Lisa Yetter is simply the BEST. I used her 6 years ago when I bought my first house and I looked through my reviews to try and find her again and I cannot believe I did not leave her a review back then. I'm sorry Lisa - this review is about 6 years too late but now I can add on BOTH my experiences with you. So six years ago... I shopped around and "interviewed" several home inspectors because I was a first time homebuyer and extremely nervous. Lisa seemed to be the most experienced, communicative, and listener about what I needed. Boy did I make the RIGHT decision. She walked me through everything, patiently answered all of my questions, pointed out everything in the home that would need work and how to do it, and gave me great advice on how to be a good homeowner. Six years later... any issue that ever came up with this home... Lisa had put into her report years earlier. There was nothing that I didn't know about this house by the time I moved into it. Fast Forward Six years and Lisa is still doing an amazing job and still doing what she does best and I find her information again and beg her to do the inspection on my new house that we are currently undergoing escrow on. She is flexible, kind, and shows up on time and works around the Seller's schedule (which by the way the termite inspection company refused to do so I had to find a different company). I jokingly call her Professor Yetter because she is so knowledgeable and I learn so much from her each time I talk to her and interact with her and she understands and picks up on the fact that I love all her insight and offers me ALOT of intel. She patiently did an almost 4 hour walk through with me today answering all of my questions and telling me how to take care of my new home. She is brilliant and getting your home inspected and taking "Professor Yetter's Course" will be the BEST MONEY YOU'VE EVER SPENT. She actually brought along an associate today and he was fantastic as well. My husband really liked him and thought he was very thorough. Hubby's a pretty good judge of character on these issues and Hubby's default is to dislike people so it's actually a really high compliment that he approved of Lisa and her associate. I am so lucky to have found Lisa. Im grateful to YELP and other reviewers for helping me find her and I hope this review helps other YELPERS find Lisa and use her services. Stay away at all costs! Lisa did not even notice that I had no electricity in 2 rooms so I couldn't get the sellers to fix it. Turns out I needed rewiring which cost $3000. I took her to small claims court and won, but she's not paying. I wanted to put a lien on her property but she doesn't appear to own any property. This wasn't even everything. She missed the fact that the oven didn't work, and her report said the house had 3 bedrooms when it had 4. If you want confirmation I have everything documented and I'm happy to share. I have now read Lisa's response, and as you guys probably know, it's silly. Yes, she told me about various issues with the house BUT DID NOT BOTHER TELLING ME THAT 2 ROOMS HAD NO ELECTRICITY!! And she fails to acknowledge that I TOOK HER TO SMALL CLAIMS AND WON!! (By the way, this is a GREAT house. I bought it for $750k and it was appraised at $920k just a year later.) And now she's not paying the Judgment that was duly issued against her. I am working with an investigator who will be putting a lien on her bank account so I'll get paid eventually, but you should all know the hassle I'm going thru just to get paid. They would not accept the original inspection report -- they insisted on a form of their own creation. I've recommended Lisa for many years as a Realtor at Prudential California Realty, Keller Williams Realty and Fred Sands Realty. She's the first inspector I turn to, and I feel lucky when she's available for my buyer clients to use during their inspection period. Lisa came to my attention when she was used by a buyer on one of my listings back in the 90's. Lisa found a crack in the firebox of an old floor furnace. My seller had the gas company out to verify Lisa's findings, and the gas company said there was no crack. Lisa said to check again. The gas company came back out and, lo and behold, found a crack way in the back. The buyer got a new furnace from my seller because of Lisa's care and attention to detail. From that point on, Lisa became my inspector of choice. What I like most about Lisa is that despite all her years of experience, doing hundreds and hundreds of home inspections, she has retained her helpful attitude. Having an inspection with Lisa is not just like having an inspection, it's like going to class. She likes you to tag along so she can point out what you should know about your new home-to-be, as well as how to care for it in the years to come. Lisa has an excellent bedside manner. She knows having an inspection is quite the experience, especially for first time home buyers, when the negatives about a house can seem more prominent than the positives. She lets you know what you should be concerned about and what is typical for a home of this age. When she sees something you should be concerned about, she definitely tells you about it. Lisa is great! I found her on yelp because of her great reviews. I scheduled a home inspection with her on very short notice. I got there 5 minutes early and she was already there. She looked thru every nook and cranny and asked all the right questions from the homeowner of 60 years. Started in the garage and check every room, room by room, including the attic, crawl space under house, got up on the roof, and so on. She explained to me what was code and what needs to be updated etc. She checked out the Electrical, plumming, water pressure, hot water heater, foundation, and so on... I highly reccomend her if you are looking to buy a house and want to know what the present condition is and what things need replacing and or updating. The termite guy wrote all the wood damage etc etc in his report but left out huge leaks and wood damage found under the home that Lisa Yetter found. Our friends gave Lisa's contact when were looking for home inspection on the property we were considering buying a month ago. Right of the gate, Lisa was very professional and pleasant in our first conversation, and was very nice to squeeze us in her tight schedule. On the inspection day, Lisa was very thorough throughout. Her inspection included the crawl space underneath, the roof, and our detached garage. It is unfortunate that somebody with such a trusted position in our community finds it so hard to admit her mistake. I had hoped for an apology and an explanation of her calculating view of business, but Yetter opted for not only a blatant denial of her own words, but a sophomoric insult intended to discredit an ex-client who witnessed an ugly side of her. Ms. Yetter, people make mistakes, lose their way and get off track all the time. Nothing is more endearing than a heartfelt admission and a plea for forgiveness. Conversely, nothing is more annoying, disgusting and repulsive than being treated like children who must think the way mommy tells them to. A fake review? Shame on you. You must not be aware that Yelp was created so communities could share experiences, rate local businesses and preview potential business relationships. Nowhere does it state that participants must give Lisa Yetter 5 stars or they will be diagnosed as mentally unstable...by Yetter herself, of course. I will not step down into the gutter with you and start name-calling. What I will do is encourage others to continue to post honest reviews and not be influenced by attempts to intimidate members into silence...attempts caused by the inability to accept one's own humanity. People make bad decisions, hopefully learn from them and move on. Well, most people try to handle life in this manner. Picking a home inspector off Yelp was pretty stressful, but I'm so happy I had my real estate agent book Lisa for me! She was prompt, reasonably priced, and extremely thorough. Unlike the original inspector my agent was going to hire (scheduling didn't work out), Lisa encourages the buyer to stick close by so she can walk you through the inspection. The process was amazingly educational, and helped me understand the detailed report. I liked knowing what things to be concerned about vs. things that sound ominous on the report, but would be an easy enough fix. Our home inspection was Sunday morning, and we had the completed report on Tuesday morning before I got to work, so the turnaround time was great considering the amount of information on it. Lisa was also highly rated on Yelp, so I decided to give her a try. Isn't it amazing when professionals work together to provide the best customer service?! Lisa was able to do the inspection right away and at a time when everyone else wouldn't (on a national holiday). She arrived on time and was very professional about the whole thing. Lisa is AWESOME! I cannot stress this enough. My fiance and I are first time home buyers. We are really into research and learned as much as we could before looking at homes, but obviously having a good inspector you can trust is still important when it gets to the nitty gritty. I looked up in Yelp all the inspectors local to San Fernando Valley (who would know the area well) and even though Lisa didn't have the most reviews, all of her reviews were really solid, and detailed. It was all true! We called Lisa for our very first home inspection while in our first Escrow. She was available almost right away to schedule it, and on the day of she showed up before us, and was ready to go. Lisa walked us through every part of the home from front to back to sides, to roof, to crawl space to every room in the house, even the attic. She explained everything as she went, teaching us about the home, it's pros and cons, the things to appreciate, the things look for and watch out for. She let us know when something wasn't perfect, but wasn't a big deal, versus something that WAS a big deal, and when it was something small, she very honestly told us what we could just get at Home Depot and do ourselves. She was thorough, knowledgeable, patient and honest - what more can you ask for?! She wasn't the cheapest, but she was by far not the most expensive, and she really took her time inspecting the entire house (except the sewer line, which you should call a licensed plumber for). She was really worth it, and I am glad I called her! I would recommend Yetter Inspection Services to anyone buying a home, or who just needs an inspector in general. Lisa has a deep and thorough knowledge of most everything you would want to know when purchasing a property. To top it off she is friendly and has a good sense of humor. You will learn about the house you are purchasing and also get a good perspective on life in general. Prices are very fair and well within industry standard.
