat before. The pickled cabbage and slaw gave a good crunch to it. Surprisingly it worked. For the tacos, we got the beef, chicken, pork belly and tuna taco. Most of them were good. The tuna one was a little odd. The tuna was good but the wakame didn't fit as most of the taco is soft but the wakame gave it an odd squishy texture. I can understand that they wanted to keep a 'seafood' theme for this tuna taco. Maybe because the wakame is pickled that it has an odd texture almost a little slimy. Don't get me wrong, I love seaweed but this one was a bit different. After a long afternoon hike, my girl friend and I found this place on a recommended list and decided to give it a try. The place was pretty busy on a Sunday evening and there seemed to be a long wait but we asked how long for a table for 2 and only had to wait 5 minutes. It was quite a bit warmer inside the restaurant than outside but meant we just needed a nice cold drink. My friend decided to order 3 tacos and I ordered 4 tacos with a Queso Fundido to share. The Queso Fundido was served in a nice hot bowl and while good, tasted salty pretty quickly. I had the Al Pastor pork belly taco, tuna taco, Korean BBQ pork taco, and the braised beef taco. The braised beef taco was completely stuffed with beef and the meat was incredibly tender. Flavour was good and a solid taco. The Korean BBQ taco was also great with a sweet tangy spicy Korean sauce - was a great explosion in the mouth. The Al Pastor pork belly was also really tender but quite wet in sauce so was extra messy to eat but the fresh charred pineapple really elevated the flavour profile. My favourite taco is the tuna - the seaweed came pickled and the flavour profile was an explosive party in the mouth. It was a surprising taco and the best tuna taco I ever had! I had been there once before, after hiking at Minnekhada Park last summer, and was happy to be going back. At $6 a taco, their 6" corn tortilla tacos are a good value. I grabbed a Chicken Achiote Torta ($13) and devoured the handheld in record time. Incredibly flavourful and great ratio of ingredients to bun. Whenever I'm in Port Moody during lunchtime, I love coming here. There's plenty of seating, both on the main floor and in the loft, and the industrial space is open and well-lit. As for the food, I am a fan of their ceviche and yellowfin tuna tacos. The ceviche is served with perfectly crisp tortilla chips and is great for sharing; the yellowfin tuna taco is fresh, has a good ratio of fish to taco shell, and has the right amount of sauce (not too much that it oozes all over your fingers as you eat it and not too little that you're left disappointed). When it comes to drinks, the staff are knowledgeable about all the local beers they offer. Furthermore, the waiters and waitresses deliver great, hospitable service. Today, my server refilled my water glass every time he passed by my table, even though one of those serve-yourself water pitchers was there. More and more these days, I'm finding servers are skimping on the water refills, so this was a gesture that I appreciated. Between Taps & Tacos and Tacofino, which remains popular among Vancouverites and whose wait times aren't getting any shorter, I would definitely choose the former. I figured I owe it to Taps and Tacos to update my review based on my last few visits. I visited Taps and Tacos when it first opened and I was very excited about the concept - tacos and local beer, yum! That being said, when it opened a few years ago I was very disappointed with the tacos itself. It seriously lacked flavor and was exceptionally bland. How could MEXICAN food be bland?? Back in the day the tacos werent even served with a lime wedge which would be a small component that could seriously boost the flavor. NOW however, they have revamped their menu (thank god) and i'm a fan!!! I love their smaller sized street tacos, especially on traditional corn tortillas. They have really developed their flavors with different meats that have been stewed/roasted for long periods of time, paired with flavorful toppings such as fruit, sauces, pickled or fried toppings, and yay a lime wedge! I also really like the salsas/sauces they provide on their table. I am in love with the carnitas based on how flavorful and saucy it is. I recommend coming for happy hour if you are interested in great deals for the street tacos! I love ordering one of everything, and then second round more of what im feeling that day (again usually the carnitas!!). Originals is still my all time favourite in the area (family owned mexican restaurant down the street), however Taps & Tacos is definitely worth a visit. read more

Food is solid. Loved their shrimp ceviche - fresh crunchy shrimp with lots of vegetables. I only wished it was a bit spicier but I really enjoyed it. The Asada, Carnitas, spicy shrimp tacos were all good - the red enchilada was also good (really well cooked pulled pork) but I thought it was a bit salty. We were a group of six and they refused to sit us together because of "fire hazard"- I have never heard something more ridiculous in my life!!! I was in the area and decided to try this place. The host said the wait would be around 30 minutes and wouldn't let us put our name down unfortunately since we wanted to go to another bar while we waited. When we got seated, we ordered a bunch of drinks, tacos and burrito bowls. The drinks were average priced but they weren't very good. I tried a mojito, margarita and some vodka lemonade cocktail and they were all subpar. The tacos weren't bad but again not the best either. I think it's a nice place and the atmosphere is fun but I wouldn't come back here for the food. This place is vegan friendly!! I think I had the best vegan burrito I've ever had here (better than any other Mexican place in Vancouver). Yes that's a big call but it was creative, filling and full of flavour with every bite. Thank you so much chef! There are also some vegan tacos available too which I plan on getting next time. I live in Toronto now, having moved from Vancouver about a year ago. Upon my return visit to Vancouver, I had a list of places that I wanted to visit, and this was one of them, given that I used to live just down the street. I had heard mixed reviews about this place, but when I was back in Port Moody, I decided to give it a try. I've been to many places in the area, and I was excited to give Taps & Tacos a try, despite the mixed reviews. My friend and I were in the area, and after having had a beer at Parkside Brewing, we decided to venture over to Taps & Tacos for some food. Upon arrival, we noticed the place was not very busy. Only two or three tables were occupied. I didn't think much at first, since this was a Monday night, but perhaps the lack of patronage was an indication of what was the norm here. We sat down, and after about five minutes, a server came over to ask us what we wanted to eat/drink. We ordered a couple of beers and they were brought out not too long after that. We had a look at the food menu, but our server seemed to have taken a vacation after bringing our beers, and didn't come back until maybe 20 minutes later. When she did come back, we ordered our food, and that came within about 15 minutes. Not too long in my experience. However, when the server came back for a quality check, we tried to order a second drink, but were advised by the server that we were "too intoxicated" to serve. When we asked for an explanation, given the fact that we'd already been served, and were not "too intoxicated" at that point, the manager came over and gave us some half-assed explanation, saying that we were 'slurring our words" and that she couldn't serve us. Given the fact that the manager (or even the server) had minimal contact with us at that point, I'm seriously shocked and dismayed that this was the conclusion that they had arrived at, without having a proper conversation with us. I attempted to ask the "manager" what the problem was, but she seemed extremely uninterested in having any kind of intelligent conversation, as she had already arrived at her own conclusion as to our level of inebriation at that point. I'm completely disgusted at the way my friend and I were treated at this establishment. We were in no way too intoxicated to serve, nor were we causing any kind of disruption of any kind. Had we been "too intoxicated" to serve, surely this would (or should have) been established prior to us ordering our first round of drinks, or even our food, given the lengthy delay between the two events. Not only will I never return to this restaurant, but I will strongly suggest to any of my friends in the area NOT to dine here. I would rather drive 30-40 minutes to Vancouver (or any surrounding city, for that matter) for tacos and beers. In fact, I recently had Mexican food at one of the food trucks near the breweries in Port Moody and their food was significantly better, with much less attitude. I surely hope the owner of Taps & Tacos is aware of the ridiculous assumptions & accusations made by the staff and/or so-called "management" of his/her restaurant. I have never in my life been treated so poorly by any restaurant staff in my life. I will make it a point to never dine here again, but I will also ensure that my many friends and colleagues in the area give this place a miss. Too bad, considering the food wasn't that bad. The prices are exorbitantly priced, but that's another topic entirely. If you want good Mexican food, try Originals down the road. read more

I moved into the area a year ago. I've walked by this place a lot in the last year wondering when they will open. All the signs they had on their window said Spring 2017. The local newspapers said once the Evergreen line opened. Spring 2017 came and went, the Evergreen line is fully functional and taking passengers to and fro their destinations. Taps and Taco's still had their signs up, until Canada day long weekend. Was it worth the long wait? Was it worth the long hour wait they had after my Fiance had put his name down. Yes. The meat was provided by Urban Meat Craft butchery across the street from Taps and Tacos. They serve beer from the brewer's row - all except Park Side, but they have Strathcona and Dageraard on Tap though. I thought it was weird that Park Side wasn't on tap. Most local business in the area support each other. $6 for a taco, seems a bit steep until you see what you get. For the amount you pay, they come fully loaded with meat and veggies. Enough sauce on the soft shell taco so it's not dripping down your hand while eating it. For those who can't handle their spice they included a rating out of 3 telling you how spicy they are. In my opinion, it held true. I can't handle my spice AT ALL. $6 beer for I think it was 14 oz seems reasonable to me. The dining area is small. Some of the tables were close to each other. It looks like they tried to maximize the seating in the dining area. I was slightly confused as to why they didn't seat people up stairs. It looked like they had seating available, unless that was a reserved area for employees or they had that entire upper level booked up for someone. Great find! Open and airy despite no patio-- didn't need one here. Amazing twist on " street tacos" ... and reasonably priced. Happy hour menu a nice mix of the " usual fare" but done so much better than "usual. " The back of the house excelled in both flavor and eye pleasing presentation. Their margaritas were very tasty and a happy hour special .. dried lime garish and only half the rim rough salted- nice touch as some like it salted- some don't. We went last night and have mixed thoughts. We arrived at around 8:30 and were immediately seated. They were out of about half of the beers on their menu, no big deal we found something else to drink. Their menu is literally Tacos and 3 appetizers. We each chose 2 tacos to try, and waited for their arrival. When the tacos came they looked great, there fillings were flavorful but there were a couple problems, the tortillas which appeared to be house made were under cooked by a fair bit, edible as we were starving but undercooked none the less, the "should be hot parts of the tacos" were room temperature at best. Now being a new place some of this is forgivable but no one came and checked how our meal was, brought us water, checked on our drinks... if they had, maybe the meal experience would have been better because they would have had the opportunity to fix up the Tacos... I've eaten a lot of tacos, these tacos flavors were great but the tortillas and temperatures need major adjustments. That coupled with the service leaves me wondering if I'd go back or even recommend it to friends. 3 stars is generous I'd say 2.5 would be accurate. read more

However they decided to recently up their prices and slash their happy hour menu to only include the small tacos which are now $.50 more expensive. What originally was an amazing happy hour special where my wife and I would easily eat enough food to be full and happy while spending $60 on food and drinks has now become a farce!
