I had no idea this place existed, despite living in Flushing for over two decades! I've tried other Korean fried chicken spots - Pelicana, Mad for Chicken, among others, and this is the place that keeps me coming back several times a month. I always get takeout, so service is very basic and no-frills. The restaurant itself is small and unassuming, with only a few tables inside. We usually order the fried chicken wings without sauce, and have also tried the fried vegetables, fried sweet potato, Tteokbokki, and fried seaweed rolls. Everything has tasted very fresh, crispy and tasty. I wasn't a big fan of the Tteokbokki, mostly because I'm a chicken when it comes to spicy food, haha. I've passed by this spot a lot but finally decided to try it. It's different than the other local Korean fried chicken spots nearby. I enjoyed the soy garlic flavor. Not too salty but still had flavor. Wish my chicken was coated more evenly with the sauce. The dark meat was not dry. The white meat was a little dry but tolerable. I also ordered the fried seaweed with glass noodles inside. It was a little sour and spicy. It wasn't what I was expecting and not sure it's suppose to be a little sour/tangy? My friend and I had the fried chicken with soy and garlic glaze (whole chicken cut into pieces), tteokbokki, and fried vegetables. Water is self serve. The tteokbokki was on the bland side. Definitely needed more spice. I expected the fried vegetables to be more like tempura but it was more like pakora. Decent but not great. The chicken comes with pickled radishes and a cabbage slaw. Both were good. The fried chicken was delicious! It was made to order so it was fresh and so crispy! The soy garlic flavor was scrumptious. Loved this spot. It's quiet, small calm spot. The staff is friendly and doesn't bother you. The fried chicken really is the star. It's made to order, so you will wait about 20 mins for it. Since my first review I have been back and ordered the half fried/ half sweet spicy with a side of mayo sauce (with extra onion this time). The mayo sauce is great on their fried chicken (still kinda dry) but Ive used it on some leftover rotisserie chicken as well and it was soooo good. After watching a two part documentary on Netflix called "Korean Pork belly Rhapsody" that discusses pork prominence in Korea, well actually more than just pork belly they showed many other cuts and preparations with Jokbal (Pig trotters) being one of the featured dishes. Searching on Yelp my friend and I found Yental Tongdak have a platter (small and large) so we could satisfy our porky cravings. The small platter was a home run with delicious slices of pork and the bones included as well - the meat, cartilage and skin all prepared deliciously well. It comes with sides of jalapeno and garlic, and a duo of dipping sauces. Highly recommend! Of course we had to try the chicken as well so we ordered the 8 piece wings which were expertly done with crispy skin and juicy meat. These were so good. Can't wait to try more, but its easy to see that the preparation and care they put into their chicken blows most other KFC spots out of the water. We originally chose this place because I was seriously craving jokbal, but unfortunately, they were out. We ended up ordering their half soy chicken and half bbq chicken. Seriously, SO much chicken for the price. The soy chicken was our favorite of the two. We had Half & Half chicken ($23) and chicken gizzard stir fry ($15). The portion with reasonable price was enough to feed 4 people. The food was amazingly delicious and served fresh. The Half & half chicken was sweet & spicy + Soy garlic or honey BBQ, super juicy inside and addictive. The layer was fried partially crispy and partially wet with tasty sauce. There are 2 options for chicken gizzard, fried and stir fry on menu. We ordered stir fry to prevent it from being too greasy in the end and the gizzard was cooked perfectly with onion and pepper. When we picked up the order, we saw an order with Jokbal which is sliced pork feet, looked so finger-licking. Hence, we decided to visit again next week for Jokbal. read more

A few years ago I wandered around looking for an authentic Korean fried chicken spot (didn't use Yelp at the time) and wound up at a place that was like a hole in the wall. Fast forward to now and I had another hankering for KFC and used Yelp to find this place. Driving in the area, it looked oddly familiar and wouldn't you know it, it was the same place! It was delicious then and just as delicious now. We ordered the half and half (sweet spicy/honey bbq) and tried to order the old fashioned chicken and the lady taking the order looked horrified and told us it was too much. It's crunchy, the right amount of sweet and salty, topped with sesame, it truely makes for one of the best Korean fried chicken experiences around. I was curious to see why this place had great reviews as typically whole fried chicken has a lot of really dry pieces. What made me more nervous was when I ordered, they said 25 minutes. I had to head back to the property to troubleshoot and came back 40 minutes later. The drive home was an hour. I thought crap, cold, greasy, dry chicken... Nope. Not even close. These people are masters. The chicken was still really, REALLY good. My wife was also perplexed and we have decided we are absolutely going to eat here and eat it fresh. My wife and I were in the mood for some KFC and wanted to try a new place. We asked around and were told to check out this hole in the wall just off Northern Blvd on 162nd up the block from Pelicana. We must have driven by Yetnal Tongdak a million times over the years but never step foot inside. I got an order of original fried chicken and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the chicken was. There must have been like 20 small pieces of chicken in the little box I took home. The chicken was very crunchy on the outside and perfect on the inside. I had requested soy garlic and spicy sauce on the side. The chicken had a nice little bite to it, which we loved. It wasn't overly spicy but just right. I ordered two orders of fries, which was a mistake on my part being a rookie. The fries were delicious and very abundant! We ate our faces off and were so full that we didn't even attempt to eat the 2nd order of fries. While waiting for my order noticed that there were a lot of customers there ordering the marinated pigs feet a.k.a trotters. They looked delicious and will try it on my next visit. I have passed by Yetnal Tongdak on many occasions and I can't believe I have been missing out on some amazing Korean fried chicken! Yetnal Tongdak is practically a hole-in-the-wall near Northern Boulevard by the LIRR stop at 162nd St and though it is easily visible, it is competing with nearby other Korean fried chicken places like Mad For Chicken, BBQ Chicken, and Pelicana. However, despite the competition, I can firmly say that Yetnal Tongdak easily has my favorite Korean fried chicken now. I tried the Glazed (Sweet & Spicy) and Honey BBQ half & half chicken combo, which came out to $23 before taxes. The first thing I noticed about the fried chicken was how the sauce was glistening on the chicken skin. Just looking at it made you salivate and the strong fried chicken smell only makes you drool even more. With sesame seeds sprinkled on top, the chicken looks delectable and almost candy-like. Unlike your typical fried chicken, Yetnal Tongdak seems to fry every piece of chicken, whether it is your typical wing or a smaller section chopped from the whole breast. Seeing all of the different pieces makes me happy that Yetnal Tongdak is not leaving anything to waste. Overall, both sauces were good, though I preferred the Sweet & Spicy, as it had a bit more flavor and the slight kick was perfect in complimenting the savoriness and juiciness of the fried chicken. The Honey BBQ was nice to have in between pieces of the Sweet & Spicy though to make sure the heat doesn't linger on your tongue. If you're not a big fan of spice, Yetnal Tongdak's Sweet & Spicy packs a bit of heat, but not to the point where it is unbearable as a cold drink should suffice in calming your taste buds. Regardless, I have to say Yetnal Tongdak does such a fantastic job as the sauce is coated all over the chicken, so that every single bite is full of flavor. Additionally, whether the chicken was white or dark meat, every single piece was juicy and tender on the inside. Everyone knows that feeling when a piece of fried chicken is too dry and needs to be doused with sauce. Well, the chicken here is succulent and already coated with sauce, so you'll never get that feeling! I also tried a few of the sides, which ended up being the deep fried seaweed rolls with glass noodles inside and the fried vegetables. The seaweed rolls had small bits of pepper inside, so they do have a kick to it and honestly, it seemed spicier than the fried chicken. The rolls were alright, as the sauce provided gives the rolls a bit more flavor, but they do have a good crunch. The fried vegetables were quite enjoyable and reminded me of vegetable tempura, as they were lightly fried on the outside while still juicy on the inside, making for a delightful experience that does not involve too much grease. Yetnal Tongdak may not look appealing on the outside, but their fried chicken definitely is, so if you're craving Korean fried chicken, the place is perfect for takeout. The order was ready in 25 minutes after calling and even after a short car ride, the chicken and sides were still warm and crispy on the outside. No matter what I got, everything was delicious and the experience makes me crave for their fried chicken even now. Next time, I hope to try the soy sauce fried chicken and maybe the jokbal (pig trotter), as the jokbal looked very appetizing when it was being cut. read more

The outside fried skin was equally over cooked and hard to bite.
