We stayed for a bit while on a road trip. What a welcome place to stop for a while! There are huge cottonwoods all over the campground- so it's got a real nice look to it and a lot of shade. The whole place was clean. The family that runs the place seems to take good care of it. They were helpful and nice. Bathrooms were in good condition, showers had great water pressure...there's nothing bad I can say about the place! read more

The only good thing about this park is that it's literally the only place in Billings that accepts German Shepherds. Other than that, it's absolutely terrible. When we got there, we were surprised by the $750/month winter rent that only included wifi and electric. No laundry facility, bathroom, showers, and the hot tub and pool were closed for the winter. The lady told us that rent would increase to $795 at the end of April/beginning of May, which wasn't that big of a deal, especially since we didn't know if we would even be there that long. In March, they posted notes on everyone's doors as a reminder about park rules, when the facilities were going to open, and the upcoming rent increase. We had paid rent for March, and then they told us we needed to pay an extra 45 to cover the 795 because the rent increase went into effect as soon as the letter went out, which was super annoying because we were told, when we got there, it wouldn't go up until the end of April/ beginning of May and they also didn't even have the laundry facilities open on April 1st like they had said on the letter. The ladies in the office are extremely rude and need so learn a thing or two about customer service. The park rules are also pretty unrealistic and annoying, especially for people who have a dog. You aren't supposed to tie your dog up outside your trailer. On days that were really nice and I wanted to do some cleaning, that was even more annoying to have to keep her inside with me. There's also a rule that you cannot have your dog in RVs by themselves in a kennel. Which is pretty impossible if you don't want to spend a fortune on boarding and you have to work. read more

I totally agree with Jayne. The campsites are way too close to each other. The site space is so small, that once we opened our awning on our camper, we were unable to park on the side of our camper, so we had to park our vehicle in the road. There is very limited bathhouse facilities and the pet areas are extremely small. Granted the place was extremely clean. I never saw any mess in the bathrooms or the laundry room. (by the way, it cost $3 to wash ONE load of clothes) We stayed at another campground on the drive up here, The Oasis in South Dakota, which was way cheaper, the site areas were HUGE and there was about 10 private and large showers in the shower house. Guess you don't always get what you pay for. read more

Pictures on their website are definitely staged. They show space between the campers but in actuality the sites are so close together that I thought I might hit the RV next to us when I left. Couldn't believe the price was so high for no room. Heard the KOA next door was nicer so did a quick drive through of it. Looks much nicer and the price (at least what I've seen on the web) is about $10.00 a night cheaper than we just paid. KOA had poured area's that has chair swings on it for each of the "cheaper" full service sites. Our last night at this site we had "neighbors" come in that decided they needed their outside speakers going after 11:30 at night. If both of us had our pull-outs out neither of us would have been able to walk between our campers without feeling like we were in a maze. Laundry room was nice. Bathrooms were dirty on our first night there but a little cleaner the next evening. Staff was friendly but one person on the phone taking reservations and answering questions made for a long wait to check in. Will definitely try the KOA next time. read more

The only reason I didn't give it one star is because it was clean. We had originally planned to stay at the KOA, but it was full so we went with this place. We have two kids who couldn't even play outside our camper because it was nothing but gravel, and another RV. The RV's are so close it's very uncomfortable. It was two windy for our awning, but I honestly don't know if we could have put it out without hitting the camper next to ours. If you are taking kids and think you will have a fire, think again. In all of the spots on the left side (and maybe other sides) there is no fire pit. Then there is the price. We paid in the $60s. It was the most expensive place we stayed on our cross country move, and by far the worse. Like another reviewer posted I would have rather pulled down the road and stayed in a parking lot. read more

First, this campground was not as bad as previous reviews. It was beautiful, well kept and decorated w antique farm equipment. Had a pool/spa, but we didn't have time to enjoy it. We would stay there again and recommend it, if you are passing thru Billings. Would give more stars buy we weren't warned that the water and electric were shared by two sites. When you sign in make sure you ask for a site where water and electric are on the correct side of your camper. read more

Not nearly enough bathrooms and showers, RVs stacked on top of each other with no room for cooking or sitting outside next to your site, the only space reserved for cooking and sitting outside set amid the tent campers (who aren't exactly thrilled at everyone coming into their sleeping space), a dog "exercise" area the size of a closet... what's to like about this campsite? The wireless Internet included is nice, but doesn't begin to make up for this camp sites many shortcomings. If this is your only option for the night, good luck (especially given the scarce number of bathrooms) -- you are better off trying elsewhere. read more

We pulled in very late to sleep for a few hours before getting on the road. $42 for a TENT site! INSANE! We left and got a hotel for $60 instead! Total rip off! We hit sights all year long across the US and the most we've ever paid for a spot was $25! You should really be embarrassed! read more

Stayed here in early September 2012. Sites are gravel and like the worst KOA's, you share electrical hookup with your neighbor (one 30 amp and one 50 amp to a box). Also, the sites are "twinned" and very close together so if you have a large motorhome and your neighbor does too and he puts out his large slide next to you, you may not be able to open your awning. There is a strip of grass about 6 feet wide between every other site which hold the utility connections, so if you want your picnic table on grass, you will be right next to a sewer hookup. Not too pleasant. My DH and I could not believe the number of RV's that came in, saw the site assigned to them and left. There is a KOA'S about 1/4 mile from this campground. They have wifi, but it is so slow, even with the campground half full. The cable TV was nice. BTW, on the registration card, you are asked to provide a picture ID. The clerk tells you that "the DA requires it". They ten look at it and write your info on the registration form. Why they need this, I can't figure out. This place might be OK for an overnight, but not much else. read more

$62 for one night on an unpaved dusty site with water and electricity only was greatly overpriced. Staff asked for drivers license upon registering, saying it was state law. When questioned why they would need this info staff were quite rude. Interesting that other campsites in the state have never heard of this "law" when asked. Will not return to this park and will not recommend to anyone else. read more

Terrible. Stay at KOA..same price but they have breakfast, clean showers, and a pool.. also more privacy in general. Should you decide to stay at Yellowstone River...do not pay in advance; we were ripped off by owner..we paid in advance for two weeks for a campsite only to be told after six days that its 'actually per tent' (which is never the case anywhere) and the owner then confiscated my remaining payment of 200.00 and kicked us out...we went to KOA a block away and..less money for...you guessed it-one campsite with as many tents will fit. I CANT EVEN RATE THIS Sheet HOLE!!!! Called in my request to stay long term..month to month till Nov 1st because of work. I Was TOLD by the incompetent staff that I would have to pay a weekly rate for about two weeks and then could be moved into a site with sewer and pay a monthly rate of 700 per month...LESS IF YOU PAY CASH...HELLO IRS...AFTER walking up nicely and speaking to the incompetent staff about WHEN I WOULD BE ABLE TO MOVE TO A SITE with SEWER. I was repeatedly told...we have "a list". WELL I WANT TO KNOW WHERE I AM AT ON THIS LIST!!!!!!..."oh it should be by the end of the week. June 6th 2014 I arrived to have a site without sewer, elec and cable only. I paid 360 per WEEK to stay in this sheethole. ON JULY 20th I HAD ENOUGH, I Wanted to talk to the SO CALLED OWNERS!!!! WHAT A JOKE, some punk a** girl with her mommy shows up at my camper and gives me attitude. I pointed out that WHY am I getting moved NOW to a location with sewer..BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A WEEKLY RATE...!!!!! of 300 per week....this is still NOT the agreed upon MONTHLY RATE....the GIRL said I could get out and I was evicted from a campground...I am NOT the first person to be evicted from here...they are price gouging, RUDE, ignorant people. THE MOTHER is obviously the leader of this CLAN also RUDE and incompetent. This campground is NOT worth the money, the agony, and you better watch out..if they don't want you there...your gone. They threatened me with calling the SHERIFF. I am in a business where CUSTOMER SERVICE is key.. I believe in the customer is right attitude and I treat people with respect UNTIL I have been disrespected. I HAVE HAD TO PULL MY AWNING IN TO LET people inch into the site next to me...THAT HAS SEWER..THE HAD 5 open sites with sewer open, they are intentionally alienating me by stuffing campers into the site next to me. I have contacted the Good Sam company and a full investigation is under way. I am praying that they lose their status. It would be to everyones best interest to go to the KOA with more room and a much FRIENDLIER STAFF...I mean KOA was founded in Billings MT. I am NOT exaggerating when I say the spots are stupid small..I have seen nice motorhomes and 5th wheels wrecked because they can't get in or out of a site or make a corner...also there is NOT enough rest rooms, showers and they are filthy..I had to PUT paper IN the restrooms for people who needed it. THIS place needs to be put out of business. THEY CANT DECIDE if they want to be a mobile home park or campground. There is NOT one good thing about this campground...if you only come for a night...you have not a right to judge. read more

When we first arrived, the staff was very warm and welcoming, which was very nice after a long drive. The gift shop is the best one that I have seen in my life! The prices were very reasonable for the area. The park was very clean and we had a nice, relaxing stay. I would recommend this park to anyone passing through Billings! read more

Yes, the RV spaces are close, but the grounds were very clean and park like with lush green grass and flowers everywhere. My kids enjoyed the pool/hot tub and my dog chased a ball in the off leash park. We'd come again. read more

Lots of trees and shade if you want it. Bathrooms are clean. Gift shop is nice. Laundry room is ok and a game room for kids connects to laundry. Close to Sam's and Cabela's. We had a problem with a new 5th wheel and the park owner, Brit, and his team helped to solve my electrical problem with my 50 amp connection. Will stay here again when coming thru! read more

Came to Billings for work and looking for a place for 3 RV's to stay long term. Drove through the campground and at first it looked promising. I understand RV living requires you to store some things outside and most everyone had neat and tidy campsites, BUT I draw the line at a huge pile of dirty laundry. This was "Trailer Trash" extreme. We've been traveling the US for several months and, of the 50+ parks that we've stayed in, this was probably the most expensive. They could cut the price in half and we still wouldn't return or recommend the park. Except for the full hookup, we could have had the same camping experience in our storage slip at home. On the hookup side, we're about 5 feet from our neighbor (much less when their slide-out darkens our windows). On the door side, we don't have much more space. Ridiculous. No attempt has been made to enforce leash rules or to get people to silence their constantly yipping dogs. read more

Save your money and go to the KOA 500 feet away. We were told $35 for a tent site (4 single tents and motorcycles for 12 hours, no hookups). We set up and tried to pay but they informed us it was $35 per tent !! That's $140 for one night!! RV sites with full hook ups are only $70 (which is high) but we weren't allowed to move to an RV site. We moved our tents to the KOA approx 500 feet away. They charged $38 for one site with 4 tents. I advised the manager of Yellowstone River this and she stated "I don't care what they charge. Go down there then." Desk staff flat out lied about site costs. I will never go there again and would highly discourage anyone from going there. KOA is much cleaner, nicer staff, and MUCH cheaper. read more

We ended up here because the KOA was full. This place has everything it advertises except a campsite. Their sites are side by side which means you face your neighbor. Normally that would be no biggie, but here we ended up 4 feet from, and facing, our neighbor's RV. Your neighbor's vehicle ends up being right across from your door, and your vehicle across from theirs, leaving no room for an awning or chairs, let alone a table. The only grass is where your sewer hook up is and that's where they put the picnic tables, which is on the opposite side of the doors on RVs. For $70 a night, no thank you. The owner tried to duck us but an employee showed her to us and after a battle we were able to get a refund for two nights (we had planned on staying three but after seeing the lack of campsite we decided to leave after one). The sign when you drive in says, "ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON". That tells us they know they have a problem. We love Billings but will bypass it from now on. read more

we had reservations for 4 night but cancelled last two, living quarters horse trailer, in town for bls horse sale 7/26/14. rented a cabin instead, nice room but bath house numbers suck big time.. only two for ladies and two for gents, big room, toilet, sink shower, no place to put soap, shampoo, ect, no place to sit. us old folks need to sit to put on socks ect. I was using shower at 4:00am, had several knocks on door, didn't even wash my hair so some one else could use toilet. 3 cabins, tents and other units without bathroom must share a total of 4 bathrooms. other then that, shaded sites, clean grounds, great location. its a shame . penny h. florida read more
