We had a fantastic dining experience at Scout's! I made reservations a couple of weeks ahead of time since the place is quite popular. When we got there, we were seated immediately in the dining room. They do have a lounge area by the bar with some comfortable seating arranged for socializing. Our waitress came shortly to take our drink orders. We ordered our beverages which came quickly. I had a light Tuscan red wine and my husband had a cocktail. We started with some carbonara arancini - bacon, parmesan, black pepper and egg yolk. Delicious and great serving size. We also ordered the roasted cauliflower with curry yogurt, raisins, cashews, mint, and ginger. Perfect flavor and the cauliflower was prepared just right. For my entrée, I had the chitarra (pancetta, shallot, lemon, asparagus, sweet peas and white wine) and my husband had the radiatori (red pepper bolognese, ricotta, black pepper). Their menu said they make their pasta in-house so we had to try them. We were not disappointed. The pasta dishes we ordered were both delicious and very flavorful. For dessert, I ordered the Dubai chocolate cannoli. Instead of the traditional pastry dough, they used kataifi which is shredded phyllo resembling vermicelli noodles, stuffed with ricotta and pistachio, edges dipped in Dubai chocolate and more chocolate drizzled all over the cannoli. It was a delicious spin to the cannoli. I would absolutely get it again. Delicious food, wonderful service, no complaints from me. I cannot wait to come back. If you haven't been yet, you need to try Scout's!

Came here for the first time with husband and friend we loved the restaurants vibe! Staff was amazing and appeared to work together seamlessly. We tried a variety of the apps and each got a main dish- we finished off with the carrot cake, which had a unique spin, was light and fluffy.

The food at Scout's is SO freaking good! Also excellent service and cocktails. The smoked old fashion is perfection. We got the meatballs, sourdough with burrata, hummus, Caesar salad and two of the pastas. This is one of those restaurants where everything is good and you can't go wrong with what you order so it's hard to pick a favorite menu item.

Awesome first time at Scout's! Standouts were the service, chopped salad, and pastas! Great ambiance and cool vibe inside. Will definitely be back soon!

Man Oh Man. I would have skipped over this one if I knew how loud it was going to be. Unfortunately I could not even enjoy my fun date night because I could barely talk to my partner about the week. He was so obsessed with the noise that he downloaded a decibel meter on his app and out table was at 90 decibels. There are several small things a restaurant can do to help with this situation and they have done none of them. Service was very good, 0 complaints. Food, we got the sweet & sour meatballs, roasted cauliflower, and we split the gnocchi entree. Both of our small plates had raisins in it which I did think was funny. The meatball plate was my favorite of the three. The roaster cauliflower had a delightful sauce underneath and the veggie had a great color to it, added mint and dill, I enjoyed all the flavors together. The gnocchi was dry and not very saucy, which is not what I was I expecting but they had a good flavor. We probably won't be back though.

Dinner with my husband last weekend. I made sure to have a reservation. We were seated pretty quickly when we got there. The menu was a decent size, not too big or too small. Decided we wanted to try a bunch of different things so we ordered a bunch of food to share. Started with the carbonara arancini and the chopped salad. Arancini was delicious and had great flavor. Salad was a good size and well balanced. We then got 2 small pastas to share, the gnocchi and the radiatori. I will say the radiatori was def my fav dish and was a very unique shape. We rounded out our meal with the salmon, which was a crispy outside and was delicious! The food was amazing and all came out warm. Ambiance was nice. It looked a lot smaller on the outside than it was inside. Was happy I got a table because the couch seats didn't look ideal for eating. I will def come back specially for the radiatori.

Absolutely delicious meal. Lovely server. The "untraditional" gnocchi was really tasty. Chef makes all pasta from scratch at the day's beginning. The carrots were cooked perfectly. The piping hot flatbread served with the harissa hummus was on point. The arancini carbonara with egg yolk was incredible and a wonderful meal start. My only complaint was how dirty the bench was where we were seated! Still not going to keep me from giving this 5 stars.

We finally made it to Scout's and wow! We had an amazing experience. Both the restaurant and bar area were beautiful. My friend even said "you don't even feel like you're in STL right now". We ended up staying for drinks after dinner because the sitting area in the bar was just so warm and inviting. Now for the dinner portion... First, I want to start with our server. Areena was so helpful and kind and we loved having her as our waitress! One of my friends has a lot of allergies and she went above and beyond to help make sure everything was allergy friendly. We are incredibly grateful for all of her help and recommendations! Speaking of those recommendations, the food was amazing. We started with three small plates: The Charred Cabbage, the Sweet Potato, and the Carrots. All of them were delicious and perfect split between three people. For dinner, we ordered the flank steak, salmon, and gnocchi. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend it all. Thanks for an incredible evening. We are so lucky to have you in STL!

First time trying Scout's and it won't be our last! The vibes are immaculate, the drinks are phenomenal, and the food is delicious. As a vegetarian, my options were limited but I still left feeling full. Highly recommend the fried artichoke and the sweet potatoes to start. The sweet potatoes had such a surprising flavor profile with the orange that paired so well. For my entree, I got the gnocchi which was bouncy, spicy, and perfect.

Scouts is a new restaurant with a promising future. Our server told us they intended to expand their small menu as they settled into their business. We had a reservation for 7:15 on a Thursday and we unfortunately sat next to a large floor to ceiling window. If we had good weather it would be wonderful but given the biting winter cold, I was freezing despite the faux fur blankets they generously draped over every chair in that section. Our server was so kind and made us laugh by rhyming her name! She was attentive but not overly so. She recommended the sourdough and the arancini, both of which we got. Now the important part. The arancini was tasty and lightly fried. My date enjoyed it immediately, and while I thought it was delicious, it reminded me heavily of loaded tater tots. We also got the whipped ricotta with homemade sourdough. WOW! The bread was the star! It was sliced and lightly toasted with (I suspect) butter, giving it a delightful crunch and rush of flavor as the cool creaminess of the cheese balanced out the fattiness. As for our meals, I ordered the charred cabbage. Cabbage is my favorite vegetable, so I enjoy the flavor and texture. This is a half head that is charred and topped with a rich, creamy, slightly spicy sauce with sunflower seeds. I enjoyed this dish immensely and was full after eating one quarter. The bucatini was delicious. I think it would be fair to describe it as a cacio e pepe with thicker pasta. He ordered a full dish intending to take some home, but it was not enough leftover to really box up. With the price of full order, we expected to take some home (but this is upscale dining, so idk if that's a fair critique).

RUN HERE - DON'T WALK! Seriously, this place is incredible. From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. The service was outstanding, and every staff member was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. They just opened, so you'd expect a few hiccups, but there were absolutely none. Every bite felt like a work of art. Each dish had layers of complexity that went far beyond what you'd expect just from looking at it. So often, restaurants rely on beautiful presentation without delivering on flavor, but not here. The dishes were stunning and the flavors were even better. Truly tenfold. This is the best restaurant I've been to in a long time. The vibes were immaculate: moody, cozy, and perfectly curated. An unforgettable dining experience from top to bottom.

Great food, great service. Arina was our waitress, and Eliot the owner came and checked on us. The BT Daiquiri was EXCELLENT. Sweet and sour meatballs were very tasty. I thought the Dubai chocolate cannoli was fantastic too. We'll definitely be back.

This place is incredible! I made a reservation Sunday evening and even though I arrived before they were officially open, they still let me in. This was day three of their soft menu, but they still had plenty to choose from. I sat at the bar and Emma was my server. She was friendly, polite, and gave great recommendations. Although I was hungry, I wasn't famished, so she suggested getting a single arancino, a half size of the bucatini, and then see how I felt after that. I'm glad she suggested the smaller sizes because the portions are designed for two people and to be shared. The arancino came first and was a great start to the meal. It was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of crisp; not too hard but right where it should be. She waited for me to give the go ahead before sending back the bucatini. It was a nice touch as some restaurants usually have it timed for the entrees to come at a certain time. Even though she asked, there was no lag and I got my food in what seemed like record time. While I initially wasn't going to drink, I decided to get a glass of prosecco to pair with the bucatini. The first few bites of my bucatini were even better than I had hoped. The sauce was creamy but not too much. It was as if the texture was velvet because of how smooth it was. I noticed there were sesame seeds throughout the dish and while I didn't understand before I got to try it, it def made sense after a few bites. The sesame seeds were little bursts of flavor and It accompanying the pepper, pecorino, and sauce was a hit! My glass of prosecco was refreshing and paired well with my dish. Don't be fooled by the smaller portions because although I only had one arancino and a half size of pasta, I still left full! The vibe and ambiance of the restaurant is classy and sophisticated, but with a touch of urban flair. I felt like I was in Brooklyn for a second because of the decor, the energy, and how relaxing the atmosphere was. Again, I was beyond impressed from the professionalism and knowledge of the staff, to the exquisite detail of the food and beyond. I can't wait to come back and try more!

I literally live a 4 minute walk from here and have no idea why it took me this long to check it…read moreout. I took my boyfriend here last night for his 24th birthday celebration, and boy did it exceed every expectation. When we first arrived, we were taken aback by the waterfall feature at the front door. We genuinely thought we were at the wrong entrance. Turns out it was entirely intentional, and in the excitement of the evening, we forgot to ask about the story behind it. A fun little mystery to solve on our next visit. We arrived about 30 minutes early and were welcomed warmly from the moment we walked in. The staff gave us a lovely intimate table with a great view of the restaurant's eclectic decor and designs. The ambiance struck the perfect balance, lively and engaging without being so loud that we could not have a real conversation, which for my partner and me is genuinely one of the most important aspects of a dining experience. Since we both work incredibly busy schedules, this was not only a birthday celebration but our first proper date night in quite a while, and the atmosphere made it feel truly special. The staff even surprised us with a complimentary prosecco for the birthday, something we were absolutely not expecting and deeply appreciated. On the drinks side, although I am not personally a big drinker, my boyfriend loves exploring new spirits and cocktail combinations. The bartenders were fantastic: knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely enthusiastic about their recommendations across both wines and spirits. They made the whole experience feel curated rather than transactional. Now, let me tell you about Jelly. Our server Jelly was, without question, the highlight of the entire evening, and that is saying a lot given how spectacular everything else was. I have a severe pineapple allergy, and if you dine out with food allergies, you know the usual routine. The server writes it down, maybe glances at it when the food arrives, and you spend the whole meal quietly hoping for the best. Jelly was on an entirely different level. She went completely above and beyond, meticulously checking every food option and wine pairing to ensure nothing contained pineapple and that there was zero risk of cross contamination. When a wine bottle did not clearly list its ingredients, she did not guess or assume. She looked it up on the internet right then and there to confirm it was safe for me. That gesture might sound simple, but for someone with a severe allergy, it is everything. It communicates that she genuinely cared about my wellbeing, not just about getting through her tables for the night. I felt completely taken care of, safe, and able to relax and enjoy myself without the anxiety that usually accompanies dining out with an allergy. Jelly, if you ever read this: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are exceptional at what you do and an absolute asset to Blood & Sand. And now, the food, which was nothing short of breathtaking. From the presentation, to the pacing and timing, to the extraordinary depth of flavor on every plate, the food at Blood & Sand is spectacular and amazing in the truest sense of both words. My boyfriend and I had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. We had originally hoped for the 10 course, but it was not being offered that evening. No matter, because the 5 course delivered more than enough to leave us completely floored. The evening opened with a palate initiator of carrots, goat cheese, and walnuts. I will be honest, I was not excited. Carrots and goat cheese are genuinely two of my least favorite foods on the planet. But I gave it a try and it was absolutely heavenly. A perfect encapsulation of what this kitchen does: it takes ingredients you think you know and transforms them into something you cannot stop thinking about. My absolute favorites of the evening were the tuna carpaccio, the wagyu flank steak, and the pierogis. Each one was cooked and composed to perfection. Everything melted in my mouth and left me wishing the courses would never end. My one constructive note is on the oyster course. I love oysters and eat them often, so I was genuinely looking forward to this one. The portion, two very small oysters with modest accompaniments of horseradish, a small salsa, and lemon, felt a little light even by tasting menu standards. I would love to see either four oysters at that size or two larger ones. It was gone so quickly and felt slightly out of step with the generosity of every other course. That small note aside, Blood & Sand delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had in a long time. Every single person on that floor, from the bartenders to the host to the incredible Jelly, went above and beyond to make the night comfortable, fun, intimate, and genuinely special. We will absolutely be back, and next time I will not wait so long given that I practically live next door.

    30. The place was pretty empty/ maybe 3 other tables while we were there. (that's a bad sign)…read moreWe originally had reservations for 8 but one person couldn't attend so we arrived with 7. The menu had printed that the 5 course tasting menu was only for parties of 6 or less. We inquired knowing it may not be able to happen since we had 7, but it was worth a try since it was just one more person. The waitress said she would have to ask the chef to see if he could do 7 instead of 6..... she came back to inform us that the chef was not able to accommodate this request. Ok, fine. A rule is a rule, but there were only 3 other tables in there the entire time we dined. I love music and a good vibe but the music was so loud over our table we could hardly hear each other speak. (90s Cranberries at that).... The cocktails and apps were the only good part of the meal, but $25 for one cocktail is a stretch unless I'm in Vegas or St. Barths. All of our main entrees were overly salted- like so salty we all commented how salty each of ours was. I had the pasta. Good flavor and creamy but too salty. No decaf coffee. I've never been to a fine dining restaurant that doesn't have decaf for an after dinner drink. Strange. Then it was time to pay. There was a noted 3% credit card fee. We paid with cash. The waitress attempted to say she didn't think she would have change because "there was no one working that had to cash to break our bills." Really? No one has cash at a restaurant? Must be next door with the decaf coffee and dinner music. The cherry on top that leads me to write a negative review (I am in my 40s and can never recall leaving a negative ereciew) The friend that made the reservation just found a $200 charge to her credit card from this joke of a restaurant. Ends up they charge the card you make your reservation with $25 per person and supposedly take this amount off the bill when you pay... we paid with cash and then they still charge the card. I'm well aware hardly anyone pays with cash anymore, but people still do. Be ready. Everything about this place screams closing in 18 months, poor quality control in the kitchen and no owner/management oversight.

Hidden Gems in St. Louis -- and darling, the name is not exaggerating…read more I had the absolute pleasure of attending a birthday celebration here and let me tell you... this place is a vibe, a moment, and a whole sparkling experience. The space is intimate, stylish, and perfectly appointed -- the kind of place that feels like you've stumbled into a secret little jewel box in the city. It's cozy in the best possible way, with an atmosphere that invites laughter, celebration, and maybe just a little fabulous mischief. The bartenders? Absolute pros. Warm, welcoming, and clearly masters of their craft. Naturally, I ordered my classic gin and tonic, and it was perfection in a glass -- crisp, balanced, and exactly what a proper G&T should be. I heard from the birthday boy and his wonderful wife that the owners were incredibly accommodating, and you could feel that hospitality throughout the entire evening. Everything felt effortless and welcoming -- the kind of place where people clearly care about creating a great night. And then... the party truly began. We had drag queens serving glamour and joy, music, laughter echoing through the room, and pizza delivered from the birthday boy's favorite local pizza spot that honestly deserves its own standing ovation. If you want to know where that pizza came from, drop a comment -- because it was outrageously good. By the end of the night I couldn't stop thinking: this place really is a Hidden Gem. A perfect little pocket of St. Louis where good drinks, great people, and a bit of fabulous chaos come together. Sparkle-tastic. Gem-tastic. Pure joy. The upstairs lounge is perfect if you want to hang out with friends or just take a break and rest your feet for a bit. I absolutely love that space and how comfy it is. One of the biggest perks of Hidden Gems is their back room, which allows them to host events and fun pop-up experiences. I've been to a few, and most recently attended the "Taylor Swift: Bejeweled" experience. The space was decked out in all things Taylor, with every era clearly represented. Giant friendship bracelets hung from the ceilings and lined the walls, which was such a fun touch. And of course, there were plenty of photo ops with my close personal bff, Taylor herself! The drink menu was themed to match the eras, with tons of creative options. My friends and I tried several cocktails, along with a few NA options as well. I really appreciate that they offer non-alcoholic drinks as I've been cutting back on alcohol over the past few months, and it's nice to still have fun choices that actually taste good! The Mirrorball was easily my favorite drink of the night. It tasted just like an orange creamsicle and was served in a disco ball...so good and so fun. My last drink of the night was "So Long London," which was almost like a dessert in a glass. Highly recommend ending your night with that one!

Not a ton of seating and it gets kinda crowded depending on the night. There is a dance floor and their events are a great time. Very open minded, positive atmosphere.

We arrived a little after 11 and found a space in the back parking lot. The lot is convenient as it's pretty well-lit and is diagonal from the CF. We entered through the back where the deck is and walked right in. Upon first glance, you'll notice the hanging lights above the entrance and then after a few feet, the bar is immediately to the right. The tables are all along the left side as to make a walkway for the bar (super convenient). Due it being their anniversary, it was a bit crowded but not too bad where you couldn't get a drink or walk through. My usual go-to is a flavored vodka (three olives grape) and sprite. While they had a plethora of spirits, sadly this wasn't one of them. They had other flavored vodkas but I opted to get a simple Cosmo while my friend got a makers and coke. The Cosmo was just what I needed and might I add, well made! After we got our drinks, we did a quick walk through of the other side called The Oddities (coming soon), as well as the upstairs that overlooks the entire place. The stairs are steep, so it would behoove you to hold on to the railing. While I love trying new places, I was a bit apprehensive because I thought I'd stick out like a sore thumb. Turns out, everyone was friendly, the drinks are great, and the music wasn't bad! They had different acts going on for this particular evening (I'm not sure if this is the norm), but I know my friend is a regular on Tuesday's for karaoke. I do intend to come back and try out some more drinks and food and check out the other place once it officially opens.

The staff were incredibly welcoming, which for me is always the biggest indicator of whether I'll enjoy a place. I arrived during their daily Happy Hour (4-6 PM) and ordered the crab dip with homemade crackers, while my friend tried one of their cocktails. Everything tasted delicious, and the staff remained very attentive throughout our visit. I was also impressed by the cleanliness and the interior design. I noticed a beautiful mural on the wall and later learned it is a portrait of one of the owner's mothers, how sweet is that? If you're thinking about stopping by this new downtown spot, don't hesitate! My only feedback is that the entrance can be a little difficult to find as the signage wasn't very visible to me, but that's it. Highly recommend!

They were just opening up for the evening and it took a few minutes to get served, but everyone was super friendly and I was impressed by the design/vibe inside. I ordered the strawberry rhubarb pie mixed drink which came with a little side of dessert. I loved the drink itself but the fruit in the dessert was definitely past its prime and I ended up eating around it. We also got the wash ave flatbread for the table. We all loved the crunch of the giardiniera on the flatbread and it was a great plate to split for the table. I do wish prices were included on the menus just for visibility. Would definitely stop in again to try another drink from the menu!
