UPDATE 8/29: went to another nail salon to fix my 2 broken nails, she took one look and said we needed to remove them all. To my horror I had GREEN FUNGUS on each nail. I have never in my life had acrylics done so poorly that left me with green fungus. Don't come here for a full set or a fill. On 8/14, I got a fill. By 8/20 my pinky nail fell off. On 8/25 I noticed my thumb nail lifting off. When I called them, they had the audacity to lie and say that they don't even do acrylics LOL. So why didn't you say that before I paid $70 for a fill that doesn't even last a week? And then they said they would fix it but they'd have to charge. Mind you they charge $11 per nail. I've had my nails done by almost everyone here, including Vivian, the Manager. Everyone's wonderful and a pleasure to deal with. What prompted this review was my recent pedicure and powder manicure with Vivian just this afternoon. Vivian has such great attention to detail and she meticulously paints my nails to ensure it's done perfectly. Her staff keeps on watching her when free, because they get to be trained better, no wonder they're all good! Service is personalized and fantastic, really great customer experience. I can't say that happens in every salon where you walk in and no one bothers to acknowledge that there's a customer. Not here. The gist: I chose this nail salon in the neighborhood because they have really great mani/pedi special Monday - Wednesday and I was not disappointed! The ambiance: This place is small. Real small. I went in on a Monday at 10 am, so it wasn't busy at all, but I'm sure people would be stepping all over each other if it was busy. And I just sliced my finger pretty bad yesterday chopping vegetables very close to the nail. My nail tech (I didn't get her name) was very nice and methodical, working with all my issues with ease. They do charge and extra $5 for callous removal but I needed it so whatever. The nails: I got a pedicure and a gel manicure, and both turned out very nicely. In my quest to find a new nail salon to call home I stopped in YL based on the proximity to work and the good reviews. I am disappointed to say the least. I arrived Wednesday morning @ 9:55am and they were still closed *no employees, gate still down*. Which is fine because they don't open until 10... 10:15 still closed, 10:25 an employee walks up asking if I was waiting for the nail salon. I said yes, she replied traffic was bad that's why she's late. OK... she opens up, I walk in, I pick a color, now let's do this. I came for the special gel mani & pedi *which is 39 mon-wed*. Another employee walks in and she does my pedi. The pedi I received was average, the best part of it was the massage. Then to the gel mani, the lady * I didn't ask anyone's name* that opened up did my mani. As soon as I sit down she says "oh I forgot you want a gel mani and have gel, you have to soak". Now I know that I'm suppose to soak which is usually done while getting your pedi, but I've also been to salons that use the machine to take off the gel so I figured that would be her method. NOPE! Time is now 11:35 and I begin to soak. 20mins later she takes off gel and does my mani. Her application is average but slow because her attention is more on the conversation she's having with an employee and friend. She then says "oh my god you've been here for almost 3hrs". I stumbled upon this nail salon after needing to get three broken tip acryllics fixed about 10 days after I originally had them done. I didn't get my nails done here originally, but I couldn't go to the salon that originally did them (because it is in another state) and I figured any nail salon could fix broken tips, so I tried this place. After showing the person there my nails, she hesitated a bit as she thought about it and then said she could fix them. We picked the closest color we could find and 35 or so minutes later she had finished. She sanded off the original nails and then replaced three of my nails. Nothing special. I was charged $28. That felt super expensive for only 3 nails. I asked for an explanation of the cost and they said $6 per nail (3 nails), $5 for removal of the original nails (she literally sanded them off in 90 seconds) and $5 for the gel color (for 3 nails -_- ). She then said she'd charge $25 instead but $3 was a huge difference or the point. The staff was kind there but I felt overcharged for what I got. read more

They were not manicured. They chipped immediately, the polish was sloppy and one nail popped off while we were shopping just a day later. Overall they were pleasant but the service was poor. I got a full set and chrome polish. The gel was cloudy not shiny and she applied the chrome with her fingers as opposed to using proper tools; and between the two of us they charged $163 for sloppy work. And we still tipped well. Neither the owner or the nail tech knew what the price was or how to charge us. Unprofessional. They get one star for being nice but the work was not clean. I wouldn't advise anyone to go here. She told me to sit at the chair to get a pedi first. She told me to sit and soak my feet in the water which was still filling up and she went to chat. The water was practically boiling hot I couldn't keep my feet in. I had to tell the lady that's was doing the pedi next to me to open the cold water. Anyways I didn't say anything because people make mistakes cool. She starts doing my pedi which was nothing fancy for someone who was paying $35 for gel pedi. She trimmed and file my nails. When she started doing my pedi she cut me in one of my toes and just kept on like nothing. Awesome right and proceeded to paint my toes. After that we head to do a gel manicure. Which technically wasn't even a manicure. All she did was file my nails and said that my cuticle was very hard and she needed to cut more. She cut into skin not cuticle. After that she started my to do my nails. She never soaked my nails in water or told me to wash my hand, nothing. My manicure probably lasted 15 mins and that's only because I was doing gel so they needed to dry under the uv light. I paid a total of $70 for a bad service. After applying the powder, she's buffing my nails and didn't even ask me what shape I wanted my nails. I ask her if she can make them almond shaped and she tells me that it is an extra $4. I point out that she never even asked me how I liked my nails. My nail shape came out more coffin-shaped but at this point I was annoyed so I stayed with my mouth shut. So I've been to YL nail a couple of times now. The nail salon is within walking distance in my area & convenient to get to. First things first, the ladies at this shop are all very wonderful! I enjoy there conversations when I've gone there. Now here's the problem , you would think with them charging how much they do with their gel polish that it would actually stay on 2-3 weeks like it should. It doesn't I always get gel polish but the 3 times I've gone here 2/3 times were gel & it peeled right off my acrylic nails the next day! My toe polish stayed but my acrylic nails broke the very same day, which is not acceptable if I'm paying 100+ to have my nails looking pretty. The products they use for acrylic nails , the crystal tips are horrible, literally break at the smallest thing like tying my shoes or to even take off my sandals. I enjoyed there company the times I have gone but it's just a waste of money if I can't have my nails looking nice for more than one day. read more
