Anyone who has lived in SF long enough has had some security or door/lock-related needs. YES Locksmith has been our saving grace on so many occasions, for security-related incidents as well as routine wear-and-tear (or when our kids accidentally locked us in our backyard). Ramon has been extraordinary to us for over 5 years. He's done aesthetic work, custom jobs, and also routine lock and security work. We trust him entirely! His integrity is second to none: he even advised us on some building code laws to help us navigate getting the right secure entrance in place when our new home had some unforeseen code issues that led to security vulnerabilities. After a burglary incident several years back, Ramon retrofitted all of our doors and locks and also educated us along the way so we could understand and have better security. He also responded immediately when the door was damaged in the burglary so that we didn't need to be left with an insecure door. Now when I walk by some buildings I think "they could really use this guy because they've got an open invitation to burglars with that lock." Almost 9 pm, Sunday night, my friend offers to save me a cab home and give me a lift. She steps out of her condo and says "oh crap!" Only the car keys in her hand, no house keys, no cell phone. So while she freaks out a bit, I grabbed my phone, hit Yelp, and called YES Locksmith and hand her the phone. She chats with Ramone a bit on the phone, hangs up, and says "They said 20 minutes, ya right, it will be 2 hours." So fast forward 8 minutes and he shows up. Walks up to the door with us and says that this is some silly smart lock that is not pickable and he has to break the lock...how much extra is it for him to break a lock you might ask? Nothing. "I'm not going to charge you to break your lock," he said. He swiftly compromises the lock, puts on a new door knob and lock keyed properly, makes some extra keys, answers all our questions, and apologies for not wearing his work shirt because he just left his nephew's birthday party and was on his way home. Ok, it wasn't expensive...that's what I'm a little tripped out about. That and from call to finish it was like 30 minutes. Seriously, if you called me right now to come over for dinner it would take me longer to get there! This may sound like a broken record, given the other reviews I see here. But I have to say I am in complete agreement with the praise that is being given to Ramon and Vincent. The doorknob lock on our backdoor stopped working; once I called YES Locksmith, the response time was very quick. Vincent quickly diagnosed the issue and discovered the core cylinder on our "specialty" doorknob had splintered. YES did not carry that particular part and offered to replace the doorknob with a very similar knob, but we wanted to maintain the "specialty" doorknob, so I paid for the house call and ordered the replacement "cylinder" from the supplier. Once the specialty cylinder was received, I call YES again to do the replacement and key the new cylinder. Again, Ramon and Vincent were very accommodating, expedient, and super pleasant. They remembered me from the first visit a few weeks earlier, so I was only charged for the cylinder replacement and re-keying on the second visit, all of which I felt was very reasonable. I had several locksmiths come out and take a look at my locks and all of them said we would need to replace my front door lock which would cost $400. The Yes Locksmith team spent several hours working on the current lock at got it to work correctly (apparently it wasn't installed right) for a fraction of the price. I have an 1980s Baldwin [from what Ramon told me] brand deadbolt and knob was not able to lock starting yesterday. Obviously, having a non-functioning deadbolt is a time sensitive issue that needs to be addressed quickly. I gave Yes Locksmith a call this morning at 10:23am this morning. Ramon was very responsive and he asked for photos of my lock and address. He came around 11:30-ish and got my door working in 40 minutes. He explained to me the situation with the lock well. These guys are awesome. My husband was working in SF for 2 days filling in for another store manager. He isn't familiar with the city or the area. It was 7:00 amand they had left the wrong padlock key for him to open the store. He was advised to call a lock Smith to break the lock.
