We ordered the beet salad as a light side to our sandwiches. If you like earthy flavors, this salad is for you! Had a lovely time at Yellowbelly! Space wise I like that it's open and bright, good for people watching, but not entirely overstimulating and you can still have a reasonably toned conversation with a friend. I tried their double cheeseburger and honestly it may be the best burger I've had in the STL area, albeit pretty pricey at 16$ no sides included. I went for the beef-fat fries and wasn't thrilled for the price, but nothing was bad. My friend had the breakfast potatoes and those were perfect! Otherwise the staff were really nice. Their cocktails didn't wow me flavor wise, but their presentation was definitely fun and I love the tiki aesthetic making a limited comeback. Definitely worth a try! read more

Had a fun experience at Yellow Belly overall! We ordered a variety of small plates to share across the table, and my standout favorite was definitely the spicy shrimp ceviche, super flavorful and fresh. The drinks were also really good and definitely on the stronger side, which we appreciated. The decor and overall vibe inside are really cute and trendy, making it a great spot for a night out. That said, the service was noticeably slow. We ended up getting our drinks at the same time as our first round of small plates, and our waiter wasn't as attentive as expected for a restaurant at this price point and atmosphere. One other downside was the bathroom situation, I tried going twice and there was a line both times, which took away from the experience a bit. First time coming here to try their burger (after having it saved for so long). It was pretty busy but we got seats at the bar. I also got a drink for the cup - Escape from Black Cat Mountain. The miso onions add a deep, savoury flavour you don't usually get on a burger. It comes with two patties (which is a lot for me but I ended up finishing it). The GF bun has a slightly less flavour than brioche-style buns but it wasn't dry. The fries had a rich flavour from the beef fat (gives it a bit of a steakhouse-level savouriness). It's crispy on the outside but still fluffy inside. The portion was generous too. Overall, the vibes were great. There's lots of seating in the back as well but like I said, it was pretty packed. Street parking is ok, but if you're like me and that stresses you out - just know there's a little garage with the bank that is pretty cheap to park at. Now, onto the important stuff. The food is great. The drinks are well crafted. There's something for everyone here. Love happy hour. Fries are delish. Chicken sandwich and coconut shrimp are bangers. I've been to Lazy Tiger a lot but haven't explored Yellowbelly a lot. Came here late on a Saturday and were able to snag a reservation online. They have an amazing food and drink menu. It's the same as Lazy Tiger for food and unique drinks. I recommend the street corn taquitos and the coconut tiramisu!! I got the kiwi mojito (it has a cute name I just don't remember) and it was SO GOOD! Today we tried the beef fat fries and the ceviche, both were amazing, and got the tiramisu to split. We all enjoyed it all. Our waitress was amazing! She was super helpful with answering our questions and recommending great things! She was very knowledgeable about the menu. I will definitely be coming back! Parking isn't always super easy in central west end but it's worth it to come here. read more

We started with the beet salad - citrus and picked beets - so good! The Cesar was great too, just more classic. Grilled salmon skewers are a must. Went to yellow belly for dinner on a Wednesday! Make a reservation no matter what day you go; they get super busy. We went to check out their happy hour menu. For my girl dinner, I ordered the painkiller, and the frozen pornstar martini, and their French fries. Let me just say their French fries are TO DIE FOR. Also a super good portion for $5. My boyfriend got the chicken burger, coconut tiramisu, and a dessert. All of which he said was super good. We made our reservation for 5 right when they open and I will say until they're busy all the waiters just stand near the bar, and there's a large amount of them. This took away from the ambiance for me personally. Since there was literally 6+ people doing nothing but standing near my table for at least 20 minutes. This unfortunately brings my review down to 3 stars. Other than that it would've been a perfect five. read more

The atmosphere was perfect for a girls night and the staff was super welcoming and offered lots of recommendations when asked. So, I've tried the sister restaurant Lazy Tiger but did not know that they shared a kitchen so the menu is the same, only the cocktails are different and the ambience is more bright and airy. Food: House Made Kimchi (chef's selection for the day was a Persian kimchi made with cucumbers). Fabulous! A fun take on kimchi with heat and the cooling cucumbers. Grilled Salmon Skewers - Man! This is how salmon should be. Deliciously glazed and perfectly grilled. The papaya salad was equally as impressive. It had a great crunch and perfect amount of heat. Brussels Sprouts - To die for!! I could eat this every day. So we did try this at Lazy Tiger and liked it but I don't remember it being THIS good. Must try!! Vegetable Fried Rice w/ Pork Belly added. Wow! A generous portion of fried rice paired with petite diced pineapple, chili crisp and topped with pork belly. The pork belly here is the absolute best. Melts in your mouth and oh so delicious. A little sorry we didn't get the pork belly small plate too...you're going to crave more! Warm Mini Lobster Roll - I was excited for this but was so disappointed. There was no flavor. I was hoping for a butter drizzle or kick of spice but no. Very underwhelming, especially for the price. Too boring for this place and not a good representation of what Yellowbelly has to offer. I've been meaning to try Yellowbelly for years now, and I'm very glad we went. The inside decor is super fun and all of the employees wore Hawaiian shirts. They also have outdoor seating as well. Since they are known for their cocktails, we started off with the Violet Mojito and Champagne Ramos. Both drinks were excellent and presented well. To start we ordered some small plates - Nashville Hot Oysters, Cheddar Biscuits, Crab Fritters, Mini Lobster Roll, and the Brussels Sprouts. We also split the Moroccan Spiced Grouper. Overall, we enjoyed all of the small plates, especially the oysters and biscuits. The grouper was more on the dry side and needed some sauce. We would probably skip that next time and try a burger instead. The next time we visit, it's definitely going to be to check out their Brunch or Happy Hour specials. read more

My favorite dish was probably the brussells sprouts - the green apple kimchi went so well with them! The salmon skewers were good but teeny tiny..I loved the papaya salad on the side. The biscuits were okay but the crab fritters were disappointing. For a place that clearly has a talent for pairing flavors togethe, the honey mustard dipping sauce for the fritters really missed the mark. Had a fantastic date night at yellow belly. We were seated outside on the patio within 10 minutes and our server was still very attentive going in and out of the building. Sometimes with patio seating, servers can be "out of sight, out of mind", but our service on a Friday night was incredible. We started with the salmon tostada and Nashville hot oysters, both an absolute must that we get every time we are here. Great starters with great crunch and flavor to set the meal. For our mains, we got the seared scallops and the short rib, with the chili glazed pork belly to share. The pork belly was alright, very tender, but it's very similar to a bulgogi bowl. My scallops were seared perfectly and went very well with the corn grits they were served on. My partner's short rib were melt in your mouth tender. Great plates all around. There is a public parking garage next door or you can street park if you are lucky enough to find a spot. Atmosphere is cozy with dim lighting. It was a little noisy making to hear everyone at our table of 6. The menu is very eclectic with a variety of very creative food choices. I went with the fish skewers (on menu as salmon, however, this night was halibut). Beautifully plated with a small side of slaw (? Not sure what to call it? Kinda pickly) Sauce was tangy with a little heat. Very good. Also, had the brussel sprouts. Very good! For dessert, my husband and I split the Pineapple Upside Down Bread Pudding. A must try! Yellowbelly has been on my list for awhile, and what better time to go than NYE? It's no wonder they often don't have reservations open, this is a very intimate spot. They like to keep the tables some distance apart, less crowded, and give the BEST service. It was insane how fantastic their service was all night long! You did as much as look their way and they were at your table. Everything came so quick but at the perfect time, like they were watching you and your body language for cues! They are very good at what they do. This is a luxury experience at a fraction of the cost. The atmosphere is very welcoming and clean. A cool fusion feel, with the decor and food being a good match - Hawaiian and Korean maybe? Either way, the owners have good taste. I loved that the bar was the centerpiece of the business and you can see almost everything going on. The drink menu is really awesome. We're not usually vodka drinkers but we're super amazed at how much run forward their menu was! Not a vodka drink in sight which is rare for STL! Lots a great options, and some good wines too. The food. Woah. Everything we ate was top notch. The shrimp in the shrimp ceviche was SO fresh. The brussel sprouts were cooked to a crispy perfection.
