Would have liked to try precovid. 5 stars for location. Short walk to beach and close to rental and sandwich shops. 5 minute walk to breakfast place that has Starbucks drinks and great bakery items. Was lowered 60 bucks a night to 300 because of covid. No breakfast or appertizers. Still had triple chocolate brownies, popcorn and candy in every room. The place was dated with decor and tons of books. Played foosball, tic tac toe and chinese checkers. Many board games. They should upgrade with ipads. Had to wear facemask when walking around. Issues were numerous: No refrigerators in rooms or in main building. The guest house had 1 on each floor. They only cleaned room before entry due to covid but it was dusty and had many lights out. TV was small and old. Nice jacuzzi in our room. Bathroom was redone but not luxurious. Towels were overhyped and beach towels are small. Bring your own. Breakfast replacement was expensive. 5 dollars for each item: coffee, tea, oj, pathetic frozen bagel with preserves, oatmeal, small premade smoothie that you couldnt customize, elaine's famous blueberry cake and rhubarb bar. Had to check youself in and out, no receipt and carry own luggage due to covid. Hose to rinse your feet off from beach. If you needed something you would text elaine or husband. We never figured out if they lived in back part of house or in separate houses. It was creepy when they showed up late at night. Nice people but were very afraid of covid i guess. They had big cucumber water cooler for drinks and ice buckets always filled. Thought it was crazy we were charged 10 dollars a night gratuity for cleaning crew which was them and assistant plus only done once per visit. Parking was tight. Gardens looked overgrown. Combination lock same for both houses and I wonder if it is ever changed. Nice to have sunroom and other rooms to sit in.

We stayed in the Shamrock Room in the Guest House for the weekend of Aug 8-10. We spent much of the weekend at Gingerman Raceway, but we found plenty of opportunities to explore the town. The photos on Yelton Manor's website don't do it justice. There are 2 Victorian homes on the grounds and both are surrounded by wildflowers. There is a cozy patio amongst the flowers. We arrived during the evening reception and homemade goodies were left out...hummus, salsa, pita chips, jams & jellies, brownies. They also have a large video library if you want to borrow movies to watch in your room. Each room of each house is perfectly appointed and the small touches were excellent...down to actual Kleenex tissues in the room. The bed was super comfy. Our room was on the first floor corner near the street and we never heard cars or outside noise which is incredible because a blueberry festival was taking place in the town so there were a lot of people on the streets. There is a common area on each floor with a refrigerator for everyone to share. We used it the whole weekend and didn't have any issues. They also made sure the ice bucket was kept full. Since we were leaving early each morning to go to Gingerman, we received room service. It consisted of fresh pastries, coffee, tea & orange juice. It was delicious! The owner, Robert, was very accommodating of my friend changing his tires more than once (street - racing - street) and made sure space was available. He also stored the tires in his shed. I highly recommend Yelton Manor and can't wait to go back!

Loved the charm and hospitality of the Yelton Manor. You feel like you're miles away, yet your steps from Lake Michigan beaches and South Haven restaurants, shops and nightlife. The best part of the inn is the Sun and Stars patio! We loved the Adirondack chairs, rockers and tables. Perfect hideaway for breakfast or an after dinner snack. The rooms were updated and clean, with an old fashioned feel. The inn offers several common space rooms to rest, read, play games and eat. You'll love all the food and snacks available, like fresh popped popcorn, fruits and brownies. Breakfast includes toast, bagels, cereal with homemade nut butters, preserves and lots of fruit, vegetables and hard boiled eggs. Afternoon beach snacks include hummus and chips, pickled vegetables, cheese and crackers. The owners treat you kindly and take great care of you! Perfect getaway spot for couples or friends.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Chef Tim, who got us checked in. Chef Tim served up some excellent breakfasts the next few days!! Sherry, the sommelier, then took us through the complimentary wine tasting that came with our booking. These are wines that she had made, so it was pretty cool hearing about the flavor profiles from her and tasting them! We got to enjoy sitting on the patio and relaxing with some yummy mushroom popcorn that Chef Tim made. The 2023 Single Barrel Chardonnay was my favourite! The rooms are good for 2 adults, but probably no more. Each room has its own bathroom. I loved the white noise machines in the room that made it easy to sleep. There are a couple of common areas: a book nook with a 2nd floor balcony space and a downstairs living room where you can sit, chat, or read some books! There are all sorts of books on gardening, foraging, cooking, and wine! There is also the main dining area where breakfasts are served. Breakfast was amazing. Literally my favourite meals out of the 4 days we vacationed in the area. Chef Tim cooks everything from scratch and all was so yummy! The pastries were such a delight everyday! Seasonal Fruit Smoothie: Fresh berries smoothie! So yummy that I helped to finish my husband's portion also! Classic Eggs Benedict with Lemon Hollandaise & Slow Braised Pulled Ham on House English Muffins: so savory and yummy!! Home made English muffins were the perfect texture in combination with the poached eggs. The sauce brought everything together. So so good. Breakfast Potatoes: oh man. It's these potatoes were perfectly seasoned and I could of eaten a whole plate of them! Scones: super fluffy!!! Chicken Sausage & Grits: I thought I wasn't a fan of grits until I had these creamy savoury grits! The chicken sausage was a perfect pairing. I could of eaten a couple bowls of it! Baked French Toast with Macerated Berries, Mint Syrup, Strawberry Melba, & Whipped Cream: custardy French toast with a slightly sweet berry topping. I loved that the flavors were well balanced and not too sweet! Fruit & Yogurt Parfait: we were spoiled by the fresh picked fruit all weekend. The house made granola gave it the perfect texture contrast. Yummy! Fluffy Quiche with foraged golden mushrooms & asparagus: I have never had such a fluffy quiche in my life. The veggies were perfect.

The building is set up as 16 individual Air B&Bs so they don't have to have anyone at the desk. There is no "Inn" experience to be had for us and you and your family. We tried to find someone to assist three times. We also texted. You get your code and you let yourself in and fend for yourselves. 2. No breakfast (to speak of) you and the other guests hover and pick over a couple of coffee cakes and frozen egg bites from Costco. 3. The entrance way to our Air B&B was in disrepair (PICTURE). The front door and the bathroom door due to age were very hard to close. We had to use our weight to secure ourselves into the room. The front door DID NOT have blinds, shades or the like. Anyone could look in on you and your family as you try to rest safely. Again, this was for $500 a night. 4. The temperature we changed (by remote) before we went to bed, it was very cold, woke up the next morning to an even colder room. Finally got a hold of staff (text) and they said "the remotes don't work I have the controls here in my living room". (PICTURED) 5. The bathroom was uninhabitable. ¼ of the bathroom (PICTURED) is I don't know what...but the moldy mirror is what you stare into as you are on the toilet. By now, you can guess the ply of the toilet paper. You also have to flush twice each time as this business was able to save money, deciding not to switch over the pluming and has kept the entire 16 units under a lone septic tank. Contained within is a shower (barely usable), another shower at the back which has been blocked off, no showerhead, the drain nailed shut. There is red tape (again, PICTURED) over a mysterious light switch. 6. The "Employee Area" that you are not supposed to enter but which shares a wall of this room which had a cut-out chunk of the wall which served as an unneeded night light at all hours. (PICTURE) The crusty white part at the top is where the bright light would seep into this unit. PROMISES and KNOWN UNTRUTHS: 1. Promised: The Jacuzzi tub. THERE WAS NONE. This claim as a lie. The only tub in the bathroom is the one (PICTURED). 2. Promised: The Private Deck. THERE WAS NONE. This claim is a lie. The one that was promised was the one (PICTURED) with the table setting...it's FAKE. THAT was never attached to our room. Never saw it. The deck we DID have had a nice view...BUT there were no partitions. At night we had someone cup their hands and watch us in bed. The same thing happened as we were trying to escape the next morning. My deck was EVERYONE'S deck. It would have cost this Air B&B less than $1K to put up simple wood partitions. But they didn't. The money must have gone toward the imaginary Jacuzzi tub. How would you feel? 3. Promised: Individual Heating and Cooling Controls. THERE WAS NONE. This claim is a lie. See above what we were told about our cold unit. If freezing, you have to hope you contact someone. In the meantime?? A very old house that hasn't seen love in many decades. The current owners, in evidence, have provided new paint here and there and flimsy wood stairs. I was told "please be patient as we work on this "amazing historic home, etc, etc." How about this. Don't open until you can provide your customers a safe place to stay. Our charge was $500 per night (including taxes, pet fee, etc., etc., etc.) per night. This business has yet to refund to us $1000. I'm SURE the response will be something sad like "if we would have known...if you would have called". WE DID. NO ONE WAS THERE. Your business knows what it's providing and what it isn't. All of us travelers deserve better. A few years from now this property will change hands yet again, from laziness and not wanting to invest the money. This was our first and last trip to Michigan.
