The crispy rice was a little bit too crunchy for me but the rolls we had were amazing. Very reasonably priced and the service was friendly. A solid spot for friends or a date night.

INCREDIBLE! The sushi is literally SO fresh and both of our dishes were so unique and delicious. It's BYOB and we didn't realize but the server let us put in an appetizer and run next door to buy a bottle of wine. Can't wait to come back!

Super yummy sushi. The ambiance is very chill, would be a great date spot if sushi is a mutual love!

They were really busy when we arrived, and we originally wanted to sit outside -- but then it started to rain. We waited a little while to be seated, but we didn't mind at all because the food was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing. Our server was super fun and helpful! She recommended the Yellowtail Shoga Maki, and it was so good. We can't wait to go back!

This was my second time at Yellowtail and it was just as good as the first!!! My favorite thing on the menu is the spicy scallop roll - don't skip this roll!!!! The crispy rice is good, but not my favorite I've ever had. It doesn't have a ton of rice on the bottom, so most of it just tastes like crunch instead of a crunchy outside and soft inside. A great thing about Yellowtail is that it's BYOB so you can bring your own wine / drinks to drink while you eat! They are usually pretty busy, so I recommend making a reservation.

This was my second time dining after a few years. The ambience is very intimate so do next expect to come here for a lively atmosphere. The only aspects I enjoyed were the food. The yakitori shrimp was good as well as the kani California roll. As far as the service it was subpar. We had to ask for our wine to be opened, found out the water was filtered tap water (a faucet on the front bar), and out waitress was not very helpful in explains the menu options. I enjoy trying new food but was turned off by her lack of knowledge. The menu is sectioned into different tabs so make sure to click through each one before selecting your meal. Google pictures before you arrive if you're not familiar with some of the choices. I would order food to go but skip out on the dine-in service. there is a $5 uncork fee so bring twist cap wine if you want to avoid a fee for them opening your byob

I will say coming back from visiting Japan last year and having Yellowtail Sushi Bar was uplifting. I felt the quality of the fish was as good as I had it when I was in Japan. Really brought back good memories for me! The chefs platter was worth every penny! The service was great! I have to say the ambiance was good. I did think it was a little too dark at the front of the building. Overall I will recommend YSB&AK is worth every bite!

Excellent service and menu selection here. It's BYOB so you can choose your own adventure with drinks. My favorite item was the Fire Dragon roll. They also have great karaage and agedashi tofu. Takoyaki was good, very soft and gooey. There was a grilled octopus option that was EXTREMELY good, recommend finding and ordering that one. It was kind of dark and loud at our table in the back, but we managed. Trendy restaurant problems, I suppose. This is great Japanese option in the area if you're looking -- I'd happily return to try more of the menu!

Walking in, there is blue lighting coming from a projection of jellyfish swimming in the open ocean on the back wall. Darker lighting around makes for a relaxed tone. The service was good. Our server was friendly, and was able to withstand my puns I ordered the yellowtail scallion roll which was good, but nothing which was other-worldly. The takara hotate maki roll as the server recommended was absolutely amazing! The sauce was flavorful and generous. The spice on it was just right. The texture was correctly described as something that would melt in your mouth. If I come again, I'm just ordering 2 of these rolls! The godzilla roll piece I tried was also good. The cream cheese in it was quite unique where it tasted a tad more like regular cheese, but it was good. I tried a piece of a shrimp tempura roll and the star of that one was the topping of flakes. I'm not sure I've had a flaky topping that quite stood on its own like that before.

A great place to take friends from out of town or a date! We didn't have a res but the three of us got seated right away outside. There are a few nice outdoor tables and the inside is pretty big. Inside sports a dimly lit bar restaurant with a wavy art projection on the wall creating moody ambiance. Two rolls is a good size but the chefs special chunkier rolls are pretty filling so you could stick with one. The plating was nicely arranged. The Crazy Dragon Roll was delicious and the different textures of crunch, fish, soft rice, and fried bits dance your mouth like a perfect symphony. I would definitely recommend.

Upon arrival, you're greeted at the door with somewhat glum/moody attitude... It was so dull, I almost felt unwelcome. Bring your own bottle and WATER, the "filtered tap" in your presence at the bar is a bit of a turn off. Next we have the menu, which is rather large, so try and know what you want to eat before arriving because if it's busy your food will take 15 minutes to be served, During that time I wasn't checked on/reassured if I needed anything or told "sorry for the wait" the usual hospitality script. - The food itself was flavorful and well prepared, I have no complaints. Please note that some items on the menu can be cooked and some are labeled Raw (ASK). The ambiance gives.. cute little eatery, not the biggest place, but a nice after work/pre-night out spot. Overall: 6/10 and the 6 is strongly based solely on the food being great. The place would be a lot better reviewed if the customer service was more lively.

Great sushi, great byob experience!! This was my first time at a BYOB restaurant and it is so enjoyable being able to drink what you brought rather than pay for something overpriced! Definitely enhances the experience. Note, there is a $3 bottle opening charge. We sat the the sushi bar and it was actually so enjoyable to see the rolls being made and the unique ones coming out. The setting here is classic and fun and they have some nice tables outside too. Our waitress was so nice and write down some of her favorite rolls that she recommended. We ended up getting and splitting the crazy dragon roll and Jiba Maki roll. Both were delicious! I loved the crunchy textures on the crazy dragon and the mango avocado exterior on the jiba maki was flavorful and unique.

Is this BYOB? What is the corkage fee?

Due to the massive increase in food cost and labor cost, we have applied corkage fee $3 per wine bottle / $3 for beer per person.

The ambiance is really fun and casual although it's incredibly loud. Service was great except for how poorly they handled that amount of covers. Receiving half empty cups of water for 45 minutes is unacceptable for how much you can expect to pay per person. Similarly, getting individual plates only after the last call AND after we're done eating was a bit shocking to me. The food was below average too which makes this a very hard pass for me next time. From everything we ordered the bang bang shrimp and nuggets did stand out but just weren't enough for how frankly disappointing everything else was.

For the main attraction I ordered the spicy garlic ramen that was such a delightful mouth experience it really hit all the taste buds! The noodles were perfectly bouncy with the right amount of chew. The jellied egg was perfect and rounded the soup very well! The red chili threads enhanced the spicy miso broth just enough to slurp all the delicious goodness down! My husband ordered the Sapporo miso soup which had more of a creamy type of broth vs the spicy garlic. The noodles were also thinner than regular ramen & had a bouncy springy texture that just hit the spot! You ever see a movie where the character introductions are fantastic, the exposition is exciting, and the buildup is promising but the movie lacks depth, character development, and an interesting plot line? That's how we felt about the entrees. We ordered the Sumo bowl, the 10 hr tonkatsu, and the kimchi and fried chicken. The ramen itself was mediocre, nothing special or particularly delicious. In no way had my body rested. Donned in dawn, my underwear-pajamas slightly slid down revealed a sad vision of man, sloppily tangled in ruffled sheets. Exposed. There is nothing pretty about me, I thought, as I pondered if the sunlight were judging what it saw. Before reaching my current perch on the living room couch, I sat in bed flicking through news in search of something good, but simultaneously only pausing on the bad. Glorifying in the doom, really. It was the pinch I needed to prove I was indeed awake. All day I seek the pinch of pain to prove I am not dreaming. Coffee, cats, clothes, splashof water, and 20 steps later I find myself in the planning pose, here in the living room. The planning pose is very much like the wake-startle, sans the sheets and exposed crack. It involves me laying here on the couch actually reading the articles I perused earlier. I like to rationalize that the information gleaned is to set me up for a day of human interaction. Perhaps it is a study session to get up to human-social-speed. Right now it is dawning on me -- my second uninvited dawn of the day -- that perhaps behavior isn't responsible humanity, it is prolonged self torment. The tighter pinch. The proverbial purple nurple of challenging my awakened state. Cats gather around me. One at my feet and the other curled beside my thigh. Am I king to them? They are fed. Surely they are not here in need of something. Have I done something to warrant this attention? My affection toward them is inconsistent. It ebbs in startling fits of overly attentive playing or petting followed by long droughts of disregard. My ambivalence as their king gives me this luxury, and supports my theory that they may think I am indeed king. This is the type of cyclical example loop I am using as evidence to propel me from the underwear'ed fat man the sun observed moments ago. Evidence that says: "See, Sun, I am more than the larva you spotlighted. I am a god! The cats are evidence! And they sleep in your sun-puddles in undisputed, recognizable perfection, not the ugly crack-exposed heap you found me in. You love them. They love me. So, pinch yourself, and stop judging me!" Obviously the coffee is working, or maybe the cats are doing their trick: making me feel accepted in the universe. Whatever the case may be, I pet my cat. Dander floats into the sun's beams and crystallizes in the air. If you've ever seen dust in a thinly sliced light beam at dawn you know: Hope is the accidental luck of shadows bouncing off of the chaos but always cutting through. Always meeting a surface. Penetrating the thickest of atmospheres and colliding on flowers and alleys, on well planned solar panels, on potholes, through any crack, on my crack, projecting obtuse triangles, acute bi-angles, and isosceles quad-tangles, even while penetrating deep into the sea, revealing all the magnificent details of art, and occasionally falling on me. Trees bend to it. I give the cat closest a good scratch behind the ear and look out the window at the trees greening in spring. A dog walker pauses to pick up excrement. A squirrel cowers behind a branch. The ramen restaurant on the corner is cut through by light warming empty tables; tables preparing to slurp up hungry, hopeful lunchers into the belly of contentment. Dark, seemingly an antagonist to light's hero demeanor, sheepishly slinks away, humbly realizing it is not the opposite of light, but the absence. "Beautiful," I think as I see the spicy broth of life warming in the sun glow beyond the glass. Yes. It is beautiful. It really is. I couldn't see how much in the dark but the rhythm out the window is now clear. I turn to my cat, who is winding down a purr. We share a slow-blink gaze at one another as the last sliver of dawn is replaced with shadow in my house. He moves to the window sill to soak in every second as it departs. "Welp, buddy. Nothing left now. Time to bend to the light"
