When I walk in, I feel like I am invited into her home. I truly enjoy the classes. When I am in class, I am able to wash away the rat of the world for a little bit and focus on just me. I would strongly caution anyone against booking with Island Retreat Spa. I was charged $175 for a…read moremassage I fully intended to attend, but the spa canceled my appointment without ever clearly confirming the cancellation with me. I initially contacted the spa to ask about canceling because I had an earlier ferry reservation. After learning I would be charged 100% of the service price, I rearranged my entire day so I could attend: I changed my ferry reservation and rescheduled a veterinary appointment in Wilmington. I then received an automated reminder confirming my 2:30 appointment, so I reasonably believed it was still scheduled. I arrived more than 30 minutes early, only to be told that the spa had decided to cancel my appointment and never had the masseuse come in that day. I received no massage, yet they still charged me the full $175. The manager on duty was dismissive and showed no interest in taking responsibility for the unclear communication. I later contacted management and gave them the opportunity to correct the situation, but they refused to refund me. Charging a customer in full for a service the business itself canceled--without clear confirmation and despite sending an appointment reminder--is completely unacceptable. What was most disappointing was not simply the mistake, but the total lack of accountability or basic customer care afterward. For a business operating in a vacation destination where guests already have to coordinate ferries and limited transportation, I expected far better. I will never book here again and would advise others not to risk it.

The atmosphere is them incredibly welcoming and non-intimidating and my weeks are better because of them.
